I know, all this basic stuff is bothersome but if you doubt what I say - at least scroll down to the bottom of this article, you can't miss it.

It all starts with Social Media.
Social Media is the actual platforms, websites and sometimes content that allows individuals, groups, and/or companies to interact, network and socialize for personal or business reasons.

Social Media is the top of the food chain, simply because without it this Blog wouldn't exist, Wordpress wouldn't be around or the RSS Feed you may be reading this from, and neither would most Tubes. Things would be very different.

Almost everything is Social Networking.
The ability to be part of the community or group as well as experiencing what others share and sharing alike can be major factors (but not always) in growing with each of the Social Mediums.

The Basic Idea: Simple enough, it's what you do at trade shows and on forums. It's you being you, shaking hands, trading business cards, bouncing from one new friend to a new introduced friend, that contain all smiles and hellos.

Direct that same Social friendliness, the willingness to help and trade ideas, towards the Networking aspects of each of the ONLINE Social Mediums.

Growing a Social Network of friends, followers and groups can give you a extra juice when the time it's time for mass exposure. Ask your friends giving you some extra love. Just remember to return the favor, several times over. Networking is about being friendly, creating trust and being the real you.

The tough job of Social Marketing.
Social Marketing means you are creating behavioral changes in people through social manipulation, in ways that allow you market yourself, products, goods, services or brand without it looking like Spam.

For the Adult Industry if we are only marketing it will be considered Spam, when you add in the Social friendliness it magically changes from Spam to contributing to the community.

The Basic Idea: Become part of the community first. It really is a major key factor. Spam is Spam, no reason to drop links when you first start, contribute first! It starts here we will go more into the good shit in later posts.

Make Social News benefit you.
Social News Websites can be used by just about anyone in the Industry. If you read news, watch non-adult videos, read blogs, search for articles, research stuff and find interesting websites, and the list goes on - you can use Social News Websites to benefit you. And yes, some even take Porn directly.

The Basic Idea: News, Articles, Lists, Videos and Pictures are aggregated through submission, and then posted out to the community. The Social News Community then ranks, votes, and/or comments on the submitted information.

The more you contribute from articles to ranking and comments, the more you and your articles get exposed, if proper Social Networking is applied it can greatly explode the exposure.

The hardest factor for us with Social News is actually adding our material to the network. It's easy with some, as they allow a mixture of information. Others will require unique and real adult industry "press releases" created in a way that allows you to share your information with the mainstream world.

The goal is to get lucky, and gain free exposure from the mainstream press, in a positive way. ~ It's possible and it's free!

Start simple, go with Social Bookmark Websites.
The quickest and simplest way to grow links and gain easy and free exposure is through Social Bookmarking. Instead of adding a bookmark to your browser, you store and organize the bookmark with a Social Bookmark Website. Sharing it with others and gaining a free link.

The Basic Idea: From what I have seen, anything goes. Meaning, you can Bookmark Porn, Paysites, your Business, unique pages, articles, etc. Selecting the proper tags and categories, often can boost your newly submitted page to the top of those pages, for a short bit at least, bringing in traffic.

The more of your bookmarks that are bookmarked by others, commented or ranked by others, often will increase the overall exposure given to the bookmark. If it's a blog, it may give you more authority ranking at Technorati, the cross benefits start.

Skip Failing, I Did That For Us Already!

Right now, each of us on our own could setup with several Social Websites and get at it. But the honest truth is, and I know from personal experience, failure will soon follow for most.

But I know the reason! While it may not be a total failure, it often does fail because of the "Social" aspects. When I put my profile up that says I'm a Pornographer, even if I contribute the response on what I submit can be tad slow.

It does sometimes just work: If you are a solo model or a porn star, some studios and even major websites, it's almost an instant response. You already have a Social Following, now you just gave them a way to stay updated, follow or network with you, and without question "your brand can be exposed to them, instantly!"

How Social Media Can Benefit You and Me!

Starting with Media, Marketing, Networking and Bookmarking - They all have one thing that ties them together, and it's the Social Aspect of the deal. This is part of the reason I failed, and the reason I'm writing this.

Volume is god, and as long as we aren't spamming we will be able to filter the traffic from the very first click. Sales will happen, trades will grow, exits will exchange. What will the end results be? I have no idea, that's why I need help.

That's a peak of 80k+ unique visitors an HOUR, and One Million Unique Hits in a SINGLE DAY...All from Social Media! This is a bit of an "extreme example" but either way, it's a REAL EXAMPLE of how powerful of Social Media is.

Not sure how big that is? That's how much traffic the largest adult affiliate programs produce across the entire network of Paysites. It's that damn big.

Even at 1:20,000 ratio (after exchanges), at only $20 a sale, that's $1000 a day or $30,000 extra a month!!!!!!

