I have been debating it for a while and the argument I had with myself was Do I want to portray myself as a student?

I realized that I am not just a student, I am a talented photographer capable of producing professional grade images. I decided my name will go out and that I will portray myself as the hard working passionate young businessman artist that I am.

I have set up multiple means of spreading the word such as using www.wix.com for a website where I can showcase my photographs in a effective way. The kitchen and bathroom was out but the rooms worked, it was like this all across rez!

We didn't think much of it, although it was kind of cool cuz the hallways only had those emergency lights so it was all dark and whatnot! So me and my friends had planned to go to the movies to see PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2. :l what a night to go!

So we left to go to the movie theatre the power was still "half" out. We went to the movies and I had never been so rattled by a movie in my whole teenage life! The movie was crazy and got me and my friends all tingly with fright.

As soon as the movie was over all I could think about was the walk back (it was 11:30 by the way) to residence and the fact that the power was now completely out and everything was pitch black there, according to a text from another kid there.

We got back and our walk was more funny than anything, consisted of scaring each other and me and greg running ahead of the others and hoping two fences and then scaring our freinds around a corner, although it didn't work so well.

We got back and everyone was outside and in the lobby hanging out, secruity was there, i guess incase some crazy came while it was pitch black. I could see it happening. Anyway! it was late and I had a Midterm the next morning at 8:30 so I went to my room, down the most dark hallways i had ever seen, my roomate wasn't there all night so it was just me in my pitch black room with my friends banging on my window and my door trying to scare me! they stopped once i texted them because i knew it was them right away!

Anyway bottom line, RATTLED.

Shower Time and Midterm Time.

Got New Equipment!

So yesterday I went out to Henrys to look for an umbrella and stand! I ended up getting the 45" white shoot through umbrella by Photoflex and a cheapish stand. As soon as I got back to my residence I set it up right away and fired off a couple shots. I didn't get to play around with it much because when we got back my buddies were upstairs hangin out and I was headin up there too haha

Anyway! I have a Nikon SB-600 that I have been messing around with on my tri-pod and using the D90`s commander flash setting but the two times I went out I couldn`t nail the exposures..

I just learned yesterday about speedlights Guide Number and the mathematical equation behind it. Its simple but very essential, all I need is a measuring tape and a chart with all the different Guide Numbers depending on ISO levels. Maybe later I`ll explain how it works.

Now that I know more about the flash and how to properly place the light as well as get the right settings I should be able to shoot some decent on location shots with flash. Hopefully I will be getting a cheap light stand with a cheap white umbrella so i can have some nice defused light over the harsh direct flash.

First month and a bit..

I am here at college and have been since the fourth of September. Since then i have been going to my classes and learning some stuff about Digital photography, hence the program i am in...

To be honest the first month and a bit wasn't exactly what I thought it was gonna be like. My class consists of newbies and some more advanced photographs therefore since we have those people just starting out, we have to start from the very basics.

I have been taking photographs for just over a year now, I used a Nikon D60 for my first year of shooting and then just before college I upgraded to a Nikon D90. Anywho, after a year of shooting random things in beautiful Muskoka and reading books on photography, i had gained a pretty good knowledge of basic photography. And that is what is making the program seem a little dull.

I am going to be very excited for when we start to learn things that i mainly don't know because right now learning about apertures and shutter speeds is killing me! It is getting better though I can say that for sure!

Here are a couple photos from the past little while... P.s. i am not fond of any of these but I will show you anyway :)

<img style="display: block; Here is something you will probably have when your done:

The First Step: Open a new photoshop document, something like 2000px by 1500px. With a black background.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 197px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_9zTxqhcwwRM/S7zC4BZ2LgI/AAAAAAAAABw/mb6FX2KGEcw/s320/1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457451116171505154" />

Step Two: Use the rectangle tool (on a new layer) and make a skinny but long rectangle bleeding off the page. Paint in with white.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 162px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_9zTxqhcwwRM/S7zvqhzMNII/AAAAAAAAAB4/9eIC3S3rKjI/s320/2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457500362372822146" />

Step Three: add a gaussian blur filter to blur the rectangle. and then use the smudge tool to make a water droplet shape at the bottom of the rectangle.(Turn smudge strength down to 15-30%)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 162px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_9zTxqhcwwRM/S7zxRm6CHlI/AAAAAAAAACA/Ok1TpkxNlDc/s320/3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457502133270224466" />

Step Four: Douplicate the previous layer and then use the smudge tool again to push the droplet out farther, then turn the opacity down to your liking to give it that glow.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 162px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_9zTxqhcwwRM/S7zyVMK1E0I/AAAAAAAAACI/kGKYhFgK0F0/s320/4.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457503294324020034" />

Step Five: now we are going to make the swirls that go around the beam. Create a new layer, use the eclipse tool to create a very thin, but as long as the beam. Fill them with white.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 162px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_9zTxqhcwwRM/S7zzZETc2MI/AAAAAAAAACQ/uMZ1R1H20Mg/s320/5.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457504460443801794" />

Step Six: this is where you can get crazy.First deselct the eclipse. While selecting the new layer go to filter > Distort > Shear.
Now out of the line make something like an S, or you can experiment, then mix it into the beam, and duplicate the line, flip it, and use it for the other side, like so

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 162px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_9zTxqhcwwRM/S7z0t5Ov0sI/AAAAAAAAACY/zLAi58PxDng/s320/6.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457505917760164546" />

Step Seven: now we want to blur those two lines, use the gaussian blur on both layers equally.. then make copies of both the lines and add a motion blur to one of the copies.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 162px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_9zTxqhcwwRM/S7z11xf0RKI/AAAAAAAAACg/hLZ0T1_D2Ro/s320/7.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457507152634856610" />

Step Eight: here we will add sparkles, dust, magical crap. You can either just use a small brush, or find a brush to add in the dots surrounding the beam and the lines.. Then we want to add motion blur to it, but a slight one.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 162px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_9zTxqhcwwRM/S7z3FOY8Z8I/AAAAAAAAACo/k0Zq88uPFQA/s320/8.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457508517600323522" />

Step FINAL: now you can use colour balance to change colour, as well you can make duplicates and fill your page with RAINING ENERGY BEAMS!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 162px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_9zTxqhcwwRM/S7z4S1AoXII/AAAAAAAAACw/pMZLYtoUhWs/s320/9.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5457509850817256578" />
