Goals given boost when Obama administration legitimizes ban on criticism

A senior fellow for a Madrid-based think tank is alerting freedom-loving people about a caliphate-planning conference being held by Muslims soon, a move he said was given a boost of support by the Obama administration recently when it allowed a three-day “Istanbul Process” conference in Washington.

That event, writes Soeren Kern, Senior Fellow for European Politics at Madrid’s Grupo de Estudio, “gave the [Organization of Islamic Cooperation] the political legitimacy it has been seeking to globalize its initiative to ban criticism of Islam.”

The coming event, Caliphate Conference 2012, is being organized by Hizb ut-Tahrir, which Kern describes as a “pan-Islamic extremist group that seeks to establish a global Islamic state, or caliphate, ruled by Islamic Shariah law.”

The 57-member OIC has been proposing a special international law that would make it criminal to speak ill of Muhammad or his followers for years, but it never was successful under its earlier plans that were portrayed as a ban on the “defamation of religions.” Actually, support for the idea had started waning.

But then it proposed Resolution 16/18, a plan for countries to “combat” things like “intolerance, negative stereotyping and stigmatization of … religion and belief.” The idea was adopted in the U.N. General Assembly just a few weeks ago and Kern’s analysis notes that it would be largely ineffectual as long as the West doesn’t jump behind it.

That is why it was a “diplomatic coup,” according to Kern, when Obama held the three-day conference in Washington, where Secretary of State Hillary Clinton committed to the key principal Muslims have been seeking for years: holding people responsible when “free speech” … “results in sectarian clashes.”

The critical question that has been among the reasons the so-called “anti-defamation” plans previously have failed is that such limits suggest, even require, that the blame be placed on the person making a statement if the situation is that someone else reacts to it violently.

Free speech advocates are worried over her comment that, “It’s one thing if people are just disagreeing. That is fair game. That’s free speech. But if it results in sectarian clashes, if it results in the destruction or the defacement or the vandalization of religious sites, if it even results in imprisonment or death, then government must held those – hold those who are responsible accountable.”

In Western civilization, the standard for responsibility would be to hold those accountable who do violence, not those who make statements that those who do violence blame for their actions.

The U.N. strategy, proposed by Pakistan “on behalf of the Organization of the Islamic Conference,” again creates an open door to blame someone for making a statement about Islam to which Muslims would react violently, by raising concerns about “incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence.”

Further, it “condemns any advocacy of religious hatred that constitutes incitement to discrimination, hostility or violence.”

Repeated concerns have been raised by such statements, as they open the door for attacks on people making statements about their own beliefs, which someone else would choose to decry as “hatred.”

In fact, the resolution calls for “measures to criminalize” some related behaviors.

Sharona Schwartz at at the Blaze noted that the German-language promotion video for the conference starts: “The relentless decline of capitalism has begun. The time has come to fight against poverty. Time to obliterate the injustices. Time for the correct system.”

Which is identified as Islam.

In a report published by the Stonegate Institute, Kern said the “explicit aim” of the Istanbul Process is to make it a crime to criticize Islam.

He writes, “According to Steven Emerson, a leading authority on Islamic extremist networks, Hizb ut-Tahrir is emulating the three-stage process by which Muslims established the first Islamic caliphate after the death of the Islamic Prophet, Mohammed, in the year 632.

“During the first stage, Hizb ut-Tahrir builds a party by cultivating a small number of supporters to engage in recruitment and propaganda. In the second stage (which Hizb ut-Tahrir is now entering in Europe and the United States), the group educates Muslims in order to recruit a larger group of people to join Hizb ut-Tahrir and support its revolution. Finally, having won the support of Muslims, Hizb ut-Tahrir moves to establish a Shariah-ruled Islamic government.”

He notes the OIC just two weeks ago sponsored a symposium in Brussels to talk about “anti-Islamophobia.”

“Resolution 16/18, which was adopted at HRC headquarters in Geneva in March 2011, is widely viewed as a significant step forward in OIC efforts to advance the international legal concept of defaming Islam,” he reports.

