Pillage And Plunder "The Show Must Go Wrong" ALBUM release show - Friday, August 8th, 2014

2014-07-25T09:47:00.003-07:00

Pillage And Plunder "The Show Must Go Wrong" ALBUM release show will be here at The Drunken Unicorn on Friday, August 8th, 2014.

Atlanta’s Pillage & Plunder was birthed from the twisted minds of unnamable gods, and weaned on the teat of comic books, video games, jazz, mathematics, punk and prog. Years of awkward relationships with women, friends (and sometimes the beach) have inspired the lyrical content of their controlled chaos, as they've navigated the dreams of gently slumbering giants like Frank Zappa and King Crimson.

Clibber Jones Ensemble are performing second AND releasing "I Am The Avalanche".

The Clibber Jones Ensemble is an overture to a radical new form of music which has yet to be classified by the common man. The classification of music is a funny thing though, wouldn't you say? It seems the more one tries to pinpoint a specific genre, the more one realizes that all music stems from another.

is presenting:

O'Brother here at The Drunken Unicorn on Friday, July 25th, 2014.

Comfort zones are overrated—just ask the five members of the Atlanta-based rock outfit O’Brother. When they decamped from their home turf in early 2013 to take over a rented house on wintry Long Island, the idea wasn’t just to update the hard-edged sound they’d achieved on their debut full-length Garden Window with producer Mike Sapone (known for his work with Brand New, Crime in Stereo, Public Enemy and more). This time out, the band reconvened with Sapone to embark on a mind-expanding journey into strange new territory, lyrically and sonically. All it took was a little inspiration.

Jail Weddings' epic second full length is quite aptly titled. Meltdown: the flailing emotional implosion often borne of a triumvirate of frayed nerves, volatile substances and excessive external pressure is clearly evidenced in the words and music herein. But, there's also a newfound sense of musical genres and histories mixing together like molten wax where the band's signature Shangri-La's, Bad Seeds, noir-hued pop merges with hazy psychedelia, bombastic rock and even essences of bizarre Eastern European folk. It's the sound of a band that's always been at the brink of self-destruction actually growing and thriving on its own chaotic impulses.
