The Brutalist has a record 8 nominations, with Civil War getting 7 noms, A Complete Unknown with 6, while Dune Part Two and Wicked each getting 5. 

Can Denis Villeneuve get his 3rd Deucie Award of his career?  Can Saoirse Ronan get her third?  Or can Florence Pugh join Denis, Saoirse, and Adam Driver as the only movie makers to get 2?  

Plus, what films impressed Dr. Earl, Mikey, and d$ that they end up on their respective Top Ten lists of the year?  And you'll recognize a lot of the voices you hear on this ep, as we get all of our faves to assist!

In a concept borrowed from The Big Picture Podcast (all nods and love to Amanda Dobbins, Chris Ryan, and Sean Fennessey), Mikey and d$ are joined by Friends of the Show Garrison "Pride of Kennesaw" Ryfun and Roth from Wyoming to fill out their roster of films for 2025.

Everyone has a proverbial $1000 to work with, as various movies are put on the auction block and bid for - with the intentions of getting the movies that will make the most money domestically, as well as will get both Oscar love in early 2026.

The big ones are all hear -- Fantastic Four, Avatar, Wicked, and Superman included -- plus some surprises, like live action Stitch and Toothless, a Peruvian Paddington, more dinosaurs, and Glen Powell running.

A Rotten Tomatoes game determines the draft order, and will Roth go rogue again??

...but first, we have to put 2024 to bed, at least in terms of movies seen. Thus, our final ReFlicktions show of the year! 

First, d$ finds some movie "white whales", including his beloved Katie Heigl... Dr Earl goes all in on music docs... our former show producer's offspring makes a movie... But it's not Halloween so we decided to talk some Ghost Stories that aren't scary.  Friendly ghosts, baseball playing ghosts, Christmas ghosts, Romantic Ghosts and so much more. 

And what better way to discuss this topic than to bring in some experts... Brock Parker making his return to the podcast (since June 2021!) and bringing his lovely wife Jessica along, representing the Alabama ghostbusters!

First, though, Madame Web.  All three have seen it. All three have opinions, mostly starting with "Yikes."

Then, the just-announced casting of The MCU version of Fantastic Four -- are Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, and the other two the right call? Were there better names out there?

Finally... starting at the top with Bradley Cooper, we go through 13 actors and actresses with a larger body of work (as in, no Lily Gladstone!), discussing their films we recommend to watch, and which ones you should probably skip overall, plus a Wild Card choice from each. We talk Greta! Emma! Margot! Ruffalo! Gosling! RDJ! and more.  Plus, Mikey's hatred for "La La Land".

It's Hollywood Lore that the Best Picture nominee list went from 5 to anywhere from 7 to 10 after "The Dark Knight" was denied the honor in 2008's list (hence, 2009's list of 10 films!), but we wondered what would happen if they kept it at 5 films only... 

Meaning, in some years, the list needed to be culled by a couple of films... in others, as many as 5 had to be cut.  It's a great discussion on movies loved and not-so-loved, movies worthy and therefore argued over, and movies passed over quickly, lucky to have been mentioned at all.

In a concept borrowed from The Big Picture Podcast (all nods and love to Amanda Dobbins, Chris Ryan, and Sean Fennessey), Mikey and d$ are joined by Friends of the Show Garrison "Pride of Kennesaw" Ryfun and making his 2nd straight appearance, Roth from Wyoming to fill out their roster of films for 2024.

The big ones are all hear -- Deadpool 3, Furiosa, Inside Out 2, and Despicable Me 4 included -- plus some surprises, like a Smile sequel, a Sonic sequel, an Apes sequel, and an odd film picked out by Roth himself.

A Rotten Tomatoes game determines the draft order, and the chatter hits on everything from TayTay in the NFL and who Agent Argylle might actually be and more nonsense as per usual.

Two years ago, we talked best November movies of the 2000s (episode 505). Last year, we took it back a decade and did the best of the 90s (episode 558), and this time around, the 1980s take center stage, as Mikey, d$, and special guest, "The Rocket Man" Uncle Brian, gives their fave films released in any year of the 80s, but only within the month of November.

First up, Uncle Brian reveals one of his hobbies -- the first time in 604 eps that Blinko has ever been discussed. Then, a miserable, total failure round of Box Office Mojo -- no seriously, the performance is awful and must be acknowledged as such.

Then, the Top Five 80s November films -- a little Trek... some Bugs... Charlie Sheen and a weird car... Chuck Norris rescues POWs... M'Lynn is wearing a brown football helmet... ending the Cold War... and a somewhat real discussion on the career and films of one Deucecast legend, Jim Varney, aka, "Ernest".
