Brothers Tony Mattia and Eugene Jennings of the Spurgeon Baptist Association joined us by conference call as part of our council and our new pastor/elder/church planter Tom Thiessen was wholeheartedly approved. We then celebrated with folks from Meeker,Colorado (Tom's hometown); Rangely, Colorado (Brother Thad Noyes); and from Providence Reformed, Grand Junction, Colorado (where Tom served his internship). Tom's dad, Craig Thiessen, brought the charge to the candidate followed by laying-on of hands and then a potluck where Brother Tom, in his first official act as a Southern Baptist pastor, appropriately asked the blessing for the meal. We look forward with great anticipation for the great harvest that we believe God is going to bring in Durango, Colorado.
