I spent two days in Training and then I was able to go to a clients site to help with some Work flow issues they were having. then I made it back and had lunch at the Columbia, which is a famous restaurant in Ybor City. They have one of the best salads that I have had in a long time.

Well Beth and I had a great time n Costa Rica. We got to visit with my parents, visit La Paz, and most of I got to rest a bit before engaging fully in to my next opportunity.

The trek from the farm to the airport can be smooth or it can be a long drawn out process of traffic jams and wrecks. Basically, if a wreck happens, the entire city of San Jose can be shut off to specific parts of the country. We were lucky this time as there was only one motorcycle accident and traffic on the way to the airport was heavy. We were out the door with our good bye’s by 8:30 AM for a 12:30 PM flight out of Costa Rica. The check-in process was very smooth. I only had about 20 minutes of real waiting. The best experience I had in all my years I have travelled to Costa Rica.

Beth did very well on the plane and was even invited up to the cockpit to see where the pilots fly the plane. Captain Chuck explained to Beth about all the instruments and showed how some turn on lights and other make the plane move forward and turn. We had about a 30 minute wait on the plane before taking off so that was some well spent time.

I look forward to going back to Costa Rica but I am glad to be home. Pura Vida.

The park was open and it looked great, but let me tell you that it is a long haul from Paraiso, Cartago. It is not impossible, but it is a long day. We got in the car and left the farm at 7:00 am. Smooth sailing until we got to Heradia, Costa Rica, north of the airport. Then we got lost for about an hour in the town. Driving up and down the roads until we found a taxi driver that would help up with directions. I have found that if you are lost, the Taxi’s will let you know where it is.

Once we found the road to La Paz. We took the hour and a half drive up the Poas Volcano. We saw the new roads, the new hills, and the scares of devastation that the earthquake left behind. Most of the villages and communities have rebuilt.

We finally got to La Paz where we bought our tickets and began he tour. My daughter got to hold a Toucan, many butterflies, and a hummingbird as it ate. Then we went to the waterfall trail and she got to see some of the biggest waterfalls in Costa Rica. One was 120 feet tall and the other was about 70 feet tall. We hiked the mile from one end of the river to the other and then we took that bus back to the entrance.

After lunch we got back in the car and made our way back to Paraiso, Cartago. Another two and a half hours in the truck we were home. Before 6:00 PM. My daughter went to bed early and slept for a long time. She had a very busy day. My lesson learned this day was to hire a driver to take you there and back. As they know where they are going.

Pura Vida

At 6:00 in the morning we heard what we thought was a gun shot. It turned out to be the Local Priest and his amigos shooting off the fireworks that will bring the rain and good fortune to the farm. One of the locals said that they would be at the farm around 10:00 this morning and they showed up in true Costa Rican fashion at 11:30.

We heard music, and trucks pull up the drive way. One truck had a statue of a couple of cows and a cross. When the convoy arrived, everyone got off the trucks and came onto the porch and the fun began.

We started with a prayer, followed by the sprinkling of holy water that touched everyone. We the recited the lords prayer and we made the customary donation. 3000 colones. We also give them a bushel of bananas as well.

When the ceremony was over, they regressed back to the entry of the farm and lit off some more fireworks to finish the blessing.

The whole thing took about 5 minutes and cost about $6.00 for the show. I am hoping that the coffee is now blessed enough so that it produces a lot.

I am sure that my parents feel much better knowing that the farm is blessed. but we are going to fertilize just to make sure.

Well my experience with Trading from the far has not faired that well. I will need a bit more power and connection speed if this is to become a reality for me. I had my numbers and my time set up to correspond to the open, but when the bell rang, the VM i was connecting to did not send the data fast enough to me. Even though I used stops, i was not able to get into the trades fast enough.

I am in the middle of a coffee farm in Costa Rica. The speed of the internet connection is DSL speed at best. So no more trading this trip. I will monitor the markets to ensure that I keep up with them, but to actually place a trade, that will have to wait until I get back to the home office.

Eventually I will have the Internet Speed needed to trade right.

After getting up, a couple of the local workers on the farm came up for coffee. They have been with our family for the past 14 years. They remember Beth when she was a little baby and were surprised that she was so big. Geraldo could not believe that she was already 5 years old.

Here is Beth with Grand-pa enjoying some time together.

Well we saw that after breakfast i looked at my watch and was surprised that the time was only 8:30 it seemed that more time has passed. i am now just relaxing and watching the birds and drink my coffee with my Dad.

Weather was cool last night but the weather will be warm today. We are off to Orosi to see some friends and to drop off some beds; and it is not even noon yet.

We got to Costa Rica today and it was the usual hum drum through the airport where they did make some new improvements to immigration and the customs area. It is funny that every piece of luggage is scanned at this airport, but there was no one looking at the x-ray pictures on the other side. So our bags went in and out with no problems.

Mom met Beth and I at the airport with perfect timing. I was surprised at how hot it was in San Jose. From Austin, the weather here was a bit muggy and warm. We proceeding to get a hamburger from Doc’s, the best Hamburger in San Jose. Plus their fries are made fresh everyday.

Then back to the farm where the sun was baking the plants and animals. By this time we had been up for about 12 hours and we were getting tired. I took a quick power nap and Beth wen swimming.

Tonight was about getting the computer set up to trade. I got team viewer installed and talking ack to the home office where my trading platform is looking good. Since the US is on Daylight Savings Time, i will begin trading at 7:30 in the morning here. The only thing that poses a threat here at the farm is the Internet connection to Orosi. IT is not the fastest in the world, but after looking at the set up I did see the numbers moving and i always trade with stops. so it the numbers hit, I will get in and out.
