Herbalist regards Lavender as the most useful and versatile essential oil for therapeutic purposes. Lavender is the essential oil most commonly associated with burns and healing of the skin. It also has antiseptic and analgesic properties which will ease the pain of a burn and prevent infection. It also has cytophylactic properties that promote rapid healing and help reduce scarring. The scent of Lavender is said to have a calming effect on the body and it can be used to reduce anxiety, stress and promote sleep. The different soil, temperature, precipitation, etc. contributes to some subtle changes in scent, the greatest advantage being for more sophisticated label claims.
Cautions: Lavender Moldova Essential Oil is non-toxic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing. Should be avoided during pregnancy.

This is the most used essential oil by Aromatherapists because it like Superman....it packs a real punch! It is simple to use, one drop on your collar is decongestant, one drop on a cut is both pain killer and anti biotic. One drop in some oil on a congested chest is a bronchial dialator. It is amazing for burns and prevents infection. It kills fungus so "jungle rot" hasn't got a chance!

Grow your own drugs!

James Wong wrote a book "Grow your own drugs" . It offers lots of valuable info and plants with their uses. Where to find them and how to use them. James lives in Great Britain and the info is geared toward that region of the globe but is no less useful for those of us on this side of the pond. I consider this a must have manual for disastourious times or peace. If you don't plan on growing your own medicinal herbs, you can certainly learn to collect them or buy them from reputable online dealers and safely store them for years. Knowing how to use them will never go out of style or lessen in value. Flies, ticks, bed bugs, lice, and mice along with lots of creepy crawlers hate peppermint. So if you are looking to store a multi tasking power oil, this one ranks at the top of my list!

2 drops of Peppermint oil one drop on two fingers, run the oil up the spine will drop a fever.
A few drops Peppermint oil on curtains or mixed with water & sprayed or screens will repel flies. A few drops on thresholds will keep out mice. If you are storing large amounts of food, mice will visit. Planting peppermint at entrances or using oil will be effective.

Along with all these things heretofore, peppermint is effective in combating headaches, nausea, fatique, apathy, coughs, digestive problems, bowel disorders, flatulence, muscular pain, sinus congestion, shock, faintness, travel sickness, mouth or gum infection, mental tiredness, and poor circulation. the internet is filled with how to apply/use this oil for each solution it offers.

Peppermint blends well with Basil, pine, lemon, geranium, rosemary, tea tree, lavender, all eucalyptus, grapefruit, juniper, cypress, & black pepper.

Voice of Anorexia

http://www.youtube.com/v/MCJkksl6B8I?autohide=1&version=3&showinfo=1&attribution_tag=1ingwnZkHYRLQUsZIUVbHw&autohide=1&autoplay=1&feature=share

Essential Oil Prepping guide!!

Let me introduce myself, my name is Lory Seffrood. I am a Certified Family Aromatherapist. I have studied and used oils for several years. In them I have discovered a medicine cabinet that significantly reduces our need for any over the counter Pharmacy remedy. Recently becoming more aware of the Prepping practices of nearly 3 million folks in our nation, a need has risen that I can confidently address!

As a Prepper, you must consider what you would do with a small cut or insect bite or poison ivy rash without any medical attention. In the beginning they seem small issues but without care one cut becomes infected and you have a very big issue very quickly. I have some vital suggestions to maintain vitality and health without access to Pharmacology...

I will be spending the next months constructing a "go to Oil" guide for Doomsday Preppers. There is tons of info on food saving, water stores, getting ready at arms, bunkers and foraging. I have seen nothing concerning the "what to do" in case of a simple cut? A bee sting? A fever? This info may be out there but I have seen nothing of it so I offer a solution!!! My expertise on the subject.

In a "Doomsday" situation there will most likely be no access to Pharmacy or medical advice for even simple things and a good Prepper wouldn't rely on that any way....so Let's begin!! We will construct a handy, fast reference guide to pack in your pocket to cover the situations we can think of in advance.

