It’s not often I find a social app that does something new for me, but as far as sharing goes, I think this occupies a nice middle ground between Tweets and full blog posts. It’s concise, but also very visual. It has elements of microblogging – I’ve collected a lot of quotes that I like – and scrapbooking too.

So after a month with our new Diary Scissors and improvements how we doin’?

Well we are doing about 15k pictures for May and the growth line is looking good.

This means that you are using Diary.com more and more for picture storage and curation. We’ve got some nifty features you will like that will help you make your pictures become beautiful (see last post) and some other improvements.

So we have to thank you for using Diary.com and we are working hard to make it even better.

Hey you!

We just released Pages on diary.com.

Pages allows you to post notes into different pages in your diary. After all a diary is full of pages right? This is really useful for organising your passions, interests and ideas in a more structured way.

For more on Pages see the YouTube video above.

Oh .. and we made some other improvements like auto load on Pages when scrolling, and a few others that you may notice :)

Soon you will be able to browse public pages, create your own for people to follow, as well as see you diary notes in a more date driven way.

Important! For all our members who use Events and Tasks please read;

By mid March we will not be supporting Events and Tasks on the website and the iPhone Diary Mobile App (the Android App Events and Tasks will be slowly removed over time). There will be an Exporter to export your Events out.

Diary.com will be solely focused on making the best private and public Diary (read: journalling) on your mobile and the web.

Why are we doing this?
After looking at the user activity (we don’t have access to/read any individual posts EVER) and seeing where the bulk of the useage is, we have decided to focus on the Journal. Its always been the place you used the most. We are always trying things out and sometimes things don’t work, so you have to admit when this happens. Many of you find events and tasks really useful but more of you use the Journal. Being a small focused team we have decided to go for the Journal and be no1. So we may upset some of you but its for the greater good of Diary.com. We hope you understand and continue to support us on our journey.

This means that the Journal will be the only focus for our brilliant development team. They will make it an amazing experience for you to express yourself in.

What can I expect in Diary.com and Diary Mobile?

We believe the new Diary.com is a place as much to collect items around your interests and passions, than just writing. You will be able to express yourself in your diary through pictures and words, collect items you love to share with like minded people.

Remember all your previous Journal entries are safe and will flow into the updated site and app.

This is a message for Diary Mobile users using version 2 of the App or less.

It affects your use of Apple Push Notifications in the old Diary Mobile App for Daily Agendas and Events.

The Apple Push Notifications will be switched off shortly.

Why are we doing this? The cost and infrastructure for us is too expensive on a free service :/ Please Update your App, as you are 5 versions of the App behind.

This affects a handful of users.

So please UPDATE your App :D
