When we first set the date for The Buzz Event we weren’t anticipating such a busy date for November 24th. Especially in the creative or innovation space! Who were we kidding? Pecha Kucha

PechaKucha Night began in Tokyo in 2003 as an event for young designers to share their work, but has since grown into a global event held in 447 cities around the world. As PechaKucha Night spread geographically, it also expanded in focus and now gathers local creatives from across many fields to share their passions in a unique, concise format: each presenter shows 20 images for 20 seconds each. In Vancouver, PechaKucha Night is a fun and informal hour and a half of culture, ideas, creativity, passion and opinions. Startup Drinks

Startup Drinks is a casual gathering at the end of each month for anyone who’s interested in startups. We meet at a bar in downtown Vancouver and we chat about all things #startups…projects, funding, challenges, and people in the scene. Learn more about Startup Drinks on Meetup.

Make It Fair

Make It is devoted to creating positive opportunities for artists, crafters, designers & musicians. On the flip side, Make It is a shopping event that gives enlightened shoppers the opportunity to buy unique, ethically made goods from top artisans from all over Canada. The vibe at the show is funky, hip and modern very different from you traditional granny craft show!(not that there is anything wrong with that) Music is performed by up-and-coming local musicians and there are always tasty treats to be enjoyed. Our latest Buzz Event on November 24th 2011 will feature a new addition called Start-Up Spotlight, where a new company will have the opportunity to present to guests. The first Start-Up Spotlight is SpringBoard, founded by locals Sean Bowles, Katherine Quan, and James Sandoval De Chavez. SpringBoard is a crowd-funding platform. It enables people to raise money for business and goodwill projects by collecting small amounts of money from a large group of people

The Buzz Event is a quarterly networking event for entrepreneurs, young-professionals and industry veterans, featuring an audience that keeps its fingers on the pulse of latest trends, strategies and profit opportunities.

The Buzz Group is looking for speakers for our March 2012, June 2012, September 2012, and November 2012 events. Our goal with speakers at all these events is to deliver helpful, practical, real-world and inspirational information to participants.

The ideal Buzz speaker:

Is experienced and comfortable speaking in front of large groups, ranging from 100 to 250 people

Is interested in sharing expertise, real-world strategies and knowledge with other creative professionals

There is a LOT going on at this event and we need a crew of volunteers that are ready to be busy but also have a great time. We believe that volunteering should be fun! As a “thank-you” we will provide you with complimentary admission so that you can enjoy the event too!

Our volunteer roles are broken out into 4-hour shifts, and we’re happy to do what we can to work with your schedule. Volunteer positions will be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis.