I have begun to build a small e book for download and print. The Oil E book will be available here upon completion. I will build a small self contained portable "box" filled with oil info and situation solutions. It will be 3x5 for easy packing in a plastic self contained box for fast reference. I will keep the essential oils needed to a minimum. Oils do have expiration dates, how you store them matters, so I am going to offer other solutions equally as effective and equally as natural keeping oil info to minimum dependence. I understand the need for these solutions to be portable so I will suggest things that are highly portable and easily stored.

With every E book sold, I will give up the name and web address of my most prized essential oil supplier as a gift. My supplier will save you hundreds of dollars!! I don't sell oils, I don't intend to sell oils so I have no biased except that of quality, honesty and price! I have done some serious homework to find all of the above and never before released this info. I held it my closely guarded secret. I now see the need to share!

Be sure to subscribe for all the new postings on this!! I will post weekly concentrating on Prepping.
You are invited to post questions regarding the use of oils, or simple natural solutions to everyday Natural Pharma in a "Doomsday" situation.

I have used and tested a all purpose antibiotic ointment for years! I have testimonials from friends, family and customers of the successful uses for what we call Green Goo. This ointment contains a hefty combination of effective essential oils that kill fungus, bacteria, virus for starters. This ointment accelerates the skins response to all kinds of various attacks from itchy rashes to infection, bug bites, eczema. We have reports of 24 hour relief of sties. Earwig bites get inflamed and painful but one testimonial of a our favorite nurse describes a 24 hour miraculous reduction of inflammation and 48 hour relief of what had become a nasty bite that in her estimation may have needed medical attention if it had not responded quickly!

What the store pics won't show you is the "goo". We offer a 2 oz or 4 oz version. It is aloe based with glycerin for added moisture retention. We have a proprietary blend of oils that include, Lavender, Tea Tree Lemon, 3 kinds of Chamomile, Bergamot, Rose Hydrolat, Neroli

It is too lengthy to pen all the things this combination of oils address here by testimony and expeirence but let's say this:
(for the FDA: this isn't intended to cure, treat or something something...this isn't recommended to replace the advice of your doctor.)
AND.... Properties of Lavender Moldova Essential Oil include analgesic, anti-convulsive, anti-depressant, anti-phlogistic, antirheumatic, antseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, bactericide, carminative, cholagogue, cicatrisant, cordial, cytophylactic, decongestant, deodorant, and as a diuretic.

Much like regular Tea Tree, Tea Tree Lemon Essential Oil is said to have antiseptic, anti-microbial, carminative and sedative properties. It is used extensively in the perfumery, cosmetic, and aromatherapy industries. It has also grown into a premiere ingredient in bug-repellent products – particularly those with a natural slant. Its anti-allergenic and anti inflammatory properties also help in the relief of skin disorders and rheumatic ailments.

German Chamomile has natural properties that make it a relaxing and rejuvenating agent. Its trace amounts of lithium calm nerves and reduce stress, lower hysteria and over-sensitivity and aids with insomnia. Chamomile (Egypt) is also reputed to have excellent anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties that can assist with cuts, wounds and insect bites.

The properties of Organic Chamomile Oil would indicate that is effective for skin care (for most skin-types), acne, allergies, boils, burns, eczema, inflamed skin conditions, earache, wounds, menstrual pain, premenstrual syndrome, headache, insomnia, nervous tension and other stress related disorders. It generally has a low toxicity, and is used commercially in shampoos for fair hair as it can lighten hair color.

Chamomile Moroccan is used by naturopaths and herbalists as an analgesic, anti-allergenic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, antibacterial, carminative, hepatic, digestive, febrifuge, fungicidal, nerve sedative, sudorific, vermifuge, a stimulant of leucocyte production and as a vulnerary agent. This herb, with its trace amounts of lithium, has a long-standing medical tradition, especially in Europe, as a treatment for nervous dyspepsia and nervous bowel, tension headaches, and sleeplessness. The essential oil is an excellent skin-care remedy; it has many of the same qualities as Roman chamomile, except that its anti-inflammatory properties are greater because of a higher percentage of azulene.

Bergamot is used in many skin care creams and lotions because of its refreshing nature. It is ideally suited to help calm inflamed skin, and is an ingredient in some creams for eczema and psoriasis. Its chemical makeup has antiseptic properties which help ward off infection and aid recovery. It is also a favourite oil of aromatherapists in treating depression.

