<itunes:summary>Guest: Pastor Steven Lawson, author, The Gospel Focus of Charles Spurgeon

“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13).

No doubt you have heard of the following two groups of Christians:

On one side are the zealous evangelists who think that those who believe God is completely sovereign in salvation (“those Calvinists”), aren’t doing enough to get people saved.

On the other side are the “predestination” and “election” folks who think the evangelists are using too much human energy and schemes to do what God will do on His own.

And then there was Charles Spurgeon. In his new book, The Gospel Focus of Charles Spurgeon, author and pastor Steven Lawson writes that Spurgeon was an ardent “Calvinist” (i.e. God is sovereign in salvation) AND that Spurgeon was a tireless evangelist. In other words, Spurgeon was both ... following the example of the apostle Paul.

So can a Christian really believe in the “doctrines of grace” and also be on fire to share the faith? Pastor Lawson will be our guest on The Christian Worldview this Saturday to answer that question. You will come away with a higher view of God and a greater desire to share your faith!

>> To listen to more of Dr. Steven Lawson on Charles Spurgeon click here for his message at this year's Shepherd's Conference.

Note: Our new Book Club selection for June - August is The Gospel Focus of Charles Spurgeon by Steven Lawson. As a thank you for your donation of ANY amount to The Christian Worldview, we will send you this insightful and beautiful 145 page hardcover book with dust jacket. Click here for more information on the book and how to order your copy.

Also, we are again this year giving away five pairs of registration tickets to the Expositors’ Conference 2012 featuring John MacArthur and Steve Lawson on September 24-25 at Christ Fellowship Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama. Click here for information on the conference and how to enter your name in the raffle.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:subtitle>“He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous, both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord” (Proverbs 17:15). - This past Wednesday was a monumental day in the history of the United States. For the first time,</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>“He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous, both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord” (Proverbs 17:15).

This past Wednesday was a monumental day in the history of the United States. For the first time, a sitting President publicly declared his support for two people of the same sex “marrying” each other. In other words, President Obama, who professes to be a Christian, openly rejected God and His Word by calling good what the Bible calls an “abomination” (Leviticus 18:22).

Ironically, this news broke during the Minnesota Pastors for Marriage Conference (which I was attending) and one day after North Carolina became the 31st of 31 states to vote in favor of an amendment to the state constitution that will define marriage as a union between one man and one woman.

What does President’s Obama coming out in favor of same-sex marriage mean for our country and the agenda of the homosexual movement? What does it mean for Christians who will, with God’s help, not capitulate on God’s clear moral standards in Scripture? Tune into The Christian Worldview this Saturday as we discuss this explosive issue.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>“... in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, sound in speech which is beyond reproach, so that the opponent will be put to shame, having nothing bad to say about us” (Titus 2:6-8).

Have you noticed how what’s acceptable in “Christian culture” has changed in our lifetimes?

For example, it’s somewhat common nowadays to hear a professing Christians exclaim “This suc--!” or “That’s cra-”. Or, have you ever wondered how it became mainstream after centuries of congregational singing out of a hymn book for church services to now feature the world’s style of music complete with a rockin’ band, vocalists, and light effects?

Or what about the sexual topics many Christians now deem acceptable to discuss in public or in church? Next week, the historically conservative Liberty University has invited Mark Driscoll, pastor of Mars Hill Church in Seattle, to speak at their chapel and hold a conference on his recent book, Real Marriage, in which chapters graphically describe various sex acts to decide whether they are “biblical” within marriage.

Whether it’s language, music, dress, sex, tattoos, or piercings, it’s undeniable that Christian culture has changed big-time in the last few decades. You could say it’s “coarsened”. This Saturday on the The Christian Worldview, we’ll discuss the coarsening of Christian culture and what should be our response.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>“And he [the criminal crucified next to Jesus] was saying, 'Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!' And He [Jesus] said to him, 'Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise'" (Luke 23:42-43).

