Cambridge Music Podcast, A Retrospective.

It has been a couple of months since our last podcast, and what with submissions drying up, and both Matt and I facing dissertation deadlines, finals and then the rest of our lives (hopefully spent outside of Cambridge), it seems that the podcast is now on an indefinate hiatus.

Who knows, we might record a couple of new shows in the next month or two, but it doesnt seem very likely. At some point I'll put together a proper archive of the podcast, so that people can still listen to them, and still hear the best of what I still believe is a brilliant and creative music community, and when I do I will let you know.

Sadly our dreams for the podcast never really worked out the way we'd hoped. We got a lot of listeners, a lot of media attention, and we had a lot of fun, but our wider hopes of fleshing out the still-divided music scene in Cambridge were never fulfilled. Luckily there are still people with the time and energy to help try and make this happen - including a number of other Cambrige podcasts and websites like cambridgebands.com, a task for which I applaud them, and wish them the best of luck.

Anyway, thanks everyone for listening - here I present to you the archive of our 17 ace little shows, for your listening pleasure.

In what must be a record time response to the below comment, expect a new show this week and from then on 8 weeks of pure, molten, (regular) cambridge podcasting. Having been away from town, in Spain, Scotland and Mars, podcasting has obviously taken a back seat.

However, my return to town, my new room and new imac - plus the fact that Cambridge will have about 1500 eager new Fresh podcast audience members flocking into their college rooms next week, it now makes sense to carry out the long awaited relaunch.

Anyways, in the next few days look to the skies - and expect news on new and different podcasts coming out of Cambridge too.

Thanks for the comments though, hope the new shows don't disappoint.

Hello to everyone visiting us from BBC News - welcome to the Cambridge Music Podcast! You are all very welcome, and I hope you enjoy our music.

A few things - there will be periodic shows throughout the summer as and when i have enough music to play. Unfortunately i am not in cambridge at the moment, instead living outside london trying to earn a bit of student loan pay-back money. Also Matt Richardson - cohost, dj and all round good guy - is digging wells in Thailand, and so is unlikely to be around for a few weeks.

Of course, there is still a ton of great music to play - and we shall do so in the coming weeks. Also expect me to sort out just whats going on with the shownotes and other things i havent cleaned up as of yet.

Hey everyone, thanks for listening! It seems we are getting more people than ever before tuning into cambridge music, and thats awesome.

Obviously things are busy round here (exams, other stuff) but we will be getting our tenth show out before the end of the week.. maybe with a new co-presenter? I cant make no-damn-announcements. But they might begin with a J.

Hello everyone, just a few things to tell you. Firstly, my term at uni has now ended and as i mentioned during the last show (show 8) this means that the rate of new shows and new updates will be a bit slower than usual. Part of this is due to the fact that i wont be able to make it down to any gigs for at least 3 weeks, and part of it is due to the amount of work i have to do...

However, it is important for me to tell you all two things:

1) the podcast is not going anywhere
2) there will be new shows, possibly 3 but most likely 2, coming on line in the next few weeks
3) i still love you.

i do want to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported the podcast this far. we have had over 5000 unique visitors and 200 regular subsribers, and we will look forward to building on this in a few weeks time, with the re-launch of the podcast and new podcast live events, as well as a load of exciting live sessions and other bits and bobs.

oh and look out for a brand new site re-design coming soon... :)

hi everyone. sorry for a lack of updates this week - i've been ill, things have been crazy - and you all had a lot of music to catch up on! luckily, though, i have a new show almost ready to go out to you all, with live sets from Jos Betts (nicanor nicanor) and the vapour trail, and tracks from a few old favourites as well as the SCA Battle of the Bands Champions Emunah and a couple of others. Should be awesome, and up tomorow sometime. Cheers.

Oh, and something to announce! The PODCAST LIVE MUSIC EVENT will be taking place next monday at Trinity College, at 8.30 pm! I expect to see you all there - we will be placing tents, cushions, candles, tables, coffee, beer, fun and most importantly 5 PODCAST FEATURED BANDS into the WPR ROOM of college.
