In that time I've been able to find some bands I didn't have time to check out. So here is a list of bands to check out. Most I found on 102.3 BXR others in other places. Enjoy.

Mumford and Sons
The Avett Brothers
Arcade Fire
Duffy
Florence & The Machine
The Black Keys
Michael Franti & Spearhead

That's some as I will add others as I remember them.
Others to check out:
Plain White T's
Meg and Dia
Kate Nash
Lily Allen
Katy Perry

So check them out.

A-ROD is A-FRAUD!

Is it wrong for me to be happy that Alex Rodriguez admitted to taking a form of steroids?

I am an avid baseball fan. Its my favorite sport. However, its been under a dark cloud for quite a few years, and in my opinion, never fully recovered from the strike of 1994.

This latest A-rod story is making me smile today. The reason is simple: BARRY BONDS!

Barry Bonds is not known for being nice to the media. He doesn't want to be interviewed (Never has), and wants to go out there and be the best player he can be. Now if that reason is to win a championship, or set the all time Home Run record, or just because he's self-centered doesn't matter. The FACT is that HE IS the all-time home run king with 762 home runs. It pisses off reporters because he wasn't nice to them. It pisses off Yankees fan because it moves Babe Ruth to 3rd all-time, and it pisses off Hank Aaron fans (and Hank himself, who is a bit self-centered) because Bonds name is now in the record book.

Bonds also holds most home runs in a season with 73. We have come to a pretty reasonable conclusion that steroids had some part of it. Nobody ever wanted to accept Bonds as the best, some even considering Mark McGwire better, even after it was confirmed he took steroids.

Why does this matter to A-Rod? Because A-Rod was supposed to be the clean-cut savior that makes everything right again. The problem is that despite being photo friendly and nice guys to the reporters, he as also self-centered.

There's no doubt that barring injury, A-ROD will surpass Bonds' all-time record, now it comes down to how soon the asterik wil be placed beside his name.

If anything good (at least today) is to come out of this is that this generation has had a savior for baseball for quite some time. However, he has been injured the better half of this decade, and now won't break the record he was destined for. That man is Ken Griffey Jr. He is one of the all-time greats, and I have yet to hear any steroid talk about him. Which it might not be long before it starts, but why bother.

Let's face it though. SPORTS in general has become nothing more than entertainment. It used to be about purity, and honor, and the love of the game. Now since 1985, every one of the 4 major us sports have had a lockout/strike whatever you call it. Since then its been all for show. Its a shame that the truly great athletes from previous eras are now diminished because sports HAS become entertainment. Yet that doesnt change the fact that the stars of today still deserves recognition for what they've done for the millions of fans everywhere: ENTERTAIN US.

THANK YOU to all the athletes who have entertained me throughout the years. I will still continue to support you, but not because you guys are the best of the best, but because you make the games you play worth watching.

You never stood up for me, you coward!

Ahh, summer is here. Maybe not officially (or is it, I forget) and you can see the signs. Fighting leading to people leaving the View.

Should I care about this? No, not really. To be honest, I don't too much, but its become fodder on every show, so I'll put in my two cents. First and foremost, why can't Elisabeth feud with Joy Behar, so Joy will leave?

Ok, now being honest. Rosie is upset that Elisabeth didn't defend her in the media. First off, it shouldn't be Elisabeth's fault to defend her. If she wants to defend Rosie, then she can. In hindsight, as friends (which they previously claimed to be), Elisabeth SHOULD have defended Rosie's beliefs although they may not be her own. However, she didn't and since they see the opposite ends of the spectrum, then Elisabeth really had no obligation to defend Rosie O'Donnel. I seriously doubt Rosie would defend Elisabeth's views in the media, that is IF Rosie would do media appearances.

Granted it is Rosie's belief and right to decline TV or media appearances because she doesn't like the evil ways they are run, but that doesn't mean that everyone should defend those beliefs on her behalf since she doesn't.

