Amber Alert issued after mother gets arrested.

GARFIELD HEIGHTS -- The Garfield Heights Police Department has issued an amber alert for a missing seven-month-old girl.

Zar-Reyah Smith was taken from a Rockside Road address.

Police are looking for a black, four-door 2006 Hyundai with Ohio license plate DVU4065.

If you spot the car, call the Garfield Heights Police Department at (216) 475-1234.

Police say the victim's mother met the suspect on Tuesday.

Police say they were all going to shoplift at K-Mart with their children, when the mother of the victim was arrested.

Police say when the "acquaintance" saw the mother get arrested, the "acquaintance" took off in the car with the woman's seven-month-old child.

Palm Bay, FL - The Palm Bay police chief said this evening it is likely that a "person-of-interest" in an investigation into intentionally set fires that devastated the city may be arrested for arson.

But Police Chief Bill Berger did not say what Brian Crowder, 31, said to investigators that led him to make this conclusion. "We're not talking about somebody [for whom] this is the first crime," Berger said.

Berger's statement came during a press conference, in which authorities gave updates on fires that have raged across south Brevard County since Sunday.

Crowder was released from a hospital at about 4 p.m. after being treated for a bite from a police dog and taken to police headquarters. He is cooperating with police, Berger said, and "talking about what he did this morning."

Roger Burgess, 43, has been charged with seven counts of criminal sexual conduct. Police say he sexually assaulted his two underage daughters, but it didn't stop there.
"We found out that the father was abusing his own daughters as well his daughters' friends, and at the hand of him, were directed to also do sexual things involving their friends," said East Tawas Michigan State Police Det. Jennifer Pintar.
But again, according to police, the abuse didn't stop there. Police say the daughters and a couple of their friends -- including the victim who came forward -- were told to do more.
"They were instructed by their father to have sex with other boys and to get money for that," Pintar said.
Burgess was arrested at his Turner Township home on Tuesday. Court records show he lived at the home, and that's where police believe the alleged crimes took place.
Burgess' brother says his brother is innocent and did nothing wrong. Police believe otherwise.
"Obviously, the father was involved, but we also think there may have been other individuals that kind of recruited others to come and be involved in this," Pintar said.
Also charged with criminal sexual conduct is one of Roger Burgess' daughters, 22-year-old April Stokr of Battle Creek. But investigators say she is a victim in this case as well.
Both Burgess and his daughter are being held without bond and could be back in court as early as Monday for a preliminary exam.

A Santa Rosa man accused of fatally stabbing his girlfriend last weekend delayed entering a plea to six felony counts Wednesday morning in Sonoma County Superior Court.

Honorio Pantaleon, 30, was to be arraigned earlier Wednesday morning but his appearance was continued until Wednesday afternoon.

It was then moved back for procedural reasons to 11 a.m., Chief Deputy District Attorney Spencer Brady said. Pantaleon is charged with killing 25-year-old Patricia Barrales, the mother of their two children.

Her body was found Sunday night in a toy box in a closet in the couple's apartment on Montecito Avenue in Santa Rosa. She had been stabbed multiple times in the upper body and head, Santa Rosa police said.

Pantaleon is charged with murder, aggravated mayhem, domestic violence battery on a spouse, two counts of child endangerment and mayhem. There are also enhancements alleging the use of a knife and inflicting great bodily injury.

Pantaleon also allegedly tried to shoot Barrales' mother Isabel with a rifle at her Ukiah home Monday morning but instead struck her with the rifle when it didn't fire. He was arrested by the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office in Ukiah late Monday night.

Police went to Barrales' Rincon Valley apartment at 6:47 p.m. Sunday after her brother asked them to check on her welfare because she had been a victim of previous domestic violence. Two officers checked the apartment and found no one inside and no signs of foul play, Sgt. Lisa Banayat said.

At 9:27 p.m. Sunday, the apartment manager called police after he received a call from Barrales' family members asking him to check the closets in the apartment, Banayat said. The family members said Barrales' 4-year-old son stated his mother was locked in the closed, Banayat said.

