The Tartan Panda Extravaganza!

Do you think that "real" Chinese food should include chips and curry sauce? In that case, you will be delighted to hear that the Caledonian Society of Bermuda are partnering with Chopsticks to offer you The Tartan Panda Extravaganza, a "traditional" Scottish-Chinese takeaway menu!

There are three set menus to choose from, including all your old favourites, with part proceeds going to charity:

The Sauchiehall (pronounced Suck-ee-hall) Single for 1 costs $10 with $1 going to charity.
The Dundee Double for 2 costs $20 with $2 going to charity.
The Finnieston Feast is for 3 to 4 and costs $30 with $3 going to charity.

If in doubt, just ask for the $10, $20 or $30 Caledonian Society menu and they'll sort you out. In addition to this, there will also be a special deal on the legendary drink, Irn Bru, depending on which set menu you choose.

Burns Night 2012 Menu and Room Rate

Many thanks to all who attended our sold-out screening of The Inbetweeners Movie - I think we can all agree it was a very successful event!

There are very limited spaces left for our Annual Burns Supper on Saturday, January 28th so please contact iHind@BECL.bm to secure your place, if you haven't already! We also wanted to give you a sneak peak of the menu - please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements:

Annual Burns Supper 2012

Tickets for our The Inbetweeners Movie screening on Sunday have almost sold out so please get your tickets at www.premiertickets.bm as soon as possible as we will NOT be selling tickets at the door.

Now, on to our next event - the Caledonian Society of Bermuda's Annual Burns Supper for 2012 will be at Tucker's Point Hotel and Spa on Saturday, January 28th.

A Burns Supper is a celebration of the life and poetry of the Scottish poet Robert Burns, author of many famous poems and songs. A few examples include Auld Lang Syne (yes, the one we all sing at New Year), To a Mouse (the phrase "the best laid schemes o' mice and men gang aft agley" comes from this poem) and Tam O' Shanter (considered by many to be one of the best examples of the narrative poem in European literature).

You do NOT have to be a literary buff to enjoy this (Burns himself was a renowned drunken womaniser), you just have to enjoy cocktails, dinner, poetry and entertaining toasts and speeches. We have another excellent lineup of speakers this year, headed by Bruce Murray as MC, with past president Gordon Ness Addressing the Haggis, Bill Storie providing the Immortal Memory, Toast to Scotland by Steve Pegg, Toast to Bermuda by Bruce Barritt, Toast to the Lassies by Arthur Wightman and the Reply on Behalf of the Lassies to be announced.

The pre-dinner cocktail reception (cash bar) will be from 6.30pm until 7.15pm, with the five-course dinner beginning at 7.30pm. The ticket price has been held at $75 per person and available from IHind@becl.bm or online at www.premiertickets.bm. The link to the event on Facebook is here.

Inbetweeners Film Screening and Burns Supper in January!

All of us at the Caledonian Society of Bermuda would like to wish you a very fun and festive holiday season. As you know, we are not having our Hogmanay NYE Ball this year, however we hope to see you at one of our two events in January!

January tends to be a detox month for many people so we thought we would offer an alcohol-free option!

After the success of Whisky Galore! in October, we will be presenting our second movie screening on Sunday, January 8th. This is not a Scottish film, however we think you'll forgive us as we will be bringing in the UK's No. 1 comedy, The Inbetweeners Movie!

This will be showing at 7pm in BUEI, tickets cost $15 and are available at www.premiertickets.bm. Due to the popularity of this movie, we expect to sell out so get your tickets early!

Saturday, January 28th will be our Annual Burns Supper at Tucker's Point Hotel. Details are being finalised now and will be released shortly.

Pre-Ball Dance Practice

We're looking forward to seeing you all tonight all our pre-Ball dance practice - please note that the venue has changed from Spanish Point Boat Club to the Police Recreation Club but the time of 7pm until 9.30pm is still the same.

The dance practice is mainly intended for ball-goers but anyone is welcome to join in so feel free to bring friends!

If you haven't confirmed your ticket for the Ball yet, there is still time - please confirm by end of day tomorrow to Ian Hind at iHind@becl.bm if you want to attend the party of the year!
