ATTENTION
Αν δεν έχει πέσει στα χέρια σας το εξαιρετικό Wake των Scott Snyder και Sean Murphy μην αμελήσετε να προπαραγγείλετε τον πρώτο τόμο.
Ακόμη, μην αφήσετε να σας ξεφύγει ο δεύτερος τόμος του Siegfried από την Archaia. Αν δεν έχετε διαβάσει τον πρώτο τόμο ακόμη καλύτερα. Απλά αγοράστε και τους δύο μαζί και απολαύστε μια καλή δόση αυτού του πανέμορφου ευρωπαϊκού κόμικ.

Πολλά ωραία πράγματα κρύβει στις σελίδες του ο κατάλογος του Απριλίου, που μας ενημερώνει για τα κόμικς και τα λοιπά σχετικά (και μη) αντικείμενα που θα κυκλοφορήσουν από τον Ιούνιο και μετά.

Από τις 25 προτάσεις μου γι αυτόν το μήνα οι 21 είναι κόμικς, 2 είναι artbooks και 2 merchandise. Previews Wishlist Δεκέμβριος 2012

Ο τελευταίος κατάλογος για το 2012 κυκλοφόρησε πριν κανα δυο μέρες κι εγώ σπατάλησα με χαρά πολλές ώρες για να τον ξεφυλλίσω. Το Previews Δεκεμβρίου περιέχει κόμικς, περιοδικά, αφίσες, αγαλματάκια και πολλά λοιπά παραφερνάλια που θα κυκλοφορήσουν τον Φεβρουάριο (σε ορισμένες περιπτώσεις μπορεί και αργότερα).

Υπάρχουν αρκετές εκδόσεις που αξίζουν την προσοχή μας:

Όσοι έχουν μικρά παιδιά που βρίσκονται στα πρώτα στάδια εκμάθησης αγγλικών είναι πιθανό ότι θα βρουν ενδιαφέρουσες αρκετές προσφορές του καταλόγου. Αυτά τα ολιγοσέλιδα κόμικς μπορούν ίσως να λειτουργήσουν ως βοηθητικό υλικό χάρη στα όμορφα χρώματα και σχέδιά τους. Στη συνέχεια θα βρείτε περισσότερες λεπτομέρειες για τέσσερα κόμικ που ανήκουν σ'αυτήν την κατηγορία.

Τέσσερα είναι επίσης και τα κόμικς ευρωπαϊκής προέλευσης που σας προτείνω γι αυτό το μήνα. Είναι οι δεύτεροι τόμοι των Long John Silver και Spooks από την Cinebook, το Last Laugh από την Fantagraphics, και το Moomin Builds a House από την Drawn and Quarterly.
Όσον αφορά στο Moomin, σε όσους άρεσαν οι ασπρόμαυρες hardcover εκδόσεις της ίδιας εταιρείας είμαι σίγουρος ότι θα λατρέψουν τις έγχρωμες αυτές εκδοχές τους. Κάθε ένα από αυτά τα τευχάκια περιλαμβάνει μια ολοκληρωμένη ιστορία, σε αντίθεση με τα hardcover που περιείχαν από 3 έως 5 (οπότε από οικονομικής απόψεως η τιμή τους είναι αρκετά τσιμπημένη).

Επίσης μας δελεάζει...
- η IDW με μια νέα προσθήκη στην τεραστίων διαστάσεων (και πανάκριβη) σειρά Artist's Edition, και με την πρώτη συλλογή Popeye του Sagendorf,
- η Fantagraphics με ένα βιβλίο-οδηγό για το έργο του Daniel Clowes,
- η Top Shelf με μια νέα προσθήκη στην League of Extraordinary Gentlemen από τον Αλαν Μούρ,
- η DC Comics με την softcover έκδοση του Joe the Barbarian, την επανατύπωση του Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, και τα άπαντα(?) του Marshal Law,
- η Boom! Studios με το πρώτο τεύχος του Fairy Quest, και τέλος

Previews Wishlist Οκτώβριος 2012

Ο κατάλογος του Οκτωβρίου μας υπόσχεται αρκετά όμορφα πράγματα και μάλιστα δύο από αυτά είναι ελληνικής "καταγωγής"! Πρόκειται για τον δεύτερο τόμο του Last Call από τον Βασίλη Λώλο και το Old City Blues του Γιάννη Μυλωνογιάννη σε νέα δερματόδετη έκδοση που θα κυκλοφορήσει σε 400 μόνο αντίτυπα!

