So. How to you catch up a blog when you haven’t written in a long time?

Since my last post was about Jack and Jill, I’ll start there.

Before that year was out Jack had disappeared and Jill had produced back-to-back litters of kittens. The first a litter of two, then a litter of three only 7 months apart.

Jill was very crafty at avoiding being trapped. I finally got her though and she was been spayed. Her children: Romeo and Juliet (litter #1) and Abby, Sweet Annie, and Dolly (litter #2) have also been spayed and neutered. All live inside and all are fat and sassy.

They are a mixed lot when it comes to being petted. Jill, Romeo and Dolly are still shy and not willing to be handled very much. Juliet, Abby, and Sweet Annie are willing to be petted. Juliet is a love-bug and would never be thought to have been feral.

Other news is that our Jay-Jay and Tigger have both crossed the Bridge. Jay-Jay had suffered for years with Cushings Disease. He passed from kidney failure in October, 2015. His best buddy, Tigger, passed in February, 2016 from a heart attack.

The latest addition to the family is Lady Bug. She is a black Cavalier King Charles Spaniel mix. (More about her later.)

Many things have happened over the past three years. I couldn’t get to the blog, and as Miss Amber will surely tell you, I never left the cat-puter open when I wasn’t around so that she could write. (Believe me, she has nagged plenty about that oversight.)

So, shall we try this again? I think so and Miss Amber agrees.

Bright Blessings,

Kitty Mommy

Every spring some human or another decides this neighborhood looks like a good place to drop out their unwanted kittens. Four years ago it was Sugar and Spice. Last year it was Creamy and his two siblings. Creamy is still alive, I don’t think his litter mates were so lucky. They were older kittens and too wild and scared to be tamed. Creamy is full grown now and comes by to eat a couple of times a day. A feral that didn’t have to be.

Now there are more. This years throw-away kittens. They are 2 silver tabbies. Cute little things. They were tossed about a month ago, and found their way here. They were terrified and distrustful, but very hungry.

They still run when they see me, but will stop when I call them and come for their food. I’ve not been able to touch them yet. One is male and we assume the smaller a female. Thus they have been named Jack and Jill.

Jack is much less fearful than Jill. Isn’t he a handsome lad?

I want to get these two tame enough to at least get them spayed and neutered. Wish me luck on that. I need it. Meanwhile, Jack is getting tamer. Here he is happily rolling on Kitty Daddy’s wheelchair ramp while sister Jill decides whether its safe enough to get a bite of food with me standing at the door. We’ll keep you posted.

Thank you for all that you do for your two and four legged babies. Mom’s are very special creatures.

Precious is the only mom-cat here. She is mom-cat to Mikey, Tigger, Maggie Mae and Amber. She steps in as foster mom-cat whenever our human mommy adopts another throw-away kitten.

We hope all our kitty furriends and their people had a great New Year’s Day. Our Mommy had the day off work, so we had plenty of time to snuggle with her.

We told her that our resolution was to write our blog more often. We reminded her that she has been neglecting her typist duties. If she isn’t going to type for us then she had better start leaving the laptop open so we can do it ourselves.

She seemed to understand that we are serious and that failure to heed our warning WILL lead to sleep disturbances.

So, lets all have a fabulous 2014, full of catnip, red dot chases, and snuggles. And naps.

Blue doesn’t stay inside much. He’s a real outdoorsman. Blue hunts and brings “gifts” of birdies and mousies to Mommy. Last week he brought her a chipmunk!

Mommy feeds the chipmunks and begged Blue not to kill any more of them. Of course he told her he wouldn’t, but being a brave hunter’, he probably will.

Blue loves being petted and loves to sit in our Daddy’s lap.

We are a tiny bit jealous of him for that. We consider Daddy our private property.

Mommy had a good laugh at Tigger. When he saw her get the carrier out for Thomas, panic set in and he ran for the hills… ugh, basement. Mommy didn’t see him again until midafternoon. About the time Tigger did come out of hiding, Mommy was getting out another carrier. Angel was going with Mommy to get a checkup and shots when she went to pickup Thomas. Poor brother Tigger raced off again.

