Everything that make a 911 special, from it's handing down to its interior, this new Corvette matches if not exceeds it. At $30,000 less. After many years of waiting for the mid-engine Corvette to make its first appearance, the pressure was on Chevrolet to deliver a modern day icon. As the C8-genration car enters its second model year, its status is preserved-in fact, it's elevated. The Corvette offers impressive performance, a 490-hp V-8 engine, and an affordable base price. Both a couple and a convertible are offered, and the Corvette's two-seat cabin is spacious and comfortable for the full-size adults. Beyond its spectacular performance, Chevy's engineers made the ride supple enough for the daily commuting and cross-country road trips, yet with the Z51 package the Vette is track-capable. Cargo space is limited, but golf club still fit in the back, and the front trunk offers a deep well that'll easily hold a carry-on suitcase.

What's New in Corvette for 2021?

Chevrolet has added a few standard features for 2021, including wireless Apple CarPlay for the digital gauge display, and a Buckle-to-Drive safety feature that prevents the standard automatic transmission from shifting out of park unit the driver has buckled their seat belt. On top of that, any Corvette can now be ordered with the optional magnetorheological dampers as a standalone option; previously, to get them you'd have to purchase expensive Z51 performance package.

Cosmetically, a new Full Length Dual Racing Stripe package is available, with stripes in blue, orange, red and yellow. A new gray and yellow interior color scheme has also been added to the options sheet. Pricing of the all models increases by $1000 across the board for the 2021 year model.

Performance, Engine and Transmission

Performance wise, this Corvette doesn't play second fiddle to anyone or anything. It has that trademark sensation of merciless power from idle to redline and that uniquely American small block rumble and wail that is intoxicating. The lithe handling and superbly weighted steering along with excellent visibility makes driving this machine effortless. It's confidence inspiring, ego boosting and breathtakingly easy to drive. The 2021 Corvette doesn't just feel like it's competing against 911 anymore...it has the power, poise and handling that it feel like it's competing against that like of McLaren. Although the engine is in a new location-now behind the passenger compartment instead of in front of it.

It remain a 6.2-liter V-8, albeit one making 490 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. With the dual-mode performance exhaust that is part of the Z51 package, It makes 495 horsepower. The Z51 option also adds an electronic limited-slip rear differential, more aggressive brakes, and summer tires. An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic (a Corvette first) is the sole transmission. It is controlled either by a push-button gear selector on the center console or by using two large steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles. A manual transmission is not available. The new Corvette is capable of heroic handling and delivers big thrills on both road and track.

Interior and Comfort

The interior of the new Corvette is not just finally acceptable. It's exceptional! From the feel of the supportive seats, the quality of the leather, the fit and finish of the dashboard and noise isolation at any good as the hallowed 911. In Some regards....it's actually better! but the cabin is moved up closer to the nose to accommodate the mid-mounted engine. The interior is lined in materials such as leather, real metal and imitation suede and even has a stitched headliner. Speaking of the roof, it's removable just like those of previous Corvettes, and it fits inside the car's trunk just aft of the engine compartment.

The driver sits behind a squared-off steering wheel and a 12.0-inch reconfigurable gauge display; a large infotainment touchscreen is angled toward the driver for easy of use. The interior design takes the driver-focused concept to the max, bisecting the cockpit with a tall bank of switches for the car's climate-control system. Overall, the new Corvette's cabin is quite good. Upgrading material such as sewn leather on most of it's interior surface, plus carbon-fiber trim. Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The Corvette hasn't been crash-tested by the National Highway traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, so we cannot comment on its performance. The Corvette can be had with a limited number of driver-assistance features, and none are standard on the base model. Key safety features include:

Is the Corvette Stingray a good Car?

The C8 has arguably the best ride of any mid-engine car on the market. it's quite, too. With the roof in place and the 6.2-liter V8 set to its quietest exhaust mode, the C8 does a fine impression of a car you could commute in daily. There's little engine noise while cruising, and despite the frameless window and removable roof pane, wind is rarely a problem. Ditch that panel for alfresco motoring and the C8 managers airflow well, so long as the windows are up. We were able to maintain conversations at highway speeds with just a hint of yelling.

The C8 loses a point for it tight cargo holds. While you can stuff a golf bag in the faintly U-shape rear trunk, neither the frunk nor the trunk could handle our small RTIC 20 cooler. And if you do want to go golfing, don't plan on stowing the removable roof panel on board-like the last Corvette, it eats into all the space.

German-based fettler and provocator Gemballa has revealed details of it's own hypercar. Resolute to secure a rung on the hypercar ladder for itself, German-based bespoke manufacturer Gemballa has revealed its plans to release its own hypercar. Unlike so many of the hypercar upstarts announced over the last couple years, Gemballa’s as-yet-unnamed hypercar will feature an internal combustion engine without an electric motor or lithium ion battery in sight.

Specific details remain vague, but Gemballa has revealed a set of benchmarks it will be working to meet, with proposed 0-62mph acceleration times of under 2.5sec, and 124mph in 6.5sec. The powertrain it intends on using to facilitate these figures is also suitably vague, although the company has alluded to the possible use of a manual transmission.

Gemballa has also released some early design sketches, revealing its mid-engined layout judging by the cab-forward profile and long tail. The overall aesthetic does have whispers of McLaren about it, and Gemballa’s experience with the British supercar manufacturer might form a possible connection between the two, but for the moment this is just speculation.

Despite the brand’s quite specific rhetoric of this being “one of the last pure sports cars”, a hybridised version is said to be in the works too, which might appear some time after this initial version.

Speed Of Gemballa:-

For starters, the first prototype should be unveiled in the first half of 2020, and the company recently started a fundraising process, already registering payments from investors.

Two new drawings, showing a slightly different mid-engine model than the first rendering, don't do much in explaining the jump from “supercar” to “hypercar.” What does that is the first discussion about performance, with Gemballa aiming for a naught to 100 kph (62 mph) acceleration time of under 2.5 seconds. Even more outstanding is the expected 0-200 kph (124 mph) time, which should be achieved in around 6.5 seconds, or about as quickly as a Buggati Chiron.

Not much is official about the powerplant or the car's name so far, but the CEO has let it slip that he's no fan of electric motors. “We’re now concentrating on building one of the last pure sports cars, a modern classic with an outstanding appearance and performance. A pure GEMBALLA car needs petrol and sound. Not all new trends are cool,” highlighted CEO Steffen Korbach. That said, a hybrid version will also be in the works, apparently.

Exterior Of Gemballa:-

Gemballa released a couple of sketches that provide some hints at its future supercar’s exterior, and while they might not be as good as a set of proper photos, at least it’s something that gives us a bone to chew. In all fairness, we doubt that the real deal will feature those humongous front wheel arches yet from where we’re standing, the narrow front grille, the side vents that flank it (those are there to cool the front brakes) and the slim headlights are good to go. The same can be said about the front splitter and the winglets positioned in front of the wheels.

Now, the second sketch shows what the supercar will look like when viewed from the side. And this is where the hint of a mid-engined layout becomes more and more obvious. Just look at how short the front hood is and how the whole cabin has been moved as forward as possible. At this point, we have no doubt that whatever will power the Gemballa supercar is going to sit between the driver’s seat and the rear axle. Plus, it’s not just the supercar’s silhouette and the long rear deck that hint at a mid-engine configuration. Just take a look at the two R8-like air scoops in front of the rear wheels, coupled by smaller, Murcielago-style air catchers right where the side widows end.

Interior Of Gemballa:-

You can count on Gemballa to decorate the interior with a lot of carbon fiber and plush materials such as Alcantara and whatnot. Unfortunately, there’s absolutely no info whatsoever coming from Gemballa regarding the cockpit, not even a sketch.

So, if you care for our two cents, we’d go for the latter scenario. We’re basing the hunch on the interior looks of the Gemballa Mirage GT (essentially a tweaked Porsche Carrera GT) and its spiced up interior, which features the likes of carbon fiber, Alcantara, and bright-colored eccentric inserts. There’s also a high chance that each Gemballa supercar owner will get the opportunity to work with the tuner’s designers and even specify his or her own choice of colors and materials for the cabin. All of this seems to be confirmed by Gemballa’s PR talk, which mentions that the new supercar will be “uncompromising, radical, pure, and luxurious.”

The tuner, which has been listed as a registered car manufacturer with the German Motor Vehicles Authority since 1985, also mentioned that the first designs will be presented to select clients soon, and a first prototype is scheduled to make its appearance sometime in 2020.

we’re just as eager as you guys to find out what’s what. However, Gemballa is again tight-lipped when it comes to its supercar’s beating heart. All we get from the Germans is that once lock and loaded, the high-performance machine will deliver 800+ horsepower. We don’t know the nature of the engine that’ll sit behind the driver, but initially, it’ll be an internal combustion powerhouse.

Considering Gemballa’s eye for Porsches and the mid-engine nature of its upcoming supercar, we’d love to see the same V-10 that powered the Carrera GT brought back to life and reinterpreted. The 5.7-liter V-10 found inside the Carrera GT drew a lot of inspiration from the Formula 1 technology of its time and pumped out 612 horsepower and 590 Newton-meters of torque (that’s around 435 pound-feet of twist). In the Gemballa Mirage GT, the same powerhouse was boosted to 670 horsepower and a peak torque of 630 Newton-meters (465 pound-feet).