Jesus Christ was not crucified alone. On either side of Him were two criminals (i.e. violent robbers) who were being crucified as well.

Scripture says that the Roman soldiers, the religious Jewish leaders, and passers-by were mocking and hurling insults at Jesus as He was hanging on the cross ... and the two criminals being crucified with Jesus were doing so as well.

And yet a short time later, Luke records in his gospel account that, suddenly and shockingly, one of the criminals made a complete about-face, rebuking the other one for mocking Jesus and asking Jesus to “remember me when You come in your kingdom.” Jesus responded by assuring the condemned criminal that he would die “today” and then would spend eternity in “Paradise” (i.e. heaven).

So what are we to make of this criminal’s “deathbed” conversion? What does it teach us about God’s terms of salvation? And what was it that changed the robber’s heart from mocking to believing?

This Easter Weekend on The Christian Worldview, we will discuss the conversion of the criminal on the cross and what it means for you and me today.</itunes:summary>

"Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6).

On a typical Sunday morning for church-going families across America, Dad and Mom and their two teenage kids arrive at church at which point they all go their separate ways.

Dad and Mom head over to their “POT” (Parents-of-Teens) class to have coffee, hear some teaching on raising kids, and socialize with others in their same period-of-life demographic.

16-year-old son, Johnny, immediately disappears downstairs to “The Bunker”, a tricked-out teen cave complete with billiards table, video game consoles, and elevated bandstand with microphones, amps, lighting, and all the trimmings where he will “hang out” with other high schoolers and the YP (Youth Pastor).

13-year-old daughter daughter, Susie, waves good-bye and heads upstairs to “The Attic” where all the other 6th, 7th, and 8th graders assemble every Sunday morning with games and skits and short lessons about being a “tweener”.

It’s anyone’s guess whether the family will reconvene to attend the main worship service together, but if not, they will “meet by Door 2 at noon” to head home.

It is said that “Sunday morning is the most racially segregated time in America” but has it also become the most age segregated as well? Austin Duncan, pastor of college ministry at Grace Community Church in Los Angeles, will join us to talk about the pros and cons of age segregation at church and the growing movement called the “Family Integrated Church (FIC)”.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>"Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction." (2 Timothy 4:2).

Sure, there are plenty of discouraging indicators that the world and church are heading in the wrong direction but here’s one sign in the midst of it all that should encourage you: the Shepherds’ Conference, which is held annually at John MacArthur’s Grace Community Church in Los Angeles had its highest attendance ever last week!

That’s right, over 3300 men -- pastors, elders, and laymen -- from all over the world literally overflowed the church sanctuary to hear expository preaching by John MacArthur, Al Mohler, Steven Lawson, Phil Johnson, Voddie Baucham, and Tom Pennington. In the midst of a darkening world, this is a very positive sign that God is still at work and motivating men to faithfully preach His Word.

I was one of those men fortunate to attend the Shepherds’ Conference last week and this Saturday on The Christian Worldview, I will share some highlights of the preaching, including the trustworthiness of the Word, the importance of the Holy Spirit, leadership in our homes, and much more. Be sure to tune in!

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek" (Romans 1:16).

This program was previously aired on 12/18/2010
“Gospel” is a word that is bandied about almost everywhere nowadays. So much so that “the gospel” has taken on different meanings for different people while the real meaning found in Scripture has become unclear, even amongst Christians.

So what is the gospel? Is it limited in scope to the “good news” that God has offered to reconcile condemned sinners to Himself? Or does it have a much broader definition relating to good works that bring about social change and justice? And what does it have to do with the Christian life once one is saved?

This Christmas season as you gather with family and friends, you may have the opportunity to talk with someone about the gospel. How will you explain it? Is there a simple way you can communicate the gospel so anyone can understand it? What are the fundamental elements that need to be included so that you can give a faithful gospel message?

