LOGAN, Ohio — More animal cruelty at D’D and a teen I wouldn’t mind seeing catch a bit of PETA Hell if what he is accused of doing is true. Prosecutors say 18-year-old Bryan Able killed and mutilated a stranger’s house cat, then used the animal’s organs as fishing bait. Saundra Harvey, an agent with the Humane Society, went into a bit more detail saying he “went to a home, went up on the porch, picked up a cat, took it to his pickup truck, threw it on the ground. The cat was meowing; he stomped its head, proceeded to disembowel it, took its liver and went fishing with it.” But he wasn’t done there. He later took the cat’s carcass and placed it on the hood of a student’s car parked at Hocking College. A college where Able is a law enforcement student. Prosecutors are frustrated because the toughest charge they can file is a misdemeanor animal cruelty charge.

If convicted, Able faces a maximum sentence of six months in prison. But that doesn’t sit well with Hocking County Prosecutor Laina Fetherolf. “Someone who could do something like this has the potential to be a very dangerous person,” Fetherolf said. “The laws need to be changed accordingly.” Look, I know cats are from hell. I own one myself – we hate each other. It stares at me and I know that it is just waiting for me to die so that it can feast on my testicles. But damn, sent from the bowels of hell or not, this cat was someone’s pet. The lack of empathy with some of these animal abusers astounds me at times…as does the abundance of stupidity.

I’m pretty sure I found his Myspace, not that it took a lot of effort, but not gonna post it without proof of it being him. Although, his friends posting pictures of cats in his comments section kinda lean towards it being the same guy.

The cat’s name was Lucky. Here is a post the owner made over at Cafemom.com titled Someone killed my cat. A little more detail is in her post, especially the part about Bryan being in the company of two girls when he did this. You do not have to be a member to read it. It includes a picture of the cat in question.

WEST PHILADELPHIA – Scarce info at this point, but the news is reporting that two teens got into an argument on a school bus that ended when a 15-year-old pulled out a gun and shot at the 17-year-old, grazing his ear. The injuries were not life-threatening, but the victim shit his pants was taken to the hospital where he was reported to be in stable condition. The suspect then shoved the gun in the bus driver’s face before getting off and fleeing the scene. He was arrested a couple blocks away still carrying the .25-caliber handgun. The school bus was on its way to the CEP Miller Disciplinary School, where both the shooter and the victim are students. No word on if the bus had cameras installed. By time police arrived, some of the students had left the bus and walked the rest of the way to school.

Belen, New Mexico – The story of any son getting so angry at their father that he would shoot them in the back of the head is tragic enough but this story is compounded by the fact that Benjamin Hilburn was only 10 when he pulled the trigger. Benjamin would state in the 911 call that he was angry at his father, 42-year-old Bryon Hilburn. He would expand on that later, telling investigators he felt his father was too harsh with him and punished him too much. In August police say Benjamin shot his dad in the back of the head with a shotgun while his 6-year-old sister was in the room. Benjamin, now 11 years old, is in the custody of his mother and has been charged with first-degree murder. It is quite possible he is the youngest person to be charged with murder in New Mexico, a state that does not charge anyone under 14 as adults. The reason why he is with his mother, and not in jail or a juvenile facility is because in New Mexico, you cannot detain anyone under the age of 12. Valencia County DA Lemuel Martinez has concerns that the boy may act out again on someone else, but CYFD spokesperson Romaine Serna says the boy is being closely monitored. “There are several people in the home on a weekly basis. A CYFD clinical social worker is providing services to the family as well as contract providers. So there are several visits during a week,” he said.

The boy’s attorney, Jeff Buckels, says it is preposterous that the boy would be capable of committing deliberate murder. “Murder in this state and everywhere else requires premeditation and requires some appreciation for what is going on,” said Buckels. “I think it is basically obvious to almost anyone that is asking too much of a 10-year-old.”

Back in September, his mother, Monica Albear, defended her son saying that he was being abused. “They’re basically trying to say he’s crazy and he’s not, he’s a very intelligent, he is very loving, he’s very caring. He worries about his mom a lot. I would like for people to quit voicing, putting mean things on the Internet, because it’s just not fair,” Albear said. “They don’t know who he is, they don’t know what he’s been through, they don’t know what my family has been through. And I think it’s wrong and I think my son deserves justice.”