It all started on the War in Iraq. You can say what you want about the war, you have the right. In my opinion, we did what we had to do, and that was to go over there and defeat an evil empire before they attacked us. That's not my religious view, but that is my worldly view. We did accomplish that goal, now even though we did do that, we can't just bring them (the troops) home overnight. I will agree with most that we had no exit strategy, and that we still probably don't, but we can't just say "Job well done troops, there's nothing left to do, so go home". That would be like winning the Super Bowl by 3 with 2 minutes left, then putting in all the reserves. It makes no sense. We went over there to help the Iraqi citizens. We can't leave now, we have to teach them to be free citizens again. Thats tougher then most think.

I agree we need a timetable to bring the troops home (I'm finally given the Democrats that one). However, I still don't see why that should be public information. The only ones that should know that is the U.S. and Iraqi governments. After that if word gets out that they are defenseless, and they will be unprotected and someone wants to fight them, then we should let them. Which will probably happen if a democrat is elected.

Since I'm probably gotten some people riled up, might as well keep going. We need an overhaul of the government, and even the government agrees. I'm not sure who could do a better job of this, but I'd still feel safer with a Republican than a democrat in the White House. Now don't get me wrong, I am not behind ALL the Republicans 100%. As a matter of fact I only support one guy 100% and his name is Sam Brownbeck. His views are essentially the same as mine, and I agree on almost every one of the issues he does. I can't support Guiliani 100 percent because of his right to choose stance. That doesn't sit well with me. I find it funny though that most all Republicans can be a right to life kinda guy, yet fully support the death penalty. How odd is that. I admit I used to be like that too, but I think everyone has the right to life without us calling the shots.

That is unless they are defending their beliefs or country, or fighting a war that may or may not been justified. There isn't nothing cowardly about this post, so what's your take Rosie O'Donnel?

Agree or disagree with me bloggers? them give me feedback and we'll take on a friendly discussion.

Mistakes Abound? What Is Wrong With Me Lately?

This week has been a week of bad choices. Not life threatning ones, but ones involving what I watch and listen to. I watched Alpha Dog, which wasn't up to what I hoped it would be. Then I watched and read results for WWE Judgement Day and Monday Night Raw. Both were... well lacking to say the least. Now my latest blunder? The Jamie Kennedy CD. Now I did buy it used, so I only paid 4 or 5 bucks for it, but it was too much. I knew it would be dumb, but this is quite awful. A song with Bob Saget rapping is the best song so far. Seriously. If has terrible lyrics and the ideas suck. I thought that JK was trying to be serious, somewhat, but this is horrendous. If you've heard Little T and One Track Mike, they blow JK out of the water. Think of it as well, a R-rated version mix of Adam and Andrew (I'm A GANGSTER?) and Bobby Bishop, and KJ-52. So yeah, I guess I learned from my mistakes.

On the flip side, I did buy some other CD's including the new Plain White T's CD and CD's from: The Wallflowers, Justin McRoberts (underrated singer), the No Boundaries CD (Kosovo one with Last Kiss by Pearl Jam), a Facedown Family sampler, Shine mk, Jump 5, Samantha Mumba, noggin toboggan, No Mercy, and The Cross Movement. I got 10 CD's for 10 bucks. Then I bought some others for like 5 bucks total. So I got a few CD's cheap. I also got some T-shirts too. One is Mister Rogers saying "It's good in the hood". and one with a roll of TP that says "Thats how I roll". So thats cool.

In other news, I finally fixed our riding lawn mower. Since my dad died, I haven't done too many projects that he'd have done. This is the first. I had to fix a tire (repair it not just air it up), and replace the battery. I feel really good that I got it done since I usually never finish a project. So that makes me happy.

Well, sorry for jumbled ramblings tonight, I thought though I'd give an update of SOMETHING.

BTW, the Royals are getting better, for now.

Well, peace out.

