We followed the Husker Softball Team through their great season, the Big 10 Tournament, Regionals and Super Regionals….and much to our delight, they made the trip to OKC too!

With my change in job this spring, I was not able to take enough PTO for the entire series.  Therefore we missed Nebraska’s first game (and the tornadoes).  We made up for it though…as we were in attendance for the heart breaking loss in 15 innings over 5 1/2 hours to Florida.  The ladies from Nebraska played their hearts out.  I was so proud to be a Husker fan that day!

The next morning we took the interstate south to Moore.   We drove a few blocks through town–words can not describe the devastation.

Ugh.

This is really the first year that I have dreaded “getting older”!   It certainly was a strange birthday…I was on call for the pharmacy, Brent was working, and I attended my nephew’s baptism…..we weren’t home, we weren’t doing anything out of the ordinary.  No big celebration this year, I must really be getting old!   Luckily, I have a great husband that made me feel pretty special for my birthday (not to mention…a Husker Softball victory at Super Regionals and of course, cuddling with the sweetest puppy around!)

While at work (a busy shift for the pre-holiday rush) I was surprised with the most beautiful (and huge) bouquet! We also enjoyed some pretty fabulous cupcakes!

I was later spoiled with some really thoughtful gifts!  I love my man!

A Kindle!  This may be a gift to both Brent and I…since he has dealt with the bedside lamp during my late night reading.  Seriously…how cute is my Dachshund key chain, ring, and poster?!?!?

And sweet baby Owen was a perfect during the service.

Dear Max,

Has it really been three years since we welcomed you into this world?

You came into this world on April 8, 2010 at 7:48 pm weighing 8 pounds and 3 ounces.  I first saw you when your daddy wheeled you down the hall from the delivery room.  All I could think was how perfect you were.   In that moment you captured my heart.  You won’t remember the day you were born, but always know that you changed a lot of lives that day.  On that day, many people opened their hearts and found more love than they ever knew they had, and it was all for you.  You are the best thing that has happened to your parents since they fell in love with each other.  And you have brought so much joy to 4 grandparents, 6 great grandparents, 3 aunts, 2 uncles, and so many others.  From that day on, you have been my beloved comic, my joy, and my light on the toughest days.  I think of you each and every day.  I am so blessed to be your auntie.

Today, you turn three years old.  I can’t believe how fast time flies.  It seems like only yesterday your mommy trusted me with the joyous secret of your existence.  We could have never imagined what a blessing you would be.  How can you already be so tall and so smart?  It wasn’t that long ago when your daddy and I witnessed your first step (don’t tell your mom).  Please slow down little man.  I know you will grow up to amaze us all, but until then lets enjoy every minute.

You have captured my heart for three years and amaze me everyday.  You are pure joy.  I love you more than words could say.  I hope you know just how special you are.