Why would she leave Benjamin and his siblings in the custody of Bryon if she knew that there was abuse in the home. Some reports state that she has been absent from the children most of their life – but her claims of abuse are not unfounded. Children, Youth and Families Department reported its investigators checked out the the home at least seven times in the last several years but said they never found evidence of abuse. Of course the calls could be vindictive in nature, but still – this fact along with Benjamin’s statements give a bit of validity to the claim.

While we do not have the full details of the events leading up to the shooting, you heard the 911 call. What do you think? Collier County, FL - I love my job here at the Dreamin’ Demon – if I weren’t actively searching for stories to post, I would totally miss out on some of the hilarity that occurs in the good ‘ole US of A on a daily basis. Here we have Wal-Mart, public nudity, and dirty underwear all in the same story – what more could you possibly ask for? Meet Todd Napodano – he was airing out his junk in a Wal-Mart parking lot Monday afternoon, when a mother and her daughter happened to pass by his Chevy box van while searching for their own vehicle. When he noticed he had an audience, Todd allegedly stood up in the van and started shaking his hips, and the family jewels, in their general direction. Instead of laughing hysterically and pointing, like I would have done, the women called authorities. When officers rolled onto the scene about an hour later, Todd was still there in the back of his van, all nekkid and stuff, and still in plain view of the public.

When officers confronted Todd and asked him why he was nekkid in the Wal-Mart parking lot, he had a doozy of an excuse at the ready. He told them that he had experienced a case of explosive diarrhea and was using his drawers to clean himself up. But, upon examination of the tighty whities, the officers couldn’t find any evidence of uncontrolled bowels. The undies were stained, but not explosive diarrhea stained. Clarksville, TN – On October 24th, Hee Orama was arrested and charged with misusing 911 – she allegedly called 911, twice, to report that she couldn’t find her car. Hee was given a warning after the first two calls and was arrested after she failed to heed that warning and called twice more. She was booked into the Montgomery County Jail. Now, you think Hee would have learned her lesson from that little stint at the Gray Bar Motel, but nooooo – last Wednesday morning, Hee was pounding those digits again. Her emergency this time? She wanted to report that her boyfriend lied to her about marrying her. Oy vey. Wonder why? Officers responded to the first two calls and explained to the woman that if it wasn’t an emergency, she can’t be dialing 911. A few minutes after the officers left, Hee called 911 again. Officers returned to the home, again, and cited her before giving her yet another warning. And a few minutes after that, Hee called 911 again, but this time wouldn’t say why she called. Fourth time’s a charm I guess – Hee Orama was arrested and charged with misusing 911. Bond was set at $250. Detroit, Michigan – A 21-year-old woman had a delinquent bill with a local Rent-A-Center. So a bill collector was sent to her house to discuss her delinquent account. I wasn’t even aware that Rent-A-Center did that. Anyway, 43-year-old George Herron arrived and sometime during their conversation things turned sexual in nature. Herron told the woman that he could make her Rent-A-Center bill disappear if she performed a sex act on him. He then pulled out his dick and placed her hand on it. When she removed her hand, he decided he didn’t need her anyway, finished masturbating and then left. The woman called police after he called her back and suggested another meeting. Herron was charged with two accounts of criminal sexual conduct in the forth degree and one account of  aggravated indecent exposure.

God knows I have had some lame ways of meeting women over the years. I mean who could forget my disastrous “hit the hot blond in the crosswalk with my car” idea…but damn, George. This was really, really pathetic. Anyone else here ever dealt with Rent-A-Center or their ilk? I wont laugh at you if you have ever used them, I am just curious if it was standard practice for them to send someone to your house to handle debt collections. That just seems pretty shady.

