OK! I have been very lazy and ignoring the blog a lot lately, but no more. It's almost time for the fashion week, and it seems the calenders have been shifted a little lately. WLFW (Wills lifestyle India fashion week) is only 10 days away, and some very very exciting shows await this time. Among all the cool kids, the biggies are making a return to fashion week this time. After skipping a few (ready to wear) seasons Rohit bal is showing, but not on the traditional venue. He is doing an off site show at CIBO. Should be really interesting, as the off venue shows allow a very different kind of dramatics and a crazy environment (don't worry kids! will be tweeting like mad, so expect a lot of overheard twats! *winks*)

Sheena roy (see previous posts here) is usually a tough dresser, more so for her love of all things black and leather. So i was really shocked to see her wearing, dare i say, candy. Pastel-y candy colors is expected to be the biggest trend in spring, and the designers who have really made it their own (in a huge way are meadham kirchhoff). Known for their super whimsical, alternate goth style, they unlesahed an army of kinderwhores on the runway amidst tons of balloons, glitters and a sea of colorful ribbons. But what sheena wore might be a more wearable, and a slight step towards candy-chic for someone who hardly wears any color.

Ok! so Meisel takes inspiration from the iconic ads of Versace (Late 80's, early 1990's) by AVEDON and those ads have defined the careers of supermodels such as Cindy, Naomi, Linda, Karen, Kristen. And throughout the years people have been reviving and revisiting these campaigns. But this is not just a simple revive, it's a recreation of mega proportions. Casting 3 of the iconic models, models who have actually been in those ads by Avedon and a superstar of today, Daphne G. . It looks epic, without any questions asked. But the whole point is does it verge on copying? Does it verge on cavalli is trying to be versace. Well donatella the current creative director of Versace *would* thinks so. In an interview, she stated "As for Roberto Cavalli, Donatella opines: “I think that to do a collection — how do you say — as an homage to Versace, this is fine. But when you do a lot of collections as an homage to Versace — why? What’s the point?” So, is it right for a mega-brand like Cavalli to draw inspiration/copy something so recognizable like these? Or will it be considered paying an homage?!

So many questions, so little answer, i wonder if this will even cause a stir. Well only time will tell!

YOU know i shoot something and then completely forget it, oh it happens with me so much, so this isn't like a posty (not a real word) post. It is just "stuff" that i've wanted to share you little devils. So i styled Miss.lay lay lesly for fashionandyou.com magazine issue #2 and it turned out to be quiet wonderful if i may say so. Among the shots my favorite ones are the Fuchia dress (1st picture) where she is wearing a Mawi neckpiece and the neon belt one (3rd picture) where she is feeling the wind in her hair. (see more picture at lazy's blog).

Before there was Agyness deyn and Anrej pejic, there was miss Eve Salvail. The Canadian born supermodel notorious for her drastically changing hair (ranging from shaved bald, to gay-pink), bad ass attitude and her work with Jean paul gaultier. She recently walked for jean paul gaultier (fall winter 2011 couture) in this amazing white gown with GRECIAN draping and a built in corset, and i didn't think i would see this look on an Indian actress. Because you see to even humanly carry this look, you would need a uncanny body and well let's not discuss how fit our stars are here, mmokay?! But having said that, Sonam is not the skinniest of them all, she knows it very well. She has worked very hard on her body and she still has a bit to go i would say, but she wears the shite out of this gown. BRAVA, GIRL, BRAVA

I have been obsessed with horror movies lately, and especially the ones in found footage format (you know those movies where they have someone record the incident (using an a-mature camera) and then they all die, and later someone somewhere finds the footage and makes a movie). Think paranormal activity and Blair witch project. All these movies also known as psycho horrors have a way of playing with the human mind by showing nothing. Yes nothing, playing on the concept that we can never actually see ghosts but certain incidents make us believe they are there, these movies have slowly made a niche for themselves and are the new box office darlings. So you can ask me how is it all related to goddamn fashion?! Well recently I read an article in Vogue (yes VOGUE!) about how film directors and designers all over the world are borrowing from the dead and the unknown as subject matter for their projects i was very intrigued. the talented Bandana Tewari (Fashion Features Director, Vogue) described it as "macabre chic", a new title for outfits/ensembles inspired by the dead and the unknown. Rick owens, gareth pugh, ann demeulemeester, internationally, and closer to home little shilpa, prashant verma and kallol datta have all done collections at one point or another where they have been inspired by paranormal sources

At last i come to these pictures, these were shot by me and Lulu (of lazymanxcat) and i decided to make a quick movie still like collage with them. Inspired by The Grudge series, we made weird faces at the camera and rolled with it.

