I’m always trying to think of new ways to make my business better, give more value for my client’s money and increase my credibility as a psychic and healer. I believe very strongly in trying to be as proficient as possible and I make sure to join professional organizations when I can. In searching the web for such organizations, I recently stumbled across a website that called into question the credibility of the psychic profession. A local psychic had spoken up in defense and unfortunately, it appeared to have opened a door to heavy scrutiny from her past clientele. In the posts, this psychic’s clients claimed that she was a fraud and that none of her predictions came to pass. She was accused of taking people’s money whether she felt she “connected” with the client or not. Critics suggested that good readers should offer clients their money back if they aren’t happy with their reading.

This got me thinking; who should decide if and when money should be refunded to the client after a reading? The idea behind this notion is to weed out fake psychics who are just out to take money from people but if we leave it to the client to determine that they aren’t happy with the reading, aren’t we opening the psychic up to being taken advantage of? What would be the criteria for the client’s determination? I’ve done readings for many clients who were unhappy with their readings simply because I wouldn’t tell them what they wanted to hear. This is in part why I won’t work for 900 psychic lines. Desperate people want to hear that everything they desire is coming to them, but if I don’t see that, I’m not doing them a service by lying. And whether the client is happy with their reading or not, they are still getting the psychic’s time. Isn’t that worth something?

I don’t tend to do predictive readings. I just don’t get that kind of information very often. Certainly if I receive it, I let the client know but my talent is more empathic in nature. I can tell how people are feeling at the present moment and what will transpire in the short-term given those feelings. I usually get information about what people are, or are not doing in their lives that contribute to, or lead people away from their goals. That said, there are lots of psychics that do specialize in predictive information and I’m often asked how this is possible and what the accuracy rates tend to be. First of all, no psychic is ever 100% accurate. It just isn’t possible. Think about it: each person is born with free will and at any moment can choose from a bevy of scenarios given a situation. I like to think of it like a tree with many branches. A person is the trunk of the tree and each time they are faced with a decision, they’ve reached a place where the branches fork. Each choice can lead off in a different direction, and many other choices can be made from that original choice. With that many possibilities, is it any wonder a psychic couldn’t be accurate all the time? The fact that she could get a sense of anything at all is wondrous.

So how do they do it? I believe that the predictive psychic tunes into one particular set of choices (branches), perhaps the most energetically prevalent one, and does her best to predict based on the strength of the energy there. This might seem a little difficult to grasp if you don’t routinely work with energy or psychic impressions, but try to think of it like an energetic “hand” pulling you down a particular path. I believe that good psychics are able to take that hand and have a look around at what’s going on while being lead down the path. Will she get the information wrong sometimes? You better believe it! Can she go down the wrong path? Sure. Can she misinterpret what she’s seeing? Definitely. And what if the client wants something so badly that the energy of that desire blocks the psychic from seeing all the other paths? Well then she will probably tell the client that they’ll get what they want, when in reality, they probably won’t.

I have a favorite psychic I like to see and on my first visit with her she took a moment to explain that she would do her very best to see what was coming for me, but if I walked out the door and witnessed a freak accident my thoughts, feelings, and energies would be forever altered and the reading as it was given, would never come to pass. That made perfect sense to me and still does. Should she have seen the accident and predicted my future based on the resultant thoughts and energies? I think not. Remember, along with all the branches I can choose from, so too does everyone else have an infinite number of branches to choose. Trying to predict a future based on someone else’s unrelated future could and would be next to impossible.

Perhaps most importantly in all this is the idea that when we know the future, we become privy to information we wouldn’t ordinarily have, and therefore, we have the power to change it, sometimes without even meaning to. If you’ve ever watched an episode of Star Trek, you know how messing with the timeline or “temporal mechanics”, is never a good idea.

