As of 15:00 this day, this aethernet journal has been re-appropriated by me as Air Marshal of the Royal Caledon Air Force under the articles of the Emerging Threat Powers Act due to the ever growing threat posed by the Duchy of New Brunswick and the Duke of Marlborough.

Prim Perfect Issue 17 (May 2009) now available!

Two years ago, a new magazine was launched in Second Life - the very first magazine to take Homes and Gardens as its theme. Perhaps that is not so surprising - in Second Life, new magazines launch regularly - and, sadly, seem to die almost as regularly.

This one, however, has gone from strength to strength … for it was Prim Perfect, and this issue we are delighted to celebrate our second birthday.

We’re doing this with the help of a major retrospective article on our first two years. We review what appeared in each issue, and some of the many people who’ve appeared in our pages or worked with us on projects share their thoughts and memories. And we have a special Moodyloner Korobase quiz for this issue - as well as a chance to try again the quiz from our very first issue!

And remember - if you realise you’ve missed an issue, you can always pick one up from our archive wall in Oliveto, or read them through the Calaméo browser.
Prim Perfect: Sim of the Month

Our Sims of the Month are the Confederation of Democratic Sims, a fascinating combination of themed quality builds and idealistic political experimentation. Sigmund Leominster and Jvstin Tomorrow (yours truly!) explore the sims and talk of their fascinating experiences and encounters with the locals.

Leyla Firefly is our Designer of the Month. Ceejay Writer explores the Alpine chalet she furnished so beautifully and talks to Leyla herself about her career and her fascinating builds. Join us on Saturday, May 2nd at 3pm for the Speed Building Contest, Avatar contest entries must be received by 4pm with winners announced during the Mad Scientist's ReAnimation Ball starting at 5pm. There will be two build contests with a grand prize in each category and a dance in the evening.

*Unnatural Creation Avatar - Building starts now, with judging on the day of the convention. Create an avatar from scratch. Is it a murderous robot? A living Construct? Did you summon Cthulhu from a test tube? Let your imagination run wild, and show us that science really can "open strange doors." Issue Five of the Primgraph now available!

Welcome to Issue 5 of the Primgraph - and we have a packed issue!

This month we are exploring a lovely and unusual Baroque area - the sim of Drottningholm Palace, based around the country home of the royal family of Sweden, and set in the year 1778. Miss Ceejay Writer supplies the fascinating background to this unusual location, while Miss Therese Carfagno meets some of the residents and hears their stories, and Miss Cynster Clowes supplies a resident’s perspective.

News from around the vintage and steampunk grid provides information on various projects and plans: Mr Julian Beeswing supplies news of the Babbage Kite Festival, while Mrs Annechen Lowey has news of a rather special forthcoming Grand Tour.

There’s a fascinating account by Miss Ceejay Writer of the re-creation of Mark Twain’s study in Second Life, and Miss Riven Homewood reports on a Celebration of Steampunk for the first anniversary of the Steelhead Public Library.

Mrs Annechen Lowey has the first article in a new series on the Etiquette of the Steamlands. No aspiring Evil Scientist should be without her sage advice as to the proper form for using your Death Ray.

Prim Perfect is looking for a Group Advertising and Client Relations Manager

This is a rare opportunity to work with one of the most highly regarded and fastest growing media groups within Second Life. Prim Perfect consists of three distinct productions: Prim Perfect magazine (Second Life's premier home and gardens magazine), The Primgraph (Second Life vintage and steampunk magazine), and Meta Makeover (the SLCN TV show for Second Life homes and gardens).

We wish to hire an energetic, enthusiastic, and proactive individual who can successfully manage advertising and client relations for all three productions.

Job responsibilities include growing client bases, developing advertising revenues and other income
streams; maintaining good relations with existing clients; managing client accounts; and handling client invoicing.

You will work both independently and with the various production teams, so good communication skills are a must.

The successful candidate will have attitude, aptitude, and appetite. A proven ability to meet deadlines is highly desirable.

Proven writing skills and a willingness to contribute periodically to a group blog will be an advantage.

Applicants should have at least six months experience in Second Life, which should include having held a Second Life employment position, preferably connected with sales or management or marketing.

Applicants should also understand something of the design process and key issues affecting designers. Experience in RL print, online or broadcast advertising sales may be an advantage.

Greetings and Salutations!

Things have been quiet here on the Telegraph, and now with the publication of the fourth issue of the Primgraph, you can see that we've been busily getting the latest issue ready for publication!

This month, the Primgraph does something a little different--and our focus this month is a trip to the Wild West. From the sims of Tombstone, to a review of the year 1883, to the secret passion that Saffia Widdershins has for the western novels of JT Edson, you'll smell the desert wind and imagine the sagebrush in this issue.

And that is hardly all! We have news and pictures from Babbage, our monthly serial The Mysteries of London, and much more. Like its sister publication Prim Perfect, every issue of the Primgraph is jam packed with all sorts of reading goodness.