Neroli Essential Oil increases circulation and stimulates new cell growth. It can prevent scarring and stretch marks, and has been found useful in treating skin conditions linked to emotional stress. Any type of skin can benefit from this oil, although it is particularly good for dry, irritated or sensitive skin. It regulates oiliness and minimizes enlarged pores. Neroli Oil helps to clear acne and blemished skin, especially if the skin lacks moisture. With regular treatment, it can reduce the appearance of fragile or broken capillaries and varicose veins. Other properties include being antidepressant, antiseptic, antispasmodic, aphrodisiac, carminative, cordial, deodorant, digestive, stimulant (nervous) and tonic (cardiac, circulatory).

Tips & Recipes for Leaky Gut Syndrome - The Cheeky Bite

Tips & Recipes for Leaky Gut Syndrome - The Cheeky Bite: Tips and recipe adaptations for food
I went perusing today looking to see the info on adaptagens. I found some goofy stuff~ Let's review! Some say adaptagens are an ingredient in their supplement able to support your immune system!! CA CA!
I found one oil site say that it meant that oil supported your immune system~ Uh noooo!
So here is the bonified, I have studied the quality of the essential oils considered adaptagens and will let you know the truth of it here..............
Adaptagens are the group of essential oils that act as both stimulant and sedative! Confused? How might an essential oil do both you ask? I did! It can't at the same time! So here is a demonstration of how amazing God is! (The Word of God says that all creation demonstrates the nature of God) so does this group of essential oils!
When you are studying, it is late in the day, or maybe you are at work you are fully engaged in the task at hand but maybe tired from the morning, poor food choices, time of year, lack of fresh air, sunshine,..... I mean this list could go on, right? Your brain has certain activity to keep you engaged as your activity level demands. This group of essential oils "reads" that message and acts as a stimulant! Lemon for example will improve your focus, stimulant your brain activity and cause you to retain up to 40% more information! Why would you work without it, huh?
But later that evening you are laying in your bed trying to wind down....you are cool, your body is relaxed but unable to sleep, a few drops of lemon will then act as a relaxer and increase your ability for a deep sleep! It again reads your chemistry markers and offers relaxing!
If that isn't a scratch your head amazing thing....I got nothing!
THIS is the truth (but not the whole truth) of adaptagen essential oils~ there are oils that serve as both one that stimulates your brain, increasing energy and also serves as a sedative! Not am immune stimulant!
Here are a few of adaptagen essential oils: Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
       Lemon (Citrus limonum)
       Coriander (Coriandum sativum)
       Jasmine (Jasminum grandiflorum)
       May Chang oil (Litsea citrata)
       Melissa (Melissa officianalis)
       Petitgrain (Citrus aurantium)
       Yuzu (Cirtus junos)

And fyi: just for fun! Did you know Black Pepper essential oil is an aphrodisiac?

Beat The Heat with a few Essential Oils

Recently this part of the country has SUFFERED with nearly debilitating heat! I thought turning to Essential oil solutions that are simple and offer effective relief would be wise.... so here are just a few.

If, while enjoying the outdoors in the heat, you feel dizzy, faint, or nauseous (even if you don't fee thirsty) escape to the shade and rest. 1 tsp of pink Hymalian sea salt added to a bottle of water will hydrate best!

Apply Lavender (Landula Angustofolia) to your temples, back of your neck and solar plexus (upper abdomen) and breathe deeply.

After sun care should also used to minimize the effects of heat (such as muscle cramps) and dehydration.
Dilute 2 drops Geranium oil or 3 drops Eucalyptus oil with 1 tsp of your favorite oil and message on muscles.

Prickly heat is that tell tale rash of tiny red blisters. It is caused by blocked sweat glands and can be itchy. Use 6 drops of each Eucalyptus, lavender and chamomile to a tsp of vodka (one very good use for Vodka, I an think of....) Shake that mixture into a cup of spring water and spritz your spotty areas!

Warm baths are good especially effective if you add 4 drops of Eucalyptus and Lavender Essential oils. Adding baking soda to a bath is the most effective relief for things skin related.