This is why I prefer to do the work that I do. I don’t feel comfortable telling someone something will or will not happen for them. The more desperate of clients will hang on every word and can become greatly disillusioned if something they expect doesn’t come to pass. Worse, they’ll make life choices based on their expectancy of something. I prefer to work in the here and now. I like to shed light on feelings and thoughts of the client as they are now and as those around them are experiencing. This is much more empowering for the client because rather than waiting for something to happen, they can take the bull by the horns and make changes right away. By no means is this information any less “psychic” in nature because it is now rather than in the future. In fact, my best readings happen when my clients nod their heads through the whole thing because what I’m telling them is something they already knew but were refusing to admit to themselves. The fact that the client didn’t tell me they were feeling or experiencing what they were makes it completely intuitive on my part.

Here’s what I suggest: if you are a believer in psychic ability, go to any psychic, enjoy the experience, and separate truth from fiction using your own intuition. If you are a non-believer, but curious (and I should mention, reading non-believers is challenging because they tend to put up energetic barriers which make it difficult to get information through) go in with an open mind, but consider it entertainment.

Remember, you wouldn’t ask the magician to give you your money back if you figured out that his magic tricks are simply an illusion.

Perhaps this isn’t the forum, but there’s one more issue I’d like to address since we are talking psychics and money. Some people believe that those who do this work and are truly gifted should not be charging for their services. BS! You wouldn’t dream of not paying for your hairstylist, doctor, dentist, chiropractor, massage therapist or lawyer. Why would you not pay your psychic? Most of us have spent just as long honing our craft, taking courses and building our businesses as have the other “professionals”. Since rent, milk, gas and clothing aren’t free, we are just as entitled to be compensated for what we do as anyone else. For that matter, no one would walk into Safeway and ask for free milk, where did the idea that it is okay to ask a psychic to do free readings come from?

I am a psychic. I am a healer. I have aspired to do this work since I was a child. I have studied long, practiced hard, and I am proud, privileged and honored to do it. I am worth what you pay to have me share my gifts with you. In return for your hard-earned money, it is my promise and vow to do my very best to give you value, honesty and sacred space during every session.

When I'm driving, I just ask my angels to show me where to go and I always find my way!

Well Hello! It’s been a while since I blogged last I know, but in my defense, since our last meeting I have been hard at work putting together a mobile version of The Emerging Lightworker website, creating and continuing to work on a mobile app, and integrating a fully automated booking system into the site. Writing is much more fun, but sometimes we have to do our chores.

My last few blogs have been about deep philosophy and so as I wondered what might be lighter and more “psychic” to talk about, I had some interesting and synchronistic things happen. I thought they would make for a fun discussion, so here we go...

If you are in touch with Source, your angels and guides, or even your higher self, you really don’t need to rely on a GPS system!

I’ve never been bad with directions. Usually if I’ve been somewhere I can find it again on my own. What I do have issues with is getting somewhere I’ve never been to before. I tend to get a bit nervous driving in unfamiliar territory and I lose my nerve to make the quick lane changes necessary sometimes if you are about to miss your turn.

That being said, I must clarify that I’ve never been one of those souls who makes no preparation when going to a new destination. You know those people. You inevitably end up driving behind them when you are in a hurry and they slow down for no apparent reason (usually without signalling) as they drive down the street. Some of them suddenly pull over as they find their destination. Others realize that you are behind them and speed up momentarily, only to slow down again as they realize they’re lost. Each of these drivers is attempting to find the address they are looking for. Unfortunately some pull it off more safely than others.

My advice: ask your angels for help, and if you can’t do that, Google it.

My very first experience asking for angelic directions was during a house hunt in an unfamiliar neighborhood. My husband and I were interested in seeing a house but we’d been unable to contact the lister. If we couldn’t see the house inside, we wanted to at least find out whether it was in a desirable location. We only knew the neighborhood it was in and what the house looked like, so we drove into the general area and upon asking for help, something took over….call it a sudden “knowing” or gut-feeling. We drove through a series of lefts and rights, me navigating by my gut and my husband driving, and somehow without making even a single wrong turn, we drove right to the house! We knew it was the right one as the house matched the listing picture and the owner had set sales flyers in a box out front. My ability to talk to the angels at that time was not as clear as it is today, so you can imagine the shock and surprise of both my husband and I!

