Taranaki equestrian Heelan Tompkins will be looking to impress the New Zealand selectors at this weekend’s FEI World Cup Eventing qualifier being held in conjunction with the Mitavite International Horse Trial at the Kihikihi Domain near Te Awamutu.

Tompkins is one of eight riders on the New Zealand Olympic Shortlist and has opted to base her campaign on New Zealand soil. She has chosen this weekend’s FEI World Cup Eventing competition to prove she and mount Sugoi have what it takes to go to Beijing later in the year.

Sadly we were not able to keep up with the Eventing Blog..It was fun, but we were over ambitious about what we could do.

The Eventing Blog will be transferring to a new owner and will join a sister site http://www.eventing.tv, which is still under construction. The new owners will be spending some time to build eventing.tv (which will be a REALLY cool site, featuring video clips exclusively of eventing! You will be able to upload your own videos!) Course Building/Design Seminar Scheduled May 12-13, 2007, Valinor Farm, Plymouth, MA (USA)

A course building/design seminar will be held May 12-13, 2007 at Valinor Farm in Plymouth, Massachusetts., USA. This will be a hands-on seminar with Tremaine Cooper and Trav Schick, including cross-country design and jump building as well as discussion and teaching of techniques for building both permanent and portable cross-country fences. Frangible pin installation will also be covered, and attending this clinic will qualify any builders who need to attend a session on installing frangible pins before they can install them on their own.

Fee: $150.00 for both days – lunch provided.

2007 New Zealand Trans Tasman Eventing Team Announced

The Eventing New Zealand selectors have named a five strong team to meet Australia in next month’s Trans Tasman equestrian challenge.

Amongst the riders named are Athens Olympian Matthew Grayling, along with the current national one day champion Emily Butcher of Canterbury and Otago’s Clarke Johnstone, who recently claimed the New Zealand round of the FEI World Cup series.

British Eventing to Test Pre-Intro "Training" Level Courses

According to Horse and Hound, British Eventing is looking to introduce a level of competition below Intro.

The class, which is being called "training" level, will have an intro dressage test, but with reduced height fences (80cm) for both the cross-country and show jumping. (Not to be confused with the US Training level, the UK Training level experiment is at heights a bit smaller than US Beginner Novice).

It is with deepest regret that we announce that Jo-Anne Williams suffered an accident whilst competing at Sapey One Day Event in Worcestershire, UK on Tuesday 17th April and later died in hospital.

Jo-Anne Williams (34) was from Llanfaethlu, Holyhead, Anglesey and married.

Eventing Ireland has announced the addition of a new Horse Trials at Gurteen College in Co. Tipperary, Ireland.
