Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #49 - Wrap it Up - The Final Challenge

It's time for the another challenge over at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge and this one is the last. After 4 years of running an awesome challenge, I've decided to end the challenge this month. It was a hard decision, but my life has changed a lot in the last 4 years and I just don't have the time to devote to it that it deserves.

Our sponsor this month is the lovely Eileen Hull. She's given us all dies that wrap around to use for our projects. I created the blueish, lavender background using the new Seth Apter #4 set of paints from PaperArtsy. I randomly used all the colors and some sponges to the the background. Then I used a PaperArtsy Kay Carley Stencil #78 with PaperArtsy Grunge paste to add some fun accents. I made the cover for a small journal.

I hope you will join us for our last challenge and thanks to all those of you who have played from the beginning and those of you who just found us. It's been a great ride.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #47 - Color Scheme

Here's my project for this month's Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. The challenge is to use a Complimentary or Split-Complimentary Color Scheme. I used Split-Complimentary Color Schemes. I created a set of 4 mat board ATCs using PaperArtsy Fresco Inks, a new PaperArtsy Zinski Zini (mini stamp), a Darkroom Door Stencil and Tim Holtz stickers. I doodled the borders with a black Fude Ball pen and white Kirarina Wink pen.

I created these cute flower blocks using reclaimed wood from a building site. I painted the blocks and flowers with PaperArtsy Fresco Paints - now available at Topflight Stamps. I doodled on the flower and added some Tim Hotlz Word Bands to finish them off. I also used PaperArtsy Tracy Scott and Emma Godfrey stamps.

It's time for a new Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. This month we are sponsored by Marabu. They are a manufacturer of art supplies. They sent the design team a stencil, art crayon, art spray and acrylic mousse to use on our projects. We ask that you use a stencil and at least 3 mediums on your project.

I used the stencil with the three birds and all the supplies they sent me on an art journal page. I really liked the Acryl Mousse and the way it was very light and went easily through the stencil.

Filled in the outside edges with the blue art spray and colored the birds with the blue crayon and Dina Wakely Scribble Sticks. I outlined the birds with a white pen and a gray Faber Castell Big Brush Pen. Finally, I added some dots to accent the leaves.

PaperArtsy Paints

I created a brayered background using the more pink and purple paints. Then I stamps with Versafine Archival Black Ink and colored in the stamps with the PaperArtsy Fresco paints. I cut out the heart from a journal page where I had been cleaning my brayer so it had the same colors. Then I sprayed it with Dina Wakley Ruby Shimmer Spray covered it with Prismacolor glitter pen. I adhered it to the gesso board from Dick Blick Art Supplies with foam tape. Then I adhered the Tim Holtz word strip with Elmers glue pen. I also went over the border scallops with matching Prismacolor glitter pens.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #44 - Ring in the New Year

It's time for another challenge over at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. This month our challenge is to Ring in the New Year - anyway you like it. I decided to use new supplies on my project. We have a fun mixed media prize package for our random monthly winner.

I created an art journal page. I tore up Jane Davenport napkins into little pieces and decoupaged them onto the blank page. Then I printed out the 2018 numbers from a Word document and decoupaged them on the page. I added some shading to the letters with a gray Faber Castell Big Brush Artist Pen. Then I added white accents with an Edding White Pastel Pen and black border with a Memento Black pen.

Then I stamped the Celebrating Cat with Archival Ink and colored it in with Copic Markers. I wrote the sentiment words and cut them out and adhered them to the page with double sided tape. Finally, I added some Studio Calico star sequins and Viva Glitter pen accents around the happy cat.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #43 - Photo Inspiration

It's time for another challenge over at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge Blog. This month we have a festive photo inspiration. Our sponsor is BoozyBear and they provided the design team with really fun laser cut wooden shapes. I used some snowflakes and circles in my project.