And, oh, yes, this month there is a modest article from yours truly, a trifle, really, about the roleplaying sim of Rivet Town where the two halves of a steampunk victorian society live cheek by jowl...and very uneasily.

Christmas, Solstice, Chanukah, Yule - in the Northern Hemisphere, this dark season of the year is brightened by many holidays and holiday events, and also by the presence of friends and family. (Apparently in the Southern Hemisphere it is marked by sun-soaked cookouts and beach parties, but I'm afraid I have no personal experience of that.)

Whatever the weather, this is a time for counting our blessings, and for enjoying the pleasures of life. This year, one of the pleasures of The Primgraph's staff has been the production of this new magazine, and the satisfaction of gaining the support of many good people, and of seeing its readership and number of advertisers grow.

We are glad to be here, and to be providing something new and creative for the benefit of the Second Life world, and for all of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your interest and support.

Doings in the Steampunk Aetherscape

Hello friends!

Now is winter, and despite the troubles with engines seizing up, snow causing low visibility for steampunk aeronauts, and the chill of the season, things still are percolating in Second Life. Even at a more sedate pace, the engines of creativity still hum.

Anyway, ElAdrienne has been taking daguerreotypes...err, photographs, aren't they, of the new sights to be seen in Steelhead Harbor.. Tooting her own horn a bit, she also tells us about a fashion exhibit in Victoria City...that her wonderful talents have herself brought to life.

Dr Fabre takes to the skies, as he tells us about a variety of aircraft designed by Wicked Kitty Industries that he had a chance to test-flight. Lucky!

Her Grace the Duchess tells us about something happening tomorrow, Sunday, December 14th: A Military Holiday Celebration! If my sprained ankle allows me to sit at the computer for long enough periods, your Aetheric correspondent will definitely put in an appearance...

Or, perhaps, thanks to the heads up from In Perpetua Designs, your Aetheric Correspondent might head over to the Winterfell Library for a discussion of Terry Pratchett's new novel, Nation. Your Aetheric Correspondent had the privilege of reading an advance copy of this novel, and the set of English manners clashing with native ones is definitely a strong theme of humor in the book.

Poor Dr. Malegatto Alter, though, might want to try attending one of these two, after a less than successful battle on the waters.

And Steelhead apparently had a Ice Skating Party last weekend. Judging from the picture of some of the strange skaters, your Aetheric Correspondent is sad that he missed it.

My friends, in the fuss around the recent American holiday, I completely forgot to mention that just last week, the third issue of The Primgraph became available!

Our featured sim this month is our most steampunk yet - the amazing group of sims that make up Steelhead.

You may notice that the “look” of this magazine has changed. This is all due to the energy and enthusiasm of our new graphic artist, Miss Wren Carling, and we hope you enjoy the results of her efforts as much as we do!

Our primary focus this time around is the marvellous steampunk sims of Steelhead, where the Pacific Northwestern United States comes alive in the Second Life world in the form of a friendly and active community. We also take the opportunity to introduce you to one of Steelhead’s more prominent sub-groups – immigrants from another dimension known as “Europa Wulfenbach”. The estimable Baron Klaus Wulfenbach maintains a consulate in Steelhead (as well as other places), and has also brought through a number of … interesting individuals called “Jägerkin”, who have an active presence in Second Life. In addition, our Book Review section includes a look at the ongoing history of Europa Wulfenbach called Girl Genius, amongst several other literary offerings of both the print and Aetheric kind.

We also, of course, have our several continuing items, beginning with the next instalment of The Mysteries of London, which introduces an important new character. “Clio’s Mirror” reflects on the year 1830, and our excerpt from Miss Henrietta Sowle’s I Go A-Marketing is a bit longer than usual this time, as we wanted to share with you her thoughts on the culinary aspects of both the American Thanksgiving and of Christmas. We also have a shorter item from London Labour, focusing on what one might have heard on the streets of Victorian London. Sir JJ Drinkwater of the Caledon Library has kindly provided two further updates on their collections … and we also have received permission to print another pair of letters from the two gentlemen who are “Exiled on the Grid”.

On a different note, Miss Ceejay Writer has given us a report on “Burlesque for Polite Society”, which mentions both the history of this art form and New Babbage’s New Champagne Rooms. And we also are delighted to introduce two new writers on matters of Fashion and Style: Miss M0lly Dench, who provides her thoughts on her visit to Steelhead and its shops; and A Lady, whose regrettable addiction to Shopping should, nonetheless, provide our readers with very valuable information about the clothing and items that are available across Second Life.

Received this message during my efforts to construct an edifice..

Welcome to the second Antiquity airship race! This year, there are two classes, physical engines and non-physical engines.

Again, these crafts must be steampowered, whether that be or prop or steam jet (as long as it is steam). The first race starts at 12:30 SLT in Antiquity, on Saturday, the 22nd of November.

1st prize in both races is L$5000.