90's nostalgia

MODELS have an amazing sense of style, and a great body to carry clothes. They can carry clothes which otherwise would look totally ill on other normal souls. They are the original players of fashion, and why not clothes are usually made for them (well atleast they get to wear it first). And it is rightfully said that a good model can make such a huge difference to a designers show, that's why they are rightfully their "muses".

Putting an homage to this, and almost bringing back the nostalgia of the 90's where models were the Super stars of fashion (well, don't believe me watch this)

(and thanks holy lord models are back on the covers of "fashin" magazines where they rightfully belong) Brilliant layout, brilliant casting, brilliant colors, it just brilliance ladies. And BOLLYWOOD'S obsession with wannabe-supermodel-sy-actress continues and the latest person to jump on the bandwagon is Miss. Fakhri (Katrina kaif part duex is dachu?). Fakhri appeared in Imtiaz ali's ROCKSTAR next to the not so rock star-sy Ranbir kapoor and I have to agree that she looked mighty fine. Well she's got the look part down and can wear a spandex dress like her rent is due and there's a sample sale, but only time (more magazine covers, she already has appeared on the cover of VOGUE India) and some item numbers will prove it she has what it takes to make it in B-WOOD.

As for the cover, love the shot, its party (as the cover reads) and is styled pin sharp (you betta werq Mama Rajani). But what's with using a million different font types on the cover, i feel the cover layout could have been so much better.

So, i recently ( a week back) traveled to .Mcleodganj and Chamba for a research trip and trust me i have seen many a places, but these places have a charm which is uncanny and oh so magical and untouched. The super hilly terrains, the big chill (not the food place kids), the flea markets, the monasteries, the food and breath taking views make up for one hell of a unforgettable trip and yes, a hell lot of spooky ghost stories (PARANORMAL ACTIVITY isdachu?)

So, whenever i meet Karuna, what i always ask is, when are you styling the next cover? and i remember i saying to me during fashion week, that she's doing something exciting for November, and OH-EM-GEE, can't believe this is what she meant by "exciting", Karuna has actually styled the editorial featuring jyotsna, and malini has styled the cover.

You'all know that GAGA can wear shit and make it WERQ right?! She has and will continue to do it, for years to come (actually till she becomes Madonna age and only wear Nicole Kidman-esque outfits, hope GAGA never succumbs to that). But that's not the topic here, the topic here is, how amazingly alien-esque she looked as she performed in a Paco Rabanne spring summer 2012 outfit (for those living under the rock, its fall now, so she's literally wearing clothes from the future, it's called FASHION dahhling...lol). Gaga wore creations by Manish Arora, the brand's new creative director, and let's not discuss the collection here, I will wait till the next collection to talk about it. But yeah, gaga wore it and performed in it, and i almost held my breathe as i watched her, because i thought she would at any moment fall and die, but hey, she's GAGA!

Last season when i saw the rajesh pratap singh collection, i thought that every single look deserved to be on the cover of magazines, and even in editorials, especially the last dramatic coats. Well, its only the start of the season, and voila, miss YELLOW BOOTS, wear the stunning honey comb dress on the cover of GRAZIA India (styled by the ferocious Ekta rajani). Absolutely love the cover, and the fact the this is the magazine's yet another bangin' on cover, keep it movin' ladies!

Love the cover, the tone, and the fact that it doesn't make her look like a ghost (of herself), but exactly like her playful self.
(I have shot a picture of her during the bombay shows, and lord have mercy, the girl looks like she's 12)
The only thing that i don't like (bitcher-y mode) is the clutch, i think we could have done without it! But keeping that aside,