The apartment manager called police who then discovered Barrales' body. Police said it's still not known when exactly when Barrales was killed.

Pantaleon showed up at his mother's Lake County residence with his two sons just before midnight on Saturday, relatives said. He is being held under no bail in the Sonoma County jail and is scheduled to enter a plea Friday morning.

The driver of the sport utility vehicle going the wrong way on the Maine Turnpike April 28 before a fatal collision now faces multiple manslaughter charges and an operating under the influence charge.

York County District Attorney Mark Lawrence said Donna J. Bartlett, 38, of Wells was charged with two counts of Class A manslaughter and one Class B count of aggravated criminal operating under the influence.

Sgt. Joe Brooks of the York County Sheriff's Department said Bartlett was arrested by a state trooper at 1:24 p.m. today in Alfred.

Bartlett is accused having a blood alcohol level of .08 or more before the crash that killed James McLaughlin, 65, of Gorham and Cooper Campbell, 15, in York.

Police allege that Bartlett was driving an SUV that was traveling the wrong way in a turnpike lane when it struck a Lincoln Town Car driven by McLaughlin. Campbell and his father, Steven Campbell, were passengers in the town car limousine. McLaughlin was driving the father and son home to Maine from Logan Airport in Boston.

Lawrence said the case would be presented to the York County grand jury, which could add more charges.

Turns out, it was an undercover internet investigation that led to the arrest of 41-year-old Maj. Andrew Franz from Kent Monday.

According to probable cause documents, an officer posing as a 30-year-old woman with a 13-year-old daughter traded messages with Franz on a fetish Web site. The officer alleges Franz offered to travel to Colorado or to bring the woman and daughter to Western Washington. The documents also indicate that Franz admitted he was a professor, but that the "girls who went to the university were too old."

After trading numerous messages that went into graphic detail, police say Franz agreed to fly to Denver. When he arrived on Friday, Franz was arrested after arriving at the place that police say he thought he was going to meet the woman.

Franz is being charged with numerous counts including attempted sexual assault, attempted solicitation for child prostitution and attempted child trafficking.

Franz is being held on a $50,000 cash only bond.

He is an associate professor of Military Science at Seattle University, although he technically is not an employee of the school. In a letter to students and staff at the school, Provost John Eshelman says he instructed the Army to end Franz's assignment at the school.

Renteria granted resentencing, got death again, still no remorse

he raped her, strangled her, set her on fire and left her in a carport. during his first trial he showed no signs of remorse. he was sentenced to death.
because of a loophole in texas, his lawyer got an appeal because renteria was "prevented" by the d.a. jamie esparza to give his plea of remorse.

courts refused to through out the guilty verdict but allowed resentencing. he made this family go through another trial. pictures showing of her naked burned, bloody boody all over again. the mother took the stand and was given the red little sweater her daughter was wearing the day she was taken. the mother held it, first time since her daughter was taken since it's evidence, sniffed it as if she could smell her daughter still and wept.

renteria never gave a statement of being remorseful, and actually he never showed any sign of any emotion. he tried blaming his catholic school upbringing even if he was never abused by the clergy. he tried to blame being labeled as a sex offender as making him go down the spiral to killer. he molested his girlfriend's daughter, he took her to the bathroom and made her touch him as he touched her.

what makes me mad is he violated his probation several times and his p.o knew and never proceeded to revoke him. my sister is a p.o. and she would have revoked him. this p.o. i believe let everyone down by overlooking his bad behavior.

Troyshawn Robinson didn't learn the last time he was in prison

EL CERRITO -- A parolee from Oakland was arrested for a sexual assault on an El Cerrito pathway underneath the BART tracks, police said today.

Troyshawn Robinson, 20, is accused of confronting a man and a woman walking along the path near Gladys Avenue about 8:15 p.m. Monday, said El Cerrito police Cpl. Susan Garman. The assailant sexually assaulted the woman and used a knife to hold the man at bay, police said.