He cited the report from the International Islamic News Agency, which stated, “The phenomenon of Islamophobia is found in the West in general, but is growing in European countries in particular, in a manner different from that in the U.S., which had contributed to drafting Resolution 16/18. The new European position represents the beginning of the shift from its previous reserve over the years over the attempts by the OIC to counter ‘defamation of religions’ in the Human Rights Council and the General Assembly of the United Nations.”

WND previously has written about the Islamic-led Defamation of Religions proposal in the United Nations. It was “nothing more than an effort to achieve special protections for Islam – a move to stifle religious speech,” according to an analysis by Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law and Justice.

According to the Human Rights First organization, the plan simply violates fundamental freedom of expression norms.

Tad Stahnke, of Human Rights First said the concept is “unfortunate for both individuals at risk whose rights will surely be violated under the guise of prohibiting ‘defamation of religions,’ as well as for the standards of international norms on freedom of expression.”

The issue also has been addressed by Carl Moeller, chief of Open Doors USA, in an interview with WND at the time, because of the pending threat to the freedoms in America.

“This is a battle for our basic freedoms,” he warned.

“This [U.N. idea] is Orwellian in its deviousness,” he said. “To use language like the anti-defamation of a religion. It sounds like doublespeak worthy of Orwell’s 1984 because of what it really does.”

He said Muslim nations would use it as an endorsement of their attacks on Christians for statements as simple as their belief in the divinity of Jesus Christ, which Muslims consider an affront.

Worse would be the “chilling” effect on language that the U.N. plan would create worldwide, he said.

“This would be a huge blessing to those who would silence dissidents in their countries, Islamic regimes,” he said. “This stands as a monument to the gullibility of the masses in the United States and other places who don’t see this for what it is.”

Hitler wrote Mien Kampf in 1923. In that book he clearly states his intention to wage war because Germany needed….“lebensraum.” While most Germans were overwhelmingly “moderate” they did virtually nothing to stop German extremists, the Nazis, from pursuing Hitler’s dream.

Moderate Germans aquiessed to Nazism and pronounced a million times, “We Germans don’t want war! We are a peacful people!” 16 years after Mien Kampf Germans started World War Two:

-6/15/05 BBC: “By 1939 Mien Kampf had sold 5,200,000 copies and had been translated into 11 languages. It was provided as a school textbook after Hitler came to power in 1933 and was given to all German newlyweds”)

-1930 “Moderate” Germans vote for the Nazi Party as the second most popular in Germany. Much like the Palestinians voted in Hamas, a known terrorist orignization.

-8/20/1933 New York Times, Berlin: “Eighty-nine and nine-tenths per cent of the German voters endorsed in yesterday’s plebiscite Chancellor Hitler’s assumption of greater power than has been possessed by any other ruler in modern times.”

-1933 Hitler becomes Chancellor, quits League of Nations

-1935 Hitler declares military conscription and “moderate” Germans beginning building their war machine.

-1936 Germans seize Rhineland

-1938 Germans seize Austria and Czechoslovakia

-1938 September: Prime Minister Chamberlain negotiates peace with Hitler at Munich: “…peace in our time.”

-1939-1945 Germans plunge the world into the Second World War. 60 million people died.

The history of Islam is strikingly similar to Nazi Germany but for one element: Germans merely sought domination of Europe — Muslim extremists seek domination of all mankind, to wit and have a religious agenda as motivation…

-The Quran, like Mien Kampf, is clear about what extremist Muslims are commanded to do. (Winston Churchill said of Mien Kampf: “Here was the new Quran of faith and war; turgid, verbose, shapeless but pregnant with its message”):

-Quran 8:12: Instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers
-Quran 8:7: Wipe out the unbelievers
-Quran 8:12: Strike off their heads
-Quran 9:5: Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them

History proves that extremist Muslims, abetted by acquiescent “moderate” Muslims, have followed those commands:

-12/8/09 Al-Shabab TV, Egypt: Egyptian cleric Hamdan Badr, a member of the International Association of Muslim Scholars, justified Muslim General Khalid ibn al-Walid’s (592-642AD) statement — “It was thirst that made us leave our homes. We have heard that Byzantine blood is the tastiest, and we have come to drink it” – this way: “This didn’t constitute aggression because we were defending the borders of the Islamic state. We are commanded to enjoin people to worship Allah. That is the mission of every Muslim in this life.” (see the video of this on You Tube)