Valhalla, aka the 'Son of Valkyrie', an all-new performance-bred predator that follows Aston Martin Valkyrie and Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro as the third hyper car in Aston Martin's mid-engine story.

Valhalla will be a revolutionary mid-engine hypercar incorporating concepts and technologies taken directly from F1™ and inspired by Aston Martin Valkyrie, benefitting from the close involvement of Red Bull Advanced Technologies in its design and engineering, continuing one of the brightest and most exciting engineering partnerships in the automotive world.

Sharing the same fundamental styling and aerodynamic philosophy with Aston Martin Valkyrie, Valhalla features a pronounced front keel and large rear diffuser, with the underfloor generating the bulk of the downforce. However, Valhalla will also benefit from next-generation aircraft morphing technology, to create a variable airfoil across the entirety of the rear wing.

The company has confirmed that this upcoming mid-engine hypercar will indeed be called Valhalla, but Aston hasn't given us all the details. We expect to hear more about the Valhalla closer to its on-sale date, which should be sometime in 2021—making it a 2022 model.

Engine And Transmission:-

The mid-engine Valhalla will be able to reach extralegal speeds in a trice thanks to its F1-inspired powertrain, featuring a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine combined with a hybrid system. Although Aston hasn't disclosed the juiciest details (i.e., horsepower and torque), the British automaker confirmed that this powertrain will be designed in-house and will not be shared with the Valkyrie. The engine will be equipped with a dry-sump system to ensure that it's always properly lubricated and sits as low in the chassis as possible, which in turn helps lower the center of gravity. Aston has also confirmed that the Valhalla will be a conventional "cordless" hybrid, not a plug-in. The company says the car's transmission won't be integrated into the hybrid system and that it will be compatible with other models in the lineup. To save weight, the company will use carbon fiber for this car's structure and streamlined bodywork. We can only assume the Valhalla's eye-popping design will be complemented by out-of-this-world handling, especially since the development team specializes in Formula 1 racing.

The Valhalla isn't in production yet, so naturally the EPA hasn't weighed in on its fuel economy. And it's probable that it never will, as limited-production vehicles often qualify for exemptions. Hypercar owners are hardly concerned with such results.

There's no traditional infotainment system inside the Valhalla. In fact, there's no infotainment at all. Aston has incorporated a mounting apparatus on the dashboard that will accept a smartphone. We presume the hypercar will have at least Bluetooth technology so that occupants can play music, take phone calls, or get directions through their phone's navigation applications. We've also heard that the Valhalla will have a heart-rate monitor built into the steering wheel, with the data displaying on a dash-mounted smartphone.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features:-

We doubt the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) will crash-test the 2022 Valhalla, given the car's limited production. Although Aston offers some driver-assistance technology on its more mainstream models, don't plan on the Valhalla having common equipment such as automated emergency braking or adaptive cruise control. In other markets—and possibly ours, if we get our regulatory act together in time—the car will feature rear-facing cameras integrated into the body in place of traditional side mirrors.

Comfort And Cargo:-

Behind the Valhalla's wraparound windshield is a cutting-edge cockpit that seats two. Filled with what Aston calls "space-age" materials, the interior aims to minimize distractions. There's a screen mounted on the steering column, so the driver's eyes rarely need to wander. A discreetly integrated band across the upper portion of the dash provides ambient lighting, audio, and ventilation—eschewing the need for traditional lights, speakers, and air vents. And the thin center console features only a few switches. There's a spot to store small items, such as a smartphone or wallet, as well as a storage space behind the seats, because ultrawealthy people need places to put their things, just like you and me.

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage:-

Aston Martin doesn't provide the most impressive limited or powertrain warranty for its models, and it leaves out complimentary maintenance altogether, but the British automaker does offer extended-coverage plans for additional coin. Porsche 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design

Porsche took to digital platform to officially unveil two new cars in its 911 series - the 2021 Porsche 911 Targa and Targa 4S on Monday. Both the cars were supposed to be launched at the 2020 Beijing Motor Show which was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The distinguishing feature of the Targa remains its innovative, fully automatic roof system and, just like the legendary original Targa model from 1965, it features a characteristic wide roll hoop, a movable roof section above the front seats and a wraparound rear window. The roof can be comfortably opened and closed in just 19 seconds.

The exterior of the 911 Targa is characterised by the design elements of its 992 model generation. Compared to its predecessors, its body features significantly more pronounced wheel housings at the front and, between its LED headlights, its bonnet has a distinctive recess evoking the design of the first 911 generations. Its rear is dominated by its wider, variably extending rear spoiler and seamlessly integrated, elegant light bar. With the exception of the front and rear sections, the entire outer skin is made from aluminium.

Exterior Design:-

The Targa is perhaps the most unique 911 model in terms of styling. It isn't quite a coupe but it isn't a full convertible either. The Targa's most obvious styling feature is its silver roll bar, which harkens back to the 1966 Porsche 911 Targa. If you don't love the look of the silver bar, Porsche also offers it in black. Whether the roof is deployed or retracted, the glass bubble remains in place to give the appearance of a coupe in the rear. The glass piece only moves when allowing the fabric roof section to retract in a beautiful, choreographed process.

Interior:-

No notable changes have been made to the 911 Targa's cabin, which should not be held against it. The latest 992 911 features an interior that seamlessly blends simplistic design with modern technology. Porsche also allows owners to personalize every last bit of the cabin, provided they have a large enough checkbook to tick off all of the options on the configurator. Obviously, the biggest difference in the interior of the Targa will be the unique open-top, which is larger than a sunroof on the Coupe but smaller than the full convertible roof of the Cabriolet. And if you do manage to squeeze small children into the back seats, they will be sitting under a glass canopy, so be sure to apply sunscreen.

Engine, Transmission, and Performance:-

Mounted in the rear of the 911 Carrera is a twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat-six-cylinder engine. The base version has 379 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque; the S model pumps out 443 ponies and 390 lb-ft. While all Carreras have a ridiculously quick-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission, a sweet seven-speed manual is offered on S models. Both base and S variants come standard with rear-wheel drive, but they can be equipped with all-wheel drive for four-season high-performance driving. We've tested the base Carrera as well as several variations of the more powerful Carrera S, which proved its prowess at the racetrack and its incredible traction in adverse weather conditions. No matter the application, every 911 has astonishing acceleration, especially when the gleefully good launch control is utilized. Porsche's optional sport exhaust system also helps enhance the experience by providing a fuller engine note. Best of all, the 911 is as comfortable as ever and also better to drive. Its steering is communicative and brilliantly direct, and the coupe and convertible have increased cornering grip and stability. The ride quality is surprisingly supple, too, despite the 911's amazing body control, which allow drivers to seamlessly switch between relaxed and spirited romps.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG:-

The EPA estimates for the 992-generation dropped dramatically compared to the previous models. We'll start with the automatics: Both the rear-drive 911 Carrera and Carrera S and the all-wheel-drive Carrera 4 (including the convertible versions) are rated at 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. Step up to the more powerful Carrera 4S and its ratings drop to 18 city and 23 highway. Manual-transmission variants are rated a single mpg lower on the city figures and one higher on the highway. On our 200-mile highway route that simulates real-world fuel economy, an automatic-equipped Carrera S averaged 30 mpg—exceeding its now-lower EPA highway rating by an impressive 6 mpg, but about the same as we achieved with the previous-generation 911.

Comfort, and Cargo:-

The 911's interior continues to look sophisticated rather than complicated, with a mix of buttons, knobs and touch-screen controls and—for the first time ever—a large center cupholder. The gauge cluster also deviates from history, ditching the mainly analog instruments for mostly digital ones. While these screens have some user-experience issues and can be blocked by the steering wheel, the central tachometer still uses a physical needle that follows the engine's revs towards its heavenly 7500-rpm redline. The 911's low-slung driving position and supportive front seats are fantastic, and the steering wheel has a wide range of adjustment. We only wish Porsche used less piano-black trim on the center console, provided more interior cubby storage, and gave this icon of a car a grander shifter than the stubby flipper that comes on automatic-equipped models. Although the 911 continues to offer seating for up to four in theory, the tiny back seats remain as hostile to adults as they were when 911s first hit the road in the mid-1960s.

All-Wheel-Drive With Two Outputs:-

Until a more powerful GTS arrives, Porsche will only offer the Targa in two versions - a 4 and 4S. As with the Coupe and Cabriolet, the Targa 4 and Targa 4S are both powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine producing 379 horsepower and 331 lb-ft of torque, and 443 hp and 390 lb-ft, respectively. Both versions have the option of sending their power to all four wheels through either an eight-speed PDK dual-clutch or a seven-speed manual transmission for no additional cost.Porsche says the Targa 4 with the Sport Chrono Package and the PDK will hit 60 mph in 4.0 seconds and go on to a top speed of 179 mph. Similarly equipped, the Targa 4S takes just 3.4 seconds to hit 60 mph with a top speed of 188 mph. These numbers are practically identical to the Coupe and are slightly quicker than the Convertible, even though the Targa is traditionally the heaviest of the three. Perhaps Porsche has managed to shave some pounds off the curb weight with the 992.