Η Vanguard μας προσφέρει δύο πολύ καλές εκδόσεις:
Το "Eerie Tales Of Crime and Horror" είναι ο δεύτερος τόμος που εκδίδει η συγκεκριμένη εταιρεία, αφιερωμένος στη δουλειά του Wallace Wood για την εταιρεία EC από την δεκαετία του 1950.
Το "Jeffrey Jones: The Definitive Reference" είναι για μένα η σημαντικότερη κυκλοφορία του μήνα. Ο κατάλογος αυτός καταγράφει το σύνολο της δουλειάς της Jones τόσο στα κόμικς όσο και στις "καλές τέχνες". Είμαι τεράστιος φαν και δεν υπάρχει καμία απολύτως περίπτωση να το αφήσω να μου ξεφύγει, ωστόσο όσοι δεν την γνωρίζετε σας προτείνω ανεπιφύλακτα να αγοράσετε το εκπληκτικό artbook "Jeffrey Jones: A life in art" που κυκλοφόρησε πέρυσι από την IDW.

Το "Good-Bye Geist" είχε κυκλοφορήσει σε συνέχειες στην εναλλακτική μάνγκα ανθολογία "GEN" της ίδιας εταιρείας και τώρα συγκεντρώνεται σε έναν αυτοτελή τόμο. Από διάφορα αποσπάσματα που κατάφερα να διαβάσω online, είμαι αρκετά σίγουρος ότι αξίζει τα λεφτά του.

Τέλος, έχουμε τον 18ο τόμο της κλασικής πλέον σειράς Fables και την τρίτη προσθήκη στην Michael Kaluta Sketchbook Series από την IDW!

Previews Wishlist Σεπτέμβριος 2012

Ο κατάλογος του Σεπτέμβρη μου φάνηκε πολύ καλός. Πρώτα απ'όλα περιλαμβάνει μια νέα δουλειά του μοναδικού Richard Corben, μια νέα προσθήκη στη βιβλιοθήκη του Παπιανθρώπου από την Fantagraphics, καθώς επίσης και την επανακυκλοφόρηση των κλασικών πλέον κόμικς του Rick Geary σε μια πιο χορταστική και οικονομικά συμφέρουσα έκδοση.

Η IDW προσφέρει το Judge Dredd: The Complete Brian Bolland και εγώ χαίρομαι που συνεχίζεται ο καταιγισμός από τόμους που συλλέγουν το σύνολο του έργου συγκεκριμένων καλλιτεχνών από εξαιρετικά μακρόβιες ανθολογίες-περιοδικά κόμικς.

Όσον αφορά στο Ozymandias #4, που σας προτείνω στη συνέχεια, θα ήθελα να αναφέρω, έτσι "for the record", ότι με αφήνει παγερά αδιάφορο το στόρυ του συγκεκριμένου κόμικ ως prequel του Watchmen... Πιστεύω ότι κινήσεις σαν αυτή της DC, που προσπαθεί να "αρμέξει την χρυσή αγελάδα", έχουν κοστίσει πολύ στην εικόνα που έχει ο περισσότερος κόσμος για τα κόμικς. Αυτό βέβαια δεν πάει να πει ότι το Ozymandias και οι υπόλοιπες παρόμοιες μίνι-σειρές δεν μπορούν να είναι καλά κόμικς... Την συγκεκριμένη σειρά σας την προτείνω καθαρά και μόνο για το artwork του Jae Lee.
Έχω πάθει ένα μικρό κόλλημα τον τελευταίο καιρό τόσο με τις δουλειές του Lee όσο και του Frazer Irving. Αυτό που μου κάνει ιδιαίτερη εντύπωση και για τους δύο είναι ότι ποτέ δεν ξέρω αν θα μου αρέσει μια νέα τους δουλειά... Δεν μπορώ να είμαι σίγουρος για το πόσο καλό θα είναι το τελικό αποτέλεσμα καθώς εξαρτάται σε πολύ μεγάλο βαθμό από το χρωματισμό και τα μελάνια, ενώ στην περίπτωση του Irving ακόμη και από το σενάριο. Σκοπεύω να κάνω μικρά αφιερώματα και στους δύο καλλιτέχνες και να σας δείξω με παραδείγματα για τι πράγμα μιλάω...

Πολύ μου άρεσε ο κατάλογος του Ιουλίου. Λεφτά όμως υπάρχουν;

Δεν υπάρχει πάντως καμία περίπτωση να αφήσω το Ragemoor και το Black Country να μου ξεφύγουν, ό,τι και να γίνει.

