before Johnny Knoxville and his pals were sticking fireworks up their butts, snorting wasabi, and taking a shock to the gonads (à la the childhood game, Operation), in the far off land of Ontario, Canada reigned another daredevil—a man named Ralph Zavadil, a.k.a. Cap’n Video. Just as we all winced when Knoxville tore his uretha, community access viewers of the '90s cringed as Cap'n Video bounced off concrete and broke his neck... until Zavadil was arrested for trafficking and disappeared from the public eye. (Trafficking what exactly? I can't find the answer anywhere, if anybody knows the specific charge, please comment below.)

After a 15 year departure from public eye, Zavadil returns to the screen in director Jay Cheel's new documentary film Beauty Day, screening at the MoMA on March 20th.

"After a serious on-camera accident and a controversial Easter episode, the Cap'n was pulled from the airwaves and eventually faded away into community cable obscurity. Now, fifteen years later, Ralph has decided to revisit the Cap'n in celebration of the 20th birthday of the creation of the character. With the help of his best friend Robert, he'll attempt to get back on the air one last time and give the Cap'n the send off he deserves. In the process, we revisit all of the ups and downs in Ralph's life and learn that those who are truly passionate about their art always manage to find an outlet and surround themselves with like minded, creative people."

2011-02-18T12:38:00.000-05:00

yestarday my friend found a land where we can begin our project and this is the house i will built

You are looking at pictures of a house I built for our family in Wales. It was built by myself and my father in law with help from passers by and visiting friends. 4 months after starting we were moved in and cosy. I estimate 1000-1500 man hours and £3000 put in to this point. Not really so much in house buying terms (roughly £60/sq m excluding labour).

Open Source Ecology is a movement dedicated to the collaborative development of tools for replicable, open source, modern off-grid "resilient communities." By using permaculture and digital fabrication together to provide for basic needs and open source methodology to allow low cost replication of the entire operation, we hope to empower anyone who desires to move beyond the struggle for survival and "evolve to freedom."

By our analysis, most of the technologies needed for a sustainable and pleasant standard of living could be reduced to the cost of scrap metal + labor. There is immense potential for social transformation once this technology is fully developed for building interconnected self-sufficient communities, since people will be freed from material constraints and able to seek self-actualization.

We understand that this is an ambitious task, but we have accomplished much and are making rapid progress. Factor e Farm is the land-based facility where we are putting this theory into practice. Our means of achieving these goals are meticulously detailed in the "Global Village Construction Set" and the OSE Proposal.

The secret of healthy eating is no secret at all. Just buy fresh ingredients – preferably natural and unprocessed – and cook them yourself from scratch. This is an excellent recipe for avoiding obesity. Many people believe that, if only the poor had better access to leafy greens, they’d be a whole lot better off.

The Freakishly Rugged Advanced Genetics Galactic Enforcement Division (AKA F.R.A.G.G.E.D) specializes in the development and deployment of superhuman special agents. Headed since its formation by the brilliant soldier-turned-scientist Mother Gun, its current roster consists of only two active field operatives, code-named Percy and Francis Gun. Their lifelong mission: to protect the cosmos from the Tyrannical Oppressors of Life known as T.O.O.L.

Like a super-powered fungus gone haywire, the evil T.O.O.L organization has grown from the dankest levels of the criminal underworld to spread its own brand of malevolent funk to every corner of the galaxy. Most recently, they’ve set their sights on harvesting the rare element Xplodium in an effort to create even more powerful weapons to enslave the universe… But not if the GUN BROS have anything to do about it!
