Hello Stampers!

I am back with another Flourishes Friday post. :-) Today the design team has pulled out an oldie but goodie set, Angelic Love. It's a perfect set for Valentine's Day greetings, and any other time you want to let someone know just how much they mean to you.

I chose to work with some yummy Vanity Fair My Mind's Eye papers, Classic Heart and Scalloped Heart Spellbinders Dies, pretty pearl bling, a fun bauble from Prima, and a bit of gorgeous pink velvet crocheted ribbon. The image was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, and colored in with the following Copic marker collections:

I also sponged on some pale blue ink around the heart. The card size is 5-1/4" square.

Flourishes Friday

Hello Stampers~

Today the Flourishes design team is sharing projects using our favorite sets from this month's new release. I chose to work with both the Love Sweet Love and Heartlines sets. I stamped the gorgeous basket of flowers image on Classic White cardstock, using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the image in with the following yummy Copic Marker Collections:

Layers of pretty cardstock cut with Spellbinders Circle Nestabilities Dies and Blossom Tags and Accents Die make a lovely background for the colored image. The beautiful patterned paper comes from Prima's Alla-Prima paper pad. The pretty ribbons are May Arts Teal Twill, String Loop Trim, and pale yellow ruffled edge ribbon. I added a couple of crystal stick pins and a Sea Breeze Sparklet from Kaiser to the center of the bow. The stick pin crystals were clear; so I colored them in with my Y35 Copic marker. The sentiment was stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa ink.

Flourishes Release Day!

It's Flourishes release day...yahoo! All three of Flourishes' new sets for January are now available for you to order in the Flourishes store!

Today's set, Love, Sweet Love, offers a sweet way to honor your Valentine. From a cookie bouquet to a beautiful box of chocolates, to a basket of flowers complete with a darling, heart-adorned love note, this set, illustrated by Marcella Hawley, is sure to warm your heart. This 4 by 6" set even comes with 3 beautifully scripted sentiments to tell your love just how you feel.

I chose to go with a classic Valentine look for today's card, which is 5-1/4" square. I adore the sweet cookie bouquet image and uniquely fabulous sentiments in the Love Sweet Love stamp set. The Spellbinders Doily Heart Circle die is a wonderful compliment to the images in this set. I embossed the background, added a pretty heart border, some red rhinestones and a pretty Sheer Red Line Edge Ribbon bow. The pretty polka dot patterned paper from Kaiser's Miss Nelly pack finish the look off perfectly!

I colored the image in with the following Copic marker collections:

Flourishes 2-0-1-2 Challenge

Hello Stampers~

As we ring in the new year, let's be inspired by the numbers we'll use for the next 300 plus days! It's a limited supply challenge that revolves around 2012! So, here's your recipe: You can only use 2 colors. You can use 0 bling. You must use at least 1 embellishment and you can only have 2 layers! Let's see that creativity shine! If you upload to a gallery, please use the key word FLLCJAN12. Entries must be in before Friday, January 13th at 5PM EST.

For my card, I actually only used two layers, INCLUDING the card base...which just about killed me, I tell ya! My base card layer is a pretty raspberry color that I embossed with Cuttlebug's Paisley embossing folder. I also used my Scor Buddy to emboss a couple of lines on either side of the pattern, and finished it off with some faux stitching done with my White Opaque Pen. The adorable tiny hearts border and fantastic sentiment were made with Flourishes new Heartlines sentiment set. I colored in the words with my BG11 & BG13 Copic markers from the Water Collection. I used the BG13 to add polka dots to the letters.

The shape of my sentiment layer was made with the Spellbinders Labels Eighteen die. I sponged on a little ink for emphasis, and added some beautiful Light Blue Two-Tone Textured Ribbon, delicate mulberry flowers from the Prima Aire Collection, and a Whisper Heirloom Button for the center of the bow. The card size is 5-1/2" x 3-1/4".

Flourishes Sneak Peeks Day Two!

Hello Stampers~

It's day two of Flourishes sneak peeks, and we're continuing with the love-fest! ;-) Today's set is called Heartlines. It's the perfect sentiment set for sending a little love to a dear friend, whether it be on Valentine's Day or any other day of the year.