Every 911 is outfitted with a 10.9-inch touchscreen integrated into the middle of the dashboard. Porsche hasn't said how much each model will cost or when the 2021 911 lineup will go on sale. But based on the few minor changes and our experience with the current model-year cars, we can still confidently recommend the Carrera 4S. The S version's increased output nets 64 more horses than the standard Carrera, and we'd be happy with either the engaging manual transmission or the snappier PDK dual-clutch automatic. Those who want to enjoy their 911 year-round but have to deal with the slippery conditions associated with winter weather—like us—will appreciate the 4S's all-wheel-drive system. Unfortunately, it's a substantial upcharge and no longer brings wider rear fenders, which now appear on all versions. Porsche is known for its à la carte approach to options, which is both a blessing and a curse, because it allows a lot of personalization but can quickly inflate the already-rich bottom line. We'd spring for the Sport Chrono package that adds launch control, additional drive modes, and more. The Sport Seats Plus provide more supportive front buckets, and the Sport package adds desirable performance hardware, specifically a lowered suspension and a louder exhaust system. Our selection of upgrades would conclude with ventilated front-seat cushions, passive entry, heated, multifunction GT steering wheel, and Porsche's Dynamic Light System Plus that features automatic high-beams and headlights that swivel in the direction the front tires are pointed.

2020 Toyota Supra

Only a year after the Supra was reintroduced, Toyota is turning up the heat on the car's turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, dialing up its horsepower from 335 to 382. To help the Supra broaden its reach, the company is also adding a four-cylinder model to the lineup, which is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 that makes 255 horsepower. The range-topping A91 special edition comes standard with the six-cylinder engine and adds a host of appearance items to the interior and exterior to differentiate it from regular Supra models. Last year's standard 6.5-inch infotainment screen is gone; the larger 8.8-inch display is now standard across the lineup.

Pay no mind to the fact that the 2021 Toyota Supra shares much of its chassis and powertrains with the BMW Z4—it offers its own distinct personality and is an utter blast to drive. Two different turbocharged powertrains—an inline-four and an inline-six—are on offer, both of which drive the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. We know, we know: a six-speed manual would be preferable. To be honest, this automatic does an excellent job, changing gears crisply and responding quickly to the Supra's paddle shifters. Want a convertible? Then you'll have to get the Z4; the Supra is available only as a coupe. Its snug cabin, while not the right size for every driver, is nicely finished—but in our opinion, it relies too heavily on BMW-sourced switchgear and materials.

Engine And Transmission:-

All Supra models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and are offered only with rear-wheel drive. At the test track, our long-term 2020 Supra laid down some seriously impressive acceleration numbers: zero to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and zero to 100 mph in 9.5. That puts it in the big leagues against the Chevy Camaro, the Porsche Cayman GTS, and the BMW M2 Competition. In fact, it's even quicker than the vaunted fourth-generation Supra that was powered by a sequentially-turbocharged inline-six with 320 horsepower. It's a shame that a manual transmission is not available, but hope isn't completely lost; it's rumored that the Supra will gain a stick later in its production run. Despite its performance potential, the Supra's suspension is forgiving enough to drive daily. Its steering is accurate, nicely weighted and direct, which enhances its fun-to-drive personality. The lower-priced four-cylinder model is new for 2021, but we haven't had the chance to test it. With the turbo-four under the hood, the Supra's German cousin—the BMW Z4—managed a brisk 5.0-second zero-to-60-mph time.

Supra Performance:-

Supra Engine: Potent and Throaty

The GR Supra has only one powertrain option. Its BMW-built 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine has a twin-scroll turbocharger and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Rated at 335 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque, this engine responds quickly when you press the throttle, and its refined transmission expertly progresses through the gears. It's also accompanied by a boisterous exhaust system that snarls and pops in a gratifying way.

Supra Gas Mileage: Very Good

The 2020 Toyota GR Supra gets 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. This above-average fuel economy rating is especially impressive because of the Supra's six-cylinder engine, whereas many of its closest rivals come standard with a four-cylinder engine.

Supra Ride and Handling: Athletic, Responsive, and Stable

Smiles are never in short supply when riding in the rear-wheel-drive GR Supra. This sports car has an even weight balance for composed handling, as well as responsive steering and strong brakes. Switching between Normal and Sport modes noticeably changes the handling tightness, ride quality, and exhaust sound. The result is that the Supra has a split personality as both a comfortable touring car and an aggressive racetrack-ready coupe.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG:-

Now with more horsepower, the fuel-economy ratings for the 2021 Supra 3.0 take a slight hit but are still good, earning 30 mpg highway, 22 mpg city, and 25 mpg combined. That's more efficient than the Camaro, the Cayman GTS, and the M2. On our 200-mile highway fuel-economy test route, the six-cylinder Supra exceeded its highway rating by delivering 34 mpg. The EPA hasn't released estimates for the new four-cylinder model and we haven't tested that powertrain either.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo:-

The driver-focused cockpit is tight, and although the double-bubble roof provides some additional headroom, the tallest drivers will feel pinched. Cargo space is similarly cramped, but the cargo area (accessed via a hatchback) should be roomy enough for a couple of duffle bags, a week's worth of groceries for two, and maybe even a set of golf clubs depending on the bulkiness of the bag. In our testing, we managed to fit four carry-on suitcases behind the rear seats. Much of the Toyota's interior is shared with the Z4, so those familiar with BMW switchgear and infotainment controls will feel right at home.

Infotainment and Connectivity:-

Speaking of infotainment, the Supra's central display is an 8.8-inch unit with a very lightly reskinned version of BMW's latest iDrive interface. A digital gauge display—which is another carry-over piece from the BMW parts bin—is standard across the range. Navigation and Apple CarPlay capability are both available, but Android Auto isn't offered. A 12-speaker JBL audio system is optional but we expect the standard 10-speaker audio system will be enough for most buyers considering the size of the Supra's interior.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features:-

The Supra has not been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Toyota offers a host of driver-assistance features as standard across the Supra lineup, including automated emergency braking. Additional features such as adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring can be added via the Driver Assistance package for $1195. Key safety features include:

Although there's little driving emotion lost with the new four-cylinder Supra 2.0, we can't speak of its value proposition as pricing has yet to be released. We predict that the inline-six will be worth the cost of the upgrade. We'd skip the Driver Assist package; it adds adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-centering assist that's more annoying than useful. With the purchase of a Supra comes a one-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association and a complimentary day at a high-performance driving event. The money saved by not optioning the Driver's Assist package would be wisely spent on additional track time and spare tires.

Is the Toyota Supra a Good Car?

Yes, the redesigned 2020 Toyota Supra is a great pick in the luxury sports car class. The Supra is a blast to drive, thanks to its powerful turbocharged six-cylinder engine, quick steering, and well-tuned suspension. This is a coupe that’s just as capable on a winding road as it is on a racetrack. It’s also quite practical for a sports car. The Supra has a comfortable two-seat interior, easy-to-use tech features, and a roomy hatchback cargo area. It returns great fuel economy as well.

It takes heavy nitpicking to name shortcomings. Some critics note that the Supra has limited visibility out of the side and rear windows, and that it can be challenging to get in and out of this low-slung coupe. But these are pretty common sports car critiques.

The Final Call:-

The 2020 Toyota GR Supra is more robust and thrilling than its smaller sibling, the Toyota 86. Its starting price also falls far below that of a similarly equipped Porsche Boxster or even the BMW Z4. This lower price comes as a blessing from Toyota's partnership with BMW, and results in no downgrades to engine power or handling. Though the Supra isn't as meaty as some of the higher-ranking luxury sports cars, it is still potent and very satisfying to drive.

That means the trim lineup now consists solely of the convertible, the 600LT Spider.McLaren is known for making cars that are preternaturally quick, and the 600LT is perfectly equipped to deliver on this promise. Available solely as a convertible, this supercar gets its muscle from a meaty V-8 that churns out a prodigious 592 horsepower. The automaker claims that's enough to get the 600LT from zero to 60 mph in less than three seconds. The car's high points include a truly organic steering feel and a playful, frisky disposition. The cabin looks appropriately high end, but it's missing driver-assistance features that are commonly offered by vehicles that cost a lot less than this quarter-million-dollar driving machine. Still, if your focus is on pure performance, you'll likely be very happy with the swift, eye-catching 600LT.

Interior and Technology:-

The interior is resplendent in carbon-fiber and faux-suede trim. The flat-bottomed steering wheel is wrapped in faux suede and has paddle shifters for the transmission. A digital gauge cluster prominently displays the tachometer front and center, with ancillary gauges alongside. Sport seats with large bolsters keep driver and passenger secure, but the low seating position combined with wide doorsills makes entering and exiting the cabin a challenge. The infotainment system has plenty of features, but its touchscreen is slow to respond to inputs and makes using the climate control and sound systems more complicated than needed. There is minimal cargo space, so you'll have to pack light.

Engines, Ride, and Handling:-

The 2019 600LT uses a variation of McLaren's 562-hp twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V-8 that powers the 570S and the 570S Spider. In this application, it makes 592 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque; it drives the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. We have yet to strap our test equipment on one, but we estimate the 600LT will go from zero to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds. We have had the chance to drive one, though, and we found the steering to be terrific; it feels completely natural and lacks the artificial lightness that some electric-steering systems have. The handling is perfectly balanced and reassures you with its predictable nature. The brake pedal is firm; thanks to standard carbon-ceramic brake discs, the 600LT can take repeated hard stops from high speeds without the pedal going soft.

