Corona Impeachment: Vitaliano Aguirre Covers Ears From Sen. Miriam Santiago

EARFUL An irate Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago covers her ears during a tumultuous moment in the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona on Wednesday after private prosecutor Vitaliano Aguirre III was caught on camera covering his ears as Santiago was berating the prosecution panel. Aguirre, who said his ears “were hurting,” was later cited in contempt for disrespect of a senator-judge.

But here is Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago speaking openly to the alleged "Dirty Tactics" being used by PNoy's Prosecution Team Tupas, Farinas, Vitaliano Aguirre of Trial by Publicity & Contempt of Court.

What was Miriam Santiago talking about? She was berating the Prosecution Panel for playing around with the whole impeachment proceedings by employing "tactics" like the dropping of five of the eight charges or Articles of Impeachment against the Chief Justice all of a sudden.

Santiago said some colleagues had read and studied all eight articles in fulfillment of their functions as senator-judges. Santiago wondered whether prosecutors “acted in good faith” when they told the impeachment court in a legal compliance submitted in January that they would present evidence and witnesses for eight articles.

Scolding the Prosecution

Scolding the prosecution, the senator said the prosecution was “playing games” with senator-judges in dropping the five articles after promising earlier to present about 100 witnesses.

“I was not born yesterday. We will be studied generations from now. This is a travesty. I request the secretariat to record in the journal that I said, ‘Wah!’” she said.

Santiago repeated this expression three times.
After the blast, Sotto said that Senator Serge Osmeña had asked, “What’s the spelling of ‘Wah?’”

“Because now you turn around and say you don’t want to do that,” she noted.

“That’s what the law calls frivolous when you say ‘I don’t want to present evidence on eight, I only want to present evidence on five.’ Let me remind you gentlemen, the lawyer’s oath: I will do no falsehood, not promote or sue any groundless, false or unlawful suit or aid or consent to the same,” she said.

As per the Senators, "you have just left with permission from the court if you do not like what you are hearing." (See video below.)

The report noted that Senator Jinggoy Estrada saw Aguirre's move and called his attention. Estrada then told Aguirre that what he was doing was an insult to Santiago. Then, Santiago also stood up and called for a point of order in an apparent attempt to have Aguirre cited for contempt.

Aguirre claimed that he only made the gesture becuase he was "hurt by Santiago's criticism of the prosecution." He pointed out that he found Santiago's voice "shrill" and it "hurt his ears." However, both Santiago and Estrada said Aguirre should have just left the court if he did not like what he heard. The report quoted what Santiago told Aguirre: "You cannot make those contemptuous gestures and get away [with] it."

SANTIAGO to Prosecution and Aguire:
“Imagine if all the lawyers did that in front of the impeachment court, if all of the senator-judges took the (floor) to express his opinions … (if) you don’t agree with (us) then don’t listen to us, get out of the courtroom!”.

“I charge this private prosecutor with contempt of this impeachment court! I have evidence right here taken by Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, and to say that nasaktan ang tenga ko (my ears hurt) should have been (a cause) for you to walk out of this impeachment court. But you cannot make those contemptuous gestures in front of a judge, and get away with it,” Santiago declared.

“I am terribly concerned that this might constitute unethical behavior in this trial court,” she said.
“We have a term of art—‘frivolous and sham’—that can be taken in its technical meaning. A frivolous claim refers to a motion or lawsuit motivated by intent merely to harass, delay or embarrass the opposition. The claim must have no arguable basis in law or in fact,” she explained.

JINGGOY to Aguiree:
“It seemed that you don’t want to listen to her,” Estrada said. “That’s disrespect for a member of this court.”

AGUIRE to public:
“This happens every day. The fact is that this is the first time that I experienced in my 40 years of practice that a judge would lecture his lawyers. That’s not proper,” Aguirre said.

“May I say something? If my actuation has hurt somebody, I really did it purposely because my ears were hurting from her shrill voice. My point here is that even if we’re mere lawyers, we also deserve respect. If you demand respect, respect also these lawyers because human dignity has no equal.”

Aguirre swiftly replied: “I was about to leave but …”
“Granted!” Santiago roared. “If that is in the form of a motion, go ahead! You’re challenging me!”

Kuwait Al-Azraq Defeats Philippine Azkals 3-0

The Philippine Azkals had failed to bring the victory after they lost to Kuwait Al-Azraq with score 3-0. The Azkals were not able to defend the midfield and the back line due to the absence of Azkals two defenders, Borromeo and Shrock. Another factors is the heat that scourges up at least 44 degrees centigrade although the game was held at night.

The Philippine Azkals use a 4-5-1 formation with Chieffy Caligdong playing at center and the team captain. The 4-5-1 formation uses 4 defenders, 5 midfielders, and lone striker. Angel Guirado moved to the left wing and a tactic making any offensive to have difficulty in attacking.

The Grammy award-winning soul, singer with her trademark beehive hairstyle, was found dead at her London flat on Saturday at the age of 27.

Fans began to gather and lay flowers candles and teddy bears at the police cordon outside her home in Camden, north London. Fellow stars and friends voiced their shock and mourning at Amy Winehouse's death.

The road outside her house has been cordoned off and forensic officers were seen going in and out of the building.

Tributes far from different personalities had start to pour in for Winehouse. Her close friend, Mark Ronson, who produced Back to Black, said: "She was my musical soulmate and like a sister to me. This is one of the saddest days of my life."

Kelly Osbourne wrote: "i cant even breath right now, im crying so hard i just lost 1 of my best friends. i love you forever Amy & will never forget the real you!"

