Lastly, track 9 'Once Upon a Time...' is actually 'Pass the Time'. Little boo-boo during production I guess (This error has since been corrected).

Harry James Angus - News - It's a boy!

Bit of a late update - sorry for that by the way, but we honestly had no idea.

At tonight's solo double act with Roscoe, we were informed by Harry himself that he is now the proud father of a baby boy.
He didn't give a name, and meeting with him after the set - we forgot to bring it up.

Looking through the booklet of the physical "Little Stories" CD, we discovered on the last page, along with the 'special thanks', a message to his 'future' son for inspiring him to finish the album before July 20th (presumably little Angus-Lubitz' due date at the time).

So, congratulations to both Harry and Emily. Hopefully when the Empire boys all settle down - Harry's son, Will's son (Ben), Ollie's daughter (Edith) and any other future kids can form a band of their own?...

As of September 2nd, Jackson Jackson's new single 'Dave' is available through iTunes, at $4.99 AUD, here. According to JJ's Facebook page, it's physical also - but as of yet, we have no details on that.

The single comes with two b-sides - 'Sacrifice' and 'Simplify My Life, Amplify My Mind' and runs at a total of 11:43 minutes.

This is their first release in three years and a deposit on what should be an amazing third album.

This one really slipped under our radar, so sorry for the late details.

That's right!, HJA's got himself a YouTube channel as of August 31st and uploaded his first video today.

Black Jack Carson - Biography

Black Jack Carson is a spoof/joke country music artist from 'Houston, Texas" - created by a member of The Cat Empire, theorised to be either Ryan, Ross or Will (though listening for myself, I'd say it's the same vocalist as that of Sodomy County's 'Rhymes with Home').

Much like Sodomy County, songs were uploaded and made available for listening through his MySpace page in 2008. All songs are still currently available for streaming, but not for download.

Little is known about the exact identity of 'Black Jack Carson', but included on his profile is a this faux bio:

Before the late great Johnny Cash passed on, he said that there was one man who was keeping his dream alive. That man is Black Jack Carson. In JCs own words: "Black Jack Carson has a voice of pure gold and tells stories that everybody can relate to".

Black Jack Carson was born the seventh son of a seventh son and was raised on the prairies of Kansas where his gun slinging ways and his musical prowess brought him both infamy and fame in equal measure.

After serving his time in the jailhouses of Utah, Texas, Oklahoma and Nebraska, Black Jack Carson has recently recorded his debut album "I've Never Killed a Man Who Didn't Deserve To Die".

Black Jack Carson is the first musician to be nominated for a Grammy Award while being on remand for attempted murder.

Sodomy County - Biography

Sodomy County is a spoof/joke country music band created by three members of The Cat Empire, writing and recording songs about the cities they visit whilst on tour around the world.

The 'band' started with The Cat Empire's worldwide tour in the northern summer of 2006, and was then resurrected for the North American fall tour. These songs were then put on their MySpace page for download.

The band's MySpace bio simply says "Sodomy will ride again. Soon. Stay tuned.", with their influences listed as "Buck Claytooth, Clarence DaFunk, Jef Deth, Bob Seger, Captain Beefheart" and 'sounds like' "NOTHING like Children of Suction, hopefully. They suck."

As of September 3rd, 2011 - songs are no longer available for download.

Jackson Jackson - News - Third album details

Last piece of news for today guys - well not really news, more-so details.

Jackson Jackson tomorrow night will be playing their first gig since April 2010 in a month-long stretch of weekly Friday night shows at The Evelyn Hotel (Fitzroy, Melbourne VIC) - September 2, 9, 16 and 23 (the 23rd, Myself and Mr. S will try and be in attendance for).

What little details we have on the band's follow up album to 'Tools for Survival' is that firstly - there will be one and secondly, recording started way back in 2009 and was shelved for a while (possibly due to Harry's solo projects and The Cat Empire's latest album 'Cinema'), but picked up again mid-2011 according to Ryan Monro who plays bass/guitar for the band (yes, a busy bee this man is). Speaking with him last night, he informed us there's still no news on any release date or what not, but assured us recording and production is still happening every now and then, so who knows - could be in a few months or another year (hoping not, of course).

Felix Riebl - News - New album in the works

Some more great news for y'all.

It appears today begins the first day of producing Felix's new album. Yes, already!

With the same band and the same Cat Empire-favourite recording studio as 'Into the Rain' it appears the new album will give us a chance to hear some of the non-album tracks from his recent 'Into the Rain' tour - such as Gloria and perhaps 'Dreamers', which Ryan informed us last night at The Basement, Felix had already recorded "a few years ago").

Harry James Angus - News - OFFICIAL debut solo album and 'mini-tour'!

That's right. Four years after Harry James Angus decided to take a walk on the solo/acoustic side of performing - it has been announced (via HJA Facebook, Timber and Steel) that his first OFFICIAL debut solo album will be released digitally on September 16, 2011 and on CD October 10th, 2011.

The album will be called 'Little Stories' and is assumed that songs previously heard on some of his 'Live at the Famous Spiegeltent' live recordings, will be included - but remains to be seen.

An accompanying 'mini-tour' with Roscoe James Irwin (who has also just released a the new solo album 'The Hunting Road') will be at the following venues:

- Thursday, 8th September – The Toff in Town, Melbourne, VIC
- Saturday, 17th September – The Vanguard, Sydney NSW
- Sunday, 25th September – Northcote Social Club, Melbourne, VIC

Myself and Mr. S will be attending The Vanguard show - a great little New Orleans-esque venue where just last month, Roscoe featured his album launch.

EDIT (01.09.11):
Well The Genie being the band they are, the songs were mostly improvised, abrupt and at the majority of the time - left the audience thinking "what the fuck is this?". A little disappointing that more than half of the crowd left halfway through (probably assuming they would be an alternative version of The Cat Empire), but for the ones who stayed, they were treated to tracks no shorter than 15 minutes, Ollie leaping violently between keyboard and grand piano as well as his intense facial expressions and key-tar solos, Ryan glass-sliding the bass and funkin' shit up and of course the amazing skill of Will keeping the boys' antics in-time.

It was featured in the iTunes store on April 29th, 2011 - but was only recently made available to buy.

As of August 26, 2011 - it is $12.99 AUD, or $3.99 for each individual video.