Google search on “civil wars in the world.” Research each individual civil war and you will find one common combatant in 90% of them: Muslims. Muslims are involved in civil wars in China, Russia, Bosnia, Cyprus, Macedonia, Israel, Pakistan, India, Indonesia-Ambon & Halmarhera, Côte d’Ivoire, Kashmir, Kosovo, Kurdistan, Kirghizia, Nigeria, Philippines, Somalia, Turkey, Chechnya, Sudan, Yemen, Thailand, Uganda, Azerbaijan and East Timor. Muslims fight against Zoroastrians, Copts, Hindus, Jews, Christians, animists, communists, Buddhists, Sikhs – against all non-Muslim nations and cultures.

Need more evidence?

-8/09 Bosnia Muslim leader Mustafa Ceric declared Christian Serbian Muslim-majority territory boarding Montenegro as Muslim homelands. The same Muslims we saved from ethnic cleansing by bombing Christian Serbs in the 90′s are now claiming more Serbian land.

-8/23/09 BBC Thailand: In a pre-dawn raid Muslims killed two Thai policemen today and fled in trucks. Muslims shoot, behead and blow up local Buddhists to force them to flee Southern Thailand in order to establish a separate Islamic state.
-8/20/10 AsiaNews, Kashmir: Extremist Muslims are demanding Sikhs convert or leave.

-8/23/10 Reuters: Since 2004 Muslim extremists have killed 4,000 Buddhists in southern Thailand, which they are claiming as Muslim homelands.

-10/4/11 AFP news, Philippines: “The government had previously warned that Umbrakato posed a serious threat to efforts aimed at ending a Muslim insurgency that has left an estimated 150,000 people dead over more than four decades.”

-1/3/12 Reuters, China: “[Muslim] Uighurs in Xinjiang rioted against Han Chinese residents in 2009 and at least 197 people were killed, according to official estimates.”

It’s not complicated: Either we put an end to Muslim aggression or they will terminate all non-Muslim Culture.

The cost of gasoline today is at its highest point ever during winter, an ominous sign of what might be on the horizon in the months to come.

According to government data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the average price of regular unleaded is $3.34 over the three-month period of December, January and February. The current national average is even higher: $3.65, according to the latest figures from AAA.

Last December, motorists encountered the highest-ever price for gas at Christmas in history. Today drivers in California are paying on average of more than $4 per gallon for regular. News reports from Florida put the price at nearly $6.

World events are a big factor for rising gas prices in the United States. The growing economies in China and India are fueling increases in demand for oil. Instability in the Middle East from Iran is also driving prices higher. And, in just a few months, when government regulations require major metropolitan cities to use cleaner burning reformulated gasoline blends during the warmer spring and summer months, motorists could be face even higher prices.

The rising cost of fuel has alarmed the White House, which held an event Thursday at the University of Miami. President Obama outlined new plans to increase domestic energy production.

Heritage’s Nick Loris responded with five half-truths about gas prices and five steps Congress and Obama can take to effectively combat them. Loris said high prices threaten to stall the country’s economic resurgence.

“Higher gas prices drive up production costs for goods reliant on transportation, and more money spent at the pump means less money spent at restaurants and movie theaters,” Loris said. “Buying fewer goods and services tightens the economic vice and holds back job creation.”

Its not even summer yet and gasoline prices have risen above $5 for a gallon of premium gas at a Shell station in Los Angeles, California. Wholesale gasoline traded 13 cents higher in the market last Tuesday due to a Friday fire that idled BP Plc’s Cherry Point, Washington, refinery. The uncertainly in Iran is another factor that could increase gasoline prices to those never seen before.

While the Obama administration and the mainstream media attempt to paint Americaas enjoying a current economic recovery – the facts tell a very different story. After some 5 TRILLION dollars in deficit spending, job growth remains as stagnant as ever under the yoke of the Obama presidency:

There are a couple of interesting observations to be made from the top graphic from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. One, the steep decline in American jobs correlates to when the Democrats took over control of Congress. Coincidence? Perhaps. But then recall that Barack Obama begins his presidency in 2009 and the decline very much continues well into 2010 where it at least flatlines. 2010 was when Republicans then took control of the House of Representatives and gained a number of seats in the Senate – which the Democrats still control.