"I Would Never Hurt You"- Alpha Dog Review

So I was undecided what to talk about today, so I thought I'd give a rare movie review. I usually don't do this because I end up giving the ending away, but I'll try not to this time.

I watched Alpha Dog last night, finally, as its about the only movie I want to see that's recently came to DVD. Its inspired by actual events, and honestly I expected it to be somewhat like Bully (but it wasn't, really).

This drug dealer owes someone money (They say later it was 1,200 but early in the film he was needing 800). Anyways, he doesn't have the money, and as a result, the guy he owes money to kidnaps his guys younger brother. I believe (at last what the movie conveyed) was that they never had any intention of doing it, they just thought spur of the moment.

Realizing what the done, they also realized the kid was a pretty easygoing kid, and the treated him well. After a certain point however, they realize they face possibly life without parole because they did indeed kidnap someone. Now they have to figure out how to deal with a out of control situation. Will he keep his mouth shut, or will he run to the cops? Should they just let him go, or kill him?

I honestly was let down with this movie. I don't believe everything that happens in the movie is real and the story is pretty simple. It could have been a 60 minute movie and all the specifics could have been delivered. However it seems to drag on with a final time of one hour and 58 minutes.

Its rated R for drug references and usage (which there is a lot), nudity (very small amount), strong language (constant), and the nature in which these real events occur. What I did like was that it was rated R. It involved drug dealers, so obviously drugs and obsene language would play a huge factor in the movie. That didn't even bother me. As a matter of fact, it helped the story. They used it as a necessary tool, unlike other movies that feel obliged to use it to raise eyebrows. I hardly noticed the nudity, and not to say it wasn't needed, but it could have been left out, it didn't bother me though.

The brightest spot of the movie in my opinion was Justin Timberlake. I didn't really believe the other characters and they never really acted that great (not to take away from great actors, but they dropped the ball in this movie). JT was a breakout star, and as a result, he deserves more movie roles.

If I had to rate the movie, I would give it 3 out of 5 stars, mainly because of the real events that happened, the dialogue, and Justin Timberlake.

So I hope you enjoyed the review, and if you saw the movie tell me what you thought, if you agree or disagree.

Well, later everyone.

The Thrill Of Victory, OR the agony of defeat?

I thought it would be fun to do a sports themed blog today. My sports viewing habits have changed in the last year and a half, as I don't watch and keep up with all the sports like I used to (is the NHL playoffs still going?) However a lot of topics I'd like to discuss today, so lets get cracking.

I was watching ESPN's Outside The Lines the other day, oddly I was flipping the channels and stopped it there for some reason or another. The show isn't a favorite, and I forgot they still show it. Anyway's they was discussing pregnant athletes and how the risk losing their scholarships. In reality I was quite appalled that the story took place at all.

Female athletes are worried that they will lose their schlorship money, and a lot of them have decided to abort the baby. Here's what bugs me (beside's the abortion part): they know that they are athletes (or student-athletes) and they feel they are being wronged by the university for taking their schloarship money away. As a university president, I would feel wronged be these athletes getting pregnant. I know its harsh, but since you cannot pay student-athletes (which is the ONLY way to go, student athletes should NEVER be paid), your compensation to them is giving them a scholarship. Therefore it is a binding agreement upon signing your letter of intent that you perform the the highest of abilities, or else you breech the contract (i.e. scholarship) So if you get pregnant, in the words of Willy Wonka, YOU GET NOTHING, GOOD DAY SIR! (or ma'am in this case).

There is a gray area here, that I will discuss, most of who they talked to was unmarried in this story, no apparant signs of boyfriends either. However, I do believe in using protection, and that the parties understand the consequences of having sex (I'm starting to get creepy, but I am going somewhere with this). Either wait until they graduate, or abstain until marriage (which I personally believe). However, what happens if the athlete IS married (as is an increasing number of college students are doing now). I still believe you should wait until your college career is over, thats my thoughts personally. Ultimately it comes down to this: which is more important to you, your personal sex life or you contractually binding sports life (which must mean something since you recieved a scholarship). I'm not talking about small universities either, I forget which ones were used personally except I know Memphis was one, and another was I think a Big Ten school (maybe Syracuse or Rutgers). Anyways my point is that you must be an excetional athlete to get a scholarship to these top rated Division I schools.

