Irresistable products from The Dolls House Emporium and some imaginative design from creatives in the world of media have combined to bring some great visuals this month.

The new ‘Le Château’ was given a slightly different treatment by Dollshouse World magazine, which opted to show what can be done with the interior – rather than showcase the magnificent exterior, based on period designs from the Loire.

Then in the same month came Charles Dickens’ birthday, when Dolls’ House and Miniature Scene used an imaginative mock-up of The Old Curiosity Shop, packed with Dolls House Emporium miniature furniture and accessories.

We were also pleased to see that Linwood Fabrics and Wallpaper used The Classical Dolls’ House from our range to promote their spring 2012 collection, Checks & Dogs & Rock ‘n’ Roll.

If your company would like to make use of anything in our range, don’t hesitate to give us a call. Or if you spot a Dolls House Emporium product in the news, please let us know.

The production office for the show called prior to their autumn filming looking for a grand dolls’ house for 165 Eaton Place, where all the action takes place.

Upstairs Downstairs, Series 2, Episode 1

The Dolls House Emporium regularly loans houses and miniature accessories to production companies who need something a little different for their advert, film or music video.

Of course, we were happy to loan a Montgomery Hall and its basement, which together stand more than a metre tall – and fit in beautifully with the ambience of Eaton Place.

The show itself follows the fortunes of a diplomat’s family and their servants in the grand London townhouse. The new series will “begin” in 1938 and span the months leading up to the outbreak of World War II.

Our first view of Montgomery Hall

The six, new, 60-minute episodes began filming in October and started broadcasting on BBC1 this month.

Montgomery Hall is already featured in the Darwin children’s nursery in the film ‘Creation’ and as part of the Coutts & Co bank Christmas window display in the heart of London – and now has more credentials to add to its CV. One recent success was with Asprey’s jewellers, which used tiny furniture to display their finest gems.

Montgomery Hall is ideal for period and contemporary drama settings and features:

Georgian-style house.

Six, beautifully-proportioned rooms on three floors.

Two opening front panels.

Generous hall and landings.

Hipped roof and solid chimneys.

Full-height coping stones.

Impressive front entrance.

Elegant façade appealing to the collector.

Dolls’ house furniture is proving an invaluable tool to help grieving children.

Role-play has always been a useful method of running through some uncertain scenarios.

The bereavement charity, Holding On Letting Go, works with children and their families after the recent death of a significant person in their lives.

One activity they run is to give a child a sand tray with lots of miniature dolls, vehicles and furniture so that they can express what life was like before, during and after losing the person they loved.

Children naturally play. Through their play they can be creative, live out their imaginations, develop social skills and express their feelings freely.

Holding On Letting Go runs non-residential weekend events in Sittingbourne, Kent, where bereaved children visit to explore their feelings through such creative and therapeutic work.

It’s a useful exercise, according to Caroline Pittard at Holding On Letting Go: “It helps them explore and understand their feelings.

“We give them the opportunity to mix with other children who have lost someone they have loved.

“Some of the children who come on these weekends may have been bullied because they have lost their mum or dad and we give a secure environment where they won’t be mocked and where they can work through their anger, grief and all of their feelings.”

Derbyshire-based The Dolls’ House Emporium is delighted to assist this healing work with children by donating the dolls’ house beds requested. If your company can help Holding On Letting Go in any way, please contact Caroline on 08445 611511.