Consider these solutions for
Babies under two:
1/4 c baking soda adn 2 drops Lavender

Babies 2 to 7 years old:
1/2 c baking soda
2 drops Lavender

Babies 8 to 10 years old:
1/2 cup baking soda
3 drops Lavender

10 years to Adult:
1 cup baking soda
4 drops Lavender

More isn't better in the economy of God. God is a great economist and enough is enough on His scale so adding more Lavender will actually reverse the efficacy of the oil! Too much undoes it's purpose. Oh my, is there in there?

I have been out and about a lot lately and thought most of you would be too! I have been to waterparks in the Dells (WOO HOO) and to Michigan to get a new and improved super trailer for Honey to haul more things for sale! (also WOO HOO!) But in my running around I have found from Wisconsin to Michigan that many restrooms now ONLY offer that yucky blower thingy to dry your hands after you have braved the impossibly icky sink and the frightening pesticide laden soap option! Then to finish the now completely disgusting experience you BLOW YOUR HANDS for as long as your patience (not the process) dictate! Usually, for me this is long enough to stop the dripping on the now dangerous and revolting floor under the dryer.

Ok, this aromatherapist seeks a better solution! While I can not single handedly (YET) equip each bathroom from WI to MI or wherever you are, with a fabulous aromatic solution. I can equip you to do a few far more excellent things.

Let's say you have visited on these restrooms and now you face..........THE SINK........consider this:
a single little wedge of lemon has enough germ killing power for clean up! So does an orange! If you are picnicing, pack some! If you are in a restaurant, ask for lemon with your water! Clean your hands for before eat! Use them per slice for that germ killing alternative! Long road trip? Ill prepared? Many gas stations now sell fresh fruit and often they offer oranges! Even if the ripeness isn't enought to entice your enjoying the fruit as a snack, the germ killing power and aroma will not be dampened by the greenish tint to the C store choice! Buy the orange before you go into the restroom!!

Just some food for thought while we wildly dash about this summer subjecting ourselves to ever decreasing pleasantries in our public arena! Add some pleasantries for your self! If you are feeling especially generous you could teach the poor girl next to you of the power of the lemon (or orange)! Enjoy the sunshine God captured in the orange and in the summer season!

FYI: aromatherapist caution here:
lime smells great, true, and it is in the citrus family, true but it doesn't pack the power filled germ killing properties of orange or lemon!

There is also this! I make an amazing product we affectionately call "Green Goo". This touts germ killing, virus killing, bacteria killing power in a synergistic blend that goes beyond the power of a single lemon. This stuff has so many effective uses I will not labor to list them all here. I will, however, upon your purchase, send you an email attachment that will list the testimonies of those who have used it for years and simple directions. It is as simple to use a lotion, you don't need directions for that, huh!? But this stuff addresses so many different things, it seemed prudent to offer the suggested uses!
I sell two sizes of Green goo:
1 oz sample easy to carry and perfect to refill for travel! $5.00
4 oz container easily kept in the cabinet of fridge. $12.00 plus shipping. (no handling charge)
While I develop my Etsy store and website you can simply email me from here and I will get your Green goo right off to you!
Here is the commentary I found from a favorite and trusted source.

"Nature Identical Essential Oils
Nature identical essential oils are a blend of natural essential oils and aromatic compounds. They are a great alternative to pure essential oils for providing an identical aroma for your cosmetics, soaps, and candles at a fraction of the cost. When compared to fragrant oils that are 100% synthetic, nature identical oils have fewer synthetic compounds, whilst offering a superior aroma.

Please note that nature identical essential oils are not suited for aromatherapy and therapeutic applications"

These oils will smell great but they like fragrant oils don't pack the chemical punch that causes your brain to act. Essential oils activate your brain. The centers activated oversee your heart so they activate your entire system with a sniff! They also slay body invaders like fungus and virus. A great smell can't do that!

When you are choosing oils for the purpose of a great smell, choose the fragrant oil. Like candle burning these oils will make your home smell terrific. But if you want fragrance with a purpose, a fantastic fragrance that packs a purpose filled punch, think peppermint oil for an after noon pick up! Think lemon to help you focus. Think Lavender for a soothing atmosphere. If the kids are fighting a nagging cough, think black pepper and lemon. Studies have shown that studying with a fragrance increases your retention by 30 to 50 %. Talk about working smarter not harder!