The 'Physical Engine' class will run first, followed by the 'Non-Physical Engine'.

The course will be available prior to the race start.

Hello all.

It's November. In the real world, the leaves have turned, a chill is in the air, and the coolness of Fall is a prelude to winter.

So why not stay warm in the confines of the virtual world? Yes, there have been storms (to say the least) in SL as of late. I am not going to talk about that here. You have your opinion, I have mine (and they may very well be congruent). However, there are plenty of venues to air grievances and kvetch about that. I am going to focus on the positive here, on what people are up to? Do we have a Deal? Deal!

Steampunkians have been busy as of late. Take Bela, for instance, who has been doing some construction and has created an unarmed steampunk supply vehicle. I'd love to have one of THESE.

ElAdrienne Laval tells us about her Halloween themed adventures in Winterfell and beyond.

Voyages Extraordinares celebrates its first anniversary with a look back at the idea and spirit of Terra Incognita, and why its important to the human psyche to always have a blank space on the map to explore.

Cathryn Beaumont tells us about a Halloween party held by her cousin the Duchess Beaumont. It looks like a lot of fun was had by all.

Perhaps not to my taste, but Dr. Fabre on the Heliograph tells us about a new steampunk combat sim, Apocolyptica. It sounds as much post-apocalypse steampunk as it does the more standard variety we know and love.

Steampunk goodness at Burning Life

Hello all!

I hope you had an opportunity to get over and explore Burning Life while it was up a couple of weeks ago. Like the Burning Man festival in Nevada, Burning Life is temporary, transitory and absolutely fascinating while in existence.

A worthy might bring up a point of order. "Mr. Tomorrow, why would readers of the Primgraph be interested in Burning Life? I was there, and saw political sims, sims devoted to the environment, and, believe it or not, something to do with the "United Federation of Planets! What was there for us to see?"

Ms. Markstein herself, in a discussion with me while Burning Life was in progress, pointed me to an exhibit that fans of the Primgraph can appreciate.

The artist signed it as "Blotto Epsilon" and I had the opportunity to talk with him a bit as he was tearing apart the display on Sunday morning:

The display of American dreams rearranged itself as I watched. Even better, I found that you can crawl around inside of it. Navigation was, at best, tricky...

I look forward to more such designs in the future, in and out of Burning Life.

For those who missed the entry over on our sister blog devoted to Prim Perfect, the creatrix of the PP family witnessed a most unusual event in Caledon:

A Volcanic Eruption.

Over on the new Caledonian sim of the St. Kitt Islands(SLURL link), a party was interrupted by the rude and "unexpected" volcanic pyrotechnics. Saffia has all the first hand details:

Attention EDF and RCAF pilots!

We'll meet at Skies of Tomorrow 9:00 AM SL Time. I'll lead on Saturday, ACM Sin Trenton leads us on Sunday.

Sin and I have discussed new rules for our organized dogfights. These rules are approved by Marshal Zoe Connolly.

Dogfights will be restricted to airplane flight only (no hovering craft) with a TCS max of 10HP. If the Ju-87 has 15, that is acceptable. Read more and feel free to comment at the RCAF Ning page: http://rcafhq.ning.com/

Hello again!

Things have been busy here in the Primgraph, with preparations for issues (both of Prim Perfect and the Primgraph), and other doings here and there.

While it may be the "dog days of summer" there is fun and adventures out there amongst our friends and allies.

For example, Dr. Fabre tells us about the growth of the shops in the Mermaid Arcade in Port Babbage.

You may have seen the news on Prim Perfect's blog, but Elrik Merlin gives his own view to Miss Emilin Nakamori's remarkable invention of a non scripted mechanism.

Murakami Steamworks, fine purveyors of ironclad ships, has announced that they are now making third generation ironclads, the MSS Tyrann, the MSS Kotetsu and the MSS Lavanco, available. And apparently 4th generation ships are in the works, too.

"Gimpgirl" Fundraiser in Caledon

Mr Ederyn Clowes tells me that yesterday he stopped in at the Victorians with Disabilities Dance at Caledon Carntaigh. Though he couldn't stay long, he learned the event was a fundraiser for an SL community called GimpGirl, really an extention of an older aethernet community (see link) for women with disabilities. The SL group is run by JennyLin Arashi and Aleja Asurias.

In SL, they have their own island - Mr Clowes was able to visit it briefly today (he says it is worth seeing), and learned from Miss Asurias that although the land is donated, they still need to raise money for SL and RL expenses. This is, certainly, another worthy cause to keep in mind!

RCAF Dogfight in Extropia

Pilots of the RCAF and EDF will meet at the Skies of Tomorrow sim in Extropia on Saturday 02 August 2008 at 9:00 AM SLT for a dogfight.

We'll have air combat for approximately 45 minutes.

Our theme is : "Fly Your Favorite"

As always, one-on-one dogfights are welcome in Extropia and select void-sim duchies in Caledon.