Άργησα αρκετά αυτό τον μήνα να κάνω τις προτάσεις μου από το Previews, κυρίως γιατί ο κατάλογος του μήνα μου φάνηκε ιδιαίτερα απογοητευτικός. Επίσης η πρόσβασή μου στο ίντερνετ είναι ιδιαίτερα περιορισμένη. Όπως θα δείτε και στη συνέχεια θα είμαι αρκετά λακωνικός...
Εάν δεν θέλετε να αγοράσετε τον κατάλογο μπορείτε να επισκεφτείτε το comicbreak.com και να τον κατεβάσετε σε μορφή PDF! Αν και είναι "πειρατικό" σκανάρισμα, δεν νομίζω ότι είναι και τόσο επιλήψιμο να τον κατεβάσετε, καθώς σε τελική ανάλυση τα χρήματά σας θα στηρίξουν τόσο τους καλλιτέχνες όσο και τις εκδοτικές εταιρείες εφόσον αγοράζετε τα κόμικς τους...

Αρκετά ενδιαφέροντα πράγματα και αυτό τον μήνα από το Previews, με την Fantagraphics να κάνει και πάλι την διαφορά. Από τις υπόλοιπες εταιρείες μου τράβηξαν την προσοχή κυρίως παλαιότερες εκδόσεις που είναι ξανά διαθέσιμες για παραγγελία.

Ο Jim Woodring γεννήθηκε στο Λος Άντζελες το 1952 και σήμερα ζει και εργάζεται στο Σιάτλ. Ως παιδί υπέφερε από οφθαλμαπάτες/παραισθήσεις (εκτός των άλλων έβλεπε φλύαρα αιωρούμενα πρόσωπα πάνω από το κρεβάτι του), ενώ είχε εμμονή με "την ιδέα του πρόωρου θανάτου σε μικρή ηλικία" και φοβόταν ότι οι γονείς του θα έμπαιναν το βράδυ στο δωμάτιό του και θα τον σκότωναν!

Previews Wishlist Φεβρουάριος 2012

Πολλά τα καλά "μαντάτα" και αυτό το μήνα από το Previews. Μακάρι να μπορούσα να τα αγοράσω όλα, αλλά απ'ότι φαίνεται θα αρκεστώ στο Ragemoor και σε κανα-δυό πραγματάκια από την Fantagraphics. Είναι ιδέα μου ή όσο περνάει ο καιρός τα κόμικς γίνονται πιό ακριβά;

Πάντως το καλύτερο που έχει συμβεί στην αμερικάνικη σκηνή των κόμικς τα τελευταία χρόνια, πιστεύω ότι είναι οι επανεκδόσεις κλασικών, ή απλά παλαιότερων, κόμικς σε ογκοδέστατους τόμους και πολλές φορές με άριστη ποιότητα εκτύπωσης:
- Εξαιρετικά κόμικς-στριπς (Mickey Mouse, Krazy Kat, Prince Valiant, Little Nemo, κ.α.)
- Περιοδικά-ανθολογίες (Creepy, Eerie, Vampirella, Judge Dredd, κ.α.)
- Ευρωπαϊκά κόμικς (από τις εταιρείες Fantagraphics, Humanoids, Dark Horse, κ.α.)
Αυτά και τόσα άλλα, υπερ-ηρωικά και μη, χρειάστηκαν 20, 30 ακόμη και 90 χρόνια για να βρούν ξανά το δρόμο τους για το τυπογραφείο. Διανύουμε την χρυσή περίοδο των επανεκδόσεων και οι επιλογές είναι αμέτρητες. Μακάρι αυτή η περίοδος να συνεχιστεί για πολλά ακόμη χρόνια.

Ύστερα από αυτή την παρένθεση (σχετικής με τις τιμές που ανέφερα παραπάνω) προχωρώ στις προτάσεις μου γι'αυτό το μήνα. Τί θα εκδοθεί τον Απρίλιο και αξίζει την προσοχή μας; Στη συνέχεια η απάντηση....

Previews Wishlist Ιανουάριος 2012

Το Previews αυτού του μήνα περιέχει, όπως πάντα, χιλιάδες προϊόντα για όλα τα γούστα. Μπορείτε να καταλάβετε λοιπόν ότι οι ακόλουθες επιλογές κάθε άλλο παρά αντικειμενικές μπορούν να θεωρηθούν. Το σίγουρο είναι ότι σας προτείνω κάτι μόνο όταν εγώ ο ίδιος θα ήθελα να το αποκτήσω. Επίσης, οι προτάσεις μου δεν αφορούν μόνο κόμικς που κυκλοφορούν για πρώτη φορά αλλά και παλαιότερες δουλειές που επανακυκλοφορούν ή συνεχίζουν να είναι διαθέσιμες. Η μόνη προϋπόθεση είναι να βρίσκονται στον κατάλογο του μήνα ώστε να μπορείτε να τα παραγγείλετε από τα "κομικσομάγαζα"...