Greg Gilbert, author of the concise book, What Is the Gospel? (9Marks), joins us this weekend on The Christian Worldview to help us be crystal clear about what the gospel is, what it isn’t, and how we can better understand it ourselves so we can better communicate it to others.</itunes:summary>

“Backsliders.” It is a word not found in Scripture but it is commonly used to describe someone who professes to be a Christian but currently is “not living the Christian life.”

We all know examples of Christians who continue to practice sin for extended periods of time (think of King David or Lot). Maybe we have been one of them ourselves. Just last week we discussed the tragic life of Whitney Houston, who started her life in a church singing gospel songs and was a professing Christian, but then recently died after years of living in highly publicized sin.

So is prolonged “backsliding” an indication that a person wasn’t genuinely saved in the first place? If so, how much time and what indicators would lead to that conclusion? Or is a “backslider” a true believer who is being defeated by the flesh -- as every believer sometimes is -- and thus, their salvation is not in doubt? And finally, what can we do to avoid “backsliding” in our own lives and to help others out of it?

<itunes:summary>“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).

After growing up singing gospel songs in a Baptist church in New Jersey, Whitney Houston became the most decorated female singer of all time, selling over 170 million albums, singles, and video worldwide. She was known as “The Voice” because her singing ability was considered by many to be unparalleled.

Two weeks ago on the eve of the Grammy Music Awards, 48-year-old Whitney Houston tragically died while taking a bath at a Beverly Hills hotel presumably from a fatal reaction to prescription drugs and alcohol.

So what are we to make of the life and death of Whitney Houston? Was she just another superstar to succumb to the pressures of fame and fortune? And what about her Christian background -- what should we learn from that?

This Saturday on The Christian Worldview, 30 high school seniors and a former drug dealer who gave His life to Christ (who also knew Whitney Houston’s husband Bobby Brown) will be LIVE in studio as we discuss "lessons to be learned from the life of Whitney Houston".</itunes:summary>

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires” (2 Timothy 4:3).

This past Sunday was “Darwin Day”. Whereas Christians celebrate the birth of their Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on December 25th, secularists and humanists celebrate their own hero-god Charles Darwin on his birth date, February 12th.

There is no doubt that the Bible-rejecting evolutionary theories of Charles Darwin have had immeasurable impact on the world, but they have also influenced the church and Christians as well. Many professing Christians think that it’s incompatible with “what we now know in modern science” to believe in a more literal interpretation of the Book of Genesis that, for instance, the earth is thousands of years old rather than billions.

Our guest this weekend on The Christian Worldview is Paul Taylor, the director of ministry development for Creation Today. He has written a book entitled “No Time for Itching Ears” which makes the point that the Book of Genesis is not only important for understanding origins, but is the basis for the most important biblical doctrines, such as the Trinity, the deity of Christ, sin and salvation, and the inerrancy of Scripture, which if compromised, leads to all manner of false teaching, confusion, and division.

For a recent example of unsound doctrine on the Trinity which caused confusion and division, read:

<itunes:summary>“Then Pharaoh said to his servants, ‘Can we find a man like this [Joseph], in whom is a divine spirit?’” Genesis 41:38

With lots of money, organization, and decisive wins in Florida and Nevada, it looked like Mitt Romney was finally going to pull away from his Republican challengers -- Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Ron Paul -- and was destined to be the Republican nominee that would face President Barack Obama in this year’s presidential election.

And then this past Tuesday happened. To almost everyone’s surprise, Rick Santorum, a former U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, crushed his rivals and completed an unexpected and convincing sweep in Minnesota, Missouri, and Colorado turning the Republican primary process on its head ... again.

In The Christian Worldview’s continuing series on analyzing some of the more debatable views of the candidates (at least for Christians), such as Mitt Romney’s Mormonism and Ron Paul’s libertarianism and foreign policy, we will look this Saturday at the character and leadership of Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich to see how each compares to what the Bible calls a leader to be.</itunes:summary>

“Now the LORD said to Abram ... I will bless you, and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing; and I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed” (Genesis 12:3).