Therefore I believe no fault on this story should fall on the administrators of these schools, but the athletes themselves, we teach students at an early age that they must be responsible and this is an obvious situation that they must think about beforehand, sex or basketball (or any other sport).

The St. Louis Cardinals get thumped by Detroit last night 14-4. Honestly, who cares. While I will back down from my statement I made last fall calling the Cardinals a fluke (I was wrong), I was also very vocal in the offseason saying the Cardinals would not repeat, and more importantly, they wouldn't be anywhere as good this year by losing all their players. 14-4 is horrible, but its not too unexpected. The Cardinals have enough tools to possibly be in the Wild Card chase, but I seriously doubt they make it past the first round (if they even make the playoffs).

The Kansas City Royals have one a couple in a row, and I believe are now TIED for worst team in baseball. I must also admit, my hopes were higher than most for the boys in blue, but I also said I'd be happy with a 81-81 record this year. I even said I'd settle for any record as long as they don't lose a 100 games. They still have a shot at .500 but it looks doubtful. I might be the only one, but I STILL THINK they need a new manager. They can't afford to keep losing every season. They need to show SOME promise or else, they will never be anything but a laughingstock. Gill Meche has proved me wrong, and is the star of this squad. I don't think they can turn it around in a couple years though until they get rid of Mike Sweeney (who I personally like) and get some good young players ready to go now. I think Joey Gathright is going to be a key player in the next couple years, and I think Tony Pena Jr. could be a potential All-Star. They have the tools, but they need to fill in one or two more puzzle pieces.

So did Brett Favre REALLY want out of Green Bay? Who knows, who cares? I like him, but I can't really see him perform at the level he has in previous seasons, and therefore I think he should stay put. He might only have one or two more good seasons left, why waste it by being sent elsewhere to learn a new system? Trent Green is in the same boat, but his future isn't in stone in KC. Will he be the starter for Game 1 in the fall for KC? My money says yes, but I also think he could be shipped out, I just think KC will get what they deserve for him. So might as well keep him (which they should have done all along, and dumped Huard, setting up Brodie Croyle as the next QB in KC). We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

The Rocket, is the new talk of the baseball pages, WHY? He still has gas in the tank, but is he worth all that dinero? I think not. He's being paid more than A-ROD! All the while, A-Rod has played all season, reported to camp ON-TIME, and is an everyday contributor, whil Clemens is going to help out every five days from June to if successful November 1st. Thats asenine. They called the Gill Meche deal crazy, what happens when Rocket Man blows out his are in his third start? Money well spent Steinbrenner. In the words of Homer Simpson: OH, BY THE WAY I WAS BEING SARCASTIC!

I think I'll stop there, since I was only going to give my views on things, and ended up being the sports version of Lewis Black.

So until next time, give me some ideas to discuss, and leave some comments, I'd love to hear from ya.

The Sunny Side Of Liquid Eggs

The title has really no relevance to what I'm going to discuss, but I needed a sunny side of something. Liquid Eggs popped in my head, and I do have a story to tell involving liquid eggs that occurred today.

I had two days off from work (if you wasn't aware, I work at Wendy's) and returned today. For breakfast we sell liquid eggs (they actually taste okay, well they suffice), anyways today we noticed the packaging changed on the liquid eggs. They are now packed in pouches identical to the frosty mix. In addition, they are located on the shelf next to the vanilla frosty mix. I can't wait for this mishap to occur where someone misstakes the eggs for frosty mix.

Anyways, that isn't whats on my mind. Today I'll discuss a few various topics including politics, Barry Bonds, graduation, and more. So here it goes.