The next most memorable Angelic-destination event took place on my second visit to Hawaii to study Angel Therapy with Doreen Virtue. On this trip, my husband was able to join me and we’d rented a car. We had several days to vacation before the classes started, so on our first morning there, we wanted to get some breakfast before going out sightseeing for the day.

We both felt like indulging in Denny’s but we didn’t know if there was one in the town where we were staying. I asked my angels to help us out and instantly, in my mind, I saw Wal Mart. Not exactly Denny’s, but I felt sure that in this case, my angels where trying to show me where to go by showing me a landmark I knew. The night before, I had seen Wal Mart on the way to our hotel. I’m sure you aren’t surprised to hear that when we arrived at the Wal Mart we found that Denny’s was situated right in the same lot, invisible from the highway.

Today, we needed to visit a particular store to run an errand. Although there are several branches of this store throughout the city, it is not the kind of place that is located at every major shopping centre or mall. Upon asking for help, I saw the local Starbucks in my mind. I told my husband that I was going to look up store locations on my phone, but that I was getting that we could find the store we needed near the Starbucks. Coffee junkies such as ourselves know the locations of all the city Starbucks of course, so my husband knew exactly where to go. Neither of us was surprised to see that when we arrived, once again, my angels had steered us to the right place. I should mention too that we got there before my phone had even been able to pull up the store locations.

So how can you start using your intuitive guidance system for yourself? It’s easy! Begin by taking a nice deep breath which helps to relax you and connect you with Source. Think of what you do know about your destination. This anchors your intention about what you want, in this case, to get there safely and easily. Next, ask your Angels, Source or your higher self to get you to your destination in the easiest, safest way.

The next step is probably the most important, trust what you get. You may see a picture of something that seems unrelated in your mind or imagination. In two of my stories, I saw other places. This is because the easiest way for my guides to show me where to go was by showing me another place that I knew how to get to. Instead of pictures, you might get a feeling, as if you know in your gut where to go. You won’t know how you know, and if you sit and think about it, it will be pretty easy to convince yourself you don’t really know where to go, but trust what you feel as it first comes to you. If you feel you should go left, go left. I should emphasize that for me, the feeling really is in my gut rather than my head when I get these intuitive “feeling” directions. They feel like something pushing, a tension, or an excitement in the pit of my stomach that urges me to go a certain way. Trust those feelings and try to resist the urge to ask in your head “which way do I go?” If you do that, your ego will surely and quickly rear its ugly head and you’ll find yourself asking, “Why didn’t I take that left at Albuquerque?”

In many ways, getting driving directions isn’t a lot different than getting life guidance from your Angels or Source. The key is allowing the feelings and the pictures come to you and then acting upon them before your “thinking mind” gets a hold of them and convinces you not to trust them. I believe that our lives are simply a series of lefts and rights leading us along to the destination of our desires. Perhaps the key to getting to where we want to go rests in allowing ourselves to trust that we can use our intuition to Google the route.

Give those New Year's resolutions a boost with the right mind-set.

Boy I love Christmas! My family isn’t big on gift-giving, preferring to spend money on good food, drink and time together. This year, there was a lot of food and drink! From Lattes with the new Tassimo, to chocolates, to turkey with all the fixings…oh, and don’t forget the shortbread! We had it all. If you are like me, the holiday didn’t pass you by without a leaving few extra pounds behind (pun intended).

Thankfully, this time of year is one usually reserved for resolutions to eat right and exercise and so all going well, those extras will be long gone in a few short weeks. But I’m going to let you in on a secret that might just help you out if those resolutions go by the wayside.

Exercise and eating right are necessary, but so is the right mindset to lose weight!