Exterior:-

Based on the 570S, McLaren's most compact sports car yet, much of the 600LT's design is familiar, including the McLaren-swoosh LED headlights, dihedral opening doors, and carbon-fiber side air intakes. But those with a keener eye will note the additional carbon fiber - a bespoke front splitter, new side sills with various canards and a '600LT' logo on either side. Staggered fitment ten-spoke alloy wheels - 19 inches up front and 20 inches at the rear - wear Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R rubber and are finished in gloss black. The big changes to the 600LT's design occur at the rear, where the exhaust has been rerouted for twin top-exit exhausts that guide exhaust gases over the fixed carbon-fiber rear wing. A large carbon fiber rear diffuserrounds off the design of McLaren's latest track toy.

Performance:-

The standard 570S, despite being McLaren's junior sports car, already surpasses expectations - accelerating as quickly as cars that cost twice as much, handling with finesse and agility, and communicating deftly with the pilot. The 600LT takes that recipe, adds two teaspoons or cement, and hardens it for track use. Power is dialed up by 30 hp and torque by 13 lb-ft courtesy of calibration changes to the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8, which now boasts stiffer engine mounts. The suspension has been stiffened by 13% and 34%, front and rear, the ride height lowered by 0.3 inches, the front track has been made 0.4 inches wider, and the steering has been made 4% quicker. Engineers worked on improving brake feel and response with a new brake booster, too, while the high-performance brakes now rest within the confines of lightweight alloy wheels wearing super-sticky Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R summer rubber. 0-60 mph takes 2.8 seconds, 0-124 takes 8.2 seconds, the quarter-mile is accomplished in 10.4 seconds and flat out, 204 mph is on the cards. But the focus here isn't for road-use, the 600LT is an all-out track tool that has cast aside creature comforts for the benefit of performance, and it has the 911 GT3 RS in its sights.

Gas Mileage:-

Fuel economy figures are hardly the reason to buy a track tool like the 600LT; when 592 horses run rampant down the back straight of Laguna Seca, gas mileage figures plummet. Still, should you be dedicated enough to drive the 600LT from home to the local track, McLaren claims it'll achieve estimates of 15/23/18 mpg city/highway/combined. With a 19-gallon gas tank and feeding on premium gasoline, you could, in theory, travel 342 miles in mixed conditions. We managed to cover around 250 miles on a tank driving mainly on the highway, so expect to take frequent trips to the gas.

Seating and Interior Space:-

In order to properly score a supercar's interior, you usually need a grading curve steep enough to forgive mail slot visibility and storage cubbies large enough for just a Tic Tac container. The 600LT tries to buck that convention, but at the end of the day it's still a supercar. Interior storage isn't bad-there's enough of it to fit the contents of a tight jean's pockets-but headroom and forwardvisibility are the 600LT's strong suits. Alcantara covered seats-the same ultra-lightweight units you get in the P1 or Senna depending on spec-place the occupants as low in the cabin as possible. That doesn't just reduce the center of gravity, it also means that two six-foot-tall occupants wearing racing helmets can sit inside.

Ample forward visibility is made possible by thin carbon fiber A-pillars, but thick B and C pillars means that looking over your shoulder won't reveal any information that the mirrors don't already supply.

What's the Price of the 2019 McLaren 600LT?

Getting behind the wheel of McLaren's range-topping Sports Series coupe, the 600LT, is no cheap feat, commanding a base price of $240,000 before options, licensing, registration, and delivery fees. This represents a $32,000 increase over the 570S and a $52,500 premium over the MSRP of a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. But with production limited to a 12-month span, limited availability means you're paying for more than just an incredibletrack day weapon, you're paying for exclusivity. The digital car key on your compatible iPhone allows you to conveniently and securely lock, unlock, and even start your BMW.

From now on you can use your iPhone as a key with a compatible BMW, with maximum security and data protection guaranteed. It even functions when your iPhone’s battery is dead and your smartphone shuts off. Depending on which iPhone you have, the key will still work for several hours. If you turn your iPhone off manually, the BMW Digital Key will only work once you turn your device back on.

HOW DOES THE BMW DIGITAL KEY WORK?

In order to unlock the driver’s door using the Digital Key, you must hold your iPhone with the back side up no farther than 1.5 inches away from the outside door handle. Your phone will only unlock the driver’s side door.

Using your BMW Digital Key for the first time is easy. Just place your iPhone in the smartphone holder of your vehicle and press the start/stop button.

Thanks to the preset Express Mode, your iPhone doesn’t need to be unlocked before opening the door or starting the car. You can disable this function manually, in which case identification via FaceID, TouchID or passcode is required to unlock and start the BMW.

And if someone else wants to drive your car, you can authorize up to five other people to use your BMW. All you need to do is send them an invitation from your smartphone and add them as a user. You can revoke this permission at any time. Only this key can add other people to the Apple Wallet.

You can also modify the access you grant others when you share your BMW Digital Key with them. You can grant full access or, if your son or daughter is learning to drive for example, you can check a box to limit their access. They will then have a Restricted Key, which limits how fast they can go and ensures that the Dynamic Stability Control and Intelligent Safety cannot be deactivated. The restrictions available vary depending on the vehicle you have.

HOW SAFE IS THE BMW DIGITAL KEY?

The digital key is saved on a certified, tamper-resistant and high-security NFC chip in your iPhone. The near-field communication technology guarantees the highest level of data protection, since the sender and receiver must be in close proximity to communicate. The new hue is a throwback to the Spa Yellow offered on the original NSX (it was referred to as Indy Yellow in some other markets), and it joins Berlina Black as one of the sports car's heritage colors.

Engine and Performance:-

While it will certainly satiate your need for speed, the NSX can't outpace some key rivals such as the Audi R8 or the McLaren 570S. In our testing, it still snapped off lightning-quick acceleration times and managed a 3.1-second run from zero to 60 mph. Its electric-only Quiet mode, however, gives it something its rivals don't have: discretion. The NSX's hybrid-electric powertrain combines a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 with three electric motors for a combined total of 573 horsepower. The V-6, the nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and one of the electric motors work as a team to power the rear wheels. The other two electric motors operate independently to drive the front wheels, effectively giving the NSX all-wheel drive.

In Quiet and Sport modes, the steering is direct and accurate but light to the touch, which we think is an attempt to make the NSX feel maneuverable on a day-to-day basis. Such a setup, however, feels out of place on such a performance-oriented vehicle. In Sport Plus and Track modes, the electric-power-steering system dials in more weight. Regardless of the setting, the steering is crisp, and the car responds smartly to the slightest of driver inputs.

Economy and Real-World MPG:-

Hybrid vehicles are more efficient in stop-and-go city traffic than their gasoline-only rivals, and the NSX is no different. An EPA rating of 21 mpg in the city beats the Audi R8 V-10 by a whopping 7 mpg. The Porsche 911 Carrera 4S matches the NSX's 21-mpg rating in the city and beats the NSX on the highway with a 28-mpg rating; the NSX is rated for 22 mpg highway. In our real-world highway fuel-economy test, the NSX delivered a decent 23 mpg, beating its EPA rating slightly but falling behind its nonhybrid rivals.

Interior and Comfort:-

Touted as the everyday supercar, the NSX is certainly comfortable and intuitive enough for just about anyone to use as a daily driver. But its cabin doesn't have the premium feel and luxurious amenities one expects from an Acura, let alone one that is meant to compete with the best from England and Germany. Our test car featured the optional leather-and-faux-suede seats, faux-suede headliner, and carbon-fiber-trimmed steering wheel. The bright red leather appealed to the younger among our staff, but some found it garish and juvenile. While the seats are comfortable, we'd prefer more thigh support, and enthusiastic drivers will likely desire more side bolstering as well.

For something marketed as the everyday supercar, the NSX's interior storage cubbies aren't especially commodious. Its trunk is located right behind the engine, which might be problematic for hauling home your Häagen-Dazs. Plus, we managed to fit just one of our carry-on suitcases inside the tiny trunk.

Infotainment and Connectivity:-

A 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with integrated navigation comes standard and is hooked up to an ELS Studio nine-speaker stereo. As with some other interior parts, the touchscreen system is taken from lesser Acuras and Hondas, and the same complaints we have about them apply here, too. The system's interface already looks outdated, and we found the menu setup to be unintuitive. To make matters worse, its lack of redundant buttons and the unwieldy touch-sensitive volume slider, which makes precise adjustments difficult, add an extra layer of complexity.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features:-

Its lack of driver-assistance features and absence of crash-test data might pose a concern for safety-minded consumers; neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety have completed crash testing for the NSX. A comprehensive standard airbag system provides an acceptable level of protection. Key safety features include:

Acura provides some of the most comprehensive coverage in the segment. While a four-year or 50,000-mile limited warranty is offered by Audi, BMW, and Porsche, none provide as much powertrain coverage as Acura. The NSX's sophisticated hybrid-electric components are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles.