I watched some of the Republican debates last night. I will admit as a borderline GOP, I felt mostly bored with it. 10 candidates vying for time is too much. They should do 2 smaller ones and then one between the top 3 candidates (Rudy, McCain, and Romney). Overall, I was impressed by almost all, but I was more attentive on Sam Brownbeck (KS) and Mike Huckabee (AR) the most. In reality I think Guiliani will win the nomination, but I hope its Brownbeck. I stand by his decisions on most of the issues. Check out his myspace to see where he stands. Most of the candidates have a myspace now so check them all out.

Barry Bonds has cooled off a bit lately. I might be one of a few who wants him to break Hank Aaron's record, but I hope he waits until early July to do it. I'll be out of TV range in mid-June and want to see him break the record live. Regardless of how the sportswriters and fans percieve him as an egomaniac, he is still a great athlete. If he was nicer to everyone during his career, Bonds would be loved like McGwire was, but instead, this will just be another record broken until the next guy comes along to take the glory from him (Ken Griffey Jr. or A-Rod perhaps?)

Next time, I'll devote an entire post on sports, baseball in general, but all sports. However I still have more to say so lets keep moving.

Graduation time is upon us, and while I admit it IS an honor for all the graduates to walk across the stage and recieve their diploma, why do the ceremonies have to be so boring? It seems every year its hotter and hotter and the ceremonies last FOREVER. I plan on attending two this year. One indoors at 2 in the afternoon and another the next day at 2 outside. Despite being outside, it will still be a long and tedious adventure just staying awake for it all. However, I would like to congratulate all the graduates for the Class of 2007. May you future be bright.

Finally I'll close on some comments on Jerry Fallwell. I have heard mixed opinions on him, and while its not my job to judge him, I must say that he helped mix religion and politics together and for that I congradulate him. I have never believed in the seperation of church and state, and he was a crusader in helping nix the seperation. Love him or hate him, America has lost a powerful religious leader. I don't condone everything he had said or done, but its always a loss when someone who tries to fight the good fight passes away. So heres to Jerry Fallwell, I hope to see you in heaven one day.

Well thats it for now, I'm going to try to get the word out on the blog, and tell everyone to see it and possibly comment on it.

See you later

Time's A'wasting

I mentioned earlier this week I would make some changes on here, and well here they are. It may seem a little subtle at first, but as I write more, and do more on here, I'll change accordingly. I think what I'm going to like on here most oddly enough, is that I can use big words. What I mean by that is my dialogue in private tends to be more, shall I say, smarter, than when I have to be in public. I'm not saying I hang around idiots, but I tend to use words often that people don't understand. I have grown tired of explaining myself, so I tend to speak watered-down, at work mainly, but in other public places. So if you don't know a word I use on here, here's a link for you to remember, http://dictionary.reference.com/ its an online dictionary and I admit I even use it sometimes.

My goal on here is to pretty much speak my mind on different subjects including politics, sports, life, religion, and whatever I deem important at any given time. I will try to exclude wrestling on here, as I'm thinking of using another blog for that. I will try to keep my words clean, and I might trip up from time to time, but we're only human. So I might post again later, but for now this I believe will suffice.

In for some changes

I hate leaving all these sites dormat for so long. So I guess I'm going to start writing more. Not necessarily on AFTF stuff, but on everything. I have a blog, why not use it. So from now on expect more updates. Thats it for now, but for those of you who view my myspace, and have seen my UNP on there, I think I will move it to this site. So starting sometime soon expect a new edition of UNP, and probably even a new name.

Enjoy!

Still working on things

I still am going to use this as an archival site, trust me. For now however, there is nothing to archive, and nothing informative to post on here. So I will pretty much leave the rest of this post blank until I come up with further news.

Expansion is a key to success

Hello everyone, this is jupiterhill, and I figured that the alliance needed an archive.
