this is one ride I would never like to see. This ride disrespects the records and should have to be freestanding to own the record! Not launching at insane speeds, this ride is trash, BURN THE PLANS!

I was most fortunate to be on the first public ride of the Orient Express, and was devastated when it was taken out of WoF.

Nothing I have ridden since has been as glorious as the Orient Express. Sure there have been other amazing coasters, but the sheer awesomeness of the “Oreo Express” as my sister & I used to call it cannot be equalled.

While not extremely well known by enthusiasts, US Thrill Rides has been in the business for quite some time and are a major player in the industry. Most people don’t realize the plethora of attractions they have created and currently have the largest collection of rides installed around the world; more than any other ride manufacturer (they are the inventors of the SkyCoaster http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skycoaster among other things).

As ProfBAM said, the PolerCoaster is a collaboration between US Thrill Rides and S&S. So while US Thrill Rides themselves are not a roller coaster manufacturer, they are one of the top companies in the ride manufacturing world.

They liaise with Chance on the Unicoaster and I believe that they also work with S&S on the coaster itself.

So basically, this will be an extreme version of one of those Toboggan rides you used to see at the local fair.

It’s such a shame to see what’s become of the old Riverside Cyclone. The old Cyclone was my first big wooden coaster, back around 1990 or so; it terrified me then, as it should have anyone at my age, and barely tall enough to get on it, but it was also the ride that made me fall in love with wooden coasters. It was fast, out of control, just rough enough to be wild without hurting you…it was a near perfect ride. I’d be so happy to ride that coaster again, but unfortunately it doesn’t exist.

The Six Flags Cyclone might look something like the Riverside Cyclone and share some of its structure, but it’s as close a ride to it as Mind Eraser is to Montu. It no longer has any of what made it a classic.

I’m sorry that you only had the chance to ride it in its tragic state now, instead of what it once was. These days, though, there just might be hope again. I’ve been hearing so much about how SFNE is beginning to improve again, and other SF parks have been saving their neglected, nearly hopeless old coasters. I’d be happiest to see Cyclone restored back to its original form, but the Rocky Mountain Iron Horse treatment might just make it something special again, too, and I’ve heard quite a few rumors that that just might be a possibility…

I like the idea of the stand up coaster and always have. But agree when you said it doesn’t add much to the looping coaster.

Just more greedy reason for get a penny out of paying customers ALREADY, heck the freaken parking lot fee wasn’t good enough , or how about the ever rising park ticket… Sad.. I remember back in the days it was only $20ish, then $30ish, I do hope someday they’ll get it when they raise the price so high that no one will go.. And wonder why is there a lack of people….
Anyway I say if you have small children and want to JUST go to the dino place then freaken charge parking and the $5, yeah how about that… Or is that too much for them to handle…

By far the best wooden coaster I have even on. At this time it also ranks as the best coaster I have been on. The steep drop at the beginning and numerous corkscrews my family rode it several times.

I finally got my chance to ride Gatekeeper with 4 other people. We all had the same feeling when we got off. BLAH. We were not impressed at all, we even rode it again and switched sides. For all the hype this ride garnered it was a real let down. Ride it to say you did if the line is short, but if the line is long you’ll have more fun on any other coaster in the park.
