Hello,

I am doing a victorian house and I just need a bit of advice regarding the scullery.

It's all painted white at the moment, but it looks far too clean. Is there any technique that I can use to make the walls look a bit filthy and sooty?

Also, I was wondering if the scullery would also double up slightly as a larder in the victorian household? I don't have enough rooms for a separate scullery and larder but I really want a room for various hanging meats etc.

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this x

Hi I am in a bit of a a pickle re attaching light fittings to the copper strip in the house I recently had as a gift.
I have bought the pins and have been advised that I shoulde takeoff the plug from the light fitting and put the wires from the light fitting into the pins which are in the copper strip. Is there a way of securing the wire in the pins and also do I take the copper wire each time to whre the lights/fires are going to be or do I run a copper wire centrally down a wall, etc.

I am sure it is very simple but I am having great difficulty getting my head round it

Look forward to any help with this

Hi I'm Jenny, mum to Sio and thanks to her boyfriend who got us both addicted (!) I'm now the proud owner of a Len Lewis house, a birthday present from my husband, John. However, I am totally overwhelmed by it all and after 3 months of doing some staring, I'm still unsure where to start! At the moment I think the best place to start is decide on my lighting so I can at leaat start one room although I still have the outside to do,for which I have got some Peter Clark samples. I am using the copper tape method of lighting and if anyone has any advice before I begin I would be very appreciative. Although its a Georgian style house, I am doing it Victorian era. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Look forward to talking to you all and hearing about your houses too!

How do I create an antique/aged/worn look on furniture?

Hi there,

Apologies if this thread is elsewhere.....

Just starting my second dolls house (a shop!) and I'd like to create a shabby-chic tea room/cake shop. My idea is to have white wood/pale green furniture throughout, but I don't want it to look too pristine!!
Can someone advise me on techniques? I guess I am to paint the furniture with white matt emulsion then sandpaper it until it looks worn/aged? I was wondering whether I should use anything different - maybe a special paint product that gives an aged look? It gives a crackle effect look I think? ....I have no clue what the name is????

Also, does nail varnish work over matt white emulsion paint? I would like to give my pieces of furniture a gold trim. Or would it be best to use paint? I cant seem to find gold in tester pots....I'm very confused!!!

Any help would be appreciated!!

Hi,

Sorry if this a repeat thread but I dunno if any one has come across this lady before. She makes dolls to how you want them to be and will not send them out to you untill you are a 100% happy with how they look in the pictures.

I have a set of dolls on order with her and she seems like a very nice lady, always helpful and willing to chat.

You do have to wait for the dolls to be ready but it is worth it ( will i think it is anyway if you want to add a slightly more personaly touch to the dolls house.) if the pictures on her website are anything to go by as they all look amazing.

I am soo looking forward to seeing pictures of the ones she's making for me. She should be starting on them the end of this month YAY...