$5 TRILLION in lost taxpayer deficit dollars is quite a sum for what that chart reflects – stagnant job growth. Millions who remain unemployed. Millions more who have dropped out of even trying to find work and are therefor not even being counted in the unemployment figures.

For a bit of contrast check out the bottom comparative chart detailing the Reagan recovery vs the Obama recovery. One president charged ahead with plans to greatly reduce taxes, lessen regulations, and pushes to increase domestic energy production in the United States. The other president – Barack Obama, called for more taxes, more regulation, and has fought increasing domestic energy production at every opportunity – such as his shutting down of the much-needed keystone pipeline with Canada.

The truth is clear - the Obama presidency has been a near-complete disaster for working Americans. This might explain a term growing in popularity of late – “ABO” - Anybody But Obama in 2012…

In yet another slight to rule of law, the Obama Administration has asked a federal court to put a press conference pronouncement above official regulation.

Last week, the Department of Justice filed a legal response to one of numerous lawsuits currently challenging the constitutionality of the Obamacare anti-conscience mandate. The Administration submitted its response to the legal complaint of Belmont Abbey College, represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, to the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia.

In what the Becket Fund is calling a “remarkable” stance, the Obama Administration argues that the court should dismiss Belmont Abbey’s lawsuit because the President promised in a February 10 press conference to change the anti-conscience mandate at some undetermined future date.

The Administration’s legal response largely ignores the fact that the final version of the rule, filed by the Administration just hours after the press conference, was not changed; rather, it enshrined the original offensive mandate in law.

The Obama Administration is not petitioning the court to consider the merits of the final regulation as published. Rather, the Justice Department is asking the court to make a legal determination based on promises made at a press conference.

“Apparently, the administration has decided that the mandate, as written and finalized, is constitutionally indefensible,” said Hannah Smith, senior counsel at the Becket Fund. “Its only hope is to ask the court to look the other way based on an empty promise to possibly change the rules in the future.

“Since when does ‘Trust me, I’m from the government’ suspend the laws of the land?” Smith continued.

The Obama Administration’s weak argument should surprise no one. While Obamacare was still being debated, the American people were told that Congress would have to pass the bill in order to find out what was in the legislation. Now, the Administration is asking a federal court to wait until a future rule-making to determine whether the mandate, as already finalized, violates the Constitution.

The lack of concern for whether the Obamacare anti-conscience mandate meets constitutional muster appears to have permeated the process from the beginning.

In a Senate hearing last week, Senator Orrin Hatch (R–UT) asked Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius if she had consulted with the Department of Justice prior to issuing the religious-liberty violating mandate. She responded, “I did not. No Sir.”

Obamacare’s overreach, including the anti-conscience mandate, is an unprecedented violation of liberty. The Administration’s request that a court pay no attention to the final mandate behind its curtain of spin is only the latest example.

If you want to know if a war is coming, don’t listen to what the politicians are saying. Instead, keep an eye on where ships, troops and equipment are headed. Right now, there are quite a few signs that intense military preparations are being made for war in the Middle East. By April, there will be multiple aircraft carrier groups in the Persian Gulf.

Large numbers of U.S. troops are being massed within striking distance of Iran, and it is being reported that U.S. aircraft are heading to the Middle East in numbers not seen for years. So does all of this mean that war is coming? Not necessarily. Perhaps the Obama administration is just trying to scare Iran into giving up its nuclear program. Perhaps the Obama administration is just trying to convince Syrian President Bashar Assad that it is time to step down.

The fact that such intense military preparations are being made right now is certainly very, very interesting. Usually wars are planned long in advance. The truth is that military planning does not begin when the politicians stop talking. In just about every major military conflict in modern times, forces have been moved into position long ahead of time.

So will we see a war in the Middle East in 2012?

Only time will tell.

But things certainly are starting to heat up.

