type="html">

In the newest Interview Anthony Kiedis and
 Flea talk to David Fricke:

'I was afraid," Flea, the bass guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers,
confesses over the roar of a tour-bus engine. "I couldn't imagine going out
with someone else. It seemed done."

Flea explains the way he and Frusciante wrote songs:
"John would come in with an idea, bam, and I'd pick it up. Or I'd have an
idea and, boom, he'd play the right thing. Done." Flea also describes their
friendship variously as "pleasant", "tense", "brotherly" and "combative."

It's like his band is "missing a family member", he says.

The drummer admits he hoped
Frusciante would change his mind, "which he's done before. OK, he's doing
other things, but one day, I'm gonna get that call: 'Hey, it's John, you
wanna jam?'" Smith does an affectionate impression of Frusciante's choppy,
 whispering voice. "Never happened."

Klinghoffer says excitedly. "Flea and John
had a special relationship -- I saw it for years. That Flea and Chad and
Anthony could open up and let someone else in, someone new, is amazing to
 me."

Over a steak dinner and a glass of wine at a hotel in Big Sur, Klinghoffer --
an amiable, soft-spoken guy in a tall, wiry frame -- recalls a recent phone
conversation with Frusciante. The two met when Klinghoffer was in his teens,
playing with their own fraternal intensity on Frusciante's solo records and
other projects. "I was talking to him about playing with these guys,"
Klinghoffer says. "He said, 'There's something amazing about getting up in
the morning and playing something amazing with your friends.'

Frusciante could not be reached for comment. "I think he just wants to be free
to do what he wants," Flea suggests, "without the commerce involved with
 being in a big band."

Bob Forrest points out a significant difference between the two guitarists:
"John exploded to power and money so quickly" when he joined the Chili
Peppers. "He never had Josh's experience of playing with other musicians."

John Frusciante, the virtuoso musician and songwriter who gave so much
to our band. Without him, we would not be going to the hall of fame. He
wrote countless great things with us, played an infinite amount of
stunning things, and taught us how to be a great band. He helped lift us
to a much higher level, he is the greatest. We connected deeply for
many years, and he left our band with many gifts"

In a recent interview Flea have admitted:

When asked whether he found Frusciante’s departure made any difference
to the group, Flea replied “A lot! John and I had established such a
language together – if I started playing bass with John, he'd make
awesome grooves that we didn't need to talk about or think about.

“With Josh, we'd start playing something and I'd be like, 'OK, when is
he going to do that magic thing where we create the cosmic perfect
groove?' and he just wouldn't do it. But then I realized that I was
sitting there waiting for something because it's what I was used to, and
that I need to let Josh be Josh.”

Warning: PERSONAL OPINION over I'm with you

Since has passed some days and I had the opportunity of listen the album a couple of times, now I can give my feedback about it.

#01 - The album is greater than I would imagine.

#02 - I miss the layers of music - I really miss 'em (not by the complexity, but for the art). Watch Factory of Faith, that's ok, good music, very nude style and for me that's the problem. This music could have more layers of sound and voices. I dunno, all this are just my dumb opinion.

I finish it with Kiedis afirmation: "there is no question – this is a beginning"

Warning: PERSONAL OPINION

Stadium Arcadium was a big record for the band and then John Frusciante kind of left in its wake. What were you thinking?
Anthony Kiedis: Well, for one thing it wasn’t a “kind of”
leaves—it was a very definitive leave. I guess it depends on who you ask
as to what the next step would be. For me it seemed like an appropriate
change—like that was really the only thing that could have happened. I
don’t think that we could’ve continued with John just because it was
done. And I think we all kind of knew that in our heart of hearts and I
kind of applaud him for making that move. It never crossed my mind to do
anything other than continue on but I think Flea and Chad probably had
their own thoughts and emotions about it.

...

We spoke back during the Californication album and John
Frusciante described your approach to writing as dealing with colors.
Did that still hold true on the I’m With You record?
Kiedis: Yeah, I think he was probably just finding a way
to explain that I kind go more from intuition and feeling than from a
specific musical education or knowledge of how music works on a
mathematical level or something like this. More just by ear and waves of
color and inspiration from god knows where.