The very basic idea of Twitter is simple, it's a micro blogging platform that publishes short 140 character or less conversations. Looking at it from the outside, it appears to look like a half printed phone conversation that you can only catch one side of.

Once you start using Twitter, you quickly start to understand that you are taking part in a totally new experience! You can engage with your followers like never possible before. It's acceptable to interrupt a topic and inject your thoughts; it's not spamming to share what you are reading, doing, or just created.

Twitter is about you, being you. You don't have to tweet your life, but some people do. Some tweet business, others share links, others retweet: and some just say hello or goodnight once a day.

Like many of us do on our instant messenger, emails, text messages and even forums, almost every day. It's all general socializing and chatter.

A New Communication Tool!
Outside of having some fun on Twitter, it is also a tool, and not just any tool. It's an amazing communications tool, on par instant messenger, email and even text messaging. Twitter will allow you to communicate in a new ways, not otherwise thought possible. Let me give you some examples.

• You are away from the computer, and your phones Internet access is not working, but you are able to send a text message. Now you have the ability to ask a large groups of people (some of which clearly have nothing else to do all day but) to help you out with getting directions, finding a hotels phone number, getting taxi info and sometimes even a local contact from Twitter directly.

• You are out playing Golf; while waiting to putt on hole 3, you witness a Mazda attempt to slide under a School Bus. After a 911-phone call, you bust out the camera phone and snap a few pictures.You send the pictures to TwitPic, and bam, your amazing moment is online for the world to see!

  Now like the chain reaction of events, a follower of yours notices that the person getting out of the Mazda is a drunken movie star. You being on hole 4 now, never noticed. By time you return, the social world had sunk its viral teeth deep into this hot topic.

  And being so, everything that is you and your brand, is broadcasted for free, to possibly millions of other people.

Think those stories are too much to be true? Pictures of the Hudson River Airplane Crash first showed up Twitter via TwitPic, crazy I know!

The Mumbai Massacre was reported in real time from several people at near ground zero. The Tweets came in so quickly it exposed a limitation in excessive posting on Twitter.

The possibilities of how Twitter can and will be used is almost limitless.

Twitter wouldn't be Twitter if it were only a web application. What makes Twitter amazing in my eyes is how many ways you can update Twitter.

1. Text Message: Check the settings tab in your Twitter account, allowing you to input your phone information. Twitter will then text you and the magic is done, enjoy posting. Now tweet or direct tweet from jury duty, getting the nails done, doctor's office, coffee shop or the golf course.
2. Cell Phone: Through applications for the BlackBerry, iPhone or iPod Touch, Palm OS and through any phone that supports Java you can access your Twitter account, send tweets, reply to Direct Messages and use most other basic Twitter features.
   • Sleep time for text messages with Twitter, I know how many of you love to text message but we all need our beauty sleep!
3. Desktop: You can find several desktop top applications for Twitter, but personally like and use Twhirl. So far I haven't had any issues with it, and it works much like any other IM software. However, others desktop applications include: Spaz (mac,win,linux), Witty (vista/xp), and Snitter (mac/win), this is the short list.
4. IM Software: If you use AIM, MSN/Windows Live, Google Talk, Jabber or ICQ then tools like Digsby and Imified will allow you to update your Twitter account and other Social Websites straight from the most popular instant messengers.
5. iGoogle Homepage: Using the BeTwittered gadget on your iGoogle hompage should allow you to frequently see updates and replies to Twitter. Even the busiest people can following along and quickly contribute now.
6. Browsers: Through the Opera and the Firefox extension Twitter Bar, you can update Twitter by typing directly into your Address Bar. This is a great way to share links too. Others include: TwitterFox and Twitbin.
7. Email: Through services like Twitter Mail and Message Dance you can update Twitter and other Social Accounts through sending an email via the email and even cell phone.
8. Social Websites: Like Facebook and many others, allow you to integrate the Social Accounts together. When you publish new updates to any of the integrated accounts, the new updates will be shared across the various Social Networking, Bookmark, and Media Websites you use.
9. Wordpress Plugins: Such as Twitter Updater and Twitter Tools, you can post your Blog updates to Twitter or your Twitter updates to your Blog. Other cool Twitter Wordpress Plugins include: Tweet Suite and TwitThis.
10. Other Web Applications: Twitter isn't short of online tools that allow you to perform a mixture of Twitter friendly functions. Some update directly to Twitter, others are for business or personal use, and others are amazing research tools. Start by posting polls, tracking packages, Twitter search and more search, view twitter rankings, find influential people, then research followers, report changes in followers via email, and the list goes on and on.