I chose to re-purpose a six-inch heart-shaped box I've had in my stash since last Valentine's Day. I pulled the cover apart, and traced the shape of the lid onto some pretty Picadilly patterned paper from Basic Grey. I then traced an identical shape onto Classic Ivory for the inside of the lid. I forgot to snap a photo; but I stamped that gorgeous heart image from the From the Heart image on the inside of the lid to dress it up a bit. Before I glued the layers together, I added some beautiful ruffled ivory ribbon around the edges to really dress it up. The luxurious Red Velvet Ribbon finished the look off perfectly. The bow is made with Solid Wrinkled Ivory Ribbon with a tiny red heart epoxy sticker in the center.
I used the Spellbinders Classic Heart Nestabilities die (S4-136) and Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Heart Nestabilities Dies (S4-137) for the sentiment layers. I sponged on a bit of Soft Sky ink, and stamped the sentiment in Lady Bug ink from Memento.

It's difficult to tell in the photo above that it is, indeed, a box; so here's a slightly different view for you:

It was really quite a simple project to put together, and I'm quite pleased with the end result. Now to decide whom to give it to... ;-)

Flourishes Year of the Dragon Challenge

So exciting to get two posts in one day, eh? ;-)

According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of 2012 is the Year of the Dragon, which begins on January 23, 2012 and ends on February 9, 2013. So, what does this predict for 2012? Success and Happiness! To play, simply be inspired by the colors of this beautiful dragon with rich red, orange
and even pink. If you upload to SCS, please use the keyword FLLCJANRW1. You have until Friday, January 20th at 5 PM EST to enter. Once you are done with your creation, be sure to link up to the Flourishes blog post using the inlinkz widget. You need to do that in order to be eligible!

Here's my card:

Okay, so I went more pink than red or orange, but I must admit that I think this is my absolute favorite card I've made for this week's release. I definitely had the most FUN making this one! In addition to the gorgeous images from the From the Heart stamp set, I got to use one of Kaiser's Decorative Wood Bird Cages. Cool, isn't it?! I didn't even do a thing to it...no distressing or coloring or anything, cuz I love it just the way it is on this card. :-)

The beautiful patterned papers are from the appropriately-named A Happy Heart pad from My Mind's Eye. The image was embossed in white and colored in using Prima watercolor pencils. I haven't played with those babies in forEVER...too much fun! I used Gamsol and blending stumps to blend the colors together. Oh, I should mention that this was on done on kraft cardstock...love the deep, rich tones that resulted.

As with everything else Flourishes carries, the ribbons on this are just LUSCIOUS! The Textured Two-Tone Fuchsia Ribbon is fast becoming a favorite (...used it on the last card I made too!), and the Pink Chiffon Floral Trim is just about the most gorgeous stuff I've ever used! I added a Basic Grey Glazed Brad, a couple of pretty pink pearls, and a sweet little flower embellishment that I colored with the RV66 Copic marker from the Raspberry Collection.

Flourishes Sneak Peeks Day One!

Hello Stampers~

I'm so excited about today's Flourishes sneak peek! It feels so great to be stamping again, and I am head-over-heels about this stamp set. :-) The set, which was designed by the fabulous Becky Fleck, is called From the Heart. The possibilities with this one are just endless! Here's a little card I made with it:

I used Spellbinders Classic Heart Nestabilities die (S4-136) and Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Heart Nestabilities Dies (S4-137) for the card base, and used a smaller of the heart dies for the center.

The beautifully ornate heart image was stamped on Classic Ivory cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and colored in with one of my very favorite Copic marker collections:

Such yummy colors, aren't they?! The pretty patterned paper is from My Mind's Eye's Lost & Found Blush collection. I sponged on a little Tim Holtz Pumice Stone Distress Ink and added some tiny black faux stitches around the edges. I added Black Pearls, pearl stick pins, and some beautiful Textured Two Tone Fuchsia Ribbon to finish things off.

Happy New Year, Friends!

