We can’t believe it but, yes, [KONTROL] is celebrating its 4th anniversary this Saturday (June 6, 2009)! And to celebrate this milestone, [KONTROL] and The Endup is bringing you from Jena, Germany, Wighnomy Brothers (Freude am Tanzen | Musik Krause).

Robag Wruhme and Monkey Maffia, known collectively as The Wighnomy Brothers, are best friends, label owners, production partners, and one of planet Earth’s most entertaining and sought-after DJ teams. Known for their remix-heavy, vodka-soaked extended sets, the delightful duo from Jena, Germany have traveled the globe far and wide rocking parties and festivals, but thanks to their distaste for a certain ex-President of ours, they have refused to play the US. Until now. We simply adore these guys and without question, they have held a slot near the top of our “most wanted” list since we first sought out on this colorful voyage. Thus, it is with great pride and pleasure that [KONTROL] celebrates four years of bringing forward-thinking techno and house to San Francisco with a four hour set by the inimitable, incomparable, and absolutely unmissable Wighnomy Brothers in their exclusive West Coast debut.

Eddie is resident at NYC’s Alegria at Crobar as well as at the Roxy.

We are so excited to have Eddie here at The Endup’s Ghettodisco for the first time. Please join us tomorrow (June 5, 2009) for an extended afterhours set by Eddie along with our own DJ Hawthorne and Adrian.

International DJ/Producer Oren Nizri is no stranger to the American club music scene. When not traveling, the Israeli spinmaster can almost be described as omnipresence, amplying his vivacious beats in the most successful venues in Florida and around the country.

Developed in Israel and polished in Europe, the talented spinmaster began his professional career in Tel Aviv in 1998. As the resident DJ of the “Voice of Tel Aviv,” the city’s hottest radio station, he hosted his own highly rated bi-weekly program “In My House.” For several years, Oren spun in some of the most renowned nightclubs and music festivals in Israel and Europe, honing his talents with the latest music trends, refining his skills and techniques and making loyal followers among the large and diverse European market. The DJ phenomenon moved to South Florida in early 2003 when he realized that his signature style of music, a blend of soulful, deep and European funky house that progresses into big room and high energy tracks with sexy and uplifting vocals was perfectly suited for the American club scene.

Since then - under the representation of Give Me A Beat Productions - Oren has played his energetic sounds in every major dance venue in Florida and major national events as well.

We are so excited to introduce Oren to San Francisco at Shangri-La on May 23, 2009. Come celebrate Memorial Day Weekend with us and welcome Oren to our fabulous city.

Jason Hodges (hudd traxx, soul control, sampled, aroma, apt) will be bringin his hard-hitting beats and deep grooves all the way from Toronto to the Endup’s longest running Sunday Sessions party, Sunday Mass. With Jason’s signature sound, and those solid house sets the SM resident DJs have become known for, you can be confident it’s time again to lace up your dancing shoes and hit the dancefloor at SF’s most legendary club.

Canadian born Jason Hurtubise, arrived to the house music scene in 1991, taking on Toronto’s underground party scene he developed his DJing skills on the decks with the likes of New York - New Jersey sounds. Todd Terry, Kenny Dope + Lil Louie Vega (Maw) Zack Tomz, and Todd Edwards are a few of Hodges’ favorite producers. Drawn to the sounds of drum machines, Hodges began renting gear from local music stores until finally deciding on a E-MU SP 1200, a piece commonly used by Hip Hop producers since it’s arrival in 1987. Hard-hitting beats with deep grooves quickly became the signature sound for Hodges – whether in the studio, on the dance floors; in Toronto’s rapidly growing underground scene, and across Canada, Hodges was growing and coming into his own.

Jason began releasing records with various Toronto labels getting his feet wet remixing and co-producing tracks with some of Canada’s talents. After many years of training and development, Hodges returned to the scene with a new energy and a new plan. As a part of the All World Entertainment (now apt Entertainment) team of house DJs and producers, Hodges teamed up on co-productions and remix work for several notable and established artists.