The above passage from Genesis has been a topic of debate for time immemorial? (It came up last week in our discussion about Ron Paul’s views on Israel.) So what exactly does it mean God will “bless those who bless Abram”?

Was that blessing for those who lived just during the time of Abram or did it extend to his descendants as well? And if to his descendants, does that mean both Jews, from his son Isaac, and also Arabs from his son Ishmael?

And how are we to “bless Abram”? Does “we” refer to individuals or nations or both? What does “blessing Abram” mean for the United States and our relationship with the secular state of Israel? And what about the common Christian belief that the Jews and the nation of Israel have been replaced in the “favored” or “chosen” category by the church?

As you can see, there are lots of questions to ponder when it comes to understanding what God’s call for Christians is when it comes to the Jews and Israel. Fortunately, our guest on Saturday, Dr. Will Varner, has insight and experience with this issue. Dr. Varner is professor of Bible and Greek at The Master’s College and is the director of their Israel Bible Extension program.

We will also hear from Dr. Wess Stafford, the president of Compassion International, one of the world’s most respected, gospel-centered child development organizations. If you haven’t had the chance yet to find a child to sponsor as part of The Christian Worldview FaithWorks Initiative with Compassion International, click here or call toll free 1-855-549-7535.</itunes:summary>

There are now just four Republican presidential candidates remaining who are vying for their party’s nomination to run against President Obama in this fall’s general election. Only one of them professes to be a born-again Christian of the Protestant kind -- Ron Paul. (Mitt Romney is a Mormon and Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich are Roman Catholics.)

If you’ve watched any of the Republican debates, Ron Paul doesn’t fit the modern Republican mold. Not only does he look much older than the other candidates (Paul is 76), but his views, especially as they relate to foreign policy and personal liberties, are outside the Republican mainstream as well.

But should they be considered outside the biblical Christian mainstream? While most “experts” say Ron Paul is “unelectable” and “out of step”, his blend of conservative and libertarian positions on the issues attracts many followers. Even prominent pastor Voddie Baucham recently explained in a column why he is voting for Ron Paul.

In The Christian Worldview’s continuing series of analyzing various aspects of the presidential candidates (for example, we discussed Romney’s Mormonism in Nov. 2011), we’ll take a closer look this Saturday at some of the more controversial views of Ron Paul to see whether they are consistent with a biblical worldview for government.</itunes:summary>

“This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil” (John 3:19).

One would only need to compare an evening of network television today with the 1950’s to conclude that American culture has become more openly crude, immoral, and depraved. There’s no doubt that sin was in existence back in the “good ol’ days”, but generally speaking, sin wasn’t applauded and goodness wasn’t scorned.

Yet that is exactly where America is today. For example, an upstanding Christian man like Tim Tebow would have been almost universally praised as a role model 60 years ago, but now a vocal segment of the country tears him down. Or how about the ABC sit-com, Modern Family, airing an episode this week where a two-year-old is portrayed as saying the f-word? Do you think that would have gotten laughs a couple generations ago?

This Saturday on The Christian Worldview, Vasko Kohlmayer, Christian columnist for the Washington Times, will join us LIVE from Russia to discuss what becomes of a nation when it loves darkness rather than light and what Christians are called to be and do in that kind of culture. Vasco was born and raised under communism and is now an American citizen living and working in Moscow.

<itunes:subtitle>"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16 - It is impossible to deny that a 24-year-old football quarterback has sparked a national conversation.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16

It is impossible to deny that a 24-year-old football quarterback has sparked a national conversation. Maybe “furor” or “mania” would be better words to describe it. Not since Billy Graham has one Christian struck such a nerve in this country with his life, words, and works.