The following are 7 signs that intense military preparations are being made for war in the Middle East….

#1 France is sending a nuclear aircraft carrier into the Persian Gulf, and it is expected that the U.S. will have three aircraft carrier groups operating in the Persian Gulf by April.

#2 It is being reported that large numbers of U.S. troops are being positioned on two strategic islands within easy reach of Iran. The following comes from a recent Debka article….

Debkafile’s military sources report a steady flow of many thousands of US troops for some weeks to two strategic islands within reach of Iran, Oman’s Masirah just south of the Strait of Hormuz and Socotra, between Yemen and the Horn of Africa.

#3 A major amphibious landing exercise known as “Bold Alligator” is currently being conducted along the Virginia and North Carolina coasts. Eight other nations are also participating in this drill, and many analysts believe that this drill is in preparation for an Iranian operation. The following comes from a recent Arutz Sheva article….

The Bold Alligator

drill includes 20,000 U.S. forces, plus hundreds of British, Dutch and French troops – as well as liaison officers from Italy, Spain, New Zealand and Australia.

The drill includes a beach landing and air assault supported by 25 warships, and is intended to “to revitalize, refine, and strengthen fundamental amphibious capabilities and reinforce the Navy and Marine Corps role as ‘fighters from the sea.’”

U.S. Marines have spent a decade out of their native element in the deserts of Iraq and mountains of Afghanistan, but with the Pentagon’s restructuring and forward-focus on Asia, the Marines are returning to their roots.

President Obama’s use of drone strikes to target terrorists is depleting U.S. intelligence on al Qaeda and making America less safe in the process, according to Marc Thiessen, an American Enterprise Institute fellow.

“The Obama administration has completely eliminated live capture of terrorists and bringing them in for interrogation,” Thiessen said. “As a result, we are not getting insight into the inner workings of al Qaeda.”

Thiessen, author of “Courting Disaster” and a former speechwriter for President George W. Bush, spoke at Heritage about the Obama Doctrine. He joined us on Scribecast to discuss the escalation of drone strikes, Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons, budget cuts to Voice of America and the ideology of isolationism.

Listen to the interview with Marc Thiessen on this week’s Scribecast

Thiessen acknowledged that drone strikes are one of the most popular aspects of Obama’s anti-terror strategy. An overwhelming 83 percent of Americans support drone strikes, including 77 percent of liberals, according to a Washington Post-ABC News poll.

“If Bush was blowing up terrorists without a warrant or a court order, [liberals] would be up in arms,” Thiessen remarked.

But there are downsides. Heritage’s James Jay Carafano has warned that drone strikes alone can’t and won’t win the war on terror. Thiessen said, for example, dead terrorists cannot reveal plans about future attacks. Obama, however, shut down the CIA’s interrogation program, even though he benefits from the intelligence it once produced.

“The time you want to use a drone is when there is perishable intelligence, where you’ve got a very small window of opportunity to take someone out,” Thiessen said.

The podcast runs about 13 minutes. It was produced with the help of Hannah Sternberg. Listen to previous interviews on Scribecast or subscribe to future episodes.

If one takes the time to read a book on Nazi propaganda which will exposed to you as never before, how thoroughly insane not only Hitler but his lieutenants and legions of Germans were; ensnared in their insane perception of what we Jews are up to.

It was a totally crazed distortion of the truth which made the Jewish image in their minds that of sinister, evil, functionally in league with the devil people who are out to get them and then the whole word.

The news out of Egypt began hinting that the demonstrations were no passing phenomenon; then they were becoming serious. They started in the last week of January 2011 last year, and there in the official PA newspaper Al-Hayat al–Jadida on 26 January, in the sports section for some reason (all of this according to PMW/Palestinian Media Watch site, thank goodness for them) an article described Israel this way: Israel is a country “whose aim is destruction and the ruin of humanity. It disseminates destruction, ruin and weapons in the world. It acts to kill nations, to threaten them and to occupy their land. It acts to disseminate the culture of hatred and racism among human beings.”

This article in the official PA mouthpiece also referred to Mt. Carmel, which was built up by the Jews after 14 centuries of no development under Muslims and Arabs. It was barely populated into the 1920s; today hundreds of thousands of Jews live on its slopes and on top of it; the University of Haifa is up there. The PA newspaper called it “the occupied Palestinian Carmel mountain.”