The attacker also robbed both victims of their wallets before fleeing on foot, Garman said. Police arrested Robinson a short distance away.

Robinson was paroled March 11 after serving time in prison for sexual assault and robbery, authorities said. He was booked on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, sexual penetration with a foreign object with force and assault to commit rape, and was being held without bail.

Ricky Hermosillo, 42, of Orange, faces one count of committing a lewd act on a child under the age of 14 and three felony count of lewd acts upon a child between the age of 14 and 15, said Farrah Emami of the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Hermosillo, assigned to the Emergency Operations Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, was arrested at his home on Friday and posted $100,000 bail.

He is scheduled for arraignment June 3, and faces up to nine years in prison if convicted of all the counts, Emami said.

Beginning in October 2000, when the girl was 8 or 9, and over the next two years, Hermosillo is accused of touching her breasts.

Prosecutors allege he continued to "groom" the girl, referred to as Jane Doe, developing a close relationship and having multiple inappropriate sexual conversations with her.

On April 26 of this year, Hermosillo is accused of touching the now-15- year-old girl's pubic region and breasts and making inappropriate sexual comments, Emami said.

The girl told her father 10 days later, and he immediately contacted police, Emami said.

Teacher Charles Johnson Sr. tells his victims "I'm only playin'"

FORT PIERCE - A St. Lucie County schools teacher and coach -- and the father of former Marlins catcher Charles Johnson Jr. -- was arrested Tuesday, accused of molesting two female students between the ages of 12 and 16, according to arrest reports.

Fort Pierce Westwood High School math teacher and baseball coach Charles Edward Johnson Sr., 55, has been charged with lewd and lascivious molestation, according to the reports.

Johnson has been the head baseball coach at Westwood for 24 years, first from 1979 to 1994 then from 2002 to this past season. Westwood has been to the state finals once during Johnson's tenure, back in 1988 when the team finished 21-9 and were beaten by Tampa-Plant in the Class 3A championship game, 12-2.

A key member of that 1988 Westwood team was Johnson's oldest son, Charles Jr., who went on to a successful baseball career, first at the University of Miami, then in the major leagues with the Marlins, Dodgers, Orioles, White Sox, Rockies and Devil Rays. His son, an All-Star and Golden Glove winning catcher, was a member of the Marlins 1997 World Series championship team.

On Wednesday, the St. Lucie County School District released a statement that Johnson has been on reassignment away from contact with students since Friday pending a law enforcement investigation into the allegations of inappropriate behavior with students.

Johnson has cooperated with detectives but is denying the allegations against him, according to the reports.

The allegations came to light Thursday when a 15-year-old student told a school resource deputy that Johnson touched her privates, according to reports.

The girl said the incident occurred on May 5, when she skipped her regular first-period class to be in Johnson's classroom, according to the reports.

"Don't tell your momma," Johnson said after he touched her, according to the reports. "I'm only playin'."

Two days later, the girl claims, Johnson grabbed her breasts from behind and lifted her off the ground to demonstrate how strong he is. Another 15-year-old female student witnessed that incident, according to the reports.

Details about the other alleged victim's claims were not available Wednesday morning because the investigation is on-going, said Sgt. Andrew McIntosh of the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives arrested Johnson on a warrant at his Shadow Lane home. His jail bond has been set at $150,000, according to the reports.

A man who answered the phone at another address listed under Johnson's name said the family does not currently wish to comment on the case.

Rudy Villanueva aka Bird Road Rudy told Miami pd to come get him

Bird Road Rudy, the gang leader who posted a YouTube video of himself and his buddies waving guns in the air as they taunted police, was sentenced to six and a half years in prison on Wednesday in Miami federal court.

Rudy Villanueva, 31, had pleaded guilty to being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm in February.

A multiagency task force arrested Villanueva -- the leader of the Bird Road Boys gang -- and Anthony Logan, 22, in January, days after The Miami Herald reported on several YouTube videos featuring the men.

