The Cookie Cutter

It's been a LONG time since I've posted!!

So kids and schoolwork have kept me pretty busy lately! But you'll be happy to know that baking is still going on around here. I have occasionally made cake but cookies are still my favorite! Below are some of the various cookies that have made their way to parties and into tummies via my kitchen...

Santa and Reindeer Cookies- loved these!

Can you believe it is almost December?! Here are some Christmas cookies and some Thanksgiving turkeys :) I have plenty of other Christmas designs... These are just some of the ones I've done!

Fall is around the corner!

noreply@blogger.com (Elizabeth) — Thu, 30 Jul 2009 00:00:00 +0000

Hard to believe with the Memphis heat, but autumn is coming! Celebrate the season with "fallified" colors. I love that word. Fallified. My mom made it up many years ago, and we use it all the time :) I also love the swirls of colors in these sugar cookies... reminds me of the wind whipping the leaves around once the trees have changed colors. *sigh*

Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers...

noreply@blogger.com (Elizabeth) — Wed, 22 Jul 2009 18:03:00 +0000

I love these sweet baby buggies! I can make them more boyish too... I've also got a really cute onesie cutter that is precious when decorated with a peter pan collar piped onto it for a girl or plain with piped "snaps" for a boy. The "M's" were made for a baby shower and also, a friend of mine gave birth to a sweet little girl named Lucy, hence the "L's"... I indulged her husband's sweet tooth when I took them dinner!

My son had a pirate birthday party a few weeks ago... These were our party favors. I've got a whole set of pirate-themed cutters sure to satisfy your little swashbuckler!

Tailgating and College football!

noreply@blogger.com (Elizabeth) — Sat, 04 Jul 2009 17:48:00 +0000

Football season is almost here! These cookies were all really fun to make. I claim no affiliation with any team... although I DID grow up in the Starkville area... Anyway, I can do pretty much any team you're rooting for! I made the gift bag of assorted Mississippi State cookies for a friend to send to a special college student down in Starkville. What a fun way to surprise someone who may be missing home!

Flip Flopping

noreply@blogger.com (Elizabeth) — Sat, 04 Jul 2009 17:25:00 +0000

These flip flops were the first cookies I decorated for someone else. Pretty appropriate given my affection for wearing flip flops! They turned out really cute, but I've also come a long way since then and use some different techniques to create cleaner lines on them. I've done them without embellishments as well... equally cute!

Crazy Daisies and Smiley Faces

noreply@blogger.com (Elizabeth) — Thu, 18 Jun 2009 19:12:00 +0000

Daisies and Smiley Faces are two of my favorite cookies to decorate... they're always "happy" and there's not really any limitation on how to make them special! A new twist I've decided I like for the "Crazy Daisies" is to make the centers out of colored melting chocolate. It's a nice surprise to get a bite of something (else!) yummy in the middle of the cookie!