Acura doesn't separate the NSX lineup into trims, so there's just a single model that you can customize to your liking. We dig bright colors, so opting for either the new-for-2020 Indy Yellow or Thermal Orange (which carries over from last year) is a must—either hue will cost you $1000. You can go nuts with the interior colors; none of them cost extra, and the schemes include indigo blue, red, saddle (brown), orchid (off-white), and ebony. If you can stomach their $9900 cost ($10,600 with your choice of silver, red, or orange calipers), the carbon-ceramic brake rotors are worth the upgrade if you plan to take your NSX to the track.

Is the Acura NSX a Good Car?

Yes, the NSX is a good luxury sports car. If it were ever inclined to get a tattoo, the ink would probably read, "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee." That quote encapsulates the mixture of power, speed, and refinement you'll find in this supercar. It's a joy to drive, whether your travels take you across town, through the countryside, or around the racetrack.

The uninitiated would never guess that underneath the NSX’s skin lies a sophisticated hybrid powertrain. The purpose of this high-tech system is not to improve fuel economy but to provide swift acceleration. It's a shame that this level of cutting-edge technology hasn’t found its way into the infotainment system. The NSX is also missing some of the lavishness and first-class add-ons that typically accompany a supercar in this price range.

The Final Call:-

The 2020 NSX stands out among its midengine brethren because it fuses superb acceleration – commendable at any racetrack – with polished performance that makes it easy to drive, no matter your experience with high-performance vehicles. Combined with its spacious seats, easy entry, and balanced suspension, this Acura emerges as one of the few exotic cars that you can happily drive every day.

Its main blemishes relate to lower-quality elements that seep in at the edges, with few upgrades available to gussy up the interior. Some shoppers will balk at paying such a high price for a luxury sports car without the benefit of newer technology or a more lavish interior.

Ferrari Roma “Supercar”

All of these exclamatory Italian adjectives apply to the positively beautiful Ferrari Roma. The shapely coupe is the latest model to come out of the company's Maranello headquarters and named after the country's capital—Rome. While its sheetmetal recalls Ferraris from the 50s and 60s, the grand tourer also hides serious performance hardware and cutting-edge technology. A 611-hp turbocharged V-8 is at its heart and specifically tuned to make beautiful music. Likewise, its lightweight components and myriad dynamic systems aim to make the Prancing Horse badge proud.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG:-

With a powerful engine and sporty pretensions, the Roma isn't fooling anyone that it's going to be especially fuel efficient. However, the EPA hasn't announced its estimated fuel economy and we won't know its real-world mpg until we have a chance to test it on our 200-mile highway route.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo:-

Stitched together with leather and swathed in faux-suede, the Roma's interior looks to mix upscale materials with a unique layout. Each front-seat passenger is cocooned by a sweeping dashboard that flows into the doors and floating center console. The driver faces a giant 16-inch fully digital gauge cluster that responds to haptic controls on the Roma's button-heavy, flat-bottom steering wheel. While a pair of rear seats make it a 2+2 coupe, we'd wager that the space is a place few people will want to use. Likewise, interior cubby storage looks scarce but the cargo area should have enough room to hold a couple of carry-on suitcases.

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage:-

Owning a Ferrari is obviously much different than owning a Toyota, since you're not likely to rack up thousands of miles a year. That's why its relatively short limited and powertrain coverages are not surprising. Still, the automaker provides lengthy complimentary maintenance and offers extended warranty plans.

THE PERFORMANCE:-

Supercar coupes are becoming quite popular now. With the first ones back in early 2010, coupe cars have got cheaper. I think supercar companies saw that these super coupes were dying down a bit because of the price drop but then I think Aston Martin saw a gap in the market and created the Zagato and then while Ferrari were busy making rubbish strategies in formula 1, a ferrari worker may have noticed the small little space left for them to make an original coupe, and that's what they done. They ended up coming up with a car called the Ferrari Roma which is currently priced at only £200,000. This is a great price for a brand new Ferrari and it is planned to be able to hit 200mph. Any way the Body-

BODY-WORK:-

Now we start with a completely new front end. About the only thing the same as an older Ferrari Coupe is the rims. The shape of the bonnet is completely new. The grill almost over hangs but not enough for the Roma to look ugly. Ferrari have nailed that spot where you have the grill either perfect, or, very ugly. They hit perfect. The new headlights are almost like that of the Senna, not the metal that goes around the headlights, just the headlights themselves. Unlike most modern supercars, there has been no wide kits put in which in a coupe you wouldn't expect but honestly, looking at how the future of supercar shapes look I'm a bit surprised. The Roma is quite slim as a car and hasn't gotten any wider than past coupes.

From here you get that kind of sneak peek of the rear lights. I don't find that in the nature of Ferrari that there cars are to look aggressive and give you that supercar feeling that the Ferrari will smash you. That's not to say they won't though. However, in the Roma well, terms and conditions don't apply, because this car from side on looks like its about to hit 100 mph faster than the Chiron. Anyway, seen as this is a Coupe, it only has 2 doors and an aggressive look, no fannsy gull-wings, just the Roma. And you know what, that's more than perfect. Although as we move onto the back, it still looks perfect and still looks like it's going to hit 100 mph faster than a Chiron.

From rear view the Roma does look like the SF90 but the coupe version. That's only from the rear. I love the exhausts on the Roma. The rigid shapes in them I have never seen before. The chunky bottom is very detailed but in white the Roma looks in its element.

INTERIOR:-

Now after thinking that the exterior is perfect I thought okay, now, there must be a little odd thing in the Roma that I could point out. But Nope. All good here! Because the interior is absolutely stunning. The steering wheel looks great. Still the old classic Ferrari steering wheel but I think it's almost a bit of a tweaked SF90 Stradale steering wheel. The driver and the passenger get almost like their own pod. Honestly, the driver gets a. Right how do I explain this? Ah yes, so you know the normal electric speedometer and all that fancy technology. The Roma has that but even more technologically advanced features. But instead of having this there, and that there. It's all in a comfortable area and not confusing. The passenger gets there own little screen to play with. The centre console is very nice but here, take a look yourself! Oh yes and those seats look very comfortable. I... I want to sit in one!

The Roma has the Interior, it has the perfect price, and, the perfect exterior, but, does it have the performance?

It is a cleverly executed design that will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of this machine.

To celebrate the 70th birthday of its company founder, Joop Donkervoort, Dutch firm Donkervoort Automobielen is launching a special edition version of its lightweight D8 GTO sports car. Dubbed the Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70, the limited-edition track car is powered by the same 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine as the Audi TT RS, uprated to 415 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque and paired with a close-ratio five-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels.

More than 95 percent of the D8 GTO-JD70's bodywork is made from carbon-fiber, which brings the car's weight down to under 1,543 pounds. As a result, 0-62 mph is achieved in just 2.7 seconds and 0-124 mph takes 7.7 seconds before the JD70 maxes out at 174 mph.

The rocket would be travelling at 20 metres per second, but the Dutch missile will be at 56m/s. Even then, the JD70 driver will have 0.3 seconds to spare, because it reaches the double century in just 7.7 seconds (after breaching 100km/h in only 2.7 seconds).

Not only that, but the five-cylinder, turbocharged engine is cleaner than ever, with just 191 grams/km of CO2 emissions, and even stronger at low revs.

Automobile History:-

The origins of the automotive industry are rooted in the development of the gasoline engine in the 1860s and ’70s, principally in France and Germany. By the beginning of the 20th century, German and French manufacturers had been joined by British, Italian, and American makers.Most early automobile companies were small shops, hundreds of which each produced a few handmade cars, and nearly all of which abandoned the business soon after going into it. When Were Cars Invented?

The 1901 Mercedes, designed by Wilhelm Maybach for Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft, deserves credit for being the first modern motorcar in all essentials.

Its thirty-five-horsepower engine weighed only fourteen pounds per horsepower, and it achieved a top speed of fifty-three miles per hour. By 1909, with the most integrated automobile factory in Europe, Daimler employed some seventeen hundred workers to produce fewer than a thousand cars per year.

Nothing illustrates the superiority of European design better than the sharp contrast between this first Mercedes model and Ransom E. Olds‘ 1901-1906 one-cylinder, three-horsepower, tiller-steered, curved-dash Oldsmobile, which was merely a motorized horse buggy. Performance:-

Electric motors can provide high power-to-weight ratios, batteries can be designed to supply the currents needed to support these motors. Electric motors have flat torque curve down to zero speed. For simplicity and reliability, many electric cars use fixed-ratio gearboxes and have no clutch.

Many electric cars have higher acceleration than average internal combustion cars, largely due to reduced drivetrain frictional losses, and the more quickly available torque of an electric motor. However Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs) may have a low acceleration due to their relatively weak motors.

Electric vehicles can also use a direct motor-to-wheel configuration that increases the available power. Having motors connected directly to each wheel simplifies using the motor for both propulsion and braking, increasing traction . Electric vehicles that lack an axel, differential, or transmission can have less drive-train inertia.

Good things about Electic Cars:-

Cheaper to run:-

A battery electric vehicle (BEV) has a lot less moving parts than a conventional petrol/diesel car. There is relatively little servicing and no expensive exhaust systems, starter motors, fuel injection systems, radiators and many other parts that aren’t needed in an EV.Batteries do wear out so replacement batteries will eventually be needed. Most car manufacturers warrant EV batteries for around 8 years.

Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) have a petrol engine that needs regular servicing so cost more to maintain. However, because the electrical motor requires little maintenance due to far fewer moving parts, this leads to less wear and tear of the petrol engine components.

Other savings:-

Some Australian states offer other savings for EV owners. EVs registered in the ACT are exempt from stamp-duty. EVs registered in Victoria receive a $100 reduction in registration fees each year.

Better for the environment:-

Less pollution: By choosing to drive an EV you are helping to reduce harmful air pollution from exhaust emissions. An EV has zero exhaust emissions.

Renewable energy: If you use renewable energy to recharge your EV, you can reduce your greenhouse gas emissions even further. Then, even if you recharge your EV from the grid, your greenhouse gas emissions are reduced.

The Ford Focus Electric is made up of recycled materials and the padding is made out of bio based materials. The Nissan Leaf’s interior and bodywork are partly made out of green materials such as recycled water bottles, plastic bags, old car parts and even second hand home appliances.

Health benefits:-

Reduced harmful exhaust emissions is good news for our health. Better air quality will lead to less health problems and costs caused by air pollution. EVs are also quieter than petrol/diesel vehicles, which means less noise pollution.

Safety improvements:-

Recent findings have shown that several EV features can improve safety. EVs tend to have a lower centre of gravity that makes them less likely to roll over. They can also have a lower risk for major fires or explosions and the body construction and durability of EVs may make them safer in a collision.

Our energy security:-

A self-driving car, also known as an autonomous vehicle (AV), connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV), driverless car, robo-car, or robotic car. A self driving car is a vehiclethat is capable of sensing its environment and moving safely with little or no human input.

Self-driving cars combine a variety of sensors to perceive their surroundings, such as radra, lidar, sonar, GPS, odometry and inertial measurements units. Advance control system interpret sensor information to identify appropriate navigation paths, as well as obstacles and relevant signage.

Automated vehicle" means a motor vehicle designed and constructed to move autonomously for certain periods of time without continuous driver supervision but in respect of which driver intervention is still expected or required.

Fully automated vehicle" means a motor vehicle that has been designed and constructed to move autonomously without any driver supervision.

It’s 2020. Where are our self-driving cars?

In 2020, you’ll be a “permanent backseat driver,” the Guardian predicted in 2015. “10 million self-driving cars will be on the road by 2020,” blared a Business Insider headline from 2016. Those declarations were accompanied by announcements from General Motors, Google’s

Waymo, Toyota, and Honda that they’d be making self-driving cars by 2020. Elon Musk forecast that Tesla would do it by 2018 — and then, when that failed, by 2020.

But the year is here — and the self-driving cars aren’t.

Despite extraordinary efforts from many of the leading names in tech and in automaking, fully autonomous cars are still out of reach except in special trial programs. You can buy a car that will automatically brake for you when it anticipates a collision, or one that helps keep you in your lane, or even a Tesla Model S (which — disclosure — my partner and I own) whose Autopilot mostly handles highway driving.

But almost every one of the above predictions has been rolled back as the engineering teams at those companies struggle to make self-driving cars work properly.

What is an Autonomous Car?

An autonomous car is a vehicle capable of sensing its environment and operating without human involvement. A human passenger is not required to take control of the vehicle at any time, nor is a human passenger required to be present in the vehicle at all. An autonomous car can go anywhere a traditional car goes and do everything that an experienced human driver does.

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) currently defines 6 levels of driving automation ranging from Level 0 (fully manual) to Level 5 (fully autonomous). These levels have been adopted by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

What are the benefits of autonomous cars?

The scenarios for convenience and quality-of-life improvements are limitless. The elderly and the physically disabled would have independence. If your kids were at summer camp and forgot their bathing suits and toothbrushes, the car could bring them the missing items. You could even send your dog to a veterinary appointment.

But the real promise of autonomous cars is the potential for dramatically lowering CO₂ emissions. In a recent study, experts identified three trends that, if adopted concurrently, would unleash the full potential of autonomous cars: vehicle automation, vehicle electrification, and ridesharing. By 2050, these “three revolutions in urban transportation” could:

Reduce traffic congestion (30% fewer vehicles on the road)
Cut transportation costs by 40% (in terms of vehicles, fuel, and infrastructure)
Improve walkability and livability
Free up parking lots for other uses (schools, parks, community centers)
Reduce urban CO₂ emissions by 80% worldwide

How do autonomous cars work?

Autonomous cars rely on sensors, actuators, complex algorithms, machine learning systems, and powerful processors to execute software.

Autonomous cars create and maintain a map of their surroundings based on a variety of sensors situated in different parts of the vehicle. Radar sensors monitor the position of nearby vehicles. Video cameras detect traffic lights, read road signs, track other vehicles, and look for pedestrians. Lidar (light detection and ranging) sensors bounce pulses of light off the car’s surroundings to measure distances, detect road edges, and identify lane markings. Ultrasonic sensors in the wheels detect curbs and other vehicles when parking.

Sophisticated software then processes all this sensory input, plots a path, and sends instructions to the car’s actuators, which control acceleration, braking, and steering. Hard-coded rules, obstacle avoidance algorithms, predictive modeling, and object recognition help the software follow traffic rules and navigate obstacles

What are the challenges with autonomous cars?

Fully autonomous (Level 5) cars are undergoing testing in several pockets of the world, but none are yet available to the general public. We’re still years away from that. The challenges range from the technological and legislative to the environmental and philosophical. Here are just some of the unknowns.

Lidar and Radar

Lidar is expensive and is still trying to strike the right balance between range and resolution. If multiple autonomous cars were to drive on the same road, would their lidar signals interfere with one another? And if multiple radio frequencies are available, will the frequency range be enough to support mass production of autonomous cars?

Weather Conditions

What happens when an autonomous car drives in heavy precipitation? If there’s a layer of snow on the road, lane dividers disappear. How will the cameras and sensors track lane markings if the markings are obscured by water, oil, ice, or debris?

Traffic Conditions and Laws

Will autonomous cars have trouble in tunnels or on bridges? How will they do in bumper-to-bumper traffic? Will autonomous cars be relegated to a specific lane? Will they be granted carpool lane access? And what about the fleet of legacy cars still sharing the roadways for the next 20 or 30 years?

State vs. Federal Regulation

The regulatory process in the U.S. has recently shifted from federal guidance to state-by-state mandates for autonomous cars. Some states have even proposed a per-mile tax on autonomous vehicles to prevent the rise of “zombie cars” driving around without passengers. Lawmakers have also written bills proposing that all autonomous cars must be zero-emission vehicles and have a panic button installed. But are the laws going to be different from state to state? Will you be able to cross state lines with an autonomous car?

Accident Liability

Who is liable for accidents caused by an autonomous car? The manufacturer? The human passenger? The latest blueprints suggest that a fully autonomous Level 5 car will not have a dashboard or a steering wheel, so a human passenger would not even have the option to take control of the vehicle in an emergency.

Artificial vs. Emotional Intelligence

Human drivers rely on subtle cues and non-verbal communication—like making eye contact with pedestrians or reading the facial expressions and body language of other drivers—to make split-second judgement calls and predict behaviors. Will autonomous cars be able to replicate this connection? Will they have the same life-saving instincts as human drivers?

Is Color Changing Cars Is Real??

In the last 10 year technology is generally going advance and dramatically. Processing power continues to increase and new ideas as to how to utilize this extra power continue to blow my mind. Often, I look at my social media feed and see a video of some new concept car doing something that seems unreal and impossible.

I’ve seen a few videos now of people standing next to their Car holding a remote control. They appear to press buttons on this control which then changes the color of the car. This doesn’t appear possible, I mean, how could this possibly work? But the videos seem so real or convincing and these days it is hard to distinguish between fact and fiction. So, I thought I would find out the truth, once and for all!

Can car change its color?

No, Car cannot change color. It is not scientifically possible with the current technology levels for paint (or a wrap) to change color when requested. There are YouTube videos that suggest this is the case but these are purely CGI effects.

A color-changing car is yet to be invented and I imagine the cost would be phenomenal. As yet, a Lamborghini changing color is not even a concept yet there are videos that show this happening – we explain how if you keep reading. For now, if you want it to change color, you’ll have to get your car wrapped!

What are wraps?

Wraps are becoming more and more popular these days and the technology is continuing to improve. Gone are the times when a wrap could damage your paintwork (assuming you go to a reputable supplier) and now it is very difficult to determine when a car is wrapped or whether it just has a nice paint job. Of course, having a wrap also has the advantage of protecting the paintwork, which, on a Lamborghini can cost as much as a small car to fix.

If you’re wondering how much it would cost you to get your Lambo wrapped, well you’d be looking at around $5k. This may sound a lot but when you consider it will last many years and has the advantage of protecting your car and it would save you on the initial cost of the expensive paint – it’s actually worthwhile. Also, you then have the option, of course, of changing the color of your car every so often!

What are the standard paint options?

Depending on which car you are looking at you will have the option of some basic ‘solid’ colors as well as the usual metallic, pearl and matt. There will most likely be a couple of solid colors that are available to you when buying the car which will cost you no additional cost.