Hello Stampers~

Gosh, I haven't said that in a while, huh?! The last time I posted on here was just before Thanksgiving! I needed to take some time off to take a deeeeeep breath and spend time with my family. It has been a wonderfully blessed month (and a half), and I am ready to get back in the saddle again. :-)

Today, the Flourishes team has a fun challenge for you! Ring in the new year with “Father Time” or “Baby New Year” – this challenge is a fight between new and old! To be in the running, simply use a card that showcases an image of time (i.e. one of our calendars, the Moments in Time set) or one that showcases little baby new year i.e. a baby card. Either will get you in the running.

I chose to make a baby card using Flourishes adorable Baby Love stamp set.

It's not my favorite card I've ever made, or even a great photo (grabbed the wrong lens..duh). I do so love the sweet rocking chair and teddy bear images, though. I colored them using Flourishes Copic marker collections. The pearls, ribbon, and trims can be found in the Flourishes store as well. The card size is 5-1/4" square.

I promise to write a better post, take a better picture, and make a better card next time. I'm just glad I remembered how to do any of it at all! LOL

A Day in the Country

Hello Stampers~

I have a quick post for you today. I made this card for a class last month; so the coloring on it is quite minimal for me. :-) I used Spellbinders Curved Rectangle Nestabilities Die for the card base.

The beautiful country scene is from the A Day in the Country stamp set from JustRite Stampers. That set is so right up my alley!

To make the background, I swiped on three different dye ink pads... black, white, and rust. I thought it added a neat, aged effect...almost like wood grain.

That's all from me today, folks! I know...I have tons of pictures to share with you, and I will. I promise! Just give me a little more time. I've been involved in a huge kitchen redecorating project for the last three days...so exhausting, but so worth it!

Happy birthday, sweet Ms Julie!

Hello Stampers~

Tomorrow is a very special day... It is the fabulous Julie Koerber's BIRTHDAY! I do believe she is going to be 29... Isn't that right, Julie?! ;-)

All of the Flourishes design teams got together to throw Julie a birthday blog hop bash! Julie is not only an incredible design team coordinator for Flourishes; but she is a dear friend and kindred spirit. She is the kind of person you wish lived right next door.

I chose to work with the Feminine Charm stamp set for Julie's birthday card because it reminds me so much of her. I've always admired Julie's sense of style. She is always very fashionable, and I have NEVER seen her with a hair out of place. I just HAD to use the "Hey Lady!" sentiment, since it is a phrase she often uses, and I can just hear her saying it.

The pretty patterned papers are from My Mind's Eye's Lost & Found Rosy pad. That yummy flower is one of Basic Grey's Little Black Dress Tissue Flowers. I sponged on some Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress ink to give it more of an aged look. To give the card some sparkle, I added some black Metallic Velvet Ribbon, and a few black Sparklets, including one in the center of the flower.

The sketch for my card is this week's Mojo Monday Sketch.

The dress form was stamped on Classic Ivory card stock, and colored in with the following Copic marker collections:

Hello Stampers~

Today the Flourishes design team is sharing projects from this month's new release. I chose to work with the gorgeous Petals and Peace stamp set, along with the matching Classic Keyhole Die Set.

While this set lends itself to elegant holiday cards, as you can see, it also lends itself to other occasions. I embossed the image in white on some fabulous European Watercolor Paper, and colored it all in with dye inks and a water brush. Those dainty patterned papers are from Basic Grey's new Picadilly paper pad. The card base is Classic White. I added a couple of tiny chocolate pearls to the sentiment tag, some pretty sheer brown polka dot ribbon, and a white Whisper Heirloom Button. I colored the button center with my Y38 Copic marker. The final touch is a pretty border punch along the bottom of the card.

Flourishes Alterables

Hello Stampers~

Today I have something really FUN to share with you! I get so wrapped up in card-making that I completely forget what a delight it is to work with an alterable project. Flourishes has a whole new section of them (HERE), including this gorgeous Mannequin from Kaiser.

I began by painting the mannequin with a cream acrylic paint. Once the paint was dry, I sanded some of the corners and edges to rub off some of the color. I then used a couple of Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Antique Linen and Walnut Stain) and a sponge to give it a real aged look. Next up, I added some gorgeous patterned papers from Prima's Alla-Prima pack, which I unabashedly admit that I am head-over-heals in love with...sigh).