....

There’s a lot of room for you as a guitar player to bring out your ideas and experiment?
Klinghoffer: The comparison between John and I that I’ve
read is like me being more textural than him. To me, with Flea and Chad
holding down so much weight, I don’t see how you couldn’t play like I
play and I don’t see how you couldn’t play like John plays. There is so
much room for one to be themselves, which I think is what this band is
about. For Anthony and all of us—everyone does what they do personally
and thoughtfully.

....

Certainly a lot of bands losing a guitar player could not survive that change.
Kiedis: Everybody contributes equally mentality so when we
lose somebody as important as John—who’s such a creative force in the
universe—it wasn’t a killer because there’s still three other people
that are creative forces that have been contributing equally from day
one and from note one. So it’s not like any single individual is
responsible for writing or carrying the weight of the band. We share it.

.....

And your vocals take on these different characteristics where they don’t even sound like Anthony Kiedis.
Kiedis: There’s a lot of different vocal tones in that
song—it has three or four very distinctive vocal flavors but they all
feel like me to me. I like that Frank Zappa gets a shout out in the
lyrics.
Is that right?
Kiedis: Well, “the mothers of invention are the best.” John was deep into Frank Zappa.
Klinghoffer: Oh, really?
Kiedis: It’s weird, right?
Klinghoffer: I wouldn’t have thought.
Kiedis: Yeah, I wouldn’t have thought.

“When we were doing our Greatest Hits record in 2003, Warner Brothers
wanted a couple extra songs. So we went in to write a couple during the
next break on the tour we were on at the time, and we recorded like
sixteen songs. They weren’t all great, but twelve of them were probably
good.

So we put the Greatest Hits album out and toured a little bit more,
and then we were going to come back and write some more songs, and I was
like, “Let’s just write another ten, take maybe seven out of that, add
it to the others we’d previously done, and we’ll have a record.”

I remember John Frusciante was like, “Hmmm… that was like nine months
ago; I’m not really doing the arpeggiated thing anymore. I’m playing
differently, I’m listening to different stuff, so I’m going to write
different music. So there’s an album that we did that I don’t know if anyone’s ever going to hear.
But we’re pretty true to that idea of recording what we’re into at the
time. And that’s what’s exciting to me- showing up at practice and
wondering, What’s going on today? ”

The invisible movement it's the best site on earth about John Frusciante (IMHO) and then every 14 months, Invisible Movement needs your help to cover its hosting costs. It's been so since 2006 - the contributors, friends of the site & I provide the content, news, archived information et cetera and the visitors and fans provide the buck. So, I'm asking you to spare a dime for another 14 trouble-free months of this website. So if you can, do it! This site is great and helps a lot to share John Frusciant art's.
Five tracks have been posted to the project's Bandcamp website so far.

As it was the case with the previous release, 2010's Man Meat John is featured on all tracks as the guitarist, but this time it appears that he did not take part in composing and production (he co-wrote Tigress Ritual with Duran Duran's John Taylor for the previous release) and it is still not clear if he's a band member, session musician for the studio tracks or something else.

However, the only thing that truly matters here is NEW MUSIC. So, enjoy!

The other day, on the eve of the release of the comeback album I'm With You which was performed in its entiety and aired live in cinemas across the world and on a , the Red Hot Chili Peppers sat down with Fuse for a quick sneak-preview series of interviews. In the second video clip, Anthony Kiedis and Flea touch the subject of John and his departure from the band and give him a little more praise.

Anthony Kiedis: We’re a band made up of four people; we all contribute a lot, so when John left, I didn’t feel like it was that kind of—it was a heavy change, but it didn’t seem like a devastating change, it just seemed like a heavy change.

Interviewer: So, unlike them, it never occurred to you that it might be it?

