	It's "Mardi Gras & Fat Tuesday" My Plans for Lent \| Whitney Houstons's Homegoing Service Since I can't be in New Orleans, I had to celebrate Mardi Gras and Fat Tuesday at home. I will be celebrating Lent. It will be a season of rest and replenishing and only weekly video uploads on Thursdays. It is quite laborious trying to create content, work full time, study web design, be creative and maintain a happy and healthy home life! In 40 days, I plan to emerge a stronger, rested and wiser woman. I have always been transformed and blessed during Lent. I love pomp and circumstance and REGALIA! So watching the entire Whitney Houston Homegoing Funeral Service was amazing. As with any funeral, I was inspired and Whitney's funeral was as beautiful as a funeral can be. I've never seen one like it on TV or in real life. I am grateful that Mrs. Cissy Houston shared it with the world. With Whitney being a Leo and I felt like she was the ultimate "friend in my head". Listening to the expressions, I can tell that she was funny, warm, genuine and headstrong! We would have gotten along just fine! I am undecided what I want to do with it. I deep conditioned with the Cantu Shea Butter Rinse Out Conditioner. I used my Chi Heat Protectant but as an extra measure of protection, I added a few drops of Jamaican Black Castor Oil. I like to use Ya Man Marley hair. I pre-soaked it in an apple cider vinegar (ACV) rinse to take away that chemical smell it sometimes has. I am debating about cutting the hair in half but I'm not sure. Once it's cut, it's cut. Video Request by SheSellsSeaShellscom www.youtube.com At the time of this recording, custom thumbnails are reserved for YouTube partners which is why I am always encouraging you all to continue to strive for FULL YOUTUBE PARTNERSHIP! I used 2 key programs to create this video: Screencasting Software: Screenflow for Mac to give you a visual reference to the steps I use and Adobe Photoshop CS5 to create the graphic thumbnail. In this tutorial, I am only using text but you could add copyright free images. YouTube requires that images in custom thumbnails be related to the video content and not some misleading images. For example, don't put a "hot guy or girl" as your thumbnail and the video is really about your affiliate marketing program. YouTube sometimes has a way of finding the most unflattering images to offer as a thumbnails. They catch you with your mouth open or eyes closed or both! Not a good look! Custom thumbnails are the way to go. They draw visitors to your channel and perhaps, increase your view count. I hope this tutorial has been helpful. Feel free to ask questions. I don't count it because that only lasted till lunch time day one and I quit. Working in the cookie factory was like the episode of I Love Lucy when she and Ethel worked in the candy factory! I even turned down a date with a very nice boy who wanted to come see me at 4. I looked at him like he had 3 heads and told him no way, Oprah would be on. I have no idea where that guy is today but I am a better person for seeing the Oprah Show. Don't get me wrong, I did a little dirt in college. My friends and I would take road trips to other schools in the SWAC. We also went to clubs and partied with the fraternities after games or a random thursday and stagger in late at night. We also loved to party with a non-Greek group called MFWC. We knew NOT the drink their punch and definitely not the Que or the Kappa punch. Sometimes we made a 9 am class on Friday and sometimes we didn't. Not everyone had a car so sometimes we skipped Friday afternoon classes in order to catch a ride home early. Because I went to Alcorn on an academic scholarship, I was supposed to maintain a 3.0 Grade Point average, After my sophomore year, I ended up with a 2.99 and lost my scholarship! The following year, I ended up having work study in the campus library. In my mind, I thought I'd rather have a student loan so I would not have to work and could get a fat refund check and go shopping!Whew. I dodged a bullet with that one. Don't get me wrong. It is also a chance to reflect and maybe realize why you are the person you are today. Why you do the things you do. I was born in a small town and it was not always easy being an only child. Because I was small, I was often the target of bullies but Leo instincts took over the potential to allow any of that non-sense. Attempted bullying made me a strong minded person. I never gave in to peer pressure and joined the crowd in group decisions to pick on a defenseless person. Rather, it made me seek that person out, be their friend and stick up for them. I thought it was due to my staying up late, working hard both at home and at work but come to find out, my doctor diagnosed me as severely Vitamin D deficient. Most tests range between 30 and 100, my result was an 11! Treatment for my Vitamin D deficiency. I know that can be difficult because it's hard sometimes to trust another human with your humanly struggles. The crowd was very attentive and captivated by this movie. It made me very appreciative of the service of anyone who has served the US Military but especially the Tuskegee Airmen. I wanted to wait and see it with my Dad who is retired from the Air Force and loves to fly but hey, he IS retired and probably saw it earlier today during the matinee! I just hope he doesn't want to start flying formations in the Civil Air Patrol planes! Oh brother! I digress. They are either transitioning or have Big Chopped but won't wear it out in public. I've been wearing my natural hair out more and making more natural hair videos. I know this is probably borderline mean but I just want them to come on with it. The hair in this video even made one of them want to up the Big Chop date! Yay. I have heard it all from them why they can't: Them: I don't have your hair texture. Me: The kinkier the hair, the better the twist out! Them: Look at all this new growth. Me: Just cut if off! Them: These two textures make me want a relaxer. Me: Just cut it off! Them: I am not ready. Me: Wear braids until you transition! Them: If I BC, I'm going to look like a boy. Me: But you're NOT a boy. Them: I wear glasses. Me: Yeah and you've gotta see no matter how you wear your hair. I know every natural has to do it when their time is ready. The alert show the link to the online site where the term appears. Usually the alert points back to my YouTube channel video posts or random blog post. However, there are times when the term has been used elsewhere. For example, the alert I received today pointed to a website that featured my video on the front page! I was like What The. . . After further examination, I realized the video had been rightfully EMBEDDED and not RIPPED & STOLEN. If the viewer clicks the video, they are taken back to my YouTube Channel - which means I still get all view counts and Adsense revenue generated from the outside website. I was about to shampoo my hair because I was getting ready for Homecoming and Day 1 was "Dress Like The King Of Pop - Michael Jackson Day." I wanted to shampoo because I had used a wacky but wonderful product in my hair. Running out of time, I decided that I'd rather watch the NFL Wild Card games instead of shampooing my hair. There is no twisting video footage because sometimes you can't record everything! But I did record the takedown process! I'm glad I did. To Twist On Dirty Hair- I used Hawaiian Silky "Dry Look" Gel Activator (the clear one) I think I may have misted my hair with water and twisted randomly. The biggest issue was popular vlogger Perez Hilton posting her video on his website. No harm right? Wrong. He RIPPED the video instead of embedding it and made no reference to Chescaleigh and the team who produced the video. More wrongs: Chescaleigh was losing Adsense revenue since the video was not pointing back to her YouTube channel. Lessons learned: 1. Make quality content. You never know when a video will go viral! 2. Watermark all content uploaded to the Internet. You never know where your video will end up embedded or ripped! 	Southern Cooking \| The Creative Lady's New Year's Traditional Meal Don't let the Christian Louboutins distract you: I am a Southern Girl Through & Through. I am a history buff who loves visiting the Vicksburg Military Park. I love taking the less traveled path. I grew up eating food from my Big Mama's garden. I was green and organic before it was popular. It was a part of living in the country. Don't misunderstand being country for being illiterate or ignorant. I'm far from it. My family places a high value on education. I've gotten my share and the transcripts to prove it. Every year, my family has a traditional meal that consists of black eye peas, pork hocks, cabbage, rice, sausage and cornbread. In this video, I share my food preparation for 2012. I've gotta admit, dinner was later than usual because it is hard to film and cook in a timely fashion. The Presto pressure cooker is my secret weapon to get meals cooked in a flash.
