This weekends guest needs little introduction. Austin based producer Dubbel Dutch has, in little less than 2 years earned a huge reputation as one of the most exciting producers on the planet.

Since the Trollsta EP on Palms Out Sounds back in October 2009, shit got crazy! Further releases and remixes on Nightshifters, Top Billin, Sound Pellegrino, Enchufada, Grizzly and SSSSS to name a few, have seen the production powerhouse propelled to the front line with fans around the world digging the crazy percussion and super heavy bass.

Ahead of the european tour, this mix is a taster of what a crazy night you're in for if you're lucky enough to make one of the dates.

Episode 72 - Octa Push

We heard about a new sound they are producing and this got us excited. If the opening 2 tracks, both Octa Push remixes are anything to go by then it's a welcome change. Not a huge change either, the crazy percussion is still going on, the bass is still shaking the house down, and there is the added garage influence to round off the new path they are taking us down.

The rest of the mix takes us through many of bass music's sub genres, at only half an hour long they manage to get 16 tracks in there showcasing the duo's current sound, which also manages to switch the bpm's right up for a full on mad finale.

If this is a taster of what we can expect from the 2012 album then we cant wait to get our hands on it.

This is a mix I recorded live in front of 3000 people in a Phoenix warehouse. Unfortunately the microphone was not passed through the mixer so It wasn't recorded, so some there are some quiet areas or skips b/c I had to edit. This type of stuff happens with live recordings. I wish I could have capture all the mic hype, whistle, and amazing crowd cheering.

Here it is, Mike Charles' last set in Connecticut before moving to Florida. Recorded live 9/12/09 at Room 960 in Hartford, CT.

This is part of my final set in my DJ home town, Hartford, CT. It took a little while to warm the crowd up and there were a couple technical difficulties you may hear, but it was a great night. I definitely got a proper send of from my friends and fans in the northeast. Its got a bunch of newer prog-tech stuff with a few classic to boot.

Here it is… The new studio mix from Mike Charles. I’ve been working on, tweaking, and listening to this mix for a long time, and I feel really sad letting this one go because I didn’t want the project to end.

Breakbeats have always been sacred to me which is a major part of the reason I’ve never released an all breakbeat mix. I didn’t want undertake a project like this until I had to evolved to a point where I could be completely happy with every track, mix, and beat.

The mix has a tough shell, yet is silky smooth, which is there the name “The Velvet Turtle” comes from. Its fun, funky, and deep. There is even a great tale of redemption woven into its 73 minutes.
