Segment 1: Intel’s (INTC) Rally

The market had a great day today, and it is due to the huge earnings beat reported by Intel last night. That news made people realize that tech is still working, and forced investors to listen to something other than the bad news rom the auto makers and other failing businesses. They said that their revenues increased because of new sales in sectors like mobile computing and small notebooks, and that they expect to see continued demand from both corporate and...
Segment 1: Watch the Headlines

Cramer pointed out that most newspapers are focused on bad news only, even if it isn’t really news because it isn’t a new issue. He pointed out a headline about troubles at the airline companies as an example, because they are always having financial problems. He said that more important news is that CSX (CSX) had a great quarter and Novellus (NVLS) reported better than expected orders, which is important because both of these companies are in very cyclical...
Segment 1: A Strong Start

Cramer was happy to see the Dow up 2.3% today after 4 straight down weeks, and that even analyst Meredith Whitney is no longer bearish with her upgrade of Goldman Sachs (GS). This is good news because she was one of the media’s most popular bears, so it could turn sentiment around and help move the market higher.

Cramer took phone calls on the following stocks:

Home Depot (HD): Cramer is bullish because he thinks all the homes being bought out of foreclosure will...
Segment 1: What is Wrong with the Market?

Cramer said that no matter what good news is reported, the market ignores it and goes lower. For example semiconductor stocks are being upgraded and predicting increased earnings, but the stocks aren’t moving higher. Cramer thinks that the bottom of the market is near 7700 and we aren’t far from that right now, so this could be a buying opportunity for high quality stocks, but no one is interested. He blames this apathy on the problems in the oil...
Segment 1: The Right Stimulus Plan

Cramer said that there is good news for the economy in China, not in America. He learned this from Alcoa’s (AA) earnings report today, because they reported that they laid off a large number of workers in the U.S. and increased sales in China, and they announced that it is due to the Chinese stimulus plan. Cramer is concerned that American companies will follow this plan by cutting jobs in the U.S. and increasing production in China, and wishes that...
Segment 1: Negative Sentiment

Cramer said that we have entered a more negative mode, and that feeling is sending the market lower. People feel like the government is misreading the economy, the stimulus plan isn’t working, and we are failing to create new jobs. He believes that the cap and trade plan will hurt U.S. businesses, the plans to tax international profits will cause companies to move their headquarters to other countries, and increased government oversight and union support will...