I see clients all the time who come to me expressing their dismay at working out regularly and believing bread to be a mythical substance only experienced by those with runner’s metabolisms, but yet weight loss eludes them. On the other side of the coin there are those people we have all been jealous of because they seem to be able to eat whatever they choose but continue to have a sexy figure. How do they do it? The answer is that it’s all in the belief systems of the mind.

Our subconscious mind is the computer software that controls the hardware of our body. From breathing, to our heartbeat, to our metabolism, our subconscious mind follows its programming and creates the body you inhabit. If the programming dictates that you hold on to weight, that’s what the body does. If the program calls for a fast metabolism, that’s what you’ll have. So even if you exercise and eat well, the programming of the subconscious can be working either for, or against your efforts. Furthermore, your subconscious mind will in many cases, even push you to make poor conscious choices just to satisfy the needs of its programming, leading to cravings, binges and guilt.

There are lots of methods for this programming to be put into place and if the theory behind it interests you, read my blog posts entitled “Create the Life You Want.” If you are just interested in how to quickly make change for yourself, read on.

If your weight is not what you’d like it to be, either too much or too little, at its deepest level, the programming of your subconscious mind is likely to be seeking more love for itself. It is inherent in humans to seek love, acceptance and approval by nature and just about all our programming comes from this need taking shape in different ways. For some, holding on to weight is a way to protect one’s self from hurt. For others, not being able to gain weight is a way to keep others accepting them. The trick to changing the programming is to discover what’s behind your particular need, and the best way I’ve found to do that on one’s own is to do mirror work.

The following is a powerful exercise designed to find what’s driving your subconscious mind.

Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down where you won’t be disturbed. Take a few deep, slow breaths and relax your body as much as possible. It isn’t important that you completely clear your mind for this exercise, but if you have a lot of thoughts coming to you about your day, or what to have for dinner, or which bills you need to pay, tell yourself that these thoughts are all very important and that they will be waiting patiently for you to attend to once you’ve finished this exercise.

In your mind, imagine, visualize or pretend that you are standing in front of a 360° mirror, preferably without any clothes on. If you don’t actually “see” yourself there, that’s fine, just pretend or imagine what it would “feel” like to be standing there. Slowly, in great detail, take a look at every inch of yourself. As you do this, allow any thoughts to come up about what you are seeing. Don’t edit those thoughts, especially if they are less than complimentary, just listen to what comes to you. Take as much as ten minutes to complete this part of the exercise.

Now still imagining yourself in front of the mirror, say to yourself, “I love you” and note your reaction. Was it difficult to say? Did you believe it? Did it bring up emotions, and if so what where they and why?

Take a deep breath and allow that image to fade from your mind.

Once again, imagine yourself in front of the 360° mirror, but this time, imagine yourself at your goal weight and fully clothed in the kind of clothing you’d love to wear. This time, do your best to feel what it would be like if you were at this weight. Imagine what your energy level would be like. Would you feel younger? Are there activities that you’d be more likely to engage in if you looked this way? Would you be more confident? How would your life change? What would people say about you? Would you be happier? Try to feel the experience of being your goal weight. Notice how great it feels. Spend up to fifteen minutes doing this part of the exercise.

Still imagining yourself in front of the mirror, ask yourself, “what in my subconscious mind is stopping me or blocking me from looking and feeling this way?” Pay close attention to any thoughts, words, pictures or feelings that come to you in response to this question. This is your subconscious programming and likely, the answer will be surprising to you.

When you are ready, breathe deeply and wiggling fingers and toes, bring your awareness back to your surroundings.

You now have the key to thinking yourself thin. The subconscious programming that was keeping you away from your goal weight has now been revealed. Sometimes, a simple understanding of this programming is all that it takes for the conscious mind to dispel the (sometimes flawed) programming of the subconscious and new healthier programming immediately takes its place. Other times, a little work may be necessary.