Discussion about Tim Tebow crops up everywhere. He is polled as the most popular athlete in America. Republican presidential candidates want his endorsement. Nearly 50 million people watched him lead the Denver Broncos to a startling victory last Sunday over the Pittsburgh Steelers and most likely even more will tune in Saturday evening as the Broncos face the vaunted New England Patriots and their star quarterback, Tom Brady. It really is “Tebow Time” in America.

One of the common questions people are asking is, “What is driving Tebow mania?” Of course it has something to do with his “miraculous” football victories, but the way Tebow “wears his faith on his sleeve” also elicits huge reaction, both positive and negative. He prays openly during games and thanks “my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” in post-game interviews, win or lose. His charitable foundation pays for sick children to attend his games and also builds hospitals and health care facilities in the Philippines and America. Tim Tebow is unabashedly public with his faith in Christ.

The question we will discuss this Saturday on The Christian Worldview is “how much should Christians wear their faith on their sleeves?” For example, Jesus says in Matthew 5 that Christians should be “salt and light” in this world and then in Matthew 6 says Christians should “pray in secret”. So how public should we be with our faith? Tune in this weekend to find out!

“Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these” -- Jesus (Luke 18:16).

It can be difficult for us in America to fully understand what physical and spiritual poverty is like in other nations around the world. Many if not most countries in Africa, Southeast Asia, and Central and South America have corrupt governments and pagan influences which often results in extreme poverty, food scarcity, and lack of health care, clean hygiene, education, and most especially, the saving gospel of Jesus Christ.

So what does the Bible call Christians to do, even when these problems seem so overwhelming and so far away? Answer: Have compassion and do something.

This Saturday on The Christian Worldview, you will hear about the life-transforming ministry Compassion International is carrying out for impoverished children around the world. And you will be given the opportunity to get involved yourself by sponsoring an impoverished child or orphan to receive the physical and spiritual help they need.

When you do, you will be changing an impoverished child’s life for the better. And you know who else will change? You.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>This Saturday, you will get a behind the scenes tour of The Christian Worldview Radio Program. First, the question I always ask first-time guests will be turned around on me: “What is your background and how did you become a follower of Jesus Christ?” In other words, you’re going to find out a little more about the host!

From there, you will hear how topics are chosen each week and how the program goes from a studio in Minnesota into your car, living room, or iPod. We are also going to leave some time for you to call or email us with questions about past programs from this year and suggestions for topics in the coming year. Take advantage of that!

This will be our last LIVE broadcast of the year. On the final two Saturdays of 2011 -- December 23rd and 30th -- we will be airing two of the most popular programs from this year.

So be sure to tune in this Saturday for a rare behind the scenes tour of The Christian Worldview. And may each one of you have a joyous Christmas focused on Jesus Christ!</itunes:summary>

Last Saturday, we talked with author Randy Alcorn about the horrible reality of hell for those who reject Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice. This Saturday, Randy will join us for part 2 of our discussion to talk about a place where everyone should desire to spend eternity: heaven. What is heaven really like? Where is it located? How does one go there? And how should the reality of heaven change the way we live on earth?

Randy Alcorn, founder of Eternal Perspective Ministries and the author of “Heaven”, one of the most significant and comprehensive books on the subject, will answer all these questions and more this Saturday on The Christian Worldview Radio Program.

Our thank you to you for your support! We have selected “Heaven” for our Book Club from December through March and would like to send you this beautiful hardcover book that covers every possible angle of the Christian’s greatest hope as a thank you for your tax-deductible donation of $25 or more to The Christian Worldview. Or, for a donation of any amount, we will send “Heaven Touchpoints” by Randy Alcorn, a shorter and smaller paperback book full of questions and answers on heaven.

