Here is my money saving tip of the week. If your hair is dry and brittle you can use coconut oil to eliminate dryness. Coconut oil has a lot of uses; it can be used as a moisturizer for your skin, hair, serve as a cooking oil, assist in maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, assist with digestion, and help increase metabolism. The benefits of coconut oil can be attributed to the presence of lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid, and its properties such as antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-fungal, antibacterial, soothing, etc. Last but not least it smells so yummy.

I got an email yesterday from one of my followers who asked if “growing dandruff a sign of hair growth”? I thought that this would be a good for me to respond to online.

To answer my reader’s question “growing dandruff” is a myth. Dandruff medical term pityriasis which consists of small, white scales that usually appear on the scalp and hair. This scalp condition is a result of the following a sluggish scalp caused by poor circulation, lack of nerve stimulation, improper diet, emotional or glandular disturbances, or uncleanness for examples using dirty combs or brushes. If dandruff is left untreated hair loss can occur.

To treat this scalp condition you can use medicated shampoo or a more natural method like henna or vinegar. Just note if you have hair dye in your hair vinegar can change your hair color .

I have been natural off and on since 2004. I started my loc journey January 2008. I wasn’t educated on the process or the proper products to grow and maintain healthy locs. After my 2nd visit I realized that I could no longer afford to continue visits to my locthican (I was newly laid off and was pinching pennies). I noticed that the loctican was using black protein gel on my locs ( something about that didn’t seem right to me.) I joined a few hair care forums and realized that I needed to invest in natural products and read labels. I made a trip to my local beauty supply store and broke down in frustration over the lack of “genuine” all natural products available. Most were laced with mineral oil, petroleum, or wax. The ladies on the forum had scared me into NOT using any products that contained anything artificial. I then turned to You Tube- and learned how to whip shea butter. Hey Naturals Girls, I am loving my hair today! This is what I call my fairytale look aka my innocent look. My husband loves this look. My hair has been blown straight, flat ironed, and trimmed. It was time for a trim ladies and I am loving my healthy head of hair. Guess what? My hubby liked my hair but he actually told me that he missed my curly hair…go figure! Huh…men

Look at me with straight hair, I was so freaked out on Friday because my hair was so straight it felt weird. I like it but it was so weird because I did not know how to style my hair and I am a stylist. I have had my hair curly for only 2 ½ years and I have lost all my knowledge dealing with straight hair LOL. That is so crazy…Zora signing out and that’s the 411.
