Without a doubt, Gnarls Barkley has to have the most ironic, sarcastic, witty, creative music videos in the industry right now. Directed by Chris Milk, who is fast becoming one of my favorite music video directors, the actual song itself acts as ambiance to a conversation between a man and woman. The woman is breaking up with the man, which prompts a serious yet humorous conversation. I will say that this video isn’t for the weak stomach though lol.

So, as is the trend nowadays, ?uestlove has decided to get together with Nike to collaborate on the 1World sneaker. ?uestlove proclaims these shoes to be “an extension of [his] personality” as he strives to make “a very loud statement, a sneaker that sort of has 12 exclamation points behind it.” To commemorate the release of these kicks, Questlove will be making several appearances in locations in three different cities, New York, Philly & Los Angeles. Now, normally I don’t rock with Cre8tive Recks at all. Not saying they’re ugly, but I just haven’t come across a style from them that makes me stop and look. Currently, the streetwear world is approaching an eve of a new direction (a much needed one if you ask me). In my opinion, style is going from the more sporty/skatey look to a more fashion forward/upscale look. Take these Cre8tive Recks dropping next spring exclusive to Barneys NY. From a first glance, one wouldn’t suspect them to be Cre8tive Recks. Clean, sleek, simple and just plain dope. Kudos out to CR, if this is where you’re taking it, I might just hop on the bandwagon!

BJ the Chicago Kid is one of those artist that is dope as all outdoors but is the hardest to keep tabs on. He doesn’t keep a list of his upcoming shows, he rarely releases new music, he just appears randomly with some dope shit then disappears. He has worked with many notable artists such as Mary J. Blige & Mario. So granted, much of his work is behind the scenes. But BJ, if you’re looking @ this, would you please hit us up with some official new songs, and updates on your shows so we can make it out! With that said, here is a new song I happen to find of BJ’s after digging around. I made up my own title, its actually entitled “Track 03″.

P.S. Unfortunately, I can’t put a download link to this song because it is unreleased and even trails off into silence at the end for about 2 minutes or so then goes into some acappella. Estelle Getty, best known for playing the role of the quick witted Sophia Petrillo on The Golden Girls, passed away this morning at her Hollywood Boulevard home. She was 84 years old and suffered from advanced dementia. Rest in peace Sophia and thank you for being our friend.

Not sure if you’ve heard this or not, but it’s new to me and fresh as fuck. I first heard this up at the Warner Bros. office in Burbank and I flipped out. I must admit, at first I didn’t really dig Wiz Khalifa after I heard his single Say Yeah. I mean I understood why they felt that record needed to come out so I can’t knock the hustle, but when I heard this I had to second guess my feelings towards homie. Keep em comin Wiz!

There’s a little show on Showtime called Weeds, ever heard of it? Of course you have. Well, if you’re a fan of the show then you’ll notice that the intro of the song changes like every episode, same lyrics but different composition (click to listen to the original intro). Pretty creative idea, but there are definitely some intros that I wish they would have played more than once, and some that they shouldn’t have played at all. Anyway, Haircut decided to do his own rendition of the popular intro (him on the beat and vocals) and I sure wouldn’t mind hearing this a couple times.

I’m about to start campaigning for Ryan Leslie because I truly believe in him. Watching his videos shows how much he loves music, and has fun doing it for the love. This interview isn’t the most in depth, but I’d figure I’d blog it anyway just to encourage those out there who haven’t given Ryan Leslie a chance to go find some of his work, and listen.