1. Instant Messenger: Through desktop tools like Twhirl you can use Twitter much like an instant messenger tool, as mentioned above. The advantages of an IM Tool that can contain at least 100,000+ Followers. wow, let alone all the other advantages IM has given us already.
2. Fan Base: It doesn't matter what area of the Adult Industry you are in, you can find a large number of adult fans on Twitter willing to follow you and your adventures.
3. Customer Support: Products, Software, Cams, VOD, Paysites and even every type of Free Site owner, could use Twitter. From keeping customers and fans of updated, announcements on new products, site changes, ask opinions, offer polls, and even have contests and give away products, memberships, and other gifts. What a great way to mass notify people and not deal with email filters, email laws, and complaints.
4. People to Hire: Looking for a writer, graphic designer, video editor, photographer, etc? Simply tweet your followers and ask! Don't forget to ask for a retweet for a little extra bump.
5. Feedback: Getting instant feedback on designs, new sites, or ideas has never been quicker!
6. Branding: The more followers, the more you participate, retweet, reply, and overall just contribute the more you and your products, will get branded.
7. News: Depending on whom you follow, just about every news source has been put on Twitter by someone. From Adult, mainstream and breaking news, Twitter has it.
8. New Business: It's very easy to find new Business and re-establish old business contacts with Twitter. Within my first 48 hours on Twitter I reconnected with 3xtom and landed a consulting deal to help him with one of his Programs. A simple hello is a very powerful thing.
9. New Friends: It isn't always about business either. As you connect with new people, you are also connected to that persons friend list. So making new friends brings in new followers!
10. Learning: To stay on top of today's newest ideas, tools, articles on new seo techniques, whatever your thrill is, Twitter has it. Following just a few of the correct people can lead you to more new and innovative information than one human could ever consume.

Once the 80's finally made it around, the Telephone (phone sex), recording technologies (VCR), Cable TV (subscription porn), and much more became a small part of what Porn help create the booms for.

The Porn boom of the 90's easily crushed any previous explosions in Porn, maybe short of Larry Flynt's explosion onto the scene. Without question the Online Adult Industry helped innovate, expanded and created some of the best commerce, marketing, and traffic driving ideas to date!

But something happened, just before the dot com boom, while most of the Online Porn Industry didn't notice anything, the Mainstream Adult Industry started to feel the crunch from a major technology spit. After 2000 and for sure by 2002, the articles and rumors that the Mainstream Porn Industry was starting to feel a hurt quickly spread around.

It wasn't a secret that the Mainstream Porn Industry blamed the online world for the downfall. From Piracy, to Gallery Posts giving everything away for free. They viewed us as a problem. And like wise today, the Online Porn Industry blames the Tubes and Piracy, for the downfall that most of the Adult Industry is feeling.

The finger pointing changed directions, now that most of Mainstream Porn went online through some Paysite or Video on Demand service. The finger pointing has really charged directions.

The result? The Industry started to copy each other. The majority of the Adult Industry looked at what the competition had created and copied them. From Paysites, DVD's, Affiliate Programs, Marketing Ideas, Traffic of every type, and so on. We clammed up; we stopped doing something very important to our entire Industry survival.

We quit following the trends... We assumed since the 90's appeared so good, that we were the Kings of Online! We never noticed the world around us changed, we stood still and the entire Internet followed other fads and trends and we didn't.

All these fads and trends, created one thing, a much bigger Internet. It wasn't more people, even though more came online ever day, it was more attractions that keep people busy and away from Porn! They Stole Our Surfers!

Let's name a few: Role playing games (WoW), all games on computers, social networking and media, all online news, email, feed readers, cell phones, articles of all types, forums, chat rooms, design and help sites, communities of all kinds, local online hangouts, Bbay, Amazon, YouTube, music sites of all types, dating sites, and the list goes into the 10,000's. Then with Piracy, lets be honest, Torrent get used to find mainstream movies, music and software. Porn is a bonus, not the reason they use it. Even pirated music, it's a person doing something other than looking for Porn that is important.

Today people at the mass levels don't come online and think about Porn. What they crave is Entertainment in general. If it's watching some nut job ride a bike off a house on You Tube or talking to friends or business on Social networks. What they aren't doing is "looking for porn" but that doesn't mean they won't watch it, or grab that bonus Porn, if it's offered to them.

General People on the Internet are following the trends and fads of the Internet, and the majority of the Adult Industry, does not participate. The Adult Industry can't sit back and continue to watch the millions and millions of online users get branded by 1000's of other brands daily, that aren't our own, that aren't Porn. People have started to forget about us!

As the average person watches the News or hear friends talk about Twitter, FaceBook, Myspace, Games and so on, they go to check it out directly. After the exposure is higher enough, they almost all follow the trend. Most don't do it for Business they do it for fun, finding old friends, meeting new friends, and sharing ideas.