Everything else will and Lamborghini know all too well that most people who buy one will want a different color. To give you some examples, additional solid color options will cost around $1,750 and metallic colors will cost around $2,250. A pearl effect finish will cost a little over $4,000 but if you fancy a matte color, well that’s typically going to cost you around the $15,000 mark.

To be fair though, the Lamborghini paint is of exceptionally high quality and the triple-layer paintwork gives a particularly pleasing, slightly pearlescent effect, especially in direct sunlight (example below).

It is because of these high prices that many people opt for the standard color and just get the car wrapped, which leads nicely onto the next section.

Can the Lambo change color?

Lamborghinis are many things to many people with some rather special specs – but they do not have the ability to be able to mysteriously somehow change color, regardless of what you’ve seen on YouTube. They are also unable to fly, go underwater or transform into a robot.

It’s getting more and more difficult these days to determine what is real life and what is CGI and some of the videos I’ve seen online where a Lambo somehow manages to change color are indeed quite impressive- but of course fake. However good the videos are, technology is not quite at the level yet to allow paint to change color using a remote control!

Would it be cool if it could? Absolutely and can you imagine the possible uses for it? Military jets would be able to appear practically invisible by changing color to their background. Houses and buildings could change color depending on the mood of the owner. It would revolutionize many industries and would no doubt be front-page news if true.

Probably the closest you can get to a color-changing Lamborghini is a paint that is sensitive to temperature and will change between two colors depending on what temperature the surface is. This is usually made noticeable by water, which cools the body down quickly, revealing the other color.

Alternatively, there are paints and wraps that have a color that can appear to change depending on the direction you’re looking at and also where the light source is. This gives the appearance of a petrol-type fluid and is often seen on TVR’s.

Conclusion:

There’s a very good reason why people manufacturer videos like the Lamborghini changing color on YouTube. There is the hope that they will go ‘viral’ and generate lots of views, which equates to cash. It is getting more and more difficult to differentiate between real-life and computer-generated imagery and in a few years, we really won’t be able to tell at all.

Often, there are clues in the video that suggest something isn’t quite right. For instance, when the color changes it should reflect that color on inanimate objects close by but usually, these things are overlooked by the producer. Which is understandable as it’s really not easy!

Bugatti Centodieci

The ten limited-edition vehicles are distinguished by their perfect elegance and sculptural beauty, making the Centodieci a true, tangible work of art.

The Bugatti Centodieci is a limited production mid-engine sports car produced by French Automotive manufacturer Bugatti. The car is an homage to the Bugatti EB110 and a celebration of the Bugatti marque's 110th birthday. The Centodieci is 20 kg lighter than the Bugatti Chiron, and has a 8,000 cc (8.0 L; 488.2 cu in) quad-turbocharged W16 engine, rated at 1,177 kW (1,600 PS; 1,578 hp) at 7,000 rpm. Production of the Centodieci will be limited to 10 units priced at 8 million euros (~$8.9 million)

CENTODIECI'S DESIGN:

The front end was redesigned to include some of the EB110’s main features. The headlamps were mounted higher in the fascia and are extremely thin now. Granted, the EB110 had bigger lights, but Bugatti probably wanted to preserve the Chiron’s familiar look as well. Based on the Chiron, the car takes design cues from the EB110 such as the five round air intakes which resemble a diamond and the wedge shaped design language.

A small horse shoe radiator grille present below the headlamps further harkens back to the EB110. Narrow headlights with LED daytime running function and sharp grooves are used to create an aggressive appearance. The rear consists of eight tail lights along with matt-black quad exhaust pipes placed on either side of a large diffuser, complete with an underbody spoiler and a fixed overhanging rear wing. Due to the use of computer assisted 3D design techniques and the use of Virtual Reality technology, the design team was able to complete the design of the Centodieci in six months

CENTODIECI'S SPEED:

The Centodieci races from zero to 62 mph in 2.4 seconds, to 124 mph in 6.1 seconds and to 186 mph in 13.1 seconds. Like its cousin the Chiron, Bugatti electronically limited the top speed of the car to 236 mph.

"With the Centodieci we pay homage to the EB110 super sports car which was built in the 1990s and is very much a part of our tradition-steeped history," Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann said in a press release. The EB110 is the only Bugatti produced under former Italian owner Romano Artioli at a factory in Campogalliano, Italy, and not at the company's famous chateau in Molsheim, France.

CENTODIECI'S POWER:

The Centodieci features the same quad-turbo 8.0-liter W-16 that Bugatti has been using in the Veyron and Chiron for more than a decade now. However, Bugatti upgraded the mill to extract a bit more oomph for the Centodieci. The engine generates 1,577 horsepower, 98 more than the regular Chiron and other versions of the supercar. Torque remains unchanged at 1,180 pound-feet.

At 1,577 horsepower, the Centodieci is not only the most powerful Chiron-based vehicle ever built, it’s also the most powerful Bugatti yet.

The Centodieci is also 44 pounds lighter than the Chiron. Bugatti brags that the weight loss results into a "sensational" power-to-weight ratio of 1.13 kilograms per horsepower, but this doesn’t seem very accurate since the 1,577 horsepower move a vehicle that tips the scales at around 1,958 kg (some 4,310 pounds). But needless to say, it’s impressive for the supercar world.

CENTODIECI'S INTERIOR:

Bugatti had nothing to say about the Centodieci’s interior and we don’t have any photos to look at either. But since Bugatti usually brags about its bespoke interiors in limited-edition cars, it’s safe to assume that the Centodieci doesn’t have a special interior. Sure, it probably features some badges and bespoke upholstery colors and stitching, but nothing beyond this.

It has a fully digital instrument cluster with TFT screens that integrate a navigation system and a speedometer that runs all the way up to 500 km/h (310 mph). The flat-bottom steering wheel features aluminum spokes and blue controls, while the seats provide support for spirited driving but are also comfortable for long trips. The package also includes a premium sound system with diamond membranes for the tweeters, silver emblems, and a cooled glove box.

The Centodieci that we see here is basically a Chiron in a new costume. It features various distinct design cues like the cheese-grater holes, air intakes on haunches, and the iconic Bugatti horseshoe grille. The rear end features a very complex design language which is accentuated by the huge wing and the complicated diffuser setup.But there is no hiding its underpinnings as the Chiron's bulk can be seen peeking out at various places. The wedge-shaped EB110 might not be the prettiest car from the bygone era but there is something to it that made it stand out from the crowd. It's an oddball, but in a weird and satisfying way.

A flying car is a type of personal air vehicle that provides door-to-door transportation by both road and air. many prototypes have been built since the first years of the twentieth century, but production status has still yet to be reached.flying cars are very much a reality, and every day we get another step closer to full-scale adoption and application of this technology. That may come as a surprise to some,there’s a lot of misinformation out there. That’s why, in this post, I’m going to provide a working definition of what flying cars actually are and an explanation of how they cleverly make use of features from helicopters and airplanes.

FLYING CARS:

“A flying car is a hybrid vehicle that combines fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft capabilities.”

Another way to understand this, is to think of a flying car as being part helicopter, and part airplane.

This is essentially a “mechanical” definition, but there is more to the flying car story than just mechanics. Software development in the field of autonomous systems is a crucial component in making these vehicles not just an interesting research project, but also an appealing business solution for transportation needs. In short, combined wing capabilities make flying cars possible, and autonomy makes them viable.

How Flying Cars Will Work:

Wouldn't it be great to be able to pack a few bags, grab your friends and fly anywhere in the world in your own personal jet anytime you want? The folks behind start-up "Terrafugia" hope to make your dreams come true by 2009 or 2010. Well, sort of. Change the dream to 'friend' and imagine the flight plan being somewhat limited.

The Terrafugia team is currently working on a personal air vehicle (known as the "Transition") that pretty much looks like an SUV with retractable wings. The Transition won't be able to whisk you off on a non-stop flight to any destination, but you will be able to get as far as 500 miles in one "jump." And, amazingly, the designers hope it will do it on a single tank of premium unleaded gas. Oh, and don't worry about having to rent a car once you reach your getaway -- as hinted at in its name, the Transition gets decent mileage on the road, too! (Planned vehicle specs: In flight, the Transition will fly up to 120 miles per hour and get 30 mpg. On the highway, it will get 40 mpg and around town, it will get 30 mpg.)

A full-size prototype is planned, but for now the designers are working with a one-fifth scale model in the wind tunnel and relying on computer simulations for development

History Of Flying Cars:

Just a decade and a half after the Wright Brothers took off in their airplane over the plains of Kitty Hawk, N.C., in 1903, other pioneering men began chasing the dream of a flying car. There was even one attempt in the 18th century to develop a gliding horse cart, which, to no great surprise, failed. There are nearly 80 patents on file at the United States Patent and Trademark Office for various kinds of flying cars. Some of these have actually flown. Most have not. And all have come up short of reaching the goal of the mass-produced flying car. Here's a look back at a few of the flying cars that distinguished themselves from the pack:

Curtiss Autoplane - In 1917, Glenn Curtiss, who could be called the father of the flying car, unveiled the first attempt at such a vehicle. His aluminum Autoplane sported three wings that spanned 40 feet (12.2 meters). The car's motor drove a four-bladed propeller at the rear of the car. The Autoplane never truly flew, but it did manage a few short hops.