Fragrant and Nature or Bio Identical oils are like hiring a maid without arms to clean your house. You can pay her. She can show up at your house but she lacks all the right stuff to get the job done!

Prevent colds and flu this year, seriously!

Lavender is the MOST amazing essential oil! We hear of it in all kinds of things. Mostly when it is listed on a commerical product they can be saying it is the fragrance of Lavender, which for our purposes, is useless! So let's talk!
Lavender, for the purpose of protection this cold and flu season, is the heaviest hitter you can recruit! lavender barrame is the MOST theraputic version of all the Lavenders! When you search a Lavender be sure of 2 things; 1. the lavender you are choosing is of the Angustifolia variety. That is the botanical grouping! Lavender Angustifolia. That is the variety that packs the theraputic punch!
2. Make sure the Lavender you are choosing isn't added to something else. Be sure you get Pure Essential Oil!!
Lavender is sold EVERYWHERE these days and I am not a fan~ Wine is sold in boxes but we don't consider it a prize if we were hunting for an extravagant or elegant gift for a wine expert. This is much the same. Lavender is sold everywhere but not all Lavender is created equal.
Consider going to a lavender farm (online) "Liberity Natural" in Oregon is one of my favorites.
So, now that you have discovered a source for the good stuff, lavender angustifolia. What now? One drop at a time.... Here are some of the best ways to use Lavender and incoroprate it into your everyday life with very little effort!
1. When shopping, before you go in, put one drop into your palm and rub it on your neck. It acts like a litte army, the scent of Lavender means the molecules are in your nose killing invaders! Lavender is anti fungal, anti viral, anti bacterial and more! Lavender goes into your skin and collects any rengade invaders and sticks to them like taking a prisoner and flushes them out of your system through your kidneys. Good stuff, huh!
2. Becuase you put the lavender on your hands, your are protected from WHATEVER creepy crawly things live and thrive on shopping carts! Congrats!
3. Lavender is an adaptagen. Cool name, better meaning! An adaptegen reads your body needs and offers a stimulant when you need it and a calming effect when you need that! Awesome, stuff! The oil reads your needs and delivers!!
4. You can not overdose! The body only holds the oils for about 6 hours then all is disposed that isn't used! So feel free!
5. The scent activates the part of your brain that controls your heart so you are getting to "heart ofthe matter" everytime! There is no building up resistance to essential oils! They are effective EVERYTIME. You will never have to increase your dose.
5. At the end of the day, soak in a warm bath with 4 drops (for adults) of Lavender floating on the surface of your tub. Shut the shower curtain, and inhale deeply! Let the oil work for you as a decongestant, bacterial, viral, fungus killer. Relax your brain and body at the end of the day! 20 minutes is recommended! Regenerative sleep is easier to come by if you retire to your room already relaxed! So turn off the tv and draw a warm Lavender bath!
Feel free to contact me with any questions! I would be happy to serve as your oil maven!
There really is some science to all this lavender picking. So using the experts to guide you would be beneficial. I am opening an Etsy store so stay tuned for upcoming offerings! I got the fever for the oil again! I will share what I can with you!

You may already eating essential oils but you didn't know!!

Have you ever had a cup of a Earl Grey Tea? It is Bergamot that makes that tea so special!Have you ever enjoyed Chai tea? The Brand Stash add essentials to their Chai

According to Wikipedia:
The traditional masala chai is a bracing, strongly spiced beverage brewed with so-called "warm" spices. The basic chai wallah tea uses fresh ginger and green cardamom pods.[3] Most masala chai found in restaurants or homes incorporates one or more of the following: cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, fennel seeds, peppercorn, and cloves.
Traditionally, cardamom is a dominant note, supplemented by other spices such as cloves, ginger, or black pepper; the latter two add a pleasantly piquant flavour. In India, fresh ginger is often used.
However, in Western India, fennel and black pepper are expressly avoided.[citation needed] The Kashmiri version of chai is brewed with green tea instead of black tea and has a more subtle blend of flavorings: almonds, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and sometimes saffron. In Bhopal, typically, a pinch of salt is added.
Other possible ingredients include nutmeg, rose flavouring (where rose petals are boiled along with the loose-leaf tea), or liquorice root There are often essential oils powering the food we eat, we just didn't know it! That is the same way the crummy chemicals got in our food, we just didn't notice! There is a sermon in there for sure!!