Most adults consume these trends and fads, like they're back in 8^th grade cutting and bleaching jeans, doing crazy hairstyles, saying funny words, or maybe sandals made you the trendsetter back in the late 60's. We all did and we all still follow fads and trends. Even that big giant flat screen hanging on the wall, or the super satellite package with some godly amount of channels no human could ever possibly watch. It's all some fad or part of a trend, most of us blindly follow someone else ideas or likes in our daily lives, but we ignore these same patterns of habits when it comes to our own Business.

Like the Mainstream Adult Industry ignored the Internet trend, the Online Adult Industry now ignores the traffic trends happening all around it. The Internet continues to boom, while most of the Adult Industry feels they are dieing.

The Adult Industry does not set fads or trends, it follows and defines them, it helps create and expose amazing things to millions of people. The Adult Industry seems to have forgotten that. Once the majority of the Adult Industry embraces these fads and trends as part of Business, the masses of Adult Webmasters will do something very powerful!

As the expansion into these global online trends take place it will create trickles of traffic back into the Adult Industry. Once this happens across 1000's of Webmasters and Companies, it will bring several million unique eyeballs viewing Adult Websites and Products, every day!

This newfound source of trend traffic will naturally filter through the majority of the Adult Internet. Through trade scripts, link exchanges, exits, cross sales and even back into the Social Networks. The sharing and exchanging of traffic and buyers, is the one thing the Adult Industry does really well.

Things have changed, traffic has moved, but people are still buying. People are doing different things and they perceive the Internet differently than they did 5 or 10 years ago. We have to adapt, go get the people and bring them to us, not wait for them remember us.

The Adult Industry must start following these trends; it must expand and force its dirty hands into all areas of the Internet. If people in the Industry wish to stop the downward spiral they think it's in, they must first stop being the "Online Adult Industry" and become part of the new Social Internet trend.

Having fun on Adult Webmaster Forums and talking on ICQ or IM, going to trade shows, in general being nice and having a good time, is Social Networking and Social Marketing. The Internet has changed, but the people haven't, they are willing to spend the money, we just have to get them to us, rather us waiting on them to return.

We can take back what once belonged to the Adult Industry, returning us to the global traffic power and the Internet attention whores! But that means we have to put our egos aside, forget about fears of the unknown, and try something new that you may not at first understand. The words 'adapt or die', have never rang so true.

The Pornography Industry has lost its Marketing Marbles.

If you didn't already know, Gay is not a Niche. It's a Market or if you want an Industry word, it's a Master Niche.

A master niche can't be a niche by itself - it's far to general in meaning. Saying that you plan on opening a Gay Site could mean Gay Men or Gay Women. Saying you are opening a straight site, while sounding odd, could mean blowjobs, amateur sex, solo girl, and so on.

The gay markets include hundreds of niches and sub-niches, men and women... just like the straight markets do.

Even I get trapped into the Gay Niche syndrome. After all, lesbians are all just hot chicks having fun right?

Gay Market or Gay Niche?

The owner of Free Money Finance was privileged enough to land Visa as a Sponsor. Being so, he took the time to pull his big brass balls out and asked Visa a question.

The question, without all the extra B.S. added to it was basically, "If you take credit cards do you have to take debit cards?"

From the Article and Visa's response:

"While the overwhelming majority of merchants who accept Visa choose to accept all of our products, merchants have choices when it comes to acceptance of Visa products. They may accept all Visa cards. They may choose to accept Visa credit and business cards only, or they may choose to accept consumer debit and prepaid cards only. These options apply to cards issued in the United States. A merchant accepting any category of Visa products (e.g., debit, credit) must accept all payment cards issued outside the United States."

Interesting... I wonder if Visa International has more fraud on one card service more than the other?

Either way, something fishy is going down since U.S. Merchant Banks "are often declining" transactions that process through Visa EU Accounts due to the amount of fraud that has happened and is happening.

I have probably 50 questions I would love to run past them. Starting with, "What is taking you so long on stopping the fraud in our Industry?" And I would end with, "Do you need some help?"

• AOL will be broadcasting the inauguration live on AOL Radio.
• Air America will be covering the inauguration allowing you to Listen Live through the online radio stream.
• If you have Sirius Satellite Radio they will be broadcasting the inauguration live through several channels.

CBS will be streaming its new feed of the Inauguration online to U.S. users through Hulu.

• Directly from the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies, they will be streaming the event live along with providing closed captioning of the event.
• C-Span will offer all four of its channels online for Obama's Inauguration.

• PBS Coverage for the Public.
• MSNBC live streams work the best for me, so I'm hiding it down here.

Now embed directly into the morning paper is a live stream... that would be cool, eh? Instead, you can check USAToday's Stream and the New York Times Website for streams of the Inauguration.

History is being made in more way than one!
This is a very short list of the rather long list of where you can watch the Inauguration on-line. It's amazing to me that so many companies from so many different Countries are now able to offer this historic event, live!
