I had a fantastic time in Nashville at the JOLT event meeting so many inspiring. . truly inspiring ladies! It was my first time to Nashville and it began quite eventfully, with a cracked windshield on the way down, getting pulled over (and let go with a warning. . .whew!) by a police man, and seeing a completely butt naked man running down the sidewalk screaming, "Wahooooo!"! We figure he lost a bet. ;-) Anyhow. . .I came away drenched with inspiration and cannot wait to apply what I've learned and my head is swimming with ideas. Thank you Kelli Trontell and Vanessa Warren for putting together such an affordable, fun and informative event!

I loooove to browse online sites and magazines to get ideas for how to hang things in my own house. . .everything from my own art to art purchased on Etsy and especially pictures! I am going to start featuring/linking to examples and inspiration from these sites so you can start your own "Art Wall" at home. :) I would also love to see how you display your photos from our session in your homes, so feel free to email me with photos of how you've hung or displayed your pictures.

I've been busy busy doing photo sessions for the holidays! The weather has held off (until now!). I'm behind on posting, but here is a recent one with one of the most beautiful families I know! I had a great time, wish I could spend more time with this sweet family.

I just love this time of year. I love the sights, I love to bake, and one of my favorite things to do. . .shop! Of course, avoiding the crowds is a must! That's why I have invited a few of my favorite vendors, so YOU can do a little shopping (and eating!) minus the big crowds! How are "Mini Sessions" different from a regular "Portrait Session"? In a regular portrait session, I spend a minimum of an hour with your family at a location of your choosing and you get a gallery of 25-40 edited images. A mini session is a 20 minute session where you get a gallery of 5-10 edited images. We meet at a park location and the packages offered are different from my normal packages.

This is a great way to get a jump start on the Holiday season. Not only do portraits make great gifts, but the cards I'm offering this year double as ornaments! :) Take a peek. . .

I received my new backdrop in the mail this week and could not WAIT to break it out and play with it! So, thankfully I have 3 little girlies who can model for me (one of which was at Grandmas, so she isn't pictured).

I think this backdrop is beautiful for "boutique" and fantasy type portraits. I am planning on having a mini session date set in the fall sometime (think Christmas cards!). I'll be posting details on that coming up. In the meantime, we broke out our best Matilda Jane duds and played around.

Can ya tell she was getting a little impatient with me at this point? :)

I have NO idea how my daughter wound up with all of that hair, I certainly have never had thick hair! She hates it now, but one day she will thank me for not letting her chop it off! ;-) Poor thing is always walking into the room with it tucked in her shirt trying to convince me that it would look sooo much better short!

Hello! Welcome to my new photography blog. I will use this place to show you creative ways to display your photos and wall art, share sessions and upcoming specials with you, and fun products that I carry now and others that I will be carrying soon (you will love them!).
One of my favorite things to do with photos, once they're printed out, is figure out how to creatively display them in my home. I love to buy fun clips and shadowboxes and unusual things to use to display my photos.
This girl (famous in the scrapbooking world. . .Elizabeth Kartchner) has a tutorial on unique wall displays using shadow boxes that I LOVE! It is worth a look if you have shadowboxes that you do not know how to use or fill. What a great way to use those photos and mementos.

Another unique way to display your fave mementos and photos is using a large picture frame. You can find these in thrift stores or garage sales or you may already have one laying around in the attic. They are fun to give makeovers with a fresh coat of paint, or you can leave them as is, which could add to the interest if they are distressed. Simply use eye screws and wire to make these and clip your items to the wire. You could also use a staple gun and ribbon as an alternative. Think outside the box. A hot trend right now are polaroid photos, polaroid photo frames. There is even a cute new camera called Instax, that is made by fuji. It prints out business card sized photos that resemble the polaroid. These are fun to creatively display around your home.

You may not even think to use things you already have around the house, but clipboards are another great way to display your favorite pictures or artwork.

Inspiration is everywhere for these. Do a search on flickr, or browse through your favorite home decor catalogues (think Pottery Barn), scrapbooking websites are great resource for how to creatively display photos. My two favorite are this one and this one.