Floodgates opened for world travel and new music projects. Jason continued to build his profile; remixing artists like Freaks on MMF, Kaskade on OM, Sneak’s “Fix my Sink” on Magnetic, Cozy Creatures Oomph, Bosh, an EP for Swirl People on Aroma Records (Belgium), EP for Oomph Records (USA), EP for OAE Records (USA), Amenti Music, with many of his productions featured on several House of OM CD Series’ (Carter & Farina LIVE, DJ Sneak, Fred Everything) as well as Mark Farina AND Derrick Carter’s ‘Sessions’ for Ministry of Sound UK, respectively – all promising a steady and bright future for Canada’s best-kept secret.

Recent years have sent Jason across the globe, from Brazil to Belgium to Bulgaria, all the UK majors and exclusive Ministry of Sound events, Istanbul, Turkey, the Netherlands and over to Asia and Australia with the beautiful continent South Africa on the horizon. For those who know, the name Jason Hodges represents the technical craft he pours into every production, with highly anticipated tracks being played and praised by the likes of Mark Farina, DJ Heather, Derrick Carter, DJ Raoul, among other eminent House Music Pioneers around the world.

We are so excited to have Jason at The Endup on May 17, 2009’s Sunday Sessions.

Like that of many others, Greg Yuen’s love for House music started on the dance floor. DJing for about 8 years now, he has started to make a name for himself as of late, playing alongside some of the biggest names in the business. The year 2006 marked a turning point for Greg when he quit his corporate day job in order to pursue his passion that is House music. Soon after, he landed a job working for Primal Records and Amenti Music, where he began to make the right contacts and learn the business. The next logical step for him was to start his own record label, Motion Music. After the first release on Motion landed in the bags of many of House music’s top DJs, it was clear that the label was here to stay. During the daytime, Greg can be found marketing for Stompy.com, a leading digital download site that specializes in quality House music. Known for having good taste in music and a constant smile on his face, it’s easy to see that Greg Yuen not only loves House music, but he also lives House music.

Here’s the latest set he did at The Endup’s Sunday Sessions | Sunday Mass on April 19, 2009. Greg said, “I really enjoyed this mix . . . it was one of the 2 nights a year or so that San Francisco is hot in the evening. I was sweating in the DJ booth, and I seem to remember going through at least 3 cocktails during my set.” We had to ask Greg, what cocktails were those?

This Saturday (May 2, 2009), we will host two amazing DJs for [KONTROL] - Stewart Walker and Dario Zenker.

Stewart Walker first gained international prominence in the late ’90s with a series of classic releases on Force Inc., Tresor, Mille Plateau and M-nus which proved to be highly influential in the development of minimal techno. A decade later, he’s still at the top of his craft, touring the globe with his infectious, emotive live techno stylings and releasing quality music on his own Persona imprint. Stewart’s said he’s got a special set in store for [KONTROL], and we couldn’t be more excited or honored to host this iconic figure in his Endup debut!

Raised on Michael Jackson and underground hip-hop, Dario Zenker picked up DJing at age 15, and within a few years landed a residency at Munich’s famed Harry Klein club that he still holds today. in addition to his ace productions on several top labels, he is known for his dynamic sets of freaky, organic, house-driven minimal techno that always keep the crowd guessing and the dance floor bouncing.

DJ Lineups:
Stewart Walker (Persona | Force Inc. | Tresor | M-nus)
Dario Zenker (Vakant | Harry Klein | Num | Telegraph | Esperanza | Soma | Mo’s Ferry)

Spring forward with Shangri-La this Saturday (April 25, 2009), the ultimate Asian LGBT monthly in San Francisco at The Endup. We are so excited to have Kimberly S kicking off her Dharmanation Tour hitting Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Jakarta and Dallas in May and June 2009.

Kimberly S, a circuit DJ phenomenon and martial arts expert, is not afraid to tell it as it is. She explains her meteoric rise to the top of the DJ pack with a simple, “I’m strong, I’m hot and I can spin my ass off.” We love that attitude at the Endup and Shangri-La! Kimberly performs at some of the nation’s biggest parties including New Orleans’s Mardi Gras, One Might Party in Orlando, Miami’s Winter Party and Chicago’s Fireball. So, we are very happy that she will be appearing at The Endup for the first time to grace our deck.

(Texts partially taken from TwoLove Entertainment)

Along with Kimberly will be San Francisco’s favorite PKDJ and Kevin Lee with special guest Robbie Martin. Shangri-La will bring you the best DJs, hot go-go boys, great atmosphere, a non-stop party and of course, the legendary and historic Endup.