We now understand that the subconscious mind learns via emotion and repetition and so using these tools is the best way to begin reprogramming it. It is as simple as imagining a scenario in your mind, one with emotional attachment for you, and repeating that scenario often. The idea is to create your scenario as a complete opposite of the belief you uncovered about why you are not at your goal weight and in doing so, you are telling the subconscious what you actually want it to do.

For example, perhaps you learned that your subconscious mind keeps you heavy as a way to protect you from hurt feelings, particularly in your romantic life. Perhaps if you are heavy, the promise of finding a romantic partner is decreased, and therefore, the likelihood of being hurt by a partner is also decreased. The way to go about reprogramming the subconscious in a case like this would be to spend time each day, as often as possible, imagining yourself at your goal weight and engaged in a wonderful and loving relationship. In order for this to be most effective, you must try to imagine this using as many senses and feelings as possible. Imagine how it would feel to be hugged and kissed by a loving partner. Listen to the loving words they say to you, and most importantly, try to feel the emotion of loving and being loved.

The more often and in greater detail the scenario is imagined, the faster the subconscious mind catches on that “this is the way it is supposed to be” and begins to create that in your life. The old programming fades with the repetition of the new programming and the result is that you reach your goal weight faster and easier than you ever thought possible, with or without your eating and exercise plan!

So, although I encourage you to stick to the pilates and knock off the Bailey’s, make sure your subconscious mind is also on board with your New Year’s resolutions and you’ll have much greater success.

Happy New Year!

A Holiday message from The Emerging Lightworker

As the year comes to an end, I find myself increasingly looking ahead to the fateful year 2012. Though many people have chosen to believe that somehow this year signals some kind of end, I choose instead to believe that it will signal a beautiful new beginning. As we move toward this time, I have seen over and over, evidence that our world, our people, our souls, are opening to the beautiful awareness that we are so much more than we have previously thought. It is my hope that this year will bring us to a new enlightenment, a stepping into of our real power and an end only to those struggles that no longer make sense, nor serve us. I choose to move into 2012 with a sense of optimism and excitement.

And so, as this amazing year comes to an end, I felt guided to share with you a holiday message from my guides.

Beautiful souls, we wish to impart upon you the most joyous of blessings for the coming holiday season. May all your festivities be filled with laughter and sparkle. And as you embark on this most sacred of New Years we wish that you continue to bring joy and light into all that you do.

The coming year will be filled with mystery, and although the current path does not appear to be lightening just yet, we see that each and every one of you will have a greater sense of insight than you have to this point. This increased clarity will bring with it a sense of light, and although there will be much to learn from this year, it will not go without a sense of fun, play, and joy.

Walk fearlessly for the light is coming. Concentrate on gratitude, for when you are grateful, you attract more to be grateful for. Love others, but love yourself first for you are your greatest love, your greatest gift, your greatest hope, your greatest inspiration. See the beauty in all things and remember the wonder that which all things were created.

The coming year will be one of great change for each of you for it will contain the energy required for you to move forward with the fruition of your dreams. The sense of urgency you feel will not be due to any impending end, but instead, the impending new beginning, and a sense of desire to join this fresh new movement and momentum.

Beautiful ones, always remember that each of you is a gift to this universe, no less or more important than any other part of it, and so we bestow upon you all the love of the universe and we say we are so thankful that you are here.

Have joyous and magical holiday season.

I would like to thank each and every one of you for making The Emerging Lightworker so successful this year. It is my hope always that as we continue our journey together, that we can spread some magic into each other’s lives. It is with my deepest gratitude that I thank you for what you have taught me, and for opening your heart to the messages I feel inspired to share.

I wish you a beautiful and blessed holiday!

See you in 2012!

How to use a magical box to alleviate your worries and fears.

There’s something about letting a problem go, releasing it from your psyche, and trusting in the universe. This isn’t the easiest thing to do, but without fail, if you can bring yourself to do it, the struggle against the fear stops, and what you want often shows up in the most miraculous ways.