Click here to receive “Heaven” or “Heaven Touchpoints” or call us toll-free at 1-888-646-2233. You can also mail your donation to The Christian Worldview PO Box 401 Tonka Bay, MN 55331.</itunes:summary>

“What happens to me after I die?” “Is there really a heaven and hell, and if so, what are they like?” These questions have been among the most asked, pondered, and discussed for as long as man has walked the earth. We know what life is like here, but what about the hereafter?

This year as a result of Rob Bell’s best-selling book, “Love Wins”, the traditional, biblical notion of hell as conscious, eternal torment in the lake of fire has come under direct attack. As for heaven, many Christians picture a place where saints with wings float on clouds and play harps for eternity. But what does the Bible really say about heaven and hell? A lot, it turns out, and it may change the way you think about each.

Popular author Randy Alcorn joins us for the next two Saturdays (Dec. 3 and 10) on The Christian Worldview to talk about heaven and hell. He is the director of Eternal Perspective Ministries and the author of “Heaven”, one of the most significant and comprehensive books on the subject.

<itunes:summary>“A wife is bound as long as her husband lives; but if her husband is dead, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 7:39

You’ve probably heard the old adage that the second most important decision you make in life is who you marry (the first being the decision to repent and place your faith in Christ for salvation).

Since who you marry is this important and since marriage is described as “till death do us part” and “two becoming one” and a picture of Christ being wedded to His church and God’s covenant relationship for humans to bear and raise children, then why do so many professing Christians date and marry unbelievers? And why aren’t the Christians in their lives -- parents, pastors, friends -- falling on the tracks to warn them to not go forward and be unequally yoked in dating and marriage?

It seems today that the clear biblical prohibition of an unequal yoke in dating and marriage is being neglected. This Saturday morning on The Christian Worldview, we’ll discuss why marrying “in the Lord” is not just a nice suggestion but a serious command and what parents and friends who see a person involved in an unequally yoked relationship can and should do about it.</itunes:summary>

You've probably heard the saying, "Little kids, little problems; big kids, BIG problems." There are stacks of books written on parenting little ones (i.e. those under 18) but relatively little is said about being a parent to your big kids, those in their 20's and 30's. What should you do about the young adult who is living at home and exhibiting very little motivation and direction in life? Or how should you handle your adult son or daughter who is headed towards marrying someone you don't approve of? And what changes about being a parent when your kids transition from minors to adults?

With the big kids coming home for Thanksgiving and Christmas, it's a good time to talk about how parents can best interact with them. Jim Newheiser, author of "You Never Stop Being a Parent" and teaching elder at Grace Bible Church in CA joins us on The Christian Worldview this weekend to discuss how to thrive in relationship with your adult children.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Guest: Gordon Thiessen, Dir. of Training and Resources, Fellowship of Christian Athletes

“A good name is to be more desired than great wealth; favor is better than silver and gold” (Proverbs 22:1).

Every so often a sports story makes front page news and that was the case this week when a grand jury investigation found that Penn State’s football program and its legendary coach, 84-year-old Joe Paterno, had tolerated a serial child rapist in their midst named Jerry Sandusky, a long-time assistant coach. When the decision was made on Wednesday to fire Paterno, students on campus rioted.

This explosive story at Penn State is the only thing that has been able to overshadow the incredible amount of fan and media attention devoted to Denver Broncos quarterback and committed Christian Tim Tebow. Although Tebow has only started three games for a team with a losing record, the most hotly debated topic of the NFL season continues to be: “Can Tim Tebow play quarterback in the NFL?” What do the polarized and irrational responses say about our culture?

Gordon Thiessen, director of training and resources for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, will join us this weekend to discuss these stories and what they represent culturally and spiritually.

<itunes:summary>“When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when a wicked man rules, people groan” (Proverbs 29:2).

Many biblical Christians do not like the policies that our professing Christian president, Democrat Barack Obama, has implemented such as government-run health care and the expansion of abortion rights and the homosexual agenda, to name a few.