In one video, Villanueva and Logan pointed assault rifles and handguns at the camera in a message directed at Miami-Dade's gang unit -- taunting police to ``come get some.''

''Metro-Dade gang unit, here I am, baby,'' Villanueva said with a smirk, an AK-47 in his hand. ``You know you hate seeing me like this.''

Logan also pleaded guilty in February to a charge of providing weapons to a known felon. In April, he was sentenced to one year in prison.

Federal agents found weapons and more than 800 rounds of ammunition at Logan's apartment, according to a criminal complaint filed in court.

Among the confiscated items: a Mossburg shotgun and AK-47 semiautomatic rifle identified as the weapons Villanueva displayed in the video.

Villanueva, a felon with more than 20 arrests since 1995, has been the gang's leader for the past two years, police said. He also goes by the nickname King Bird Road.

Villanueva told investigators the video was meant to 'instill fear in people who will 'roll up on me, ' '' according to the criminal complaint.

But the law enforcement community, which has seen four officers killed in the past year, didn't take the video lightly.

Andre Jeter has been molesting the kids in his mother's daycare.

Andre Jeter was arrested after the mother of the 5-year-old girl noticed something abnormal in the child's vaginal area. The child told the doctor that Jeter had touched her on several different occasions. The girl told the doctor that Jeter had also touched a 4-year-old in the daycare center in the same way.

The residence, owned by Andre Jeter's parents, Manning and Loretta Jeter, is licensed as a child care home, where up to six children can be cared for. Andre Jeter's address is listed as his parents' home on South Church Street, where the alleged molestation took place.Andre Jeter is charged with committed a lewd act on a child under 16.

Jeter has a prior police record including 17 arrests and 11 convictions. Most of the charges were drug-related.

Jeter's 16-year-old sister, Marisha Jeter, was killed in January. Investigators said that she was part of a love triangle that ended when she was stabbed in the neck by Pernell and Yolanda Thompson. Marisha Jeter's body was found in the Broad River. (Full Story)

Union Police Chief Sam White said that the case was turned over to the State Law Enforcement Division to avoid any conflict of interest because the department is already involved with the investigation and prosecution in connection with Marisha Jeter's death.

Manning Jeter is a former trustee on the Union County School Board.

A Reidsville man was charged Tuesday with statutory rape and sex offense charge, according to the Rockingham County Sheriffs Office.

Detective Dan Hardy reported the arrest of Rick James McNeil, 28, of Highway 65.

McNeil is charged with having a sexual act with a 13-year-old female in March and April of this year.

His bond was set at $100,000 by a magistrate. He has a May 23 court date.

23-year-old Maribel Budier-Francis was arrested and charged with Child Neglect after allegedly leaving her child alone while she went to work Wednesday.

Just after 9:30am, deputies responded to reports of the boy crossing Proctor Road alone and wandering around a convenience store on Swift Road. The boy led the deputies to a nearby unlocked apartment with nobody home.

When deputies were eventually able to locate Budier-Francis, she admitted that she left the boy sleeping alone while she went to work, and didn't call somebody to go watch the boy until two hours later.

The boy is now in protective custody.

Budier-Francis also admitted to being an illegal resident from Nicaragua, using a Permanent Resident Card and Social Security Card that she purchased in Miami. She is being held in the Sarasota County Jail without bond.

Police: Substitute Teacher Drunk in Richardson ISD Class

Dallas police described a 56-year-old substitute teacher as incapacitated when he was arrested at a Richardson ISD middle school on the suspicion that he was drunk.

According to the police report, Thomas Brownlee had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and alcohol on his breath.

Brownlee was reportedly working as a substitute teacher at Parkhill Middle School in North Dallas when a co-worker became suspicious that he may have been drinking.

Police were called and he was arrested.

Brownlee admitted he had wine at lunch, according to the report.

A spokesman for Richardson schools said students were never alone with the substitute.