Anthony Kiedis: Well, it occurred to me that they might not want to carry on, but I felt like it was an opportunity being created for everybody: an opportunity for John to go do what he wanted to do and an opportunity for us to do something different and fresh, and with somebody that we could be a little more functional in this era with.
Flea: On that, just to—we’d really like to express my, and, I guess, our, gratitude for John. He gave us so much—he gave us infinite and enormous creative contributions as a songwriter, as a musician, to everything that we were over the last fifteen years with him and really, he’s just the greatest, and so grateful for us and we’re so lucky to have had the opportunity to be with him together doing what we did.
What feels different and what feels better?

Oh, it's all different, obviously. Let me just say that we love John Frusciante and we're so grateful to what he has given us in this band. He's written some of the best parts of our biggest songs and he's just a great, great musician. Probably one of the best musicians I've ever played with. We're all very grateful for what he gave to the band.

But, you know, he just wanted to move on. He wanted to do his own thing. And there's no animosity. It's all good. So having Josh Klinghoffer come in, someone that we knew that was already in the family so to speak -- which is such an important part of being in our group because this really is like a family -- to give his heart and open himself up to us, and us being able to embrace him ... He's such a great musician. He's so well rounded. He plays many instruments and writes great. We're just so lucky to find someone right in our backyard.

It has to be different. And that's something that helped us grow and change, having the voice that he brings with his musicality to our group. He changed our sound a lot. But also, everybody else changed, too. And that's just keeping things fresh. That's a real positive thing for us because as artists we always want to change and grow and Josh really helped us do that.

I mean, it'd be cool to collaborate with whatever Swedish people made that Britney Spears record [Miike Snow], that or a hip-hop producer. John Fogerty or Meredith Monk would probably be my people that I would like to try and do something with. And John Frusciante would be pretty sweet as well.

If you would like to read the entire article, you can do it here.

Played them for a long time and just wanted to play guitar.

How old were you when you finally did start on guitar?

Fifteen. I didn’t start till later on. I dropped out of high school and started playing guitar.

Who really mattered to you when you started playing?

Naturally, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page kind of playing on the one hand. And then Johnny Marr, Robert Smith and people like that. John Frusicante is one of my favorites. I just figured out anything and everything I could. Punk, Sex Pistols, Germs. When I was younger, I went back to that stuff. I was always more of a chordal, textural kind of textury player.

How and when did you first meet John Frusciante?

I met him in January of '97. He and Flea were playing a gig with Thelonius Monster. And my best friend’s sister was dating Bob Forrest. So I went along to the show. That’s how I first met Flea and John. I think I offered my drumming to them. John and I didn’t become friends until a couple of years later. He had already rejoined the Red Hot Chili Peppers by then. I was making a record with the Bicycle Thief and John came and did a solo on the record. We started hanging out. I’d go over his house and listen to records. So we started becoming friends around 1999.

What’s the single most important thing you learned about any aspect of the guitar from John?

I consider him someone who plays from the deepest part of who he is as a human being and whatever he’s experiencing at that specific point in time, whether it’s playing a solo, a rhythm part, a sonic texture or playing any instrument. That’s something I’ve picked up from him, and I’ve been privileged to do with him. Just as a person and a friend, he’s been an incredible influence on me.

A lot of your work in the past has been avant garde, underground kind of stuff. What’s it like to step into a band like the Chili Peppers, which is much more in the mainstream?

I’ve spent the last decade touring with artists like Beck and PJ Harvey. So I’m no stranger to a bigger audience. The big change is having it be a band that I’m considered a member of. And yet it feels really natural. There was a period when I was touring with people and I kind of swore off that because I needed to focus on my own writing and my own band, which I hadn’t put together yet. But I finally did, right before playing with the Chili Peppers. Then the Chili Peppers asked me to go on tour with them, and I said, “God, you can’t say no to that.” And then it turned out I had an offer to be in the band.

Your own band is named Dot Hacker?

Yeah. A name no one likes. It’s our drummer’s grandmother’s name: Dorothy Hacker, or Dot Hacker.

It sounds like a computer thing ...

Totally, but not really. We just picked that and it stuck. There’s a couple of songs of ours online. A whole record will come out, hopefully, soon.

How did songwriting work for the new Chili Peppers album? Were there a lot of pre-formed ideas you all brought in? Or did it grow more out of jamming? What was the ratio of those two things?

