Yep you've read the blog title correctly. The high for today in Calgary, Alberta is a whopping -27 degrees celsius.

Let's just say it's freakin cold!

My 1 hour commute to work this morning was slow and steady. By the time I parked, my car had finally started to warm up.

On a day like this, one of the few items that would make it bearable when outside are Moon Boots.

I personally think they look ridiculous. Mainly these styles.....

And even their accessories are a bit ridiculous. I am not feeling this...

But besides all the ridiculousness, I went on an internet mission this morning. Mainly to see if I could find at least one pair of Moon Boots that I like. Guess what? I found not 1 but 2:)

Great Chunky Scarves made in Calgary

Well the temperatures haven't risen here in Calgary, meaning the winter air is still quite bitter. I've wrapped my neck with a flimsy scarf over the passed couple of days, which made me realize something....

How in the world have I survived living in Calgary WITHOUT a chunky scarf to keep me warm???

Trust me, I am in a state of shock myself! I don't "do" hats, but scarves are an absolute "winter must have".

I'm on the hunt for a warm, yet interesting scarf to carry me through the rest of winter, (which could last another 2 months or 4).

My Fave Winter Layered Looks

The past few days in Calgary have been super warm which means that we are experiencing a Chinook (a warm dry wind blowing down the eastern slopes of the Rockies).

It's a great break from the harsh temperatures that we've had to bear last week....

So I'm in a dress today. Yay!!!

However, I always have to remind myself that as quickly as Chinooks come they go. I'll be wearing layered winter looks in no time, (my weather app says Sunday).

Last year, I planned on buying an African drum for two reasons. First, I was hoping to get into drumming and second, I figured it would be a great addition to my home decor....

Sadly, I didn't get one:(

I don't really do the "resolutions thing" but I have decided to practice the following for 2013

In November I posted about gold jewelry (http://thecreativemixx.blogspot.ca/2012/11/bring-on-gold.html) and how I'd like to incorporate it into my wardrobe. Well, I am officially doing that as we speak.