Once I had the basics done, it was time to embellish...fun, fun, FUN! I began with a couple of sweet little doilies. The first one I added as a collar by slitting the center opening to fit over the neck, and dressing it up with a tiny string of pearls. The second doily was added in the same way to dress up the bottom. I held it in place with a bow made from some gorgeous Solid Wrinkled Ivory Ribbon, with a sweet little Arco Iris flower embellishment in the center of the bow.

I added some gorgeous Webster Estate Polka Dot Trim around the waist, wrapped in a yummy Wrinkled Ivory Ribbon, and a bit of rich Teal 1/8" Velvet Trim. I added a Prima Botanical Sugar Bloom to the center of the bow, and dressed it up with a pearl stick pin, and some pretty Zva Pearl Swirls. The final embellishment is the "brooch" on the collar, which is made from a Bo Bunny Trinket and a Sea Breeze Sparklet from Kaiser.

Now, in case you're wondering what you would do with something like this, aside from the obvious display piece, here's a shot of what I'm doing with mine.

Doesn't it look so pretty draped with some of my favorite jewelry? I just LOVE it!

Splitcoaststampers Tutorial - Holiday Card Pouch

I know I said I was going to upload my {365} pictures this weekend; but I just didn't get to it. I will catch up...promise!

Have you seen the Holiday Blitz tutorials over at Splitcoaststampers this past week? There are some really great ideas! Check them all out HERE.

I had the final tutorial, and chose to do this card pouch. I know several of you have been chomping at the bit for a tutorial on how to make it...so here you go! :-)

Here's a shot of the inside:

My pouch perfectly fits 4-1/4" square cards; but you could certainly adapt it to fit a different size card. I won't get into the details of how to make it here on my blog, because you can just hop on over to Splitcoaststampers to check out the tutorial for yourself. There's even a video for ya! Check it out HERE.

Here are the cards I made to go inside:

The cards were made using Flourishes awesome Poinsettia and Boxwood set. I think I have used that set more than any other set I own...love, love, LOVE it!

The pretty patterned papers are from Echo Park's Seasons Greetings pad. The gorgeous 1/8" Red Velvet Trim can be found in the Flourishes store, along with that awesome Spellbinders Blossom Tags Accent piece behind the main image. The image was colored in with my favorite Copic reds, which can be found in Flourishes Copic Poppy Collection. I added just a bit of Lemon Flower Soft to the center of each flower. The final touch is a Martha Stewart border punch down the left side of each card.

Flourishes Friday

Hello Stampers~

Have you been enjoying Flourishes sneak peeks this week? The sets are fabulous, as always, aren't they? Today's set is a beautiful rendition of the first Christmas, called The First Noel.

For my card, I used Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock, and this month's 123 Create Kit. I am somewhat obsessed with fancy card borders, whether it be at the bottom or down the sides. The pretty border on today's card was created with Spellbinders Classic Petal Edgeabilities Dies. The image was embossed in a sparkly embossing powder from JudiKins that I've had kicking around forever! Gosh, when I first started stamping nearly 15 years ago, all I did was emboss! Now I hardly ever touch my powders. I forget they're there! This is the perfect image for embossing...allows you to make a quick card that still has some pizzazz. :-)

The papers, ribbon, and pearls that I used all came from Flourishes brand new 123 Create Kit. Check it out:

Isn't that a beauty?! I did include one embellishment on my card that doesn't come in the kit, but that you CAN get in the Flourishes store... Antique Heirloom Buttons. I added just one to my card, and gave it some touches of gold with a Zig Gold Painty Pen. The card size is 5-1/4" square.

Joy Is In The Air

Oh my gosh, you are going to LOVE today's Flourishes sneak peek set! It's called Joy Is In the Air, and it comes with a beautiful snow globe and several sweet, wintry scenes. Here's my sample:

I chose to use the little girl building a snowman image, and created a 6" x 3-1/4" card. I used a decorative edge punch down the left edge, and some yummy Spellbinders Nestabilities Dies for the main image. I am in love with those Picot Edge Circles! The fabulous papers are from Prima's North Country paper pad. I added three Cameo Sparklets from Kaiser in the upper left corner. I colored them with a E29 Copic marker. I also used a bit of the gorgeous 1/8" Brown Velvet Ribbon from May Arts. The snowman was made sparkly with a Sakura Clear Stardust Gelly Roll Pen.
