Welcome to The Dream Factory's new classroom in Room 215. It was a great first day. We rode buses, practiced using lockers for the first time, and watched the 44th President of the United States on our smartboard. It doesn't get much better than this!

Christmas in January

School was closed on the Friday before Christmas Vacation so we completely enjoyed opening our gifts on Monday January 5th. Students shared that the Elves had sent letters to their homes in response to Santa letters we sent on December 15th. Things do happen at The Dream Factory!

Our Fieldtrip to Room 215

Our field trip becgan with a bus ride to Room 215 at our new school location. We took our bears there so that they could get use to the new classroom. they stayed in our lockers and are waiting for us to come on January 20th. We can't wait!!!

Pizza Box Games

A special thanks to Miss Morton and Mr. Haley for joining us this fall from the University of Akron. Today was their last day with us and they brought pizza box games that they created to help us with our addition.

Zero Day

I left on Friday so I tool the pictures today. He made happy faces when I was taking the pictures. He was acting like he was asleep but he was playing with us. He came out because it was zero day. He is a nice pet. Zero is my friend.

Making Flags for the Wind

Mr. Haley taught us about the wind. We made a flag. It showed us the wind. Today we had a wind of number 2 which means it was windy. We colored the flags with markers.Science is thumbs up!

Praying Mantis

Mrs. Modugno (second grade - room 206) found this praying mantis on her window sill. We captured it and The Dream Factory had a chance to see him up close and personal. We are feeding him crickets and will release him this week. He is so cool and hungry!

Today's final letter to Parents:

Dear Parents,

It really seems like only last week that I was writing you the first letter of the school year and yet here we are on the final day of first grade in Room 204 of The Dream Factory. Thank you for allowing me to work with and enjoy your child this school year. I consider it a privilege to have had this opportunity. Your child has made a difference to the makeup of our class and I hope that he or she will take many good memories (as well as skills) out of our classroom today and into the future.

Today your child will receive Summer Counts, a book that is loaded with good activities to help keep skills sharpened. Remember that Tuesday, June 10 at 2:00 is the West Hill Library Ice Cream Social. This is a great way to kick off summer reading with your child.

Please let me know if I can be of any service to you and your family in the coming years since you are now Dream Factory Alumni and Family. ;-)

A Cold Beaver Marsh

This had to be the coldest May visit to the Beaver Marsh to date. We could have worn gloves! In spite of the overcast and the threat of rain, Room 204 enjoyed the morning walk and experienced both the man-made features of the valley "canal - seen here" and the way that nature "the beavers" altered the landscape and habitat.

Throughout the hike we observed the Cuyahoga Valley Railroad Line in the distance that was the one we rode on in April on our Rivers, Roads & Rails experience. ;-)

This is the safe way to view the canal lock: up close and personal.

RCET at Kent State University

Room 204 was invited to the "Celebrating 10 Years" at RCET - Kent State University on May 14, 2008. Sir and Dorian H. represented our class that evening and showed attendees all of the work we did when our class visited Kent State AT&T Classroom of the Future in November and December of 2007.