Arrowbile - Developed by Waldo Waterman in 1937, the Arrowbile was a hybrid Studebaker-aircraft. Like the Autoplane, it too had a propeller attached to the rear of the vehicle. The three-wheeled car was powered by a typical 100-horsepower Studebaker engine. The wings detached for storage. A lack of funding killed the project.

Airphibian - Robert Fulton, who was a distant relative of the steam engine inventor, developed the Airphibian in 1946. Instead of adapting a car for flying, Fulton adapted a plane for the road. The wings and tail section of the plane could be removed to accommodate road travel, and the propeller could be stored inside the plane's fuselage. It took only five minutes to convert the plane into a car. The Airphibian was the first flying car to be certified by the Civil Aeronautics Administration, the predecessor of the the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It had a 150-horsepower, six-cylinder engine and could fly 120 miles per hour and drive at 50 mph. Despite his success, Fulton couldn't find a reliable financial backer for the Airphibian.

ConvAirCar - In the 1940s, Consolidated-Vultee developed a two-door sedan equipped with a detachable airplane unit. The ConvAirCar debuted in 1947, and offered one hour of flight and a gas mileage of 45 miles (72 kilometers) per gallon. Plans to market the car ended when it crashed on its third flight.

Avrocar - The first flying car designed for military use was the Avrocar, developed in a joint effort between Canadian and British military. The flying-saucer-like vehicle was supposed to be a lightweight air carrier that would move troops to the battlefield.

Renault has extended the suspension of its industrial activities in China into March because of the effects of the coronavirus outbreak. Renault's factory in Wuhan, which it operates with Dongfeng in a joint venture, will be closed until March 10.

PSA Group:

PSA's joint venture with Dongfeng Motor, called DPCA, has two assembly plants in China, in Wuhan and Chengdu. The plants produce Peugeot and Citroen models for the Chinese and other Asian markets. It also makes engines and transmissions at a factory in Xiangyang, some of which it exports to Europe. PSA has extended the suspension of its industrial activities in China into March because of the effects of the coronavirus outbreak.

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd:

Nissan Motor Co said it would keep its plants in Xianyang, Hubei Province, and Zhengzhou, Henan Province, shuttered after Feb. 24, when it had planned to resume operations. It did not give a new date for reopening.

Honda Motor Co., Inc:

Honda Motor Co will temporarily cut back production in Japan due to difficulty in sourcing parts from China amid the coronavirus outbreak. The cutbacks, which will last for a few days beginning early March, will see a reduction in output by a few hundred vehicles at two plants in Saitama Prefecture. Japan’s third-largest automaker has seen its profitability declined by more than half in the past two years, led by a series of quality-related issues.

Toyota Motors:

Toyota Motor Corp. on Wednesday said that operations at its plants in Japan may be affected by supply chain issues linked to the new coronavirus outbreak in the coming weeks, as the global outbreak gathers pace.

Aptiv PLC:

Automotive technology supplier Aptiv PLC said the coronavirus outbreak in China has hurt revenue by $150 million to $200 million and operating income by $60 million to $80 million.

Hyundai Motors:

Hyundai Motor Company has shut down one of its car factories in South Korea after it was revealed an employee had contracted the novel coronavirus. The company has started disinfection procedures in areas where the employee worked and quarantined five co-workers who made close contact with the infected employee.

Mahindraan Mahindra:

M&M has reported a 42 percent decline in total sales at 32,476 units in February.

MG Motor India:

MG Motor India too reported lower retail sales of 1,376 units in February, hit by component supply constraints from China and other locations.

TATA Motors:

TATA Motors said that vehicle production is affected due to the Coronavirus outbreak in China.

Tesla, Inc:

Tesla has shed 25% at the end of February due to coronavirus outbreak weighs on the broader market.
There could be further pain ahead of China's struggling automotive industry and Tesla, which had to shut its Shanghai Gigafactory in early February due to the virus outbreak.

Mitsubishi Motors Corp:

Mitsubishi Motors has postponed the restart of its factory with Guangzhou Automobile Group in Hunan province until 27 of February due to the coronavirus outbreak.

KIA Motors:

Magna International Inc:

Magna has 54 manufacturing plants located in China employing 18,750 people. Walker said there are still “a couple” plants down in Wuhan, the city at the center of the coronavirus outbreak. The factories that are back up and running are operating at between 50 to 80 percent capacity.

Around 150 employees of BMW in Munich have been ordered to ‘self-quarantine’ after a worker in the carmaker’s research and development center tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus strain.

The Lamborghini Sian represents the Raging Bull's first hybrid production supercar. The supercapacitor unit is integrated with the electric motor into the gearbox in order for a better weight distribution. Supercapacitors were chosen due to their ability to store three times the power of a conventional lithium ion battery of the same capacity. The unit installed in the car is an evolution of the Aventador's starter motor and can store ten times more power than the unit it is based on. A regenerative braking system helps generate enough energy to recharge the supercapacitors. The electric motor counters the effect of deceleration and provides a power boost to the driver at speeds up to 130 km/h (81 mph). The motor supports low speed maneuvers such as parking and reversing.

Theimprovements made to the car allow it to achieve a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time of 2.8 seconds and allow it to attain an electronically limited top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph) but the official top speed is yet to be confirmed.

Bugatti once again broke the record for the fastest road car. Andy Wallace took a modified Chiron past 300mph (482km/h) to a record 304.77mph (490.48km/h) at the Ehra-Lessien test track in Germany. To celebrate, Bugatti is producing 30 versions of the monumental prototype, fittingly called the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+.

It’s making its official debut at this month’s Frankfurt Motor Show and Bugatti has confirmed the price tag is a cool €3.5 million (A$5.6 million).

The Super Sport 300+ isn’t identical to the prototype but it’s damn near close. A passenger seat has returned to the Chiron’s cabin in place of the prototype’s GPS and timing equipment. The roll cage is also gone, while the ride height has been returned to normal and the wheels are different. Otherwise this beast is virtually identical to the prototype and it’s good to go for a sprint to 300mph. Well, not quite – Bugatti said it will have a speed limiter. President Stephan Winkelmann told Motor1.com the Super Sport 300+ will be limited to 273mph (440km/h).

#6. SSC Ultimate Aero - 256mph

The SSC Ultimate Aero was developed under Jerod Shelby to beat the Bugatti Veyron. This particular version is the Ultimate Aero, one of the final iterations of the SSC platform. It uses a 6.3 litre V8 engine and produces around 1,300 hp with torque of 1,112 lb ft. Over the standard model, this version benefitted from increased airflow, better aerodynamics and an aero brake system.

A very rare hypercar hit the market recently. This SSC Ultimate Aero was listed for sale on Du Pont Registry. For those that don’t remember the Ultimate Aero, it held the Guinness World Record for the fastest production car from 2007 to 2010 with a speed of 256.18 mph (412.28 km/h).

The version listed on Du Pont Registry has an asking price of $225,000 and is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It’s not known how many SSC Ultimate Aero’s were produced. We don’t see very many of the so, at a guess, we suspect the total number to be less than 100.

#7. Koenigsegg CCR - 242mph

The CCR was an evolution of the CC8S, produced between 2004 and 2006. The CCR was produced in 14 examples in total.

Compared to the CC8S, The CCR featured an upgraded body design, a larger front splitter, a rear wing, larger brakes, new enlarged tires and wheels plus upgraded chassis and suspension. The CCR also had a more powerful engine with twin compressors, producing an astonishing 806 hp. All in all, the CCR had a more racing car-like stance and appearance compared to the more elegant CC8S.

The CCR managed to take the Guinness record for the world’s fastest production car at the Nardo test track in Italy, in February 2005. The CCR reached 388 km/h, beating the 8 year old record set by the inspirational Mclaren F1. The CCR went on to set records at the Nürburgring and at various other tracks.

The CCR still has performance that can match or beat many of the latest hypercars. It truly was a car before its time.

#8. McLaren F1 - 241mph

Wallace, who says now that he was "younger and more stupid in those days," leaped at the opportunity to drive the F1 "really fast." The car used for the record was McLaren's fifth experimental prototype, or XP5 in McLaren speak, which was five years old at the time.

On his first run Wallace hit an indicated 388 km/h (241.1 mph), but he knew the car had a bit more to give. He asked the technicians for more revs, and set out again. With the rev limiter removed, he hit 391 km/h (242.956 mph), and called it a day.

Top speed records are averaged between two runs in opposite direction to account for wind, so the McLaren's official top speed record calculated out to 240.1 mph. That record has since been beaten by the Bugatti Veyron and others, but the F1 remains the fastest naturally aspirated production car ever built. It's doubtful any new car will come along to beat it.

#9. Zenvo ST1 - 233mph

The objective, according to company boss Jesper Jensen, was not to build a road rocket that could outdo the Veyron in terms of raw pace (although the claimed figures – 0-62mph in 3.0sec and 233mph max - aren’t too shabby)

The car you see here is the prototype, which has clocked up more than 45,000 miles - and isn't looking at all shabby for it.

The V8 motor is roused into action by twisting an ignition knob on the centre console to the right, depressing the clutch and then pressing the start button atop the chunky piston-shaped gearlever while simultaneously giving the gas pedal a generous prod or two. The 7.0-litre motor erupts into life with a raucous bark, but it immediately settles into a civilised idle.
