To Hate is to Break a Law and a Heart

According to Hate Crime Statistics, 2005, 8,380 hate crimes that were reported happened against people for their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, or sexual orientation. 14.2% of these were motivated by sexual orientation. And that was only people who were reported and caught. The scary thing is, 84% of hate crimes involved violent crimes; a rape or other sexual assault, robbery, or any other assaults were described by victims. In half of these crimes the victims were verbally assaulted, and only 41% of assaults, police were on scene in less than 10 minutes (Bureau of Justice Statistics). Only 32 states have laws against sexual orientation motivated crimes, some exceptions are AR, GA, IN, SC, and WY, which means 18 states do not care. WHAT?!?!?! I feel that as human beings we should have the right to our own protection, especially from the government that says "Justice and equality for all." Somebody shouldn't walk out in the morning, scared, not knowing whether they were going to get assaulted or not today. In these 18 states, people should feel protected, that the law enforcement is on there side. Hate crimes are wrong against nature, law, and morals. However people feel, we should have equal rights for protection.

For years people have been debating whether of not gays should have rights. Some are pro, others aren't. Priests, people highly loyal to the Bible, and certain political parties are highly against giving gays there rights for insurance, adoption, social security, and marriage. Their homo-phobic attempts to "scare the gay outta 'em" are obviously not working, and are obviously southern for some reason. With GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) clubs popping up all over the country-through the community and schools- Anti-Gay socialists are going to have to find better tactics of convincing the country of same-sex abolishment with our fearless, determined gay friends. Through many protests, gays have fought for their rights to a "normal" living, and to be accepted. This, I guess in a way, is my way of protesting anti-gay parties and supporting the gay community with my views on the topic. Most "anti-gay" socialists are actually homo-phobic, and feel that gays aren't really gay by birth but gay through the way they were raised, which is a totally illogical way to look at it, more only an excuse to protest against people they are afraid of. Even more so, anti-gay politicians are just looking for something to do. Because they are so rich and don't care about others' feelings, they chose a hobby that could ruin someone's life...Thanks Fred Thompson!