There was a very even ratio of those two things — a lot of very collaborative work. “I have a part. Here’s the chorus, you do the verse.” A lot of equal jamming as well. I remember that the bridge for “Monarchy of Roses” just came out of Chad going nuts on the drums and us keeping up. Then Flea told me, “I think you should come up with an outro right now.” And the outro on you hear on the record is the first thing I came up with.

You’ve got a great chordal sensibility. It’s sort of jazzy. Is that a kind of music that you’re really into?

I love jazz. I’ve always been into chords, structuring chords. There’s nothing better than a simple chord progression that’s hard to do. I try to make it somewhat off the wall.

What was it like recording I’m With You at East West in Hollywood?

Great. It’s the old Ocean Way Studio where a lot of great records were made. But now it’s owned by East West, which is a sample library company. They have a functioning office. People were trying to conduct business while Flea and I were banging on the piano.

Was making the album your first encounter with [producer] Rick Rubin?

Yes — I mean professionally. I’d met him before. Something that was a little strange for me was obviously that all these guys had a long working relationship with him, whereas I hadn’t. But they couldn’t have been any more welcoming.

You’re quite a bit younger than the other guys in the band. How does the age difference play out?

It’s not something we think about, really. But yeah, I grew up and was shaped musically by listening to them and to the people they listened to and who inspired them to get started. And I still learn tons from them. I always get embarrassed. They’ll say, “You mean you never heard Defunkt?” And I have to say no — outside of reading about a band like that in magazine like we’re talking for now.

What kind of preparations are you making to tour with the Chili Peppers for this new album?

Really just playing guitar as much as possible. Learning their amazing and immense back catalog. I told myself for this whole year and a half that I’ve been in the band that I should learn a song a day. Because there’s so much. As we’re getting the live thing going, I have to cover a lot of John’s soloing. And he’s such a dexterous, amazing guitar player in that way. I know it will take me a minute to find the middle ground between doing what I’m comfortable doing and not feeling like there’s something missing that’s supposed to be there.

In the past, I’ve really concentrated on writing chord progressions songs and lyrics rather than my chops as a guitar player. I haven’t focused on that in a long time. But playing in this band has made me do it again. It’s been fun getting out the Zeppelin and Hendrix — stuff that’s a little more textrous. Soloing is not something that comes naturally to me. Never did. I’m very much more sound-oriented. Step on a pedal and get something cool.

Taken from a best-selling Italian novel that achieved cult status amongst the country's youth, Jack Frusciante Left the Band (the title name refers to an early member of the American alternative rock band The Red Hot Chili Peppers who left after the group became successful) follows the typically tumultuous first-love of a young college boy attending university in Bologna.
This time was the the Rolling Stones with the title: The Red Hot Chili Peppers on Their First Album Without John Frusciante the fallacy is evident, that's not the first album without Frusciante, even that they have tried to explain the first album in 15 (what's it's not true actually I guess it's 13 years). Anyway the John Frusciante parts.

"I think he just wants to be free to do what he wants," says Flea.

"Without the commerce involved with being in a big band." Drummer Chad Smith recently bumped into Frusciante at a Soundgarden show. "He looked good and happy," says the drummer.

Clearly RHCP feel no bad blood toward Frusciante...

Despite his previous absence, the Chili Peppers worry how their tunes will fair without the talented Frusciante working beside them.

“It was different this time. We’d made three records with him and had a lot of success and John’s writing and creative input was such a big part of that. I thought we’d never do it without John – it would be stupid to try. But when he left, I was presented with this new reality of what it was and it made me realize we had to go on and could go on,” explained Flea.

They create a entire article and puts the title with something to call attention. Worst than that, sometimes the Press just show parts of interview doing people makes wrong assumptions, anyway the Frusciante departure (at least to me) was not a relief. Deeply I believe John Frusciante just wants to live his life and does his songs that's it.

"The time John revealed his plans to move on was something everyone had sensed and was emotionally prepared for. You can't carry someone who doesn't want to be there – not that he was kicking and screaming. He played his ass off till the last note so his departure was a relief, but a positive relief."