To make my project I used a 5 x 5 white art board from Dick Blick. I used a TCW Circle stencil that is filled with circle on the background. I colored the circle silver and gold using silver and gold Dreamweaver Embossing paste. Then I brushed DecoArt Gold Interference over the whole thing. I painted the snowflakes silver and also added the Gold Interference on them, then added glitter. I ran silver and gold ink around the edges of the board to finish it off. I heat embossed the Believe sentiment from Lavinia Stamps and inked the edges and also brushed Interference on it. To put it together I added three of the wooden circle shapes in their natural color with hot glue and then added the snowflakes and sentiment. Just sharing a card I made using this cute Katzelkraft Stamp featuring Dancing Reindeer and Santa. I used my Koi Watercolors. I haven't used watercolors in a long time so I'm a little rusty, but it was fun to play with them again. I just cut the watercolor paper down so it would fit on a 4.25 x 5.5 card with a matching purple base. I added a white pen for accents. Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome to Christmas Card Challenges. I'm sorry to say that after 8 years, this will be the last challenge. I hope you will be able to join us one last time. We have a Candy Cane photo challenge this week.

For my card I used a sparkly patterned paper background and framed it with some white and red paper. I used a stitched rectangle die to put the sentiment in. The sentiment was cut from red glitter paper. It was an easy and fun card to make. Thanks for stopping by!

To make this card I used the Katzelkraft stamp set called Russian Cats. They have such funny expressions. I also used the Accessories set that coordinates with all the Katzelkraft animal stamp sets. It's time for another Mixed Media Monthly Challenge! This month our theme is Silhouette and our sponsor is the awesome stamp company Visible Image from the UK.

I used the two stamp sets and stencil below on my card.

To create my card I started the background with Distress Crayons. I gessoed the card first,

put the crayons on and then rubbed them in with my fingers.

Then I put the stencil on top and sprayed water. Some water got under the stencil

and left a very random patterned. I kept spraying with water to get it lighter.

I really like the kind of snowy feel it has.

Here's the finished card. I stamped with Versafine Black Ink and a MISTI so I could get full coverage on the images. I mounted it to a 5 x 7 black card base and added some black pearls.

I made this project for this month's Mixed Media Monthly "Photo Inspiration" Challenge. I used this IndigoBlu Country House stamp. I decided to add "flowers" around the door with paint pens. I also added clear glitter glue to the yellow lights and door windows. I used a DCWV stencil on the background with Buff PaperArtsy paint. I colored the scene with Copic markers then added the paint pen flowers. I finished it off with a gray seam binding ribbon bow. I hope you will play in this month's challenge. I was inspired to create a card with a Christmas Tree. This stamp is from KatzelKraft in France. I love it because it has the three zentangled trees and then Merry Christmas written in four languages. I stamped it multiple times and cutout out each tree and the background and adhered them to the card base with foam tape. I colored the images and the purple area on the card base with Tombow Markers. It was a fun to color and easy to make Christmas card in non-tradition colors - may favorite kind. I was inspired to create a card that has red ornaments as the focus. I used a PaperArtsy stamp set called JOFY 27. It's one of my favorite Christmas stamp sets of all time and it's not available in my new online store Topflight Stamps along with many other PaperArtsy stamps. I colored the ornaments with Copic markers and stamped the corners from the set and the sentiment. I colored the sentiment, corners and ornaments tops with a Metallic silver colored pencil from Spectrum Noir and blended with Gamsol. Then I adhered the ornaments and added some small bows to finish it off. A simple and fun card that uses these awesome ornaments for a great focal point. Thanks for stopping by!

It's time for a new challenge over at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge. This month our theme is altered embellishments. So fun, just alter any embellishment you have in some way. We are sponsored by UmWow and they sent our team some Wood Chipboard pieces designed by Lynne Forsythe.

I started out with a medium sized Tim Holtz big chipboard tag. I used stamps from PaperArtsy. I wanted to see how it all would fit on the tag. In then end I only used two flowers.

I used PaperArtsy Fresco paints to paint the tag. I mixed these colors to get a custom color.

I was very happy with the color.

After the paint dried I applied PaperArtsy Grunge Paste through a TCW stencil.

Then I used a permanent ink spray with another stencil.

Then I used another PaperArtsy paint through a TCW stencil.

I checked to make sure I knew which side of the hippies to decorate.

I painted the leaves green and thought they were too dull so I added several coats of green glitter paint to them.

The glitter paint add some texture and dimension.

I painted the flowers with Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers. I added glass beads to the middle of each flower. I covered the flower petals with Goosebumps texture spray. I added little ruler on the bottom, some craft sticks as stamps, I found some plastic leaves that I painted and finally added a little cork butterfly that I used my fingers to paint with pink and yellow paints.