Winehouse had suffered a well-publicised battle with drink and drug abuse that saw her withdraw from all of her scheduled performances last month after a series of erratic performances. She started her 12-leg European tour in Belgrade but was booed off the stage after appearing to forget her lyrics. She then pulled out of performances in Istanbul and Athens before she cancelled the tour as fears for her health grew.

Winehouse rose to fame with her debut album Frank in 2003, which was feted by music critics in the UK and nominated for the Mercury music prize, but it was her 2006 follow-up album, Back to Black, that catapulted her to stardom and led to five Grammy awards. The album became the third-highest selling album of the 2000s.

It's undeniable, almost anything Lady Gaga does will spark some sort of controversy. Including this new video "Judas" which is, according to them, filled with biblical imagery that is currently the topic on tv news and debates all around the world, Gaga says she is not trying to anger any religious groups.

According to an article from MTV.com, Gaga explained that
it "is not meant to be an attack on religion. I respect and love everyone's beliefs." She expressed similar sentiments several times leading up to the premiere of "Judas," declaring that "it's meant more to celebrate faith than it is to challenge it."

"To the religious groups, I don't even know that there's religious [stuff in there]," she explained. "I'm like, you know, Jesus did have a crown of thrones, he did die for my sins. I'm a believer, so I say to them, those religious people, personally, I can't speak for Gaga, but as a director, a choreographer, as a believer, I say, 'Take a look at yourself.' For me, I would never [defame] my savior and the love and the non-judgment of what Jesus means to me. So I say, 'Take a closer look at why you're judging.' " says Laurieann Gibson, who co-directed the video with Gaga.

Gibson furthermore explains, "The discussions were massive, the concepts were many prior to landing on a place. They were just exciting, full of passion. It was a magical process and we're really proud of where we ended up.

"I think the concept stuck with this one because ultimately there was a place where we wanted to leave the interpretation up to each individual and not take away [Gaga's] power as a performer, as a dancer, as a star," she continued. "And to leave the moments for you to interpret, and be inspired by the fact that everyone has a Judas in their life and there is a place of deliverance."

Life one hell of a ride! It is full of surprises that sometimes we may not expect that it would out turn out bad for us. I guess this is what demise AJ Perez youth. Actor and model AJ Perez, 18 yr old, or Antonello Joseph Sarte Perez in real life, died in a vehicular accident just today. This tragic news was first brought up as twitter posts by local celebrities. Perez, together with his five friends came from Dagupan after attending an event (Annual Bangus Festival) held last April 16 in Dagupan City when their van collided with a bus along Paniqui, in Tarlac on their way back to Manila.

Eighteen year old Perez was pronounced dead on arrival at exactly 12:20AM April 17, 2011 due to multiple head injuries. Fortunately, AJ’s other companions were alive and brought to the hospital for treatment.

‘The Sound of Music’ Cast Reunites in Oprah

Oprah Winfrey can practically do almost anything. Well, almost. She has announced that she will be reuniting all the members of the cast of one of the most enduring films of all time– The Sound of Music –a feat that has not been achieved in the last 45 years since the film was released.

Julie Andrews, 74, and Christopher Plummer, 81, will lead the reunion together with the seven child actors who played their children in the movie: Charmian Carr (Liesl), Nicholas Hammond (Friedrich), Heather Menzies-Urich (Louisa), Duane Chase (Kurt), Angela Cartwright (Brigitta), Debbie Turner (Marta), and Kym Karath (Gretl).

It was also announced that some of the real von Trapp children will be in attendance during the reunion.

Previous attempts to reunite the entire cast failed as either Andrews or Plummer would not be in attendance. Plummer has actually distanced himself from the movie which typcasted him as a tight leading man for years. He however said that he has already reconciled with that fact.

The Sound of Music, considered a film that stood the test of time, has been finding new fans even up to this date. It has won five Academy Awards including Best Picture.

The episode will be shown on October 29.

She had received a diagnosis of lung cancer several years ago, said her daughter Sylvia Thompson, who confirmed the death.

In the role of a 101-year-old Titanic survivor, Ms. Stuart narrated the James Cameron-directed film and served as the linchpin of its past and present-day story lines. Her effective portrayal of a feisty, headstrong character made her the oldest actress to ever be nominated for an Academy Award.

She lost to Kim Basinger in "L.A. Confidential," even as "Titanic" swept many of the awards that year, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Many profiles of Ms. Stuart suggested that her nomination was largely sentimental, but she won admiration from several prominent movie critics.

Ms. Stuart had all but abandoned acting when a casting director contacted her and asked her to audition for the part in "Titanic."

Cameron was looking for an actress whose heyday had been Hollywood's golden era, and Ms. Stuart filled the bill.

She joked later to the New York Times that she was cast because, at 87, she was one of few actresses in her age group who was "still viable, not alcoholic, rheumatic or falling down."

After the success of "Titanic," Ms. Stuart received new acting offers. Many, she said with resignation, were a variation on "sweet old ladies." She turned them all down, instead agreeing to eccentric parts such as a bag lady in the crime drama "The Million Dollar Hotel" (2000), directed by Wim Wenders.

No Presidential staff for Noynoy made a move to correct this. Is Philippine at war now since the flag has been reverted? US embassy spokesperson Rebecca Thompson described the incident as “an honest mistake.”

“The US treasures its close relationship and close partnership with the Philippines which were demonstrated this past week during President Aquino’s trip to the US, with the signing of the MCC Compact, the US-ASEAN meeting, and the meeting of our two Presidents that followed it,” she said.

Tropical Storm Igor is nearing hurricane strength as it swirls over the open Atlantic Ocean. The US National Hurricane Center in Miami says the storm is likely to become a hurricane late on Saturday or early Sunday.

Igor remains far from land and was about 1840km west of the Cape Verde Islands on Saturday afternoon. The storm's maximum sustained winds were near 110kph.