Why is this? And how can we find a way to release what troubles us in a way that doesn’t ignore the importance of it, but simply leaves it in the universe’s capable hands? My answer is a Magic Box.

Magic Boxes probably aren’t a new idea. Doreen Virtue has been teaching us about the idea of a God Box for years. I set my own Magic Box up some time ago and I’ve been using it successfully ever since. The idea behind it is that you write a letter or short note to God, your angels, the universe, whoever you feel fit to trust in, about your worries and fears. Once written, you put the note in the box for safekeeping, or supposedly so that whoever you wrote it to can take care of the problem. It seems almost too simple to work…but it does!

As I said, I’ve been using my magical box, a lovely wooden, mystical box, originally bought to house my crystal collection, but quickly too small for that job, and if I steal myself to look at past notes, every single worry, desire and problem I’ve dropped into the box has now righted itself, in many cases, better than I’d originally thought could ever be possible.

I suppose with all the talk I do about the Law of Attraction, you could argue why this should work when it’s possible that there might not even be a God, or angels in the conventional sense. My last blog entry seemed to point to our Divine friends being simply a collection of mass consciousness, but I don’t think it really matters here. You see, the objective of the Magic Box is to get you to “let go, and let God,” meaning, to allow your worries to rest in God’s capable hands. In terms of the Law of Attraction, when we worry about something, we naturally give our attention to it, and therefore, we attract more of whatever it is we are worrying about. Allowing our fears to rest with the universe or God allows us to stop worrying about it, and instead, open ourselves up to the Divine Flow, the Source energy that always brings us what we ask for. When we concentrate on feeling relief, being open, feeling confident that the answer will come to us, that is precisely what we attract.

If you can find a way to let go of worry, to trust that the answers will present themselves, that really is what will happen, whether it comes from an almighty God, your angelic team of helpers, or your heartfelt attraction.

I encourage you to try this practice. It may seem a little artificial at first, but after it works a few times, you’ll quickly lose doubt. What I will caution however, is the importance of putting only your worries in the box. Be certain that if you put your request for a shiny new sports car in the box, not only will you have a more difficult time believing it its manifestation powers, but you’ll be constantly on the lookout “for proof that it works.” This alone can thwart all your efforts because any doubt attracts more doubt.

If you are looking to “prove” something you are actually concentrating on doubt.

If you are worried sick about something, and you have nothing to lose by trying this, it works so much better. Chances are, there will be no certainty in it working so once you put that worry into the box, you’ll forget about it (the note that is, not the worry itself). Forgetting about proving the Magic Box effective opens it up to it working. Likely, since it was a last resort, you’ll feel like it can’t hurt, which is a much more positive thought than the desperate “I hope it works.”

Now you wait and trust that whatever you need as an answer to this problem is coming to you. You needn’t do anything else because it’s now out of your hands and in the very creative, and very capable hands of the universe. You’ll probably feel a sense of relief even if you have trouble believing in any of this. Let’s face it, you’ve taken a proactive step in solving the problem you are worrying about. Worry mostly comes when we feel just a little powerless over what’s happening or about to happen to us, and if we take even a small step toward the problem, it is as if we are beating it back with a stick.

One more caution. Do your best not to look back over your worries, at least for several weeks, or even better, months. We can’t rush these things, and sometimes it can take just a little time for things to right themselves. If you go back too soon and see that what you were worried about is still an issue, it can turn your manifestation progress right back around. Doubt begets doubt. On the other hand, waiting several months and then seeing the amazing things that have transpired will reinforce your belief, your trust, and therefore, the speed and ease of manifestations from the magical box in the future.

What I’m suggesting here is hardly the paradigm-shifting information I’ve been bombarding you with of late, but rather, a fun and gentle approach to helping you shift your focus from worry to trust. Find yourself a shoe box or an ornate treasure chest and imbue it with your love and intention that this be the vessel to help you co-create with the Universe and then allow it to relieve you of your burdens.
