We've actually sold a couple mp3/cd sets of the yet to be recorded event. It's our first revenue for this site so I'm very encouraged. We initially we at about 70 subscribers right around Christmas and it seems to be organically growing at the pace of 1 person per day. I know, not much. But we weren't doing ANY marketing. Finally, this week I got around to promoting a giveaway. We going to give a free subscription to Economist magazine. The drawing will be held April 30th. All newsletters subscribers will be eligible....etc. etc. So far it's worked ok. I've added about 80 subscribers in the last few days so we've just about doubled. We really need to get our list to about 1000 members I believe, before we can really start testing other ways we can monetize the site. However, I think we will always keep the newsletter free.

2. Been working on a Clickbank product. My friend gave me some digital products and I created a sales page/delivery page last week and have just been driving traffic to it the last few days so see if I could get any conversions. The good news is I did get one sale on about 150 unique visitors which isn't terrible, but not that great either. It's actually pretty good when you consider it's my first attempt at putting something like this together. I'm going to redesign the whole thing and possible rename the product itself, but you can still see the experimental site for a short time here. Increased cash flow. By the way, if you sign up with clickbank (it's free) and you get your own link and make a sale, you get 50% as a commission.

3. I finally got around to monetizing my sweepstakes site. I didn't really do much, except throw in some affiliate links to other sweepstakes/prize sites that pay on a free registration. These are in the Welcome email that people receive after they register for my giveaways. Last night I had 4 people register and one played the other games which put $2 in my pocket. Not bad for complete autopilot but I suspect that it will get much more fun when the numbers get higher. Some days I have upwards of 50 people register, but I didn't have this offer set up yet.

4. Been working on other affiliate things that I'm still testing out. Hopefully more to report later.

So that's it. Hope everyone has a great week!

Rambo In The News

In case you don't remember my earlier post on Rambo I was surprised to see this review today in the Washington Post.

I still think Weird Al was better.

Holy Crap....

No, not the biggest emergency Fed rate cut in 23 years although that does deserve holy crap status.

No, not that actor guy who killed himself today...

but this.

I guess it was just a matter of time.

Burning Questions

This video answers some questions I was wondering about. Having a great time out here visiting friends. It's about 9:30am and breakfast is cooking up and it's about 10 degrees outside. Yesterday, the high was 8 degrees and last night it got down to minus 10 degrees.

Yesterday we trekked up the side of a mountain near the Idaho border using snow shoes and found a clearing where we could sled....which had to have been the best sledding I've ever done. A steep angle in about 4 feet of pristine powder. We travel back tomorrow...back to the tropical weather of Charles Town to get ready for 2008.

Law Enforcement

A couple nights ago I was up late watching videos and came across this one. Not bad for having just created the site yesterday. We'll see how many sign up by next Sunday night. I expect the numbers to trail off and probably end up around 200.

In other "news" have you seen the new trailer for Rambo IV? Maybe it's just me, but Sly seems to be looking a little tired. I guess you can only defeat hundreds of enemies single handedly so many times before the challenge becomes a little boring.

I suppose it's hard to live up to your past performances.

If I were casting the part I know who I'd pick instead of Sly. She had a 6:55am flight out of BWI so we headed off at about 4:30 which meant getting up at 4:00. I know some of you get up that early every day so I'm not complaining...just stating the facts. As we were driving I was thinking about creating a new website that just gives stuff away for free. No gimmicks, no tricks, no strings attached. I would give away something every Sunday night to a random winner chosen from whoever signs up on the site. I have a lot of stuff around the house that I never use and instead of just throwing it away or taking it all in a trash bag to the goodwill dumpster, I wondered it I could just create a site that would generate a big email list. Anyone who would sign up would get a weekly email from me with 3 bits of information. Congratulations to the winner, what the next week's prize will be and an affiliate link to a sponsor. If they click on the affiliate link and buy something, good for the affiliate and good for me, but if they don't that's totally fine. I get to give stuff that I don't use or want away and random people that I don't know get to win things. And who doesn't like to win stuff? Thus, at about 1:00pm today, http://ChristmasEveryWeek.com was created and as of 10:30pm tonight, I have 54 people registered (37 of which have confirmed their email) and NONE of them are people that I know. Pretty cool. This week's prize? A brand new DVD of Jack Black's movie "Orange County" still wrapped in plastic. So go ahead and sign up. You've got nothing to lose and by registering you will be included in EVERY GIVEAWAY I do forever on this site as long as your email address stays subscribed.

Enter To Win A Prize Every Week For Free!

Name:

Email:

Address1:

Address2:

City:

State:

Zip:

Statistics

Mark Twain reportedly once said, "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." Which is why I rarely get to concerned about stats in the media. However, it was nice to finally see a positive statistic being reported by a reputable news source.
