It's hard to believe, but it's already that time of year! The Original Dickens Carolers had their first meeting and rehearsal of the season this past weekend. We are thrilled to have such a talented group of performers ready to entertain at your holiday events.

We had a marvelous time caroling for the throngs who came out to Denver's Union Station this summer for Disney's A Christmas Carol Train Tour.

Disney's Christmas Carol Train Tour is stopping in Denver at Union Station June 12-14 and The Original Dickens Carolers will be performing! The new Disney film "A Christmas Carol" starring Jim Carrey opens in theatres November 6 in Disney Digital 3D™ and in IMAX 3D®, and Disney is promoting the upcoming film with a whistle-stop tour across the country. Come on down to Union Station and catch the holiday spirit a little early this year with Disney and the Original Dickens Carolers. The events are FREE!

The Original Dickens Carolers were "caught on tape" by Bill Farrell at the Cherry Creek Tree Lighting yesterday, November 29, 2008. The tree lighting at Cherry Creek Mall is an annual event that The Original Dickens Carolers have taken part in for several years. It's one rare event each year when all the carolers are together instead of in individual quartets. Much fun was had by all!

The 2008 caroling season is upon us! The Original Dickens Carolers have numerous public appearances this year. Come see us at the Cherry Creek Tree Lighting Ceremony the day after Thanksgiving, and in the Cherry Creek Mall throughout the holiday season. We'll also be at the Denver Pavilions, Aspen Grove, Tamarac Square and Larimer Square among many other wonderful places.

If you catch the carolers out and about this season, snap a picture or a video and send it to us and it may be featured here at The Daily Dinger!

Exciting news from Original Dickens Caroler, Elizabeth Welch! We are sad not to have her singing with us this season, but we are thrilled for her as she has joined the national tour of Phantom of the Opera. The tour stops here in at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts February 15 - March 22, 2009.

But wait...there's more big news this year! Last year, we introduced the Original Dickens Carolers, The Mistletones and Absolute Noel in New York City headed up by Julia Tobey-Fischer. Visit them online at PartySingers.com. This year, we have opened a Los Angeles branch featuring the Tinseltones, The Original Dickens Carolers and Absolute Noel. Former Original Dickens Carolers from Colorado, Nikki Tomlinson and Joe Donohoe are heading up the LA branch. Watch for them on the Dr. Phil show the week of December 15!

For Christmas Cookies, that is! So I tried a different recipe this year that a friend said I could find here. Living in Colorado, one generally needs to slightly vary recipes because of the altitude, but I didn't mess with this one at all and oh my Christmas goodness, were these heavenly! The dough was really easy to roll out and cut, and they turn out this perfect texture.

In a big bowl, cream 1/2 cup of shortening (I used the non-butter flavor) and 1 cup cugar. Add in 1 egg and 1 tsp vanilla and beat till fluffy. Stir in 1/2 cup sour cream.

In a seperate bowl, mix 3 1/4 cups of flour (I used regular all-purpose flour), 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp sale and 1/2 tsp nutmeg.

Gradually add in the flour mixture with mixing. You can use a mixer, we did it by hand.

Roll out on floured surface 1/4 to 1/8 inch thickness. Go to town with the cookie cutters. Decorate and bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes till just lightly browned.

A trick we use when decorating with the sprinkles and sugar is to just take a tiny bit of milk on your finger and spread very lightly over the cookie before sprinkling with sugar. It helps the sugar stick and not fall off the cookies.

So even though it's Christmas Day, it's not too late for cookies. I'm going to have to bake another batch because these are almost gone!!

We know EVERY Christmas carol ever written...well, as long as it's in Guv's book, that is. Who is "Guv", you ask? When you see us out and about, you can call us by name! "Guv" or Governor is the gentleman carrying the book of carols and filling out those wonderful low notes. Sebastian is the dashing tenor, Felicity is the lovely soprano and the poor little beggar looking like Tiny Tim is our dear Pip, the alto.

The Original Dickens Carolers originally began in historic Larimer Square and have performed for corporations, private individuals and many fine shopping centers since its inception. You may have seen them as the featured carolers for Cherry Creek Shopping Center’s popular tree lighting ceremnony. Fully memorized and recognizable by their highly animated and energetic performance style, this elite, unique group is comprised entirely of professional actors and singers. Individually they perform regularly at area theatres including the Denver Center, The Arvada Center and The Country Dinner Playhouse as well as area choirs and other professional singing groups.

It's officialy the Holiday Season of 2007!

We've had our turkey and trimmings, and the shoppers are out in full force. It also means that the Original Dickens Carolers, Absolute Noel and the Mistletones have taken to the city streets and shopping malls. Entertaining holiday crows since 1986, the Original Dickens Carolers can be seen all over town perfoming in public venues, private parties, tree lightings, shopping malls, office parties and more.

New this season is Absolute Noel, a contemporary caroling group available both in Denver and New York City.

This year we are forty carolers strong in Denver, comprised of exceptionally talented, professional performers from across the Front Range. Kicking off the season, twenty of the Original Dickens Carolers sang holiday favorites for the throng at the Cherry Creek Tree Lighting on Friday, November 23.