Cincinnati, Ohio – On Halloween night, Oxford police officer pulled over 20-year-old James Miller for finding him driving the wrong way down a one-way street with no headlights. As the officer approached Miller was observed stuffing chewing gum in his mouth. He was also wearing an awesome breathalyzer costume. Miller told the officer he had not been drinking that night, but cops found an open beer in the console of his car and beers in the front seat as well as the trunk. Turns out that Miller was almost two times the legal limit, sporting a blood alcohol level of .15. Miller was cited on charges including operating a vehicle while intoxicated, underage possession of alcohol, having an open container and a fake ID, and a one-way street violation. Miller is an idiot for driving drunk, but I do love the costume.

Sheboygan, WI – Randal Schaal and Kelly Winter weren’t too pleased when they found out their 14-year-old daughter had surreptitiously opened up a Myspace account. Not pleased at all. As a matter of fact, they were so pissed off, they spanked that little whippersnapper real good. According to the arrest report, Kelly found the child’s account and confronted her. The child denied the page was hers. No matter – when Randal got home, he checked out the web page and “freaked out.” The girl told officers that Randal held her down on the ground and spanked her real hard about 20 times. When she tried to get away, Randal allegedly kicked the child in the left hip, said something about “making it even” before kicking her in the right hip. The child said her mother then grabbed her by the hair, pushed her head into the wall, and asked, “What’s it feel like to have both your parents beat on you?” Damn. Overreact much? A spanking? At 14? I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume that Randal may have some issues with anger.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – On Monday, 64-year-old detention deputy Kenneth Moon was inside a jail pod with 62 other inmates at Orient Road Jail. Without warning, 24-year-old inmate Douglas Burden attacked him. After charging Moon and bringing him to the ground, Burden began choking him from behind. That’s when other inmates stepped in. One inmate took Moon’s radio and called for emergency assistance while others pulled Burden off the deputy. Burden was in jail on DUI and drug charges and now faces battery on a law enforcement officer charges. No word on what prompted the attack, but read on to see video of it.

“The response of the other inmates in this case I think speaks volumes as to the fact that we treat these men and women that are held in our facilities with a lot of respect,” said HCSO Col. Jim Previtera. He feels the other inmates saved Moon’s life (then why no attempted murder charges?) and says he also thanked those inmates in person. He’s sending a letter of thanks to the attorney’s of the inmates’ who aided Moon that they can use in their court cases.

NEW ROCHELLE, New York – 29-year-old James Pileggi, an Eastchester police officer for two years, was off-duty the other day sitting in the passenger seat of an SUV with two other men. He was showing how the laser feature on his 9mm Glock service weapon worked when he accidentally showed 27-year-old Andrew Everett how deadly the weapon is by shooting him in the throat. Everett, who was standing outside of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Pileggi has been charged with second-degree manslaughter. Defense attorney Angelo MacDonald, “The deceased is a very close friend. He was in tears over this.“

Discovery Communications Inc. announced that its net income for the third quarter fell 29 percent. They did report an income of $95 million which may not sound like loose change, is a significant difference from the $134 million net income they reported in this same quarter last year. How does this effect you? Well some of you it won’t. But for fans of David Lohr – well, you’re gonna have to go elsewhere for your fix. He and approximately 30 others were given the pink slip. According to Simon Barrett over at Blogger News Network the rumor is that this decision is a result of acquiring the How Stuff Works web site. Now I don’t know David personally, but the guy has always seemed like a class act. His Criminal Report Daily blog displays his writing and investigative talent. He does the footwork and interviews and goes out of his way to help people with missing friends or family. Fans of David Lohr have banded together and created a Facebook Cause Page to express their dismay and are encouraging people to contact The Discovery Channel via their Viewer Relations form. It’s a shame that a real crime journalist with an actual interest in helping families find missing loved ones is axed, yet Nancy Grace and Pat Brown are still spewing their bullshit on television.

I had to edit this post for those of you who read this earlier. I had been under the impression that ID was getting axed. It’s not. Which would have been a shame not only because of some great programming being lost, but because of the loss of my future wife – Maureen Maher.