Miss Angel had to wait to see Dr. Kevin because an emergency came in. A poor little dog came in, he was in really bad shape. His mommy thought he had been hit by a car. It turned out he had been attacked by a much bigger dog.

Angel was scared and tried to hide in the back of the carrier. She didn’t want to come out to be weighed and examined. Mommy got her out and she was a well-behaved little lady during her checkup. She is a big girl now: 10 pounds of kitty cat. Her heart is ok. That had worried Mommy cause kitties with her birth defect often develop heart problems. Dr. Kevin was very pleased with her. He gave her two vaccinations and she didn’t flinch or make a sound. (Angel is a brave kitty.)

Thomas is doing really good with his mouth. He has stitches that have to be removed next week. He is eating and sleeping and when awake being his normal self. Angel is doing well too. Mommy thinks she felt bad this morning, but that’s normal after vaccinations.

Tigger finally came out of hiding after he figured out he wasn’t the vet-bound kitty. The rest of us teased him for being scared for nothing.

We have been absent from our blog and absent from our Face Book page and absent from everywhere online. We are the bad kitties for sure.

Its Mommy’s fault. She goes to this place called “work” every day and leaves us here with Daddy. That’s OK, Daddy takes good care of us. However, he doesn’t speak cat the way Mommy does and doesn’t like catputers either, so we are left here without a bilingual person who can run the catputer and it has been a cat-tastrophy as far as keeping up with our friends is concerned. Growl.

To top all that off, Mommy has “rediscovered’ knitting. Well! The woman is absolutely obsessed. Every chance she gets she has these little sticks and string! String that she pulls off a ball that rolls on the couch and looks so tempting to a bunch of kitties! How can she be so cruel? And she refuses to let us play with it. Especially since Precious ate some little bites of the stuff and then hacked it up everywhere. Mommy almost had a cow!

Oh sure, she has made our doggy brother Jay-Jay some cute sweaters and Daddy some socks, and her great-grand children some sweaters. That’s great , but we haven’t even gotten a soft fluffy blanket out of her. (She better think twice about putting those cute animal sweaters on us.)

And our catputer time? Well, talk to the woman with a powered down catputer and sticks and string. She is inhibiting our creativity while satisfying her own. How dare she treat us this way?

There’s a cat uprising brewing around here. That’s a fact.

Purrs, Miss Amber

Miss Lisa died last Saturday night at almost midnight. Her kidneys failed. Dr. Kevin said she was not in pain. Just very old and fading away. So I waited and loved her as I watched her fade.

It became a challenge to get her to eat. The other cats thought that was ok, as they got her left-overs and grew even fatter and she grew thinner.

Anyway, Miss Lisa has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. The 17 years she spent with us were a blessing. She loved us completely and we loved her to the bottom of our hearts.

As Miss Amber said on Facebook. “We have a sad.”

By Amber

Yesterday was our doggie brother, Jay-Jay’s, birthday. He is now 13 human years old. That makes him the third oldest of our gang…Lisa at 16 1/2 and Thomas T. at 14 are the oldest.

Mommy went shopping and brought back fried chicken. (Jay-Jay’s favorite food is chicken.) She gave him all he wanted. (We didn’t know he could hold that much chicken!)

Jay had a very happy birthday. He ate chicken, played with his toys and slept in the recliner next to Daddy. He was a happy doggie.

Miss Lisa has learned that she has to eat goopy stuff twice a day.

She is not a happy kitty.

The goopy stuff is a vitamin supplement. Miss Lisa does not like it so Mommy puts it in a kitty feeding syringe and gives it to her the hard way. Once Mommy starts giving it to her she eats it just fine. I think she is keeping up the “I don’t like it” act way past being reasonable.

Yesterday Mommy opened a new package of Kitty Spring toys. Angel loves them and will swat, chase, and carry them all over the cottage. By this morning Angel had lost nearly all of them.

Angel’s toys usually end up under the range in the kitchen. Mommy is going to have to get down there and fish them out before we have a shortage. After all, the rest of us like to play with spring toys too.
