It's wonderful to go outside in February and not freeze my a$$ off.

DIY!

2012-01-20T16:41:00.000-05:00

One of my 2012 resolutions/goals/aspirations is to create more... Whether it's DIY, Photoshop, painting, whatever, as long as I'm using the creativity that's been bottled up inside of me for the last few months. So far I've actually kept this resolution. I've been opening up Photoshop and Illustrator every couple of days, and my sewing machine has not gotten much rest the last two weeks.

So when I saw this DIY for transforming a t-shirt, I had to try it. It seemed so easy, and with no sewing required, it literally was a 5-minute project.

Design Inspiration...

2012-01-12T14:07:00.001-05:00

The Design Center at my alma mater, Philadelphia University, has a Tumblr! This place has the most beautiful pieces of fashion history and a huge collection of prints and textiles from a wide range of locations and time periods. Their Tumblr gives you a little taste of all that they have. I always felt so inspired there, I never wanted to leave!

Sigh..

Philadelphia at dusk. Taken with my iPhone last spring.

I miss Philadelphia. I am not giving up. I will return. I visit often but it's nothing like living there. It's the place where my man and I fell in love, where I discovered myself, the place I called home for more than six years. My dreams will come true and I will be back, Philly. My drive and passion will bring me back. I know it.

My New Year's Eve started with a nice cup of hot cocoa watching Parks and Recreation on Netflix...

Continued with something a little stronger...

And ended with a fried food feast from Sheetz...

Happy New Year, hoping it's filled with new beginnings and adventures!

Endless pleasure...

Take hold of your life...

2011-12-22T22:51:00.000-05:00

"Take hold of your own life. See that the whole existence is celebrating. These trees are not serious, these birds are not serious. The rivers and the oceans are wild, and everywhere there is fun, everywhere there is joy and delight. Watch existence, listen to the existence and become a part of it." -Osho

The December Blues...

2011-12-20T12:22:00.000-05:00

Cape May, NJ

Dreary December days in Northeast Pennsylvania really make me wish I were at the beach again and feeling the warm sand in between my toes.

I miss summer.

I miss my old apartment in Philly.

I miss the life I used to have.

Only thing to do is make a new life up here. Make the best of what I got, right?

Let the sun beat down upon my face...

2011-12-12T16:33:00.000-05:00

I've been listening to Led Zeppelin quite a lot lately. Hence, the following lyrics..

"Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face, stars to fill my dream,
I am a traveler of both time and space, to be where I have been,
To sit with elders of the gentle race this world has seldom seen,
They talk of days for which they sit and wait, and all will be revealed.

Talk and song from tongues of lilting grace, whose sounds caress my ear,
But not a word I heard could I relate, the story was quite clear.

Oh, I been flying... Mama, there ain't no denyin'
I've been flying, ain't no denyin', no denyin'

All I see turns to brown, as the sun burns the ground,
And my eyes fill with sand, as I scan this wasted land,
Trying to find, trying to find where I've been.

Oh, pilot of the storm who leaves no trace, like thoughts inside a dream,
Heed the path that led me to that place, yellow desert stream,
My Shangri-La beneath the summer moon, I will return again,
Sure as the dust that floats high in June, when movin' through Kashmir.

Oh, father of the four winds, fill my sails, across the sea of years,
With no provision but an open face, along the straits of fear.

When I'm on, when I'm on my way,
When I see, when I see the way, you stay...
When I'm down,
Well I'm down, so down...
Oh my baby, let me take you there.

Let me take you there. Let me take you there."

Song: "Kashmir"

In response...

Dear Nucky Thompson,
Did you really have to do what you did last night on Boardwalk Empire? I am distraught over your decision. I don't know what else to say.
Insincerely,

Modern Art Nouveau...

We are the dreamers of dreams...

2011-12-07T19:57:00.001-05:00

"We are the music makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams;--
World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whom the pale moon gleams:
Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world for ever, it seems."
-Arthur O'Shaughnessy, 1874

The mate to my soul...

This might be corny/cliche/stupid/whatever.. But this man is the light of my life.

I may be a dreamer, but I'm not the only one...

2011-11-14T19:39:00.001-05:00

"A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world." -Oscar Wilde

Fading daylight...

2011-11-08T20:52:00.001-05:00

My favorite time of day is when the daylight starts to fade. Mother Nature presents some of her best works of art... The colors, the clouds, the silhouettes of everything... Pure beauty.

Getting my spark back...

2011-11-04T18:15:00.000-04:00

I've been sitting down with my old friend Photoshop lately after many months of neglect. My inspiration fire seemed to have burnt out for a while after my mother passed away in February. I've been coming around, and thankfully, so has my creativity, and these inspiration boards are just the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Hope you enjoy!

Do not let the hero in your soul perish...

2011-10-31T23:47:00.000-04:00

"Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark, in the hopeless swamps of the approximate, the not-quite, the not-yet, the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish, in lonely frustration for the life you deserved, but have never been able to reach. Check your road and the nature of your battle. The world you deserved can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it's yours." -Ayn Rand