But pay attention less to the anti-Jew coveting of what Jews developed and claiming it is all rightfully theirs and take notice for a moment of the claim that Israel wants to “destroy and ruin humanity and disseminate a culture of hatred and racism among human beings.”

This is the “moderate,” centrist, great white hope PA talking. This material is functionally Hitlerian. For Hitler and his henchman truly believed that the Jews were out to get Germany, that they were not only Germany’s Public Enemy No. 1; they were out to exterminate all Germans and then go after the rest of mankind…

More than 2,500 Christian leaders have signed a letter opposing Obamcare’s anti-conscience mandate. The letter’s release adds to the most recent furor over the rule’s blatant violation of religious liberty and decries the mandate’s coercion of religious employers to subsidize abortion-inducing drugs, contraceptives, and sterilization regardless of moral or religious objections to such services.

The letter, sponsored by the Family Research Council, explains:

Our country was founded on certain freedoms, the first of which is the freedom of religion. The ability of a religious person to follow their conscience without fearing government intervention has long been a protected right for Americans. It is unfathomable to picture a country that would deny religious freedoms.

The letter takes issue with the mandate’s offensively narrow religious exemption that affords a protection of religious liberty only to formal houses of worship—excluding may religious employers like hospitals, schools, and social service organizations. Perhaps most insulting is the Administration’s insinuation that religious belief is merely a private affair that should stay locked behind church doors.

As Richard Land, signatory of the letter and president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, explained at a press conference announcing the release of the letter: “[The mandate] is part of an attempt to atrophy, to nullify, to confine and constrain, and to emasculate and neuter religious freedom down to freedom of worship.”

Increasing attempts to privatize religion, relegating faith to worship services and personal thoughts, disregard the important role faith plays in public life and ignores the work that many faith-based institutions do in sustaining civil society. “What our forefathers protected is freedom of conscience, freedom of religion,” Land continued. “That is—the freedom to propagate our faith, to take our faith outside the walls of our home, outside the walls of our church.”

A narrowing view of religion that refuses to protect faith-based organizations’ ability to act in accordance with deeply held beliefs—the same beliefs that spur them to action in the first place—undermines a robust protection of religious liberty.

As Heritage’s Ryan Messmore writes:

Religious freedom is not just for churches. For many individuals and organizations, losing the ability to abide by their religious convictions in carrying out their work imperils their religious identity. It also threatens the effectiveness of their work and the services they provide for those in need. A more comprehensive, robust conception of religion is an important anchor for vigorous, wide-ranging religious freedom—freedom not merely to believe or teach certain doctrines, but to live out one’s faith in all aspects of life.

The letter’s 2,500 signatories join an ever-expanding list of individuals and organizations from diverse faith backgrounds who have denounced the mandate’s assault on religious liberty. Just this week, the Alliance Defense Fund filed two lawsuits against the Obama Administration on behalf of Geneva College, a small Pennsylvania school affiliated with the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America, and Louisiana College, a Southern Baptist school.

Despite the assertions of some pundits and politicians who herald the mandate as supporting “women’s health,” many women have also voiced opposition to the rule’s serious infringement of religious freedom.

Helen Alvaré, associate professor of law at George Mason University, and Kim Daniels, former counsel at the Thomas More Law Center, also released a letter this week signed by more than 750 women in opposition to the anti-conscience mandate. The letter’s bipartisan signatories are as diverse as they are numerous, including businesswomen, writers, lawyers, professors, nurses, teachers, and many others.

“No one speaks for all women on these issues,” the letter states. “Those who purport to do so are simply attempting to deflect attention from the serious religious liberty issues currently at stake.”

On February 27, Heritage will host Women Speak Out: Obamacare Tramples on Religious Liberty. A panel of women will discuss how religious freedom is an early casualty in Obamacare’s collision course with freedom and why protecting religious liberty, specifically, and individual freedom, generally, requires the repeal of Obamacare.

Join us Monday at 2 p.m. (EST) for the event or watch it live online.
