The ideas in the normalize.css and responsive web design ideas are something that we’re keen to start to implement as soon as possible, which is the thrust of my work today.  Entirely re-writing the main header for our templates, to incorporate all these ideas and concepts, as well as pushing the SEO of all our header information.

We started using the Dublin Core concepts about 2-3 years ago and we’re still to see a wide take up of the concept, however we’ve tightly improved our dublin core integration and added in as much information as we possibly can, to make sure that our sites are future proof and well developed for all our customers.

I’ve also been trying to take advantage of some other elements in jQuery that we’ve been wanting to implement for some time, such as the lazyloader, respond.js library and the IE6 chrome window alert to encourage all users of the outdated browser to either upgrade or at least start using the amazing chrome frame system.

It’s not quite finished yet, and it’s going to take a little while to roll over to various sites, our own for one, but I’m pretty sure a little more refinement and we’re onto another strong template base for WordPress, the next challenge will be to transfer all this into the Magento Core – Penrose theme that we’ve developed.  One step at a time…

We decided to develop our own Magento theme, which would be a blueprint / framework for all our new Magento new builds. Based on The Code Pharmacy coding standards and with the main aim to make development of Magento builds from design to live, quicker and more efficient.

We are still in pre beta stage and the theme has quickly developed into a Magento Module. Its been a learning process but we are excited about sharing it with the community. We still have to work out licenses and what distribution model we are going to use, but watch this space.

The project is code named ‘Penrose’, here is some of the artwork preview:

We were able to tailor a custom design media showcase website delivered in Adobe Flash player & powered by Actionscript 3.

XML is directly complied from the MySQL database backend using our PHP frontend interpreter and seamlessly feeds into the Flash movie.

In collaboration with JB Creatives, we designed and developed this photography website built for Serene, who are a professional make-up artist and stylist management company based in London. Their clients provide services for the music, entertainment & corporate industries, including Bat for Lashes, Daniel Craig, The X Factor and Avon.

The site uses a custom CMS & image uploader allowing them to update their site with their latest images. XML is directly compiled from the MySQL database backend using our PHP frontend interpreter and seamlessly feeds into Adobe Flash player movie, which is written entirely in Actionscript 3.