One year from now, biblical Christians will have the privilege of going to the polls to cast their vote for president. With his place near the top of the polls, large financial holdings, and lack of scandal, it is quite likely that the Republican nominee will be Mitt Romney. By most accounts, Romney is a family man and an intelligent and capable business and civic leader.

Mitt Romney is also a committed Mormon. And that is where the rub comes for many biblical Christians. The thought of voting for someone immersed in a false religion, that some call a cult, has divided biblical Christians. Some say they could never vote for a Mormon and will either vote for a 3rd party candidate or not at all. Others say they’d rather have a more conservative person be president, even if he is a Mormon, than a liberal professing Christian.

So what’s a biblical Christian to do when it comes to the possibility of voting for a Mormon? Tune in this weekend to The Christian Worldview as we discuss this topic and take your phone calls.

Program follow-up: Just to restate, in case you didn't hear the whole program, neither David Wheaton nor The Christian Worldview are endorsing Mitt Romney for president nor saying he is the best Republican candidate nor even assuming he will be the Republican presidential nominee in 2012.

The point of today's program is this: while it would be ideal to always have the option to vote for a viable born-again Christian candidate, based on our understanding of Scripture, a true Christian would not be sinning against God in voting for an unsaved candidate (Mormon or otherwise) but that a Christian also shouldn't vote for any candidate if it causes him/her to violate their conscience (Romans 14).</itunes:summary>

“Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints” (Jude 1:3).

Joel Osteen, pastor of America’s largest church, made the following statement this week in an interview with the Washington Times:
“I believe that [Mormons] are Christians. I don’t know if it’s the purest form of Christianity, like I grew up with. But you know what, I know Mormons. I hear Mitt Romney -- and I’ve never met him -- but I hear him say, ‘I believe Jesus is the son of God,’ ‘I believe he’s my savior,’ and that’s one of the core issues.”
When a prominent, professing Christian leader like Osteen emphasizes some semantic commonalities between biblical Christianity and Mormonism but draws no distinction between the substantive differences, especially as it pertains to what the Bible says about how sinful man can be reconciled to a holy God, what does this bode for the future of the church and country?

Jason Carlson, pastor and director of Christian Ministries International, will join us this weekend on the The Christian Worldview to draw clear, eternity-changing distinctions between biblical Christianity and Mormonism and to discuss a potential dilemma for biblical Christians if Mitt Romney, a Mormon, becomes the Republican nominee for President in 2012.

“For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalms 139:13-14).

Two generations and 53 million abortions later, it would be natural to assume that Roe v. Wade, the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court decision that made killing one’s unborn child legal, is now “water over the dam”. In other words, the United States doesn’t appear to be going back to pre-abortion days anytime soon. Not enough minds could be changed, right?

Wrong, according to respected evangelist and author Ray Comfort. He says “the cause [against abortion] has to be a hill to die on” and that people’s minds on the issue can be changed in seconds?

In seconds? How so? Comfort has just released a powerful 33-minute documentary movie (already with over 1 million views on YouTube) entitled “180” where people who were for abortion change their minds completely after being asked one question. What is that question and how can Christians help in ending our own "American holocaust"? Tune in to The Christian Worldview this weekend to find out!</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>“For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?” (Matthew 16:25-26)

Steve Jobs, the co-founder and CEO of Apple, the world’s most valuable company, recently died at age 56 of complications from pancreatic cancer.

Revered as being the Thomas Edison and Henry Ford of our day due to his inventing popular electronic devices that revolutionized the world, like the iPod, iPhone, and iPad, Jobs' net worth was estimated to be over $8 billion. With this much success and acclaim, you could say that Steve Jobs had (nearly) gained the whole world.

But what about Steve Jobs’ soul? Where did he believe his soul would go after he died and on what did he base those beliefs? And what can we learn from his life and worldview?

Join us this weekend on The Christian Worldview as we discuss living to the utmost in this world yet not forfeiting your soul in the process.</itunes:summary>
