Los Angeles is the home to hipsters.. they’re not like the hipsters of NYC. They’re grown a little different on the west coast.

Not too far from the base of operations is a house. This house is better known to friends and strangers alike as the Couch Graveyard. Don’t let the sinister name fool you, the proprietors are interested in a few things – a good time, quality music and meeting fans of the prior two things.

I had this thought that I’d tell you all about this great show and all the details. Basically dome good info combined with some snark but it just won’t do. I can’t tell you about this great show this weekend any better than Carlos.

So here it is:

Fall is upon us and so is the new season…of House Concerts at Couch Graveyard.

Also, I (Carlos) got a new job! I am the new Audience Producer for Lopez Tonight!, a late-night talk show starring George Lopez airing this November on TBS.

To celebrate, I want to treat you, all my friends (and our friends) to a Carne Asada BBQ, Tecate beers, great Live Music, and After-Party. Thank you all for the good times, and I look forward to many more good times ahead! If you haven’t been to one of our House Concerts, this is the one to come to!

|| Main Act || The New Limb || 9 PM
Starting off the seaon’s line up is Orange County favorite, The New Limb. With their earlier EP, Allude to the Sounds, the quartet established themselves as an indy-rock band with a dynamic sound, with softer harmonies to rocking hooks. Their newest EP, Banana, broadens the band’s style with an awesome cover-song medley (Bizarre Love Triangle/Time After Time…yeah, really, and it’s great) along with pianist, Lauren Salamone’s solo work, showing off the band’s musical breadth and training. Their show is really creative, fun, and energetic, so we’re really looking forward it.

|| Opening Act || Aaron Burch || 8 pm
Opening the night will be Aaron Burch of The Good Cheer. Aaron’s solo work runs in line with Nick Drake and other chill, acoustic singer/songwriters. There may also be a small drum circle involved in this one, but Aaron wasn’t sharing too many details.

You Decide. House concerts are a FREE way to get a group of people together around music. We invite these great bands to our home to play for our friends in an intimate, unique setting. At the same time, if you would like to say thanks to the band for providing us some peace of music, here are 2 suggestions. (1) Tip the scale on the tip box. (2) Buy one of their CDs or other items they bring with them.

(Columbia Records; New York, NY – September 22, 2009) – On Tuesday, September 29th The Avett Brothers will release I and Love and You, their major label debut on American Recordings/Columbia Records. I and Love and You was produced by multi Grammy Award winner Rick Rubin. The band is set to perform the title track on the Late Show with David Letterman on Monday September 28. The band will also be seen performing another new track, “Laundry Room,” on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on Tuesday October 6th.

Beginning today, and running through September 29, NPR Music will host an Exclusive First Listen of I and Love and You on their website, www.npr.org/firstlisten, where fans will be able to get a sneak peak of the new album a week prior to release. NPR Music’s distinctive Exclusive First Listen series recently showcased new music from such innovators as Wilco, Moby, Bjork and Neko Case.

The band’s diverse style and consistent touring, along with independent releases, have helped the band build a loyal and rabid fan base. Rolling Stone recently highlighted the band in their ‘Artists To Watch’ proclaiming “Over the course of a decade The Avett Brothers perfected a blend of bluegrass picking, country harmonies and rock & roll energy.” While O Magazine proclaimed “The North Carolina rock band creates elegiac Americana.” The Avett Brothers have toured most of 2009 testing out new material, as well as their older songs. This year alone, the band has performed at SxSW Music Festival, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, as well as upcoming stops at Newport Folk Festival, Mulberry Mountain Festival, Outside Lands Festival, Britt Festival, Austin City Limits Festival and more (see full itinerary below).
