An entire building tips over

An entire 13-story building in Shanghai just totally tipped over, Gizmodo reports:

This past Saturday, an entire apartment building in Shanghai collapsed. To be fair, the building was under construction and thus unoccupied, but it’s still a minor miracle that there was only one fatality.

Sounds like there was a problem with some nearby flood prevention walls at the Dianpu River, but there’s no hard evidence as to why this huge building simply fell over.

Carniverous clocks uses flies for fuel

Engadget reports on a clock that keeps the fly population under control and is also just plain cool:

This prototype time-piece from UK-based designers James Auger and Jimmy Loizeau traps insects on flypaper stretched across its roller system before depositing them into a vat of bacteria. The ensuing chemical reaction, or “digestion,” is transformed into power that keeps the rollers rollin’ and the LCD clock ablaze. The pair offers an alternative design fueled by mice, another contraption whose robotic arm plucks insect-fuel from spider webs with the help of a video camera, and a lamp powered by insects lured to their deaths with ultraviolet LEDs.

This is the Burj Dubai currently being built in Dubai, UAE.

This picture was taken from the top of the Burj Dubai–it is currently the world’s tallest building standing at 801 meters–thats 0.8 kilometers.

Workers on the building say they can see the curvature of the Earth from the top.

Dad’s acting suspicious

This has been making the rounds on the interwebz lately…

I’ve had my GF for 2 years now (practically lives with me) – small white, petite thang, cooks for me, always been good to me.

I go away on holiday for a week, come back and something just doesn’t seem right. I asked my Father if he had seen anything happen with my GF and he acts clueless.

So fast forward to 3 weeks later… I’m coming home from work when BAM clear as day, right in my Kitchen I catch my Father red handed with his meat in my GF.

I was pissed, told him to get his meat out of GF and GTFO, needless to say my GF got turned off. I just couldn’t get over it and that night kicked my GF to the curb.

Now it’s been 2 weeks since the incident and that I’ve been without my GF and about 10 minutes ago my Father had the audacity to ask my how my GF has been, when he’s the damn reason we ain’t together no more.

Should I get off the computer and start swinging at him?

Pack my stuff and be on my way.