MOUNT VERNON, New York - I have no idea how I missed this horrific story. But I did. Calls started coming into 911 stating that a naked woman was walking down the street screaming. Some witnesses thought that she had a doll with her. As it turns out, the doll was her 5-month-old son. In front of bystanders, she raised the baby over her head and slammed him into the sidewalk in front of St. Ursula’s Roman Catholic Church. Twice. One witnessed said that she  tossed the baby into the street like he was a football. When police arrived, a Good Samaritan had already wrestled the infant away and handed him to Mount Vernon Police Commissioner, David Chong. He was rushed to Mount Vernon Hospital, and later transferred to the Westchester Medical Center trauma unit where he is still in critical condition. Brown was charged with first-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child. She is currently in Valhalla’s county jail and on a suicide watch.

Atlanta, Georgia – When John Michalik observed a group of Atlanta Department of Public Works employees doing a bit of Jack and Shit while blocking a road – he pulled out his camera and began filming them. The workers were not pleased by being on camera and one of them let Michalik know it with threats and racial slurs. “You keep putting that camera in my face, I’ll tell you what I’ll do. I’ll take that motherfucking camera and whoop your ass,” yelled a DPW employee on the tape. What was the worker doing? reading a tabloid that he displayed to the camera saying he was, “Reading about y’alls crazy ass white folks.” While his fellow employees tried to calm the their fellow worker down, he wasn’t finished. He called John Michalik a “crazy ass cracker” and before driving off he stated, “I’m ’bout to get this motherfucking hammer and beat the fucking hell out of him.”

My problem is not how it is being handled as I think they are going about it correctly. The article has DPW stating they do not tolerate this type of behavior and that both sides will sit down at a meeting at City Hall on Wednesday morning. Make a public statement condemning the actions of the employee and then simply fire the guy. His conduct was completely unwarranted and ultimately unbecoming a city worker who is paid by the citizens of Atlanta. I’m sure he is easily replaceable. Done.  My problem is that had the races been reversed, there would have undoubtedly been accompanied by a media circus and leaders descendeding on Atlanta calling for the heads of the DPW crew.

SYRACUSE, New York – When Joanne Cichy returned home from trick-or-treating with her kids Saturday, she could not find her kitten. It wasn’t until she checked her digital camera the next day that she realized what had happened to it. On the camera was video of her live-in boyfriend, 22-year-old Rascell Williams, using a belt to hang the kitten from a door frame. The video shows the kitten struggling before going motionless and Williams walking in and out of frame. Williams was charged with unjustifiable animal cruelty. The 4-month-old kitten was later found alive under the porch.

BEDFORD, Pennsylvania - Fifty-six-year-old Evelyn Border and her 35-year-old daughter, Tina Griekspoor, stole two Wal-mart gift cards from a 9-year-old girl who had set them down while an employee helped her. One was for $50, the other for $30. They then attempted to use them twice before being caught. Their punishment for their crime? They had to stand outside the courthouse for 4 1/2 hours Tuesday each holding signs that read: “I stole from a 9-year-old girl on her birthday! Don’t steal or this could happen to you!” Because they did this, Bedford County District Attorney Bill Higgins says he’ll ask for probation instead of jail when they plead guilty to the theft.

I know some people are out there right now spouting that the punishment doesn’t fit the crime. That humiliation is cruel and unusual and that these people were obviously desperate. I say so fucking what? A lot of people on hard times right now not out stealing from other people. Besides, I think a bit of public shaming goes a long way and is a much better deterrent than 30 days in jail or some probation.  Assistant District Attorney Travis W. Livengood, is the one who suggested the punishment.  “Such shameful conduct deserves to be met by equally shameful punishment,” he said.

I like what Livengood is selling. But then again, if I had it my way – downtown streets would still have stockades full of petty criminals with buckets of soft, squishy tomatoes for law-abiding citizens to toss. Besides, it keeps the jails and prisons full of people who deserve to be there. Border says she knows what they did was a mistake and that she agreed to the sign holding because it meant she would avoid jail. She didn’t have the money to fight it anyway she says. Griekspoor (ironic) added “I have a family I’m supporting. My husband is laid off.”

Since having a family with a laid of husband does not get you out of having to pay for getting caught stealing, I think this punishment is perfect. Throwing her in jail would just compound the problem.  Anyway, the mother of the little girl said she planned on driving her daughter by the two women so that she can see what happens to people who take things that do not belong to them.