I just saw on a show that the deicer they use in Alaska for planes is PROPYLENE GLYCOL. For more information about that refer to prior post.

When we pick up some momentum here we will start some recipe contests!!
Everything I feel confident about in a floral, herb or other leafy thing shows up in a brown or blue bottle! I was invited to showcase my new all natural essential oil products at the International Herb Conference a few years back. You have seen the faces of the herbalists when I asked them to tell me what all these plants were! I could tell them by sniff but certainly my brown bottle had hidden from me the leaf formation!! I learned a lot about the oils I love at that show. I also learned, I am NO GARDENER! The entire process takes too long for me!

I love essential oils! Once I started to study them to develop a skin care product, I realized that God has not forgotten a thing we need! The benefits of adding essential oils to a bath, a lotion, a vaporizer or your food have been proven over and over!

As I grow this blog, I will include the history of the oils or the uses or the other oils my favorite oils blend well with as we go. You will be able to find resources, other websites I love, vendors I trust and information as I put to cyber paper what I know about oils.

Some companies online have sought to exploit, in my opinion, our desire to get back to most things natural, healing and organic. These companies have created some hype that points you to only use THEIR oils for certain purposes, such as cooking. They say that only an essential oil labeled "therapeutic" should be used in cooking. I love that as a marketer but I hate that as an aromatherapist. I want to dispel a few myths and share some exciting facts about essential oils.

The truth is there are different extraction methods! the plant or root or grass or wood can be pressed, steam distilled, or by the use of CO2 the oil can be extracted but they all come out essential oils, therefore, THERAPEUTIC!

When you are considering oils you want to choose the best oil you can afford. Use organic whenever possible. Use steam distilled or pressed rather than CO2. I do have a few oils that only are good by the use of CO2 but they are few. When you are considering oils, skip the grocery store offerings. They are great food brokers but seriously, you can't know how old the oil is or how it was stored in transport. Changing weather, varying temperatures all compromise the potency of your oils. They are fragile!! I can relate to that! Not so long ago , so was I! (more on that later)

I am going to offer my advice and expertise as a Certified Aromatherapist. I want to build a library of information and resources. I will be conducting some recipe contests. I will submit some recipes for y'all to try out and review. I am in a unique position because I am not an oil broker! I have no interest in swaying you to buy one product over another except the excellence I have personally experienced with that company or product. I am not a retail anything. I do create and sell products to family and friends but I am not a manufacturer.

The disclaimer is as follows, all the advice I give is for your entertainment. That is to say you should always consult your physician and follow their advice. My advice is not intended to determine any illness or offer any cure.

Aromatherapy

There are lots of sites online for aromatherapists! Lots of places sell oils! Essential oils are everywhere! What isn't everywhere are aromatherapists! Those folks that have studied the oils and are actually certified (schooled) to help you find simple and powerful ways to use these amazing botanicals & herbs! It is my hope and effort to build a place that will provide an "on call" aromatherapist, me and a place where you can find simple ideas! I am authoring a few booklets showing some real simple ways to use essential oils in cooking! If you think they are good for the outside of you, you will be surprised to see what they do for the inside!
I don't sell oils! I can tell you the best choices of oils to accomplish what you need! For example lots of places sell Lavender oil. But did you know there are several Lavender choices! There is only one effectively therapeutic grade of Lavender. All the others just smell good. Oh that isn't entirely true, they are beneficial but the MOST effective is Lavendula Angustifolia. Never use 40/42 for a therapeutic or healing effect! Did you know that you can eat Lavender? It makes an amazing extraordinary ingredient to some everyday recipes! Stay tuned for more information! Blog me or email, I would love to hear from you! I will try to answer any aromatherapy question you have! Consider me your aromatherapist on call!
